  1. I just saw Fluttershy's design as her being a little older than the rest and she was starting the pony equivalent of the awkward teenage stage, complete with growth spurts.
  2. Trixie felt confident again for the first time in a long time, she felt..great and powerful! Yes, if she could get some of those books of hers back she could start anew! Back to her old self! Suddenly Trixie heard something land nearby! Quickly jumping up on all fours she found herself looking at a female Griffin with light pinkish feathering. The blue unicorn sniffed her still running nose, hoping it came off as indignant and not like she was trying to hide that she'd been crying. The Griffin didn't seem to appear hostile - instead she asked about Ponyville ... that place ... that place where she was humiliated ... and now must go back to. Well, she had to get her books, anyway. Trixie puffed up a little and smiled proudly, "But of COURSE! If you need help of ANY sort, there is none who can assist you with greater MAJESTY than the GREAT and POWERFUL TRIXIE!" Trixie turned around and began to step proudly in the general direction of Ponyville, holding her head high. She strutted several yards before turning to see if the Griffin was following her, "Come, then, and be glad to be allowed to follow the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie!"
  3. *SPOILERS!* ********************************************* MANEHATTAN, lol! Dear FSM...little Applejack is the most adorable foal ever! Look at all them freckles! Even back then she lived with granny, makes you wonder what happened to her folks. Daww, young colt Big Mac Little Rarity's expression as she was being dragged by her horn's magic. Poor Fluttershy, so gangly and awkward as a foal. I liked the design they did for her, it was different. Twilight's parents revealed! Wait does Twlight's dad have a cutie mark like Trixie's..and similar colors? The birth of Spike, Twilight is a mid-wife! Pinky has a very...weird family (rock farming?), also DAT SMILE while watching the rainbow, lol. BFF GROUP HUG! I dunno, really did like how much was revealed here. We got to see twilight's and Pinky's family, how Twilight got to be Celestia's student and how Spike was connected to her. I am not sure if I liked how everything was tied to Rainbow Dash's first moment of glory myself but other than that it was really well done. My only other complaint is it didn't mover the CMC anywhere in character development other than confirming the fandom's suspicions about Scoot being a Dash fangirl. Expect a lot of new fandom art and stories (and RP).
  4. Carrot felt like the biggest fool. Sure, he cleared branches from the wheels of his own cart almost every day, but without fail - but put him in front of a filly and he'd break the branch, fall on his keester, and look like a total klutz. He shook his head, his tail flicking to brush the dust off his rump, as the young beige unicorn colt was giving it a second go. Suddenly, there was a burst of light, a tiny little squeak of a sneeze, and the remaining branch was reduced to toothpicks. While Carrot was glad the wheel was finally free, it made him feel all the more a klutz watching a foal do better by accident what he had been able to do while actually trying. He gave a snort, and winked at the little while Pegasus foal, trying to glaze over his self-consciousness by joking about it. "Well, see, that'll teach me t'try t' show off, dinnae it? Oi guess she has a real knack for magic". Carrot turned back to his own cart to get back on his way, feeling a little awkward about the whole situation, but stopped after only a couple limping steps. He paused, then started again, more slowly, his right rear leg stepping very lightly. "Well that is ginnae stay with me fer the rest of the day; good job genius".
  5. It was another morning and another day of having to play salespony at the Marketplace. It certainly wasn't Carrot Fields favorite job, he rather be growing the carrots on the quiet farm then selling them in the busy marketplace, this was more his sister, Purple Haze's thing. She though was in school for the day, which was precisely where he was coming from now that he made sure she was there. As he approached the central part of town, Carrot noticed that another cart was sitting in the road facing the other way with a small crowd of ponies gathered around it who were looking perplexed. As he came closer he noticed a young unicorn colt attempting to use his magic to free a branch that was caught up in the wheel and having little luck. At first Carrot thought he was the cart's owner, but as he approached closer and notice it was full of dirt and mud, which better seem to match the dusty looking filly watching the unicorn's failed attempts. "Awrite thaur!" Carrot smiled as he unhooked himself from his own cart, "Mebbe Ah coods help wi' 'at laddie?" Without waiting for a response from the unicorn and wanting to impress the cute filly, Carrot braced himself in front of the wheel and grabbed a hold of the branch with his teeth. The gray earth pony dug his hooves into the dirt and pulled, hard. The large branch slowly moved free from its tangled position as he backed up. Carrot looked like he was going to be successful and thought to himself "surely she'll be impressed", when there was an abrupt loud snap. Carrot suddenly tumbled backwards and landed awkwardly on his keester, half of the branch firmly in his mouth with the other half even more firmly still stuck in the wheel. Not exactly the first impression he hoped to leave on the filly, or the rest of the crowd for that matter.
