  1. So, after a review by Mask of Data revealed a lot of issues I needed to adress I've had something of a rewrite. Any opinions would be grately apreciated.
  2. Oh my gosh! More new ponies! YAY! Hope you have a wonderful stay here Archi
  3. Hmm, This is very interesting! You're style is strongly developed and, while lacking analytical standpoint , still remains concise to the character design and translatable archetypes. Clearly your work is influenced by anime and video game art, yet many pieces feel psychedelic, almost surrealist in nature. The 'acid trip' images are of particular interest. Did you find yourself mapping these out carefully? Or allowing autonomy to guide the creative prosess? Also I'm curious as to whether you've had any formal training, even as a short course or night classes? So far so good I recken Keep up the good work hun!!
  4. GLEEEEEE THANKYOUSSS! Omygosh gota get my gala dress ready
  5. Oki doki! I've snipped the Laughter-day joke and reworked the two parts that were causing issues. Brain helped me out on this too from chat so fingers crossed I've cracked it this time
  6. 'Appropriate' changes made, enjoy Edit: Totaly worth it
  7. Yeah, who needs Enagon when you have laughter! They will rule the univerce with parties.
  8. As a foal she was a good singer by a child's standards. But that doesn't mean she still is, especially given that she's dedicated her life to cookery. It should be realitivly easy to add something else into the background around her apprenticeship, about her creations being inspired by music perhapase? (edit: this bit now added ^_^) A FireStable/FireBarn/'whateverwecallit' is like a fire station, only with ponies The idea being that it's an old rundown building, close to a scenic part of town but out of the way of the center. We had thought that Maple's great-great-grandfather was one of the last firemen to work in that station before it closed and he purchased the building with the intent of turning it into a museum dedicated to the history of the fire service. Sadly this never came to pass and the building has sat unused for many years. I can easily add this into the discription, if you like?
  9. Okie dokie! Made those corections you pointed too Tales, her musical side is alot less generalised now. I haven't yet edited out the timeline as it would take a rather more thought out rewrite.
  10. [ Pony Related Character ] Name:Maple Scoops Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Unicorn Pelt Color: Coffee Cream Mane/Tail Color & Style: Swirling mane and tail, striped with light and dark yellow, like the colours of Honey. Eye Colour: Forest Green Cutie Mark: A Treble Clef made of runny chocolate. It symbolises her love for music and her tallent for making sweet deserts. She also percives it as a tie between the emotions that both music and foods can conjure. Physique:Short and homely Residence:Canterlot Occupation:Until recently was a pudding chef at a Canterlot restaurant. Now is attempting to start her own small business along with her partner. Motivation: Wants to create food that makes ponies as happy as music makes her. Through a recent inheritance they have come into possession of the perfect location for her dream business, an Ice-cream cafe and live music bar. Presently her short term goal is to see the 'Jam & Cream' open and ready for business. Likes:Ice cream, deserts, Music, independence in achievement (willing to accept help, but would never openly ask someone to do something if she could do it herself.) Dislikes:Snootiness and dishonesty. Character Summary: Jovial and eager to put her mind to the task since quitting her professional job, Maple has taken to the self employed life like a duck to water. She is the heart of the enterprise, having the practical experience both in the kitchen and on the business books. While she sometimes wilts under her partner's determined and dominant nature, her sharp tongue puts her on an equal footing and their interaction can sometime seem like a tennis match of whit. She yearns for lifestyle and luxuries that her old job afforded her but her own determination to succeed, with her stallion's single-minded persuasion, keeps her going. Having recently inherited an old ramshackle Firestation, the couple intend to start their own cafe and music lounge. Close to a scenic part of town but out of the way of the center, it had been bought by Maple's great-great-grandfather, one of the last firemen to work in that station before it closed. Sadly the intention of turning it into a museum never came to pass, and it has sat empty and unused for many decades. Maple has some reserves still about this endeavour, given that several issues have already crept up on the budding business owners. But each problem that presents itself gives her short term goals, making the tasks all the more manageable. Background:Raised the metropolis of Manehatten, Maple showed a flare for cooking from an early age, especially sweet desserts. Oddly, though this seemed to be her special talent, the young unicorn was actually far more passionate about music. Convinced she was destined for a career of the glitz and glam, she joined every music club in her school, determined to try every instrument going until she found the one that was right for her. Of course, this only resulted in her becoming one of the worse musicians in the school, the definitive master of none. Her boisterous forthright attitude and dreadful lack of patience made her infamous among staff and pupils alike. One good thing that emerged from this flurry of dud notes and broken drumsticks was her voice. Having no instruments at home to practice with (And having broken all the strings on the violin the school had loaned her) she spent most of her free time singing. Vocally the foal wasn't so bad either. Even the head of the choir was surprised at how aspiring the daughter of a grocery merchant had become in such a short time. However, for Maple something always felt out of place when she was singing for more than just herself. Practicing in front of friends was fine, even stage rehearsals didn't go so badly. Unable to put her hoof on the issue, she went ahead and signed up for the school talent show. Confident and rearing to please the crowd, Maple walked out from behind the curtain, approached the microphone stand... and froze. The music was played for several moments without her voice, lodged somewhere deep in her throat. Panic caught up, the little foal was stood in the middle of brightly lit stage with hundreds of expectant eyes watching her. Bursting into tears she ran from the stage and hid in the prop-room. Eventually she was happened upon by a close friend from the music club. The colt didn't seem in the best mood, but proffered some advice. 