  1. I know that feeling. I took a few months away from the fandom and it took a super duper awesome con to get me interested in ponies again. Now I'm back in high gear! Anyways, welcome back to Canterlot!
  2. Heya! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! I hope you grow to love our RP just as much as you've grown to love MLP:FIM! Also, Applejack

  5. Here is an example of what the thread might look like, where each colour is a different user: (I came up with random names using this) APP IN PROGRESS; PinkLooking for: Autumn Breeze's daughter, Fairy Dancer 10 words or less: Filly, Trottingham, likes dance, shy, blank flank APP IN PROGRESS; YellowLooking for: Dipsy Drop's brother, unnamed 10 words or less: Unicorn colt, Canterlot, loudmouth, hammer cutie mark, brown mane Here is a fake link to Dipsy Drop's brother, Daring Torch, filled by Yellow. APP IN PROGRESS; OrangeLooking for: Steel Twist's wife, Snow Pie 10 words or less: Earth Pony, Nurse, Fillydelphia, good cook, compassionate I would be happy to make Dipsy Drop's brother, Purple. (Purple would now edit her post to show that Dipsy Drop's brother is being worked on by Yellow) Hi Blue! I'd be happy to app Fairy Dancer for you. I have a few questions, but I'll send them via PM. (Blue would now mark that Fairy Dancer is being worked on by Pink) Looking for: Typhoon Rhythm's foalsitter, named "Breezy" but can be changed10 words or less: Young mare or stallion, Cloudsdale, Pegasus, quiet and bookish Dipsy Drop's brother, Daring Torch, is now complete! Here is a fake link to his profile.(Purple would now edit her post to cross out her ROC and link to his completed application) Heya Yellow! Great job on Daring Torch! I'd be happy to fill Snow Pie for you. (Yellow now edits his post to reflect that Snow Pie is under construction thanks to Orange) (And so on)
  6. Rules for Requesting 1) First, tell us what your requested character's (hereafter referred to as ROC) relationship (if any) is to your existing OC (already approved OCs only, please - for now we don't want any relationships with characters that haven't already been stamped), providing a link to your existing OC's profile. You may name the character, but are not required to. Eg: Looking For: Whirligig's BFF.2) Tell us as briefly as possible (maximum 10 words) some info about the character. You can include any of the following details, but none are required. Age Gender Species Physical appearance Personality traits Residence Cutie mark Occupation Try to keep it broad; if you have a lot of specific ideas about this character it would probably best to app him/her yourself. After all, at the end of the day your ROC will belong to and be controlled by someone else. Eg (same example continued): 10 words or less: Young mare, Pegasus, weather-related job, Cloudsdale-born, reserved personality That's it! 10 words. I have chosen not to name the pony, nor her current residence, nothing about her appearance or personality. It will be up to the creator of this character to come up with those details themselves. For a better idea of what sorts of ideas we're looking for here, check out the examples in post #3. You may only post one ROC at a time. When someone agrees to fill that character, edit your post to reflect this with something like APP IN PROGRESS at the top of the post. When the app is fully processed - posted, reviewed and stamped by the SRPHS - cross out the app using the {strike} BBCode and link to the accepted application. Only once this is complete may you post a second. If no one offers to fill your request after 2 weeks, you may edit your ROC post and change the details to those of a new ROC if you wish. This does not mean you are required to delete your ROC after two weeks; this is just to allow for you to change your mind if nopony is interested in your concept. In addition; while you aren't required to, you are strongly urged to try to fill requests as well as make them - that's just good etiquette. If this becomes an issue, a cap will be placed on the number of requests an individual can make before they will be required to fill a request. If you are both posting a ROC and offering to fill someone else's at the same time, that's great! Please do so in two separate posts, as shown in the yellow example. Rules for filling requests You may only fill requests if you are already RP Certified; You must have an existing OC of your own that was made entirely by yourself. Read the app of the linked, existing OC carefully, paying close attention to any mentions of the ROC. If you see a request here that you would like to fill, quote the post in this thread to express your interest. If you have any other questions or concerns regarding the character that you wish to ask the requester, please do so via another means of communication (I.e. PM, a private chat in the board chat room, Skype, etc). This is to cut down on chatter taking place in this thread. On that note, remember that this is now YOUR character and you need to write the application and work out the details of the character's history and personality yourself. Do not offer to fill requests if you already have a character application pending approval (whether ready or WIP) in the application section. You don't want to keep the requester waiting too long when others may also be interested in that concept. Make sure that this character fits all of the restrictions that are already in place for WoE characters - there aren't any exceptions just because you're doing this as a request. The requester will post in the application thread stating that the player has their blessing to use their existing OC in the application.
