  1. While we were out I hit a Wal-Mart in a nearby town looking for more cards, which I found. (Yay! but I keep getting the same cards a lot...boo) They had the plush dolls. Debated getting a Twilight. They had a lot of slots for the mini-sets, but non there. I wonder if they were out or not stocked yet. They also had blue blind-bags with the mettallic/gem ponies. So those have hit central Illinois. This is the first time I have seen ones other than the wave-1 bags. Too bad I don't want that style.
  2. Whichever works better for you. I appreciate the read!
  3. Just added a new chapter. 9 so far. I have the "base" chapters for everyone but Fluttershy done. I hope I'm doing the Mane 6 characters justice. I expected Rarity to be the hardest but she didn't seem to be (if I got her right). Applejack still holds the lead by a wide margin of having been the hardest to write for. Fluttershy may be a challenge too. She is so often subject to stereotyping. We'll see. I hope the ponies tell me where this is heading soon!
  4. I went looking for cards in our local Wal-Marts again. Both have had empty boxes on the shelf for over a week! They had the mini 3-packs in though. The Apple family packs looked good, though I doubt I get that one. The wedding set was the only other one they had. All I can say is, "What the HAY!" The color for Cadance is horrible-horrible-horrible! If she had been the color of the big Celestia I would have grabbed a set. But she is a deep neon purple. Um, no. How is it they get the colors right on everypony else but they can hit a Princess at all? GGGGRRRRR.
  5. Something I've thought about is doing a henna version of anything I consider getting a tat of. That way I can have a trial run before I decide to get a permanent ink job.
  6. Thanks for linking that. I had no idea that was out there.
  7. I can't say I disagree with you. In general I understood people like military folks that got unit insignias or branch arms done. That is a life defining thing for a lot of people and I respect that. The kindergartener like skulls and what-not I've seen people I know get however. (I used to work with a guy that got a tat and found out later it was a gang sign and had horrible-botched removal surgery that left him looking like a farm accident victim.) But I am finding that as I get older I'm less opposed to the idea rather than more. Maybe it's because I won't have as long to regret it as I did when I was younger.
  8. And walk around in the summertime saying "How about this heat?"
  9. Tyler Durden, but I'd like to skip the bullet hole in the face part. But Weesh's idea is brilliant. People need a villain so giving them a "genuine" evil to rally against would actually (probably) be a force for good. (Now that I think about it I don't like getting punched in the face too much either.... May have to rework the angle a bit...)
  10. My wife and I have debated getting tattoos recently. Part of a midlife crisis thing I think. The FOREVER aspect is a big pause-giver. If I get one it would be something like the infinity knot somewhere easily concealed. My wife is debating getting 3 butterflies on her hip. It ties in with her new found affinity for Fluttershy but even after the show has passed, a woman with butterfly tattoos isn't exceptionally out of place.
  11. I got teary eyed reading it too. While I'm not there now, I was in a place in my life very similar to to the loneliness described in the story so I identified. The story Never made me cry too. Why is it that a lot of the good Fics are sad?
  12. The plant I work in still has "Y2K Compliant" stickers stuck all over the electrical panels. Hundreds of them.... We've already had several apocalypses over the years. The Black Death was certainly apocalyptic. Several things have been the "end of the world" at least in an "as we know it" sense. Maybe they were off and the date was earlier. Maybe this is the apocalypse now. Would we know if we were living through the end of an era? Also, on the people are dumber/smarter now debate- I say "yes" .... to both. I think we are living through an uncontrolled version of the Russian fox experiment. The crazy/dumb portion of our population gravitates to its own element so those traits are reenforced concentrating the lunacy. Likewise the most intelligent sector gravitates towards itself and as such raises the bar there. There is a nice buffer zone of "average" folks that mix a bit with the other two pools and produce both rocket scientists and tinfoil hat enthusiasts from time to time. But I don't imagine there are too many neurosurgeons married to folks that check their cornflakes for secret messages from the CIA.
