  1. I made some coffee and was just sitting down to dive back into the story. I have to be painfully honest - I hate fanfics - I NEVER read them even though I will actually write them (geez I'm selfish!) BUT I like yours! And as A.D.D. as I am that's saying a lot - I WILL NOT read something unless I genuinely enjoy it. ok back to chapter 2 - I'll update this post with comments if I don't see a response from you! *ok I'm sitting here sipping fresh coffee and in the beginning of chapter 3 Twilight is drinking coffee!! rofl !! :D I may have a new favorite pony!
  2. Ok I read chapter 1 and looked over Chapter 2 - I need more time to make a cup of coffee and sit down and digest it completely. I liked it - Certainly is a departure from the more light hearted candy coated nature of the series and takes it into a darker more serious venue. I liked your interactions in chapter 1 with twilight and spike - I really feel those were spot on - i liked your treatment of Pinkie too - I was kinda Rarity hungry throughout the story but when you're dealing with dragons that does seem to be more Twilight's dept. Introducing war and death seems to be something we all wouldn't mind seeing the ponies tackle - I for one think this show's creative talent would easily be up to the task.
  3. Oh cool well let's trade off - I'll go read yours now - and you read mine
  4. The names break the 4th wall - they were given by the creator/writers as puns for humor or just to be lighthearted. There's an old pony who's name is Combover Liverspot. Apparently that hasn't always been his name - and his cutie mark is a bubble pipe. If you want to make an 'in character' solution to this - just go with nicknames - Granny Smith may actually have the name Apple Pie because of how Apple recurs within the family and now she is called Granny Smith as a term of affection. There's a Granny Pegasus too -

  6. Is this a necrobumped topic I'm seeing? *glares* - and a double post to boot! It seems like i've heard this story before as well - it could very possibly be an urban legend by now. Well - what's important is the fact of what do you do when your personal goals/values don't align with those of your families? Especially a father or mother who are not very open or flexible? I say - don't muddy the waters - it is up to you but in my humble opinion what right do we have to selfishly announce something to our family that they don't share an interest in. For that matter - even believe in. I feel we should respect their beliefs and honor their idea of family. Yes you may have to suppress your own desires in some areas but it's for a greater good - the well being of the family overall above your own desires. It's not always about us. Every super hero has a secret identity - just realize that now you have one as well - superheroes don't reveal their identities because their enemies will do harm to the people they love - well exposing your secret identity is going to do emotional harm to the people you love as well. Once a person is an adult and a fully functioning citizen living a life all their own - then you can watch and do whatever you feel like - and at that time if you feel it's appropriate THEN you could be more open with your family. Whether it be a love for My Little Pony or someone's sexual orientation - both of which have a stigmatization to them - realize that as a part of your family you impact how they are viewed by society - and how people in the community make decisions for your family's benefit or detriment. So for a Dad who was raised that boys are snips and snails and puppy dog tails - when they cross gender lines for whatever reason - it's something they really may not be prepared to deal with - they just simply don't have the tools in the emotional shed to work on this thing they view as a problem. This is only my opinion and there is no 'ONE SIZE FITS ALL' solution here. You know what's right for you. Trust your judgment whatever it may be. Whenever you decide to become Super Brony - come join us here at the Hall of Justice! lol
  7. I followed the link from the subject up in brony chatter - This was amazing. Very real. There is an old saying. Blood is thicker than water. We have friends who become as close as family but the bonds of family run deep. I really liked that. Anyone who has ever suffered from depression could relate to Luna's emotional struggle in the story.
  8. I've got to admit I don't read a lot of fanfics unless I know the person really well and enjoy their writing style. I never thought I'd write one about MLP - plenty on Yugioh - but something inside me just had to do this http://www.canterlot.com/topic/5137-freedom-isnt-free-by-cph/ I think I've got it out of my system now!
  9. Derpy is like the cow bell skit from SNL. I GOTTA HAVE MORE DERPY!!!! :D
  10. Thank you so much!!! It is appreciated!!! I was really drawing a blank!!
  11. On the MLP - Wikia there is a section that mentions the shadowbolts but I can't find fan assigned names for them. Are there a few generally accepted names for them or is it anypony's guess?
  12. My greatest fear is of something happening to one of my daughters. It is ever present in my mind as a parent. Other than that I worry about whether we are getting season 3 of MLP or not after the scary meme on my little brony today.
  13. I think there are only 100 tickets at the door - Driving up from central NC with no guarantee of entry? We need something a little closer lol
  14. I got to see 2 good friends who I haven't seen in awhile - they gave me my Dimensional Police Cardfight!! Vanguard and Nova Grappler decks back. This is a big deal - I really needed to edit that Nova Grappler deck! FOREVER!!!