  7. Contents Post 1: Introduction Post 2: Rules Post 3: Examples Post 4: List of ROCs Post 5: Reserved JIC So you've been playing your OC for a while now, and you've worked really hard to make him a well-rounded pony with a great background story and established relationships. His parents aren't dead, he has a BBBFF, and loves teasing his little sister. You've been playing with him for a while and you would love to flesh him out a little but more; add the members of his family, his friends and/or his coworkers to the world of Equestria as something more than just an NPC. You could app them yourself, but RPing with yourself isn't much fun! But how do you ask another player to create that BBBFF or to app that pesky little sister? Right here! Or maybe you're stuck for ideas (I am envious of you if you are) and have been trying to come up with a new OC for a while but have had no inspiration whatsoever. Here, you can basically adopt a character concept from somepony else and run with it - take someone else's general idea and make it your own! This thread is for 'Character Concept Sharing', specifically for characters who WOULD already have pre-established relationships in the WoE. I've discovered that it's a difficult idea to explain succinctly, so please, please, please try to read all of my long and boring chatter and look through the examples before posting because most all of it is important. At the moment, this is just a trial. As such, I have placed a LOT of restrictions on who can post and what they're allowed to ask for. If this runs smoothly and doesn't cause headaches for our beloved RPHS then it will continue merrily along and some of these restrictions may be lifted. If there are a lot of bumps and complications that can't be easily worked through, I will shut it down. If you have questions or concerns, I will try to answer them. Maybe post them in this thread, or send them to me via PM. If I can't I will of course refer you to an actual staff member. This is presently for OCs only. You may not request a sister, mother or aunt for your cast character, regardless of whether they're tier 1, 2 or 3. Please please please do not clog up this thread with too much chatter - it is going to be confusing enough as is. The only posts I want to see are Requests, offers to fill requests, and updates saying that a request has been completed. If you want to thank someone for making your ROC or ask questions about a character before agreeing to fill it, do so via PM or their profile please and thank you!
  8. Okay, that sounds good enough for me. Thanks! I'm heading out now, but will probably post the thread in a few hours if there are no further objections.
  9. Awesome, thanks Phil! Do you have any suggestions as to what I could call it instead? I was trying to think of the right word and failing (I'm a linguistics major - this could be problematic).
  10. Okay, thanks everyone for replying. I'm kinda confused now, because I've had two 'nos' two 'yeses' and a maybe. But the poll has been five yeses and a maybe. Which tells me that it's a good idea but needs to be tightened. I fully realize that the OC needs to be mostly the work of the applicant. A discussion in chat told me that collaboration isn't the best word to use and it should be worded more as a casting call type thing, since the work will not be evenly divided between two people and will be more one-sided. One person offers a very basic concept while the other does most of the 'fleshing out' work. I tried to make my understanding of this clear with the whole 'limit of 10-15 words' but I guess I failed at that. Based on your input, I've come up with the following rules and changes. - PMing will not be a necessary step. They will only be used if the creator needs to clarify details or run things by the requester. - the trade vs. request thingy will be eliminated, meaning there will only be requests. This is pretty much because I tried expanding on an example thread and realized how confusing that could make things. However, a note will be made that it is in good taste all around for everyone who requests characters to try to fill requests as well. - As for organization, eliminating the trading will help big time with that. I will also have a post at the top of the thread that I will keep updated with all of the open ROCs, in-progress ROCs, and approved ROCs with links to each specific post for ease of navigation. I know it could still get confusing and I'm happy to just go for a trial run initially; if it becomes too complicated for me or raises too many issues for the staff I would be happy to shut it down if necessary. Pretty much what's under this spoiler-tag would be copy-pasted into the first post of this thread if one were to be created. I would be happy to make Dipsy Drop's brother, Purple. (Yellow now edits his post to reflect that Snow Pie is under construction thanks to Orange) (And so on) In the first or second post, I would have something like this worked out: OPEN ROCs Typhoon Rhythm's Foalsitter for Green; (link) PENDING ROCs Fairy Dancer for Blue; link being filled by Pink. ((Link to READY Profile pending approval)) Snow Pie for Yellow; link being worked on by Orange. Completed ROCs Dipsy Drop's brother, link to post Daring Torch, filled by Yellow. ((Link to approved READY Profile)) Does this address all the issues raised thus far? Does this create more issues that I've overlooked? Is there anything I should add/remove/clarify?