  6. It's a Tu-95 bomber for those who don't get the pic.
  7. Carrot looked up as heard the nearby bushes suddenly rustle in an otherwise clam, lazy afternoon. What he saw was yet another pegasus filly, this time with a light blue pelt and striking rainbow colored mane who just finished a graceful swoop of a landing in front of them. Carrot already felt a little flustered with two pretty filly pegasai talking to him, but how with the newcomer he felt a little overwhelmed. He tried his best not to look to blushed or flustered, lest they all notice. "Um..hi, yeah, derpy, she crashed intae th' cabre an' mailbox loch bolt haur said". Realizing he was just repeating himself, he rubbed the back of his head with his front hoof, looking down and away, "Sae anyway, umm, anyway Ah hink derpy mention she kent waur th' post office was, but she seems bonnie busy an' Ah hae thes package an'..weel, dae ye ken whaur it is, umm.. aam sorry Ah didne catch yer nam."
  8. I have absolutely no problem drawing her, she is cute. I just want to make sure you are 100% happy.
  9. Oh dear Celestia.. THAT. IS. ADORABLE! :D Thank you, that was indeed very cool of you and of course I will do my half of the trade with your Whatnot character (unless you prefer someone else).
  10. [[OOC Note - Thanks to Dubstep and Willow for giving permission to use their characters places for this opening ]] How did to come to this?  How could have the mighty have fallen so far?  It just didn't seem real - but here she was, The Great and Powerful Trixie, reduced to homelessness and near starvation in some dark, dank forest.  All thanks to that day, that horrible day when she took her wondrous magic to Ponyville.  The day where it all went so horribly wrong.  It all blew up in her face, everything she worked for utterly smashed into a thousand pieces, ruined, including her most prized possession ... her reputation. It was dawn, and once again, Trixie was out scavenging - looking for anything she could use to survive in this accursed dank forest she found herself living in.  The thin blue unicorn quietly moved among the trees, wary of being noticed by any errant pony - or worse, by the various strange creatures that inhabited Everfree.  It was harder to be stealthy during the day, but the night was too dangerous. Still, no matter what they took from her, they could never take her amazing magic.  A whisper of power was all it took to muffle the noise of her passage. The pickings had been thin this day.  She had come across a small, run down house on the edge of Foggy Bottom, but there was very little of value inside.  Whomever it belonged to was obsessed with Poison Joke. She couldn't help but monologue, "Eeeheeheehee!  Look at that amateur setup! Little foals playing games, not even using their gift of unicorn magic to its fullest!  Trixie laughs at such foolishness, no wonder he is so poor!" She smirked before her own situation brought a crashing blow to her ego, a couple tears running down her cheeks as she tried to hold back the depression.  Quickly looking about, she felt she needed to get out of there, and fast.  There, a few apples laying in the dirt.  Good enough - she took them and left in a hurry. As she worked along to outskirts of the forest, there wasn't much to find that she could use.  The next building she spotted looked even less likely as a prospect than the previous place - a large home that looked like it was right out of a horror novel one told young foals.  "What could such a place hold for Trixie? Likely home to a crazy cat mare!", she quipped to herself as justification, hiding her fear. Her final stop looked inviting - a large home built into a tremendous tree with a small brook out in front.  It seemed like easy pickings, and with her magic, it surely wouldn't be difficult to get inside and take a couple provisions.  The owner wouldn't even notice till it was too late! Looking at the small cache of food she managed to rob from that last stop, Trixie suddenly grew despondent, "Is this what the Great an… I'm, reduced to? Stealing Apples? A Scavenger? A common thief??" In a flash of magical rage she pitched the apples violently, foolishly smashing her only food against a nearby tree. As the remains dripped down, Trixie just sat and sobbed for several minutes, lost in self-pity. Suddenly an epiphany! "What if some of my spell books survived in Ponyville?! That accursed Ursa couldn't have demolished all of them in its bumbling around, and they are valuable enough not even those ignorant ruffians in that two bit backwoods town would destroy them. The Great and Powerful Trixie could get them back!', she smiled as she wiped away her tears. As Trixie contemplated just how to do that, she realized that she was still sitting exposed for anyone to see in the open fields near the home she "procured" her food from, and it was getting dark…
  11. Martini Paradise was running late. Her foal, Sunrise Beach, had a terrible time getting up this morning, making them both late in getting her to school. Martini found herself having to gallop quickly as she could out of town towards the Rhinestone Ranch, which had certainly already opened for the day. As the ranch came into view, Martini had started to feel a small panic attack; "Second day on the job and already you are tardy, way to go Martini!" All sorts of nightmare scenarios ran through her head, "Will I get fired? I hope I don't get fired.. We need this job so badly." Martini already felt terrible from yesterday because she didn't have any sort of outfit for the job such as the beautiful ones Ms. Stone and Djemba wore and had no idea how she would acquire one any time soon. Martini ran through the doors and quickly looked about, seeing nopony out in front, she trotted behind the bar to catch her breath. "At least there are no customers yet, maybe I won't be in such trouble," she thought to herself still worried as she looked about for Ms. Stone.
