  1. Following Seaspray and Wind Rider, Hookline made sure to keep up while looking back from time to time. Maybe Whisperpaw really did need just a little alone time, but he wanted to make sure the poor pony wasn't left in the dust as they continued on. A question caught his attention, however, causing him to look back over at Seaspray. "I'm not picky, but a cafe does sound kinda nice." He told them with a shrug, not preferring any option over another. If Wind Rider wanted to go to the cafe, that'd be perfectly fine with him. The mare's demeanor seemed to suddenly change, which confused Hookline slightly. Unlike Whisperpaw though, this was a good change since she was beaming. How do they change so quickly? Whisperpaw from fine to scared stiff (literally), then Seaspray from shy to extremely happy. Maybe she liked cafes a lot? Apparently Hookline had more to learn when it came to social interactions. The thought made him chuckle quietly and Seaspray's smile was becoming contagious, but then a galloping sound from behind interrupted. "Oh, Whisperpaw, is a cafe alright? It's probably got a nice atmosphere." He added the last part as a way to entice him, just in case the unicorn was still feeling a bit shaken up.
  2. Welcome! Awesome art (your pony is adorable xD), I hope you enjoy the forum!
  3. That last episode really gave us some nice background pegasi, haha. Pegasus: Flex (A.K.A. Steroid McHuge), obviously. xD Unicorn: Lyra Earth Pony: Rose
  4. Whisperpaw was not doing too well ever since the pegasus arrived, although Seaspray tried to calm him down a bit. It didn't seem to help much unfortunately, and his owl continued to try and comfort him. Hookline was a bit confused as to what was going on, given how nice Wind Rider had been thus far. There was nothing intimidating about him in the slightest, in his opinion. Whisperpaw needed time apparently, demonstrated by Espitola hooting at them even more. "Uh, well I could definitely go for some food. I'm starved." He claimed with a sheepish smile as his stomach made a noise. Come to think of it, he had completely forgotten to eat breakfast since he wanted to get such an early start on his day. Food might help calm everyone's nerves as well, which still puzzled Hookline. There was no point in awkwardly asking about it now, however, so he simply kept it to himself.
  5. Welcome! You get extra cool points for the 'Dinkleberg' avatar. xD Oh, and not to mention the tattoo, that looks awesome!
  6. Welcome, I hope you enjoy the forums. Throw some of your art up here if you'd like, mutated kumquat or not! xD
  7. So Hookline's suspicion was somewhat correct after all! He was worried that he'd made a fool of himself there. "Forest ranger, sounds excitin'. And yep, you got it." The last part of his statement was referring to Wind Rider's question about his occupation, which made Hookline stand a bit taller out of pride. "I actually own an aquarium down by the docks, but fishin' is a hobby. I try to teach it to the little ones when they're interested." He informed the pegasus, just to clarify that being a fisherpony wasn't necessarily his job. It was then that Hookline noticed Seaspray wasn't next to him anymore, but was hiding behind him. She was beginning to feel more comfortable, apparently, since she was slowly coming forward. If not for this, Hookline probably would have said something, but he didn't think pointing out her timidness aloud would help her confidence, so he stayed quiet about that. Her acceptance of his invitation, however, was met with a wide grin. "Oh, that's great! I'm sure the fish will love seein' a new face!" His enthusiasm was obvious in his voice, which replaced his usual neutral tone. Nothing excited him more than to show others the wonders of the sea, even if they already appreciated it. Speaking of which, Hookline hadn't invited Wind Rider! "Durin' a day-off, you can come down to the aquarium as my guest too, if you'd like." Hookline was unsure how interested the pegasus would be, but he figured that he may as well ask just in case!
  8. Smile is one of my favorite songs, simply because of how happy it is and it's message. It's cheesy as can be, but who doesn't like seeing their friends smile? Also, dat beat. xD Even though I don't, listening to that song makes me want to say hi to everyone I pass by haha.