  11. See, even setting up someplace where we could post lists like this would be fun. And like you said, they don't have to be joined at the hip, they can be independent characters who may choose to go their separate ways. I'd just like a centralized location where people would be able to post the 'potential' OCs they have connected to their characters.
  12. OHMIGOSHOHMIGOSHOMIGOSHOMIGOSH GUISE, this thread is gonna be so awesome! Like...all of my favourite RPers are here!
  13. I didn't even think of that as being a problem, but I understand why that would be concerning. I was thinking that this thread would be in the OOC section of the WoE board, meaning that only those who have been granted RP Certified permissions - those who already have an OC they have made by themselves and thus have shown that they know and understand the rules of the game would be able to post/participate in the collaboration thread. They wouldn't be collaborating with anyone else when making their FIRST OC, just consecutive ones.
  14. Whirligig kept her mouth shut for what may have been a personal record as she listened intently to Light Harmony's story. She was still looking around her, her wings flapping enthusiastically so that her hooves barely touched the ground. She actually waited until Light was finished, without interrupting him once, before commenting on his story with an even longer story of her own.[colour=#498995]"Well, you may not be big and famous right now, but I'm sure you will be in time - I mean, I'm quite certain you're a wonderful musician! We don't have many good musicians in Cloudsdale - we mostly watch aerobatics for entertainment, which I think is rather sad because I think music is great fun to listen to and wish we could have more good musicians and concerts. But we don't have a lovely team of Unicorns making it possible for ponies to walk on clouds like you do here, so a lot of musicians find it hard to come to Cloudsdale. I remember when they tried to get the Pony of Pop to Cloudsdale but she was too scared to - apparently she didn't trust Unicorn magic for whatever reason - um, no offence. "Oh, you poor bird! How could your parents not support you in your musical pursuits? That must have been hard; my Mum is lovely about supporting me with all my goals, has been since I was just a foal. She helped me with the science fair project that won me my cutie mark, and she worked really hard so my brother could go to weather camp and all sorts of neat things. Oh, but you're right, I'm sure your parents do love you lots and lots but they probably just wanted you to do something more fitting for a Unicorn which I think is stuff and nonsense really. I mean, yes I like Pegasusy things and so does my brother, but my Mum would have supported me in anything I'm sure, even music or acting or coffee making or birdsitting. I think I would make a good bird sitter, actually - I'd maybe even be better at birdsitting than wind designing." "And you knew a Zebra? That's so actually amazingness. I would love, love, LOVE to meet a Zebra!"[/colour] [colour=#0000FF]"Hey Light, quick question.......i dont want to seem Stereotypical but What is your favorite spell? if you dont mind me asking." [/colour] [colour=#498995]"Ooooooh, good question Bluebird! Yeah, I'm really curious now. Do you do a lot of magic? I don't do a lot of flying even though I'm a Pegasus. Well, I guess that's only half true. I fly a lot, but not very well. Like, I like flying and I can fly long distances but I don't do stunts and I'm not the fastest or the strongest and I can't do big awesomeamzing flips and spins and stuff and I like watching the Wonderbolts well enough but I've never actually dreamed of being one or even tried to get into their crazy-big academy."[/colour]

  16. Thread created: located here! So I was working away the other day on an app for an OC, and as you do I gave this OC lots of history and backstory in an attempt to make her a more well-rounded character. For me, this included giving her a husband and kids. At this point, the names in her app are just that: names. They do not belong to anyone as an OC, nor are they cast characters. Now I know I have a few options; I can keep hubby and kiddies as NPCs, I can app them later myself, or I can try to convince someone else to app them for me. This thread is regarding the final option. See, another character I've made I made in collaboration with another friend. She had an OC and was looking for somepony to app her OCs older-sister. She asked me to and gave me some ideas for a few key features - quiet, overbearing, etc. and I basically took those few ideas and made a character out of them. I'm really glad I did that as I ended up coming up with a really unique character who I probably wouldn't have made if I hadn't been asked to. What's more, exploring the dynamic between these two sisters is going to be far more enjoyable and far more in the spirit of RP with two different players controlling the characters. But sometimes it's hard to ask people. I mean, I haven't been around long and while I'm already having a blast and feel like I've been around forever 'cause y'all are just so welcoming, I feel strange approaching people to ask them to app a supporting character for my OC out of blue, especially when I don't know whether or not this character would suit the player I'm asking. Would it be possible to, in the OOC section of the WoE board most likely, set up a sort of character exchange that would make character collaborations like this more possible? I have an idea of how it would work and would be happy to try to organize it myself. Basically, players would post their initial idea for a character without going into too much detail (maybe a limit of fifteen words), as well as how this character would be related to their existing OC(s). It would also probably work better