  1. hi hi If you'll notice in the B.B.B.F.F. song, Twilight doesn't have her cutie mark yet, so I think she is referring to a time before she had even met Spike. Also, if I recall, there was some commentary by one of the writers (or maybe Faust I don't remember) who said that Princess Celestia took care of Spike until he was older. By the time we see Twilight and Spike working together in Friendship is Magic Part 1, they're both a lot older than they were in any of those flashbacks.
  2. hi hi All those books on magic aren't just for show, you never know when cross training will apply some special insight to your own special talent. Like how having an understanding of engineering might help an artist draw really nice cityscapes, or conversely, having an understanding of artistic aesthetics might help an engineer create some very attractive buildings. Part of friendship is helping others, and if you're doing something for someone else, understanding their special talent will make your contribution that much more helpful. Like writing a book, you need to know your audience.

Just a silly little doodle. Nopony suspects that Luna, a mild mannered office mare, is really crime fighter extraordinaire, Nightmare Moon!
  4. hi hi Thanks, that means a lot. I always have trouble stepping outside my own shoes when I'm writing, so I'm not very good at telling whether the stuff I'm writing is any good or not.

  6. Wow, I admit that was quite a surprise, but a good surprise, not a startling surprise.

So, I went ahead and applied for Ember Spark to be in the board RP, and so I made this as a little banner for her posts. It took much more effort than it had any right to take, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out (except maybe the brass texture, how do you even make a texture for metal anyway?)
  8. hi hi I'll do my best to not break anything.
  9. hi hi Speaking of 3d models, I seem to be stuck on mine trying to get low poly eyes to work. I'm not aiming to make the eyes a spherical mesh, so I need a way to make the eyes flat so that the outlines don't have bends in them. It is quite a conundrum. In other news though, I made a commission for some fallout equestria art. Not grimdark in itself, but I'm leaving it here just because I know plenty of folks on canterlot aren't fans of the genre.
  10. hi hi This is really inspiring. I may have to try my hoof at this style sometime when I get a chance. And I'm really enjoying the little stories that go along with them.
  11. hi hi I'm imagining him either standing under a cold waterfall, or with a bunch of colts and fillies running around making a racket and he's the calm center of the universe.
  12. hi hi I think you're a little bit too hard on yourself. Sure there's always room for improvement, but if you cant pick something out of your art that you like, how are you going to build on it and improve? I like Paladin's armor, and honestly, even the royal guards seem to understand that its not typically worth the effort to cover the entire body with plating. There's a nice balance between protection and freedom of movement, so long as she is facing her foes head on, or from the front shoulder.
  13. hi hi My little human, A~aaaaah! (scream of terror, on that last one. ) Also, pony armor is always fun to draw. I don't know what kind of pony would have such an imposing looking crest, but it looks neat anyway.
  14. hi hi "You gotta problem with coffee?" "No! Well, yes personally, but I don't mind that anyone else drinks it." I've never found much of a compelling reason to upgrade versions of photoshop myself. There are some neat tricks that the newer versions have, but only for very specific uses.
  15. hi hi I dig the shading, I think it makes them look rather plushy, if that makes any sense.
  16. hi hi Ponies are great for practicing drawing I think because you don't have to hold yourself to such high standards as you do with people and their faces/feet/hands. Is this some kind of army pony? His color scheme reminds me of camouflage.
  17. hi hi Do you, by any chance, save these to youtube for later viewing?
  18. hi hi This may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black, but I don't think you need to apologize for the look of your artwork before anyone even looks at it. So what if its not perfect, its clear that you're trying, and you've even got some legitimate cuteness in there.
  19. I think her pose on the far left image is my favorite, very adorable.
  20. I dunno, the expression doesn't look exaggerated to me, looks pretty natural. Hopefully that comes across as a complement, cause I'm not quite sure why the pony is supposed to be pretentious.
  21. I think it depends on what program you're using, I know in photoshop if you clean up your image layers, it is reasonably easy to make a transparent PDF with the save as options.
  22. Are there going to be unicorn/pegasus versions?
  23. Black and vibrant red is a really common color scheme for manes for some reason which I've never quite understood, but after seeing the colors more subdued into a dark grey and dull red, I can see that being a for-real pony color scheme.
  24. Belated cheers! I like how you blend the shadow segments together with those little back and fourth strokes, I almost didn't even notice them.
  25. I suspect that any different character looks seem to be a boy thing because the mares in MLP are practically all the same, but I think having some diverse designs for them is a good thing.