  9. I'll submit one of Hookline when I get the chance, I like this idea.
  10. Welcome, I hope you enjoy the forums! My personal favorite is Fluttershy. xD (but after the song Smile, Smile, Smile, Pinkie is a favorite too haha)
  11. The comments from both Seaspray and Whisperpaw made Hookline feel overjoyed. Not only did they both sound interested, but they even sounded like potential visitors! "I do consider myself lucky. Doing what I love everyday doesn't seem like a job, honestly." Thinking about his duties, his occupation wasn't all that difficult. Taking care of the fish was easy to him, it was the business-side that threw him for a loop. "I get a fair amount, but I'm always looking for more ways to bring in people. I'm no business pony." He admitted with an embarrassed chuckle. "Maybe the two of you would like to visit sometime...? Uh, free of charge of course! As guests of mine." Inviting people and then forcing them to pay a fee wouldn't sit well with Hookline, which is why he made sure to add that last part. Part of the reason he was such a bad business pony was because he cared more about sharing the wonders of the ocean with everypony than about the money he could make off it. He always made enough bits, but he could probably be making more as well. As long as others enjoyed themselves though, he was more than content. Whisperpaw answered his question also, essentially telling Hookline what he guessed based on the context he used the job's title. It seemed similar to Hookline's job, although it was more all encompassing and didn't confine him to a single building. Despite his love of all water life, Hookline focused on taking care of mainly those living near his aquarium, since that's what customers would see. "Sounds like you enjoy your work too." He told the stallion with a grin, before being distracted by a familiar shadow. A pegasus pony drifted down to them, simply giving a nice greeting. The familiarity was bothering him somewhat, and he was beginning to feel bad for it. "I'm sorry, but have we met? I'm terrible with faces." That was a bit of a white lie, because Hookline was actually quite good at remembering ponies. There was just something that Hookline was missing, and he couldn't put his hoof on it.
  12. (OOC: Didn't even realize it's been my turn, sorry for the wait! Hookline will be leaving since the vest is mended and to make way for others to join. Thanks, it was fun! ) Guiding Light and Apple Bumpkin introduced themselves, and the mare had a lot to say (much to Hookline's delight). The fisherpony could empathize with Guiding Light, as he understood how difficult carrying on a conversation could be. Apple Bumpkin went on about visiting her cousins and about her reason for being in the shop. It was reassuring to know that no one was particularly antsy to put their order in, because even though Hookline was patient as can be, he knew not all ponies were the same as him. The mention of Rarity's status peeked his interest, considering that was mainly the reason he had come down as well. "I had heard the same, it's why I had to visit the shop. My vest pocket ripped and I didn't know where else to go." Not knowing how to sew wasn't a big deal, at least not until you actually need something stitched up. Rarely did Hookline find himself in dire need of these talents, but in situations like this, he was grateful to know someone like Rarity was around. He was getting his vest fixed and a suit design. Technically, the vest was fixed already, as Rarity came over to inform him. It brought Hookline much joy to see his vest in a fine condition. The pocket was mended, and could once again be used for carrying his bait. "Thank you Rarity, this vest and I have seen some good times. Would be a shame to get rid of it on a account of a silly pocket." Hookline put on the vest, touching the pocket just to be sure, then inspecting the rest of the vest with pride. She hadn't done anything to it other than fix the pocket, but nonetheless he felt it was looking better than ever. "I'll be sure to check back on that other order later. For now, I'm going to go fishing." The last part of the statement was said with a lot of enthusiasm, ready to test out the 'improved' vest of his. Plus, he needed try to see if he could catalog any more of the marine biology around Ponyville. There wasn't much in comparison to Hoofington obviously, but if he had missed anything, he wanted to make sure to find it. Before leaving, he made sure to turn around and give his acquaintances a slight smile. "It was nice meeting you both as well." The noble and Rarity's sister seemed to be having a conversation, or ending one, so he thought it best not to disturb them. He then headed out of the boutique, a spring in his step as he went back to work.