if people would be willing to either trade or are just looking for a request. A trade would mean "you app this character for me, I'll app that character for you." while a request would be more "I don't want any new OCs right now, but I'm looking for someone who does." If someone is interested in the collab, then the rest of the planning would take place via PM and the request would be struck out to show that it's been filled. After that, all other communication would be done via PM (or skype or something else) and then the OC application(s) would go through the normal application process. The one apping the character would simply state that they have the permission of the other to include their OC in the application. It would look something like this (where each colour is a different player): I know it has the potential to get chaotic, so if anyone has any suggestions for how this idea could be improved, please let me know. I think I would try to keep a directory in the first post of unfilled characters, and there would be a limit of one or two (probably just one starting out) unfilled requests per user at a time. I'd be happy to try to organize it myself, this thread is basically just suggesting it and trying to find out whether or not other people would find this useful or if it's just me. I'm especially interested in what the staff think of something like this.
  17. Whirligig was beyond pleased when two more ponies came in to join the small circle that was forming in the corner of the playground. The first was a young colt with a sandy-cloured coat and a green mane - he eventually introduced himself as Skewer. He was absolutely adorable, the way he spoke with big long words that seemed, to Whirligig, to be far beyond his young years as he spoke of conflict resolution and problem-solving. It was all she could do to refrain herself from trying to pinch his cute little cheeks, knowing that the colt was probably a proud lad who wouldn't appreciate the girly attention.Instead, Whirligig directed her attention back to the playground, just in time to see a pony she recognized as the pony who typically delivered her mail. He was smiling to himself as he gently gave a young filly a push down the slide. He seemed very friendly, maybe he would come over and introduce himself. Meanwhile, Razor and Glimmer were exchanging a quick banter not unlike the playful back-and-forth she commonly exchanged with her own older brother. She smiled as she thought of Stormwing and briefly allowed herself to wonder what he was up to on this gorgeous autumn afternoon. Probably in Trottingham trying to get some poor mare to go on a date with him, or having a drink with his friends down there now that he would be finished his weather duties. It had been a few days since she'd last seen him. [colour=#498995]"Well your bow is lovely, and I think you're very lucky to have a big brother who is willing to stand up for you. My big brother would have done the same for me,"[/colour] she said to the young griffon before watching her run back to the playground. She turned back to the group. The mailpony had indeed joined them, and introduced himself as Care Package. [colour=#498995]"Hey, I know you! You're the pony who delivers my mail! We've never met before, Care Package, but my name's Whirligig and it is an absolute pleasure to finally get to meet you. You seem like a very kind-hearted pony - I saw what you did for that little filly over there on the playground - how very thoughtful of you."[/colour] [colour=#FF0000]"At times I wished more griffons lived in cities like these. Then I probably wouldn't feel ganged up on." [/colour] [colour=#498995]"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, we don't mean to gang up on you like this. Truly, we do get griffons around here occasionally. I mean, they sometimes come for Junior Speedsters flight camps, and of course we have one of the best flying schools in Equestria - my Mum's parents sent her here to learn how to fly when she was just a filly, though it wasn't much worth the effort 'cause Granddad ended up being the one to teach her anyways. She liked Cloudsdale so much that she stayed, so it wasn't completely futile. Anyways, my point is that I have seen griffons before, we just don't see your kind very often and we don't mean to stare but it's just so unusual for us. You will forgive us, won't you? I mean, we're only curious and aren't at all trying to make you feel uncomfortable."[/colour] she stopped, suddenly realizing that her tangent probably wasn't helping to put the bird at ease. Much to her relief, Musi asked the group about any events that would be on that evening that she might be able to see. Whirligig wracked her brain trying to think of something. [colour=#498995]"Well, we do have a community theatre, but they don't usually have anything playing on weeknights. Well, they did last week but that was only because some famous pony was in town. They may have a film reel running, though, and sometimes those moving-picture movies can be fun as long as the film doesn't break. I've been to one or two showings where that happened and funny as it was it sort of ruined the fun. I think the Wonderbolts are out touring right now, so no luck on that front. Though there may be an amateur flight group performing in the Cloudesseum - I think the Quicksilvers or something like that may be in town. As far as music goes, since that seems like it might be more your style, we don't have much of a musical culture up here - it's mostly just weather and aerobatics - but sometimes, later in the evenings Toothy's bar gets one or two ponies to play a gig or two, so that could be something fun to do."[/colour] She turned to the yellow-maned one who seemed to have grown pensive. [colour=#498995]"Flashbomb, you live in Cloudsdale, don't you? Do you have any suggestions?"[/colour]