  13. Glad they are doing well. Guessing that mama is still doing fine? Makes me glad that the cat that came with our house was healthy and not pregnant! (She was on the steps when we got there after closing, very very thin. Former owners said they didn't have a cat when we asked them.) She's nice and has stayed for 2 months so far. I had a feral cat once. Caught him by hand under my trailer... leather gloves.... He got to where he was real lovey to me but would hide whenever anyone else was around.
  14. Foremost, my heart goes out to you and your family Steel. And on a minor note; I thought I'd let everypony know I'm going to go live in tent during the middle-ages for a week. My pocket-sized magic box will allow me a little communication with the world, but not much. Wish me luck surviving the war!
  15. OK, I have to do a squee. Once this one got approved it did well enough off the bat to make it on the popular stories bar. Glad for some success!
  16. We've had to set rules for me to NOT get involved in her things so that she can have stuff that is all hers. We've learned the hard way that it's not always good for us to both be involved in the same hobby pursuits. I don't know... You look at the stories on FiMFiction.net and the clopping stories get an awful lot of reads. :!: But welcome aboard!!!!
  17. I don't know if this counts as a fandom or not... I'm a member of the SCA, a reenactment group. It's a whole different world. But we have a lot of the hallmarks you would associate with a "fandom." We dress up in funny clothes we spend hours making, there are long arguments over what is and isn't accurate representation, opposing interpretations of limited media (people will argue for hours how a tent in the background of a painting would have been assembled. It is my primary because I've been doing it for 7 years and have thousands of dollars invested in it. However, I do more MLP reading/writing on a day-to-day basis. Been a brony for a year and a few months, not sure exactly when... Since the SCA has been around for over 40 years and has a real structure, there is an actual power base and very real politics. So "fights" get a lot more entrenched there and there are often very real winners and losers in conflicts. Beyond that I collected manga and anime, but was never active in the fandom beyond talking to the 2 or 3 other geeks at the comic shop that bought the same stuff.
  18. I've got the non-brony wife thing going too. (for now) She started out really annoyed by it and still tries to act like she thinks it's dumb. Whenever I buy new pony stuff she gives me the, "You bought more ponies?" bit. But she has also (as I mentioned in another thread recently) named her latest mead "Fluttershy mead" and put 3 butterflies on the label and made Fluttershy her profile pic on Facebook. The other day I got a set of the trading cards that come with the temp tattoos. Once had a Fluttershy tattoo in it and she said she wants it. So either our wives are coming around, or they've decided that since they love us and think we are worthwhile, then maybe our interests have some worth too, even if they don't get it. I'll take it either way! Congrats!
  19. I did a second story besides the ongoing "Trading Places" one I have. In it Twilight discovers something not right about the world. Something doesn't add up. Failing to find answers she goes to Celestia. The answer she gets is nothing like she was prepared for. But neither was Celestia prepared for her response. It is fairly grim/sad. No violence, bad language or anything. Just sad...ish. http://www.fimfictio...Truth/The-Truth Hoping it gets approval soon!
  20. Raised platform with Celestia with her head raised, horn glowing VERY bright. Luna to her side and slightly behind, also in a majestic pose. Mane 6 fanned out in front of them in poses reminiscent of the ones they used in the changeling battle. Maybe with Pinkie Pie on her party cannon. Oh, the cannon should actually work too.
  21. hehe, I've subject my family too. My kids are converts, but my wife proclaims that she finds it annoying. Even though she named her last batch of mead "Fluttershy mead" and put butterflies on the label. Oh, and made Fluttershy her profile pic on Facebook. So it may not stay "subjected too" for long!
  22. http://www.doublerainboom.com/ There are a lot of the animatics on YouTube. Can't wait for it to be done. I wish I had the skill to use the puppet software.
  23. I do pewter casting as part of my reenactment hobby. I've been thinking about making a mold to cast tokens of the badge Shining Armor wore during the wedding. Probably at 1 inch X 1 inch or 1.5X1.5 (2.5-4 cm square). But the mold is literally carved in stone so it isn't worth doing to just make a couple of pieces. (you can do plaster molds, but I haven't pulled those off yet.) If I can make these look right would there be enough interest to make it worthwhile?
  24. Bah! The firewall at work is blocking it. Any idea what size the file is? I have internet access at home, but a very tight data limit.