  13. (OOC: I'm so happy finals are finally over. xD) Cleaning the shore didn't take very long with both Hookline and Whisperpaw assisting the mare, and it was definitely a gratifying job. Now that all the trash was gone, Hookline knew that others would be able to enjoy the beach more, and (more importantly) the marine life wouldn't be harmed by litter that drifted into the sea. Seaspray and Whisperpaw both cared a lot for animals, which Hookline could relate with and respected. Heck, his whole life revolved around animals, or more specifically, marine animals. "Animal conservationist? Meanin' you help animals, right?" In context, the title made sense, but he wanted to make sure he wasn't misinterpreting the occupation somehow. "That's a respectable job. I own an aquarium down by the Hoofington docks, so I always got to make sure the fish are happy campers. There's no tanks either, just a glass wall and the sea." Hookline enjoyed describing his beloved lifestyle, grinning the whole time he spoke. He knew most people didn't understand his fascination with the ocean and the life within it, but the fisherpony felt as though these two might.
  14. The stallion chuckled at being called 'sir.' "You can just call me Hookline. Sir sounds too...fancy." She did accept his help though (well, kind of), so the fisherpony nodded in reply. It really was a shame that people were so messy at the beach. The act of simply throwing away your own trash was an easy task, but apparently not for someponies. Hookline sighed as he looked around the shore, thinking that maybe someponies felt too busy to deal with such mundane tasks like cleaning after themselves. "If only more ponies were patient enough to take time and clean up." It didn't annoy him, so much as make him feel disappointed. Didn't people have more respect for the beach than this? At least this unicorn felt obligated to help, though. Hookline gave a slight smile, surprised that an owl would help clean as well. It was an interesting animal, not because of its species but because of its personality. It wasn't often that you saw an owl following around a pony, after all. "The name's Hookline, by the way." The fisherpony added, glancing at the stallion before beginning to pick up some of the trash lying about.
  15. Rarity didn't exactly sound convinced in what she was saying, as she replied to Hookline's earlier compliment to Sweetie Belle. It was soon after that she smiled and began speaking to him again, her tone changed to more of the usual 'classiness,' for lack of a better word. The cerulean stallion nodded, slipping off his vest and handing it to the fashionista. Noise from behind him caused Hookline to glance back for a moment. Not only was Blueblood there, but apparently two more ponies had entered as well. Yes, Hookline had the right to take as much time as he wanted as a customer, but he hated the idea of making others wait on his account. He needed the vest before he could leave, however, so he would patiently wait before exiting. The two new customers looked interesting, one a young unicorn and the other an earth pony mare. The mare had a red mane similar to his own, except it was lighter and obviously didn't have a white streak. Wanting to give Rarity some room to work, he turned around and trotted to the other ponies. "She's just fixin' up my vest, it shouldn't be too long. Sorry for the wait, I'm Hookline. Hoofington."The fisherpony introduced, not necessarily speaking to one person in particular. He made sure to pause in between his name and his town, simply because he didn't want them to think that was part of his name as well (although Hookline Hoofington did have a ring to it). If he needed to wait for his vest, might as well mingle a little to pass the time. Mingling wasn't his strong suit, but it was better than standing around doing nothing.
  16. Hookline nodded as she assured him the suit wouldn't be an issue. The more he thought about wearing some kind of fancy suit rather than his usual wet-suit, the more outlandish it sounded. Me? Fancy? It was absurd, and yet Rarity was currently helping to make it a reality. The fisherpony hadn't much experience with boutiques given his limited wardrobe, so getting measured was a bit odd. He stiffened up as she took the measurements, not knowing what kind of posture was correct 'measure-taking' posture. Glancing over at Sweetie Belle and the other stallion, Hookline was relieved to see he was simply enjoying tea thanks to Rarity's sister. "She seems helpful." He commented to Rarity after turning his attention back to her, giving a slight nod for emphasis. To have such a kind little sister was surely something to be proud of.