  12. Yeah, I know several artist friends who do this on purpose with their characters, especially if they have hair that covers part of the face; it is always the far side wither you are looking from the left or the right (even if its officially on one side), just for the visual readability.
  13. Just a few for A Bird in the Hoof, if I think of any more good ones, I'll add to the list. [All Creatures Great and Small] - Help Fluttershy nurse and injured animal back to health [Top Chef] - Help the Cakes make enough pies for a dozen pony party [MasterChef] - Help the Cakes make enough pies for a 25 pony party [iron Chef] - Help the Cakes make enough pies for a town event [Hell's Kitchen] - Help the Cakes make enough pies for a town event & prevent Pinky from eating any
  14. What I always personally loved about that meme is that in the original Japanese, he says over 8000, so its all based on a mistranslation; either that or they felt 9000 sounded 20% cooler.
  15. If I recall the animation team were under a tight deadline for that episode so they just re-purposed a lot of the regular background ponies from Ponyille and also swapped around colors and marks. Thus you get background characters like a suddenly "female Caramel" and later again as male. Of course fandom just took the idea and ran with it producing all sorts of imagery since they already made Caramel the focus of M/M shipping.
  16. I do this with Babylon 5, which is my favorite series bar none. I watch the whole run over the course of a month every year or so, but never more often than that.
  17. Just reading your snippet of this fic, all I could think of at the end was cheesy Seventies porno music queuing up.
  18. Carrot Fields smiled at Purple Haze when she pointed out the obvious truth - ponies like pickled carrots, and she was right to make him bring them. Carrot sighed for a moment, it was time to swallow some of his pride and say so. "Ye were right tae bring 'em, lass! Oim glad ye insisted, Oi know Oi kin bae thick-headed an' picky 'bout this. Sorry about that", he smiled before turning back to the customers. As Carrot thought about the light brown earth pony filly's question, listing out all the carrot types, he was really just rambling on. Then it hit him what the light brown earth filly meant. Like all the Carrot family, he'd been taught about carrots from a young age, and he remembered about wild carrots and their tall flowers as high as a pony's head. What was the fancy name again? "Oh, wait, ye mean Daucus carota, roight?", he tried to keep a calm demeanor, nodding as if he was some kind of expert. "Oi ... ummmm, Oi dinnae have those wit' me, but Oi kin shur arrange sommat fer ye if ye like, lassie! We are yer one stop shop, after all!" Looking about, he noticed the golden brown pegasus with the dark mane finally snapped out of his trance and paid Purple for another bottle of pickled carrots before flying off. Well, two sales, right off! Great! And the pegasus looked about to be replaced by another - a very pretty pink pegasus filly with a stunning blue mane, looking about as if she was determined about something, "Ah wonder if she will come ower haur", he mused as he often did when he saw any cute filly. That comforting train of thought was broken with what sounded like some sort of hissing coming from Granola's cart, "Umm, miss, Ah hink thaur main be somethin' wrang wi' yer cart".