  18. Now I wish I had a cute little kid character - to the drawing board!
  19. Hi hi hi, welcome to our little site . I've seen quite a few people lately who discovered the show due to it being on Netflix. And I know just how you feel about not being able to think about anything else, too.
  20. Was getting worried there for a moment...

  21. Hiya Virox! Welcome to Canterlot.com! Wow, another Rarity fan? There seem to be more and more of you lately. She is indeed fabulous! This is an awesome site for fans of MLP, especially those who like RPing, though that's in my rather biased opinion . I hope to see you around the site some more very soon!
  22. Whelp, I'm at it again. I think this is a real actual disorder that I should probably get looked into. Update Log (all times are local times for Sydney, Australia): May 6th, 1:21 AM - Application posted as [WIP] May 6th, 3:50 PM - Edited to add picture of cutie mark. Apologies for less than admirable artistic abilities. May 6th, 6:30 PM - Added picture of Vanilla Latte herself. May 12th, 11:16 AM - Made a few minor additions and changes to various sections, namely "Appearance", "Residence", "Occupation" and "History." Changed application status to [Ready]
  23. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Vanilla Latte - her parents gave her the name due to her colouring, but it soon became apparent that she took the name to heart, as it is also very much related to her special talent. Sex: Female Age: Mare Species: Earth Pony Eye colour: A dusty robin egg blue, her favourite colour. Coat: Latte's coat is a soft beige off-white, almost the colour of vanilla ice cream. Because she spends her days in the café, she is always wearing a blue apron, so much so that it is odd to see her without it. Mane/Tail: Her mane and tail are both a very light brown in colour, similar to the colour of a light milk chocolate. Her mane is rather short and choppy, and it doesn't quite reach her back. She typically wears a headband to keep it away from her face. Her tail is also quite short and is also cut to be layered and uneven. Physique: Latte is a little bit shorter than the average pony, and slightly stout - she owns a café after all, and an important part of her job is sampling all the tasty items that are on the menu. Residence: Vanilla Latte considers herself a purebred Trottingham pony, despite her mother's Canterlot parentage. She has lived here her whole life and would never even consider living anywhere else. She doesn't even like to travel all that much. She and her family dwell in the rooms above the café, but she and her husband hope to soon purchase a larger house together not far from the center of town. Occupation: Latte and her husband own and operate a café on the corner of Tatterstall Drive and Stampford Street. To the tourists, it's one of many cafés dotted among the shops and stalls throughout Trottingham, but to the locals, it is a hubbub of gossip and chatter about anything from the weather to local politics to heated debates and discussions about the meaning of life, love and happiness. On top of owning and operating her own business, Vanilla Latte holds a seat on the Trottingham town council. Cutie Mark: Latte's cutie mark is a steaming cup & saucer, next to which sits two vanilla beans and a vanilla blossom. Not only does this represent her talent in a very literal sense - making and serving delicious coffee, but Latte also feels that the blooming flower is somewhat symbolic. She feels that sitting down together for a cuppa and a conversation is a great way to nurture a friendship and ultimately help a community to grow and blossom. She earned her cutie mark on a rainy afternoon when she managed to convince her mother to let her host a real tea party. Oh, she'd had plenty of pretend tea parties with her friends at recess at school or at her house afterwards so she felt she knew everything she needed to know about hosting one for guests. She invited all her friends from school over along with their mums, and with her mother, Careful Cream's help, she prepared scones and muffins to go along with the selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and apple juice that she would share with her guests. To say that she organized and hosted the whole party on her own wouldn't be entirely truthful - her mother did help her a lot. But she enjoyed the experience and so did her guests - the tea was steeped perfectly, the coffee was brewed just right, the scones were delicious and, most importantly everyone had fun. As the party came to a close and her friends and their families left, thanking her for hosting such a fabulous get together and making such delicious treats, her cutie mark appeared on her flank. Though she didn't have the presence of mind at the time to see this, she later realized that there was more to the occasion than just making the delicious coffee and scones - she had brought a community together