  17. Truly this was the definition of how siblings should act toward one another. Normally Hookline would see sisters and brothers fighting among each other, but Rarity was completely accepting of her help and even insisted that Sweetie Belle go take care of the waiting customer. This made Hookline feel much less worried about making him wait, so he began to loosen up a bit. "Thanks." He nodded when she mentioned the pocket, and then looked down at himself. "Should I take off my wet-suit?" He realized that he still had other clothing on, and wasn't quite sure if it would mess with her measurements or not. The wet-suit was made to be tight though, so he doubted it would matter. She was the professional, however, meaning it was probably better to ask rather than assume. "I appreciate the help. I just don't want to embarrass myself at the palace." Hookline admitted, already feeling embarrassed just talking about it. He started drawing an imaginary circle on the floor with his hoof, trying to take his mind off of the inevitable trip while waiting for Rarity's instruction.
  18. Welcome! I actually looked up that review from CR that you mentioned and watched it. He had some really good points, and I'm glad he's encouraging people to not judge it based on the fact that it's about ponies. xD Thanks for sharing that.
  19. "Nice to meet you Sweetie Belle." Hookline made sure to say as she quickly ran off toward the fancy stallion. Her sister, Sweetie Belle, wasn't an assistant apparently, but the little filly seemed to have high hopes of getting the position. It was refreshing to see such a close pair of sisters. Rarity overwhelmingly joyed at her sister's presence, although she wasn't outright against it, so that had to mean something. The way she responded to him in regard to the new customer was much different, however. Though polite as she may speak to Hookline, it was obvious Rarity was aiming the harsh tone to the other stallion. "I wouldn't think you were rude if you did so, but since you insist, thanks for the help." Hookline nodded his head and listened to Rarity's question, pondering for a moment over it. What did he think for a design? This fisherpony knew next to nothing when it came to fashion and he doubted any idea given by him would help the process. Nonetheless, he decided to give his thoughts since Rarity probably wouldn't have asked if she didn't need his input. "You can design it however you think will look best, but I'd rather it didn't look too...flashy." While he had no issue with fancy clothes, anything that sparkled would not suit him, more likely than not. A simple pony at heart, Hookline preferred that he didn't walk into a room and literally blind people. "Other than that, feel free to make it how you see fit." Much to his own surprise, this talk of the new outfit had him excited. At first Hookline had questioned whether he should really go to the palace at all, and now he felt confident that (once the suit was finished) he could proudly walk in there with his head held high. "And if you could fix my pocket as well, time permitting." The cerulean stallion politely reminded her with a chuckle, wanting to be sure it was not forgot in all the excitement.
  20. Welcome to the forum! Everyone is friendly, and even if you don't RP there's plenty of things to do. I hope you find the forum to be as cool as it looks, haha.
  21. Hookline was happy to see that his new request pleased the designer, and she was making quite a few good points. The few suits she had looked good, there was no doubt, but she then explained how a custom-made suit could be designed just for him. The only difference was that he'd have to pay more and wait a couple days. Money was not an issue (considering Hookline rarely spent it on anything), and patience was his "talent," so the option seemed obvious. "If you can somehow make elites envious of this fisherpony, well, then Rarity you have a deal. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to help me, it really is-" As Hookline was raising his hoof to shake hers, he stopped when he noticed a filly next to Rarity. She appeared to be an assistant of sorts, especially with those big glasses of hers. "Oh, well thank you. I'm Hookline." The stallion looked at her for a moment, then back at Rarity. "Is this your assistant?" The question didn't sound confused or worried, but simply curious. The curiosity did turn to confusion, however, as there was a sudden *thump* from behind him. Hookline turned around to see a well dressed stallion, who he could only assume was a regular of Rarity's. "I can wait if you need to speak with him." This statement was directed to Rarity as well. If an important customer just arrived, Hookline didn't want to be in the way. There wasn't much else for him to do the rest of the day anyways, so he wouldn't mind waiting his turn.