  19. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Trixie (although she often referred to herself as "The Great and Powerful Trixie") Gender: Female Age: Mare Species: Unicorn Pony Pelt colour: Blue (Viking Blue - Hex:70B0E0) Mane/Tail colour & Style: Light blue (Mint Tulip Hex:C0E4F2) and very light blue (Hummingbird Blue Hex:DBEFFA) streaks. Her mane and tail are slighty wavy. Eye colour: Purple Cutie Mark: Magic wand with a star shaped end sprinkling pixie dust Physique: Average for a unicorn who gets light amounts of exercise Residence: She was last seen in Ponyville, but currently wanders, she is technically homeless Occupation: She was a stage magician and swindler, using her natural abilities to garnish bits through her theatrical shows and swindling ponies through the illusion that her magic would solve their problems. After her humiliation in Ponyville and the loss of her wagon she currently has no occupation. Motivation: Originally Trixie was motivated by a fragile ego and secret fear of being a failure, masked with theatrical bravado. Currently she is searching for a way to recover her self-esteem after her loss and himuliation, and wondering if there is something more in life she can do with magic, which she loves so much. Likes: Magic, flowers, hay smoothies, bits, social gatherings and crowds, being the center of attention, competition and confrontation - as long as she wins, admiration Dislikes: Being shown up, tears (crying herself or in others), sour fruits, noisy ponies who pry into her personal life Character Summary: Trixie was always told she was something special by her mother and could achieve anything through her magic. It was even her mum who first gave her the moniker that later became her show title: "The Great and Powerful Trixie". Unfortunately for Trixie, she lost her mother - her only source of comfort and support - while she was just a young foal. Growing up in a series of orphanages and obsessively desperate to learn how to bring anything dead back to life in vain hope that she could bring back her mother. Over time she grew increasingly depressed and cynical at her continued failure, even through her magical powers grew immensely over time, through her preoccupation. Over time she learned to bury her depression and sense of failure under a growing swell of ego and bravado as she quickly realized she could impress and enthrall other ponies with her abilities, especially in the world of illusions. Instead of living up to her mum's faith in her, she allowed her pride to get the best of her, losing her way. She began to see other ponies merely as "things" to be used in order to enrich herself and further fuel her pretentiousness. Her exaggeration of her abilities and her ego finally caught up with her in Ponyville when she was finally confronted by an Ursa Minor that she proved to be powerless against. She did show some courage in standing up to it and humbleness in admitting briefly that she could do nothing, but these admirable qualities about her still remain buried under her façade of boastful arrogance. Today Trixie wanders, coming to terms with what happened in Ponyville and consequences as a result of her pride and prevarication. She lost everything in pretending she was more than she really was. She now wanders, still deeply prideful and hurt but with new introspection on what her life has become, and why.
  20. ((OOC - Well I was having a blast but I am 100% fine with a new thread and starting fresh from there, but just going with what was established, at least far as having the job. I guess in short I would love to continue interacting with the folks here and I think a fresh thread with those who want to participate would serve that perhaps just fine. Looking at this further, it seems three characters will be lost, so at this point, a reboot in a new thread may be best.))
  21. "Finally", thought Carrot Fields when the blue pegasus pointed to the pickle carrots first, indicating he wanted a jar, before singling out several other items he wanted to purchase. Carrot was beginning to worry everyone was just going to look, but finally he had his first sale. "Ah cannae believe 'at these things ur actually in demain.", he pondered in regard to the pickled carrots as he placed the bottle into the blue pegasus' cart. It seemed though they were what everyone was the most was interested in for some reason. Perhaps his sister, Purple Haze, was right in making them after all, "Ah guess she pure diz tak' efter th' auld man", he snickered to himself returning back behind the counter. Carrot looked at the bits spread out on the counter for a moment before pushing them into a previously empty jar, "Ye know, ye earned part ay thes Purple", he smiled proudly to her; "Jist dornt gang spendin' it aw at ance noo". As the two of them waiting on the other pegasai to decide what they wanted to do, another pony, this time a smaller earth pony filly trotted up to the counter. Carrot gave his best smile to the cute filly, he wanted to impress, well at least as best he could. "What kind of carrots are these? Do you have any wild carrots?", upon hearing her question Carrot started to worry, wild carrots? Was there really a difference then the kind straight of the ground from a farm? "Um.. weel we hae aw kinds haur, aw of them freshly out ay th' guid, deep, fertile soil! Ah guarantee!", he said with a slightly elevated voice and to some extent an awkward smile, hoping she meant plain raw carrots rather than specifically grown in the wild, "Umm..any particular kin'? We got plenty ay carrot cultivars... Chantenays, Danvers, Imperator, Nantes..."
  22. Carrot stood there rather bewildered at Derpy's response at first. He hoped she was most likely understanding him and indeed answering his question, but he had the most difficult time deciphering what she was saying. "Ah thooght Ah was stoaner tae understand", as he backed up a little, bumping into Bolt on accident, "Sorry, Ah didne see ye thaur" he blushed before he turned back to hear the gray mail pony's final reply. When Derpy finished her answer, smiled and flew off again, Carrot turned back to Bolt, "Ah hink mebbe Ah understuid th' tail end ay 'at", stating with a facade of confidence, "Ah hink she will help us gie tae th' post office when she is finished". He wasn't sure of that at all of course, but he wanted to at least give Bolt the impression that he understood as he smiled nervously at her.