simply using tea and coffee and refreshments. She soon realized that this was her calling, her destiny; to bring the ponies of Trottingham closer together as a community using tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits. History: Latte was born and raised in Trottingham - her father's family has been a part of the community for generations - they own and operate one of the largest and oldest vineyards north of the city. It remains in the family and is now run by her aunt; Dad's sister. Her father, Concordance, didn't want to work on the vineyard and preferred to move into and work in town, rather than in its northern outskirts. He became a respected barrister in Trottingham. He, of course, had to leave the town and go to Canterlot to attend law school, and it was while he was there that he met Careful Cream, a nurse in the city's hospital and his roommate's cousin. Upon Concordance's graduation, the couple returned to Trottingham; Careful Cream had no difficulty getting a job as a triage nurse in Trottingham General Hospital. The two raised their family in the small town, having three children of which Vanilla Latte was the eldest. Like many first-borns, Vanilla quickly developed a take-charge attitude and a strong sense of being 'responsible' for other ponies. As a filly in school, she never had a hard time making friends initially; she had a friendly and open personality and displayed a genuine interest in the ponies around her. Perhaps this interest was a bit too enthusiastic - she may have shared one or two (or six or seven) too many of her friends secrets and fears with her other friends; not realizing, for example, that Goldenvine didn't want the entire class to know that she was deathly afraid of parties with lots of balloons. Furthermore, a lot of the ponies she spent the most time with often complained that she was too bossy. She, of course didn't see it that way, she merely thought she had good ideas that needed to be shared and put into action; it would be far better for her to pretend to be the Supreme Princess of all of Trottingham and for her friends to pretend to be the royal advisors, right? She thought it unfair that her parents and teachers were always telling her to only be responsible for her own actions and to mind her own business. When she got older, she was better at working out what limits could and couldn't be pushed. She still had natural leadership abilities as well as an extroverted and more friendly nature, so that later in school she actually became quite popular. She also proved to have inherited her father's administrative skills, though she had no desire to speak of to take those skills into a law career. When the bookstore that used to sit on the corner of Tatterstall and Stampford, a very central location in the city close to town hall and the city square, closed down, she saw an opportunity she couldn't refuse. Her parents and other family helped her to raise the funds she would need to purchase it and open a café. As she and much of her family already had quite a reputation in town, she was able to use that as a bit of a springboard. Her friends came to her café to support her, then they came back with their friends because the food, the coffee, and the atmosphere was so inviting. Initially, she did most of the work herself, from designing menus and preparing food to arranging the décor to balancing the books at the end of the day. She soon discovered that trying to do everything was too much for even her to manage on her own and began advertising for more than the two employees she'd hired a when opening. Latte ended up meeting her husband when the shy stallion applied for a job as cook in the little café. The couple has now been married for over a decade, and they now have two young fillies of their own. Vanilla Latte is still rather young, but she likes being busy, she likes bringing people together and she loves her hometown with a fierce passion. When her business became stable and firmly well-established, she ran in the municipal election for a position on the city council, and was easily elected. It is no secret that she dreams of one day becoming mayor of the town, but for now she's happy to serve on the council, run her restaurant and wait for her foals to grow up before running for the position. Character Summary: Vanilla Latte is still a bit of a busybody - she likes knowing what other ponies in the area are getting up to and this means that she's easy to talk to. When you go into her little corner shop she won't just ask you for your order; she'll ask you for your life's story. If you're a visitor to the resort town, she'll make sure there's someone around to help you find your way. And if you're a new resident, that's even better - she'll welcome you in openly and offer to help you get anything and everything you might need to settle in. If you're a local, she'll remember your name, face, and usual order (if you