'Everyone freezes up, it happens. You know that you can sing, I know that you can sing, you don't need their validation." Determined not to hide out the evening, Maple gathered her wits she went to the kitchens to help with the buffet. As she looked down the row of food, Maple noticed other ponies from her class tucking into the deserts she had made, smiling with chocolate smeared lips. Up on stage, her friend was waiting in the wings for his moment to enter the spotlight. The colt was clearly strained, almost as though he wasn't happy to be performing. Grabbing a chocolate cinder-toffee, Maple dashed up and gave it to him just as the teacher beckoned a cue. Returning to the far table, the filly looked back across the crowd. Well into an emotional piano recital, Maple realised how the soothing notes were bringing smiles to the watching faces. That's what she had been missing, it was how the music made people feel that made her happy on stage, not performing. She decided, there and then, to make food that could make ponies as happy as music made her. Shortly after this revelation, her cutie mark appeared, a treble cleft made of runny gooey delicious chocolate. As time wore all thoughts of performance left her mind, replaced by part time jobs at the local cafe and bake sales. Her passion for music, however, remained a definitive part of her life. When cooking it gave her that added emotional boost, allowing her to put forth that extra special 'personal touch' into her culinary creations that the customers love so much. At times she even found herself constructing meals that worked alongside a particular opera or performance. Not long after finishing school, she was given opportunity of a life time when she was accepted for an apprenticeship at a restaurant in Fillidelphia. Starting from as waitress and jr. cook, she eventually earned a place on the kitchen staff at the flagship branch in canterlot. Quite an achievement for a nopony. But secretly Maple felt ever more disenfranchised with her art, restricted as she was by the pallet of high society. She could not simply create anything she wanted, and the meals they prepared often felt like a hotchpotch orchestra, missing crucial passion that would have truly brought the dishes to life. Whenever she could she would escape to local concerts and music halls, listening and imagining the taste of sound as though it were a banquet. About eight years ago, while visiting a culinary convention, she by chance encountered her old foalhood friend. The stallion had become a famous orchestral conductor and was at the convention to lead the string band. Though they were only playing in the evenings, for both the meal and the ball, he'd come early to look around the convention. Technically there on business, they spent their free time catching up and wandering the various booths. Old friends meeting for the first time in years, entirely by chance. Spending time together and seeing just how much they still have in common. Realisation that absence only makes the heart grow stronger. And with a dance the following evening? If you've seen any cheesy chick flick you'll know exactly where it runs from there. Thus here we are! Five years since the big day and suddenly it's all change. Colour Refrence
  11. WOOOOT! Haftybufday Manie! Hope you have lots of fun and feel at least one year younger!

  14. [it's only a model] Shout 'Canterlot!' whilst visiting the scenic plateau overlooking Canterlot with five friends.
  15. Oh my gosh oh my gosh! Officaly extended TOOO!! WOW Can you name even one show that has such a conection to its fans ^_^ I feel so loved! edit: here's a thought. You know that the CMC tune was done deliberatly bad (even the voice actor for soot was apparantly upset that she had to sing so badly), what if they ended up doing an ofical re-recording!
  16. Okay, so, the conversion is complete with few scars to show. The edit to Earth pony composed of; Removing references to Pegasus in title and physical description. Changing physical descriptions to match both the image provided and the new species. Removing references to flight and or airborne activities from character-background. Checking to ensure the background still worked fully given the change of perspective. I also took the opportunity to change her name from the tong twister 'Cerra Cirrus' to 'Cerra Lavender'. Not being a Pegasus anymore the name Cirrus makes little sense, but her first name still really suits her. Have to say, after making those changes, I'm feeling a lot more confident about her character. Just yell if this needs to be reaproved Oh, I'll change the picture too sometime tomorow
  17. Queary; If I wanted to change her to an earth pony, would it requie submitting again? The changes I'd have to make would to her background would only be quite small, but I don't know if the admin would prefure resubmission.
  18. Edit number three! Well this is a little better now. I've finally gone back through the awful '2am' paragraphs and really feel its starting to take shape. In doing so I've inadvertently stumbled across what will be a possible end scenario for the fic, still thinking on that though
  19. Ohmygosh new ponies everywhere! Welcome to the madness!
  20. HUGHE kudos to Freddie for all his help. We've proof read and reworded a good fifty percent of the prologue and it flows much more easily now. Still to address the '2am' bit in the last paragraph but with any luck we'll have that sorted soon too ^^,
  21. Okay so this is the sample prologue from a fan fic I'm writing atm. Its based on the initial blurb from the Heart of Equestria though is not directly linked to the cannon that will be established by the RP once its in full swing. Anywho this is basically my first full length story and I really could do with some feed back or pointers. If you spot anything in the writing or sentence structure that needs addressing, please quote it in your post. Thanks to everyone on the dev-team for HofE who inspired me to write this and what is to follow, you are all awesome! (ps, I know that Pegasus-unicorns are usually referred too as Alicorn's here, but there is reasoning behind the use of the name Unisus. Just to let you know before I get twenty people telling me that ) Final vertion is now up on Google Doc's! Feel free to have a read through. MORALITY
  22. FINALY! Brain came out of its slump today and I finally managed to produce a cherry that doesn't look horribly disfigured. That being said I'm far from happy with it, something's up with both background hoofs and her expression doesn't look a serene as I'd like, but it's a start at least ^^