have one), and ask for updates on what sort of things have been going on in your life recently. Though her interest in others is genuinely friendly and unthreatening, she still has a reputation for being a bit of a gossip. If there's a detail about yourself that you don't want the whole town to know about, it would probably be best not to share it with Vanilla Latte. She's loyal to her friends though, and despite some minor hiccups she's managed to earn the trust of a few select ponies, namely ones who have known her since foalhood. If you specify that you are telling her something in the strictest confidence she will honour that, though it won't really be an easy task for her. Owning and operating your own business, raising two young and energetic foals, being a wife, and serving a position on the town's council doesn't leave much spare time for hobbies - in fact, Latte really has none that come to mind. On the rare occasion that she does get an hour or two to herself, she'll spend that hour in the bathtub before it's back to work. She authentically loves every minute of her busy life and wouldn't trade it in for all the coffee in Equestria. {Disclaimer: All names mentioned are made-up in order to give the character a more complete background; they do not belong to cast members nor existing OCs}
  24. [colour=#0000cd]"Yeah, yeah. Derpy came and, uhh, visited me. As you can see, it went just as expected."[/colour] [colour=#339999]"Terrible, isn't it?" [/colour] Cherry Berry shook her head sadly as she surveyed the damage. Trust Derpy she thought. The fact that the grey pegasus seemed to think she'd be able to fix everything also seemed to be cause for concern. She tried not to worry about her too much - at first she had gotten angry whenever Derpy messed something up, but now she was just as used to it as any other resident of Ponyville. [colour=#0000cd]"How'd the audition go?"[/colour] [colour=#9B145B]"Well, I thought it was my best performance yet,"[/colour] Chibsy replied, [colour=#9B145B]"But the director didn't seem to think it was good enough for his production of Clover and Platinum. His loss, I say."[/colour]She had tried, in fact she truly felt like it had been one of her better auditions. She had recited her lines with true expression, expressed raw emotion and had done her best to make the audience laugh. Wasn't her fault the director had the sense of humour of a block of wood and couldn't see true talent when it was staring him in the nose. She knew she shouldn't grumble so, but it just made her so angry sometimes. She was from Manehatten! Her mother was famous among theatrical producers down south! Granted, not for her comedic talents, but sure Cherry Berry had to have some sort of dramatic streak in her genetics somewhere. [colour=#9B145B]"Ugh! I need sugar therapy,"[/colour] she muttered finally, starting to look over what remained of Bon Bon's selection of sweet treats. [colour=#8b4513]"Excuse me miss, um, Cherry? How much for a jar of jam?"[/colour] Cherry Berry had been so engrossed in her own thoughts about disasters on wings, the difficulties of showpony business, and the candies she knew to be the most delicious she'd ever taste that she had almost completely missed the cream coloured pony's question. Oh, right, jam. She examined the pony curiously, trying to remember whether or not she'd seen her before. She seemed vaguely familiar, as though she had shopped at Ponyville Markets before. The brown-maned mare seemed to know Cherry Berry's name at the very least, or at least part of it. Oh, blast it! Chibsy had always been terrible at matching names with faces; may as well give her the whole sales spiel.[colour=#9B145B]"Well, it's 5 bits for a little jar, or 8 bits for a big one. The yellow-coloured jams are made with Rainiers - they're pretty sweet. This one here was made with sour cherries and it's probably my best selling-jam. Earned my cutie mark with that recipe. I only have a few jars of apple-cherry jam left, those ones there, and this one here is a lovely blend of cherries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. A Cherry-Berry jam, if you will!"[/colour] Unlike her friend Bon Bon, Chibsy lacked any sort of charm, as a salespony or otherwise. She was actually rather mediocre at it, though she liked to think otherwise. In reality her products sold themselves - her cherry jam rivaled her aunt's for best-tasting preserve in Equestria and that kept the ponies of Ponyville coming back for more. Though she couldn't really rival the Carrot family for good carrots, her vegetables also held their own in the marketplace and were grown with hooves that were just as caring and with the natural green aptitude that nearly all Earth Ponies possessed. Why, even in this case the pegasus mare couldn't even wait for her to set up shop before enquiring about the prices of her fine products. Yep, must be because of her naturally charming personality at work!
