OilWells Posted December 6, 2012 Report Share Posted December 6, 2012 [colour=#000000]Roleplay Type: World of Equestria[/colour][colour=#000000]Name: Talkie Buckman[/colour][colour=#000000]Sex: Male[/colour][colour=#000000]Age: Stallion[/colour][colour=#000000]Species: Pegasus[/colour][colour=#000000]Eye colour: Green[/colour][colour=#000000]Coat: Dark Blue[/colour][colour=#000000]Mane/Tail: Both Talkie's mane and tail hang long and straight with a light green hue.[/colour][colour=#000000]Physique: He is a healthy pony with no outstanding physical attributes, having a fairly average stature.[/colour][colour=#000000]Residence: Currently residing in Baltimare (formerly in Cloudsdale)[/colour][colour=#000000]Occupation: Film Maker[/colour][colour=#000000]Cutie Mark: A black frame of celluloid film.[/colour][colour=#000000]History: There was nothing particularly different about Talkie's foalhood when compared to other pegasi; his father cleared the sky of clouds and managed the weather in various cities in Equestria while his mother taught at a school. He was born and raised in Cloudsdale where he did fair enough in school, never truly excelling in anything practical, but finding himself far more interested in the arts. His teachers often said he had a great deal of potential, but found he was far more interested in being the class clown and daydreaming instead of learning. However, his parents never discouraged his interest in creativity, and were content as long as he was doing well enough in school. They were more interested in his happiness than in making sure he was a top student.[/colour][colour=#000000]Talkie always had an urge to entertain and found that he had a deep love for the world of movies, a sort of love that he not many other ponies shared. He would constantly take trips to the closest theater and see what was playing on the silver screen, sometimes in groups and sometimes by himself. To him it was a medium of entertainment that spoke directly to his heart and his passion. It was mind-blowing to him; frames being spliced together to create such delightful and interesting stories,[/colour][colour=#000000]As a present, Talkie's father got him a camera and Talkie didn't hesitate to use it. He flew through the air shooting footage of anything he could capture on the frame. At the end of the day, when he was all tuckered out and the sun began to set, he was so tired that he almost missed the fact that a little black frame of celluloid appeared on his flank. He was so excited to see his cutie mark that he had begun to leap around with a renewed sense of energy.[/colour][colour=#000000]He knew that he wanted some part in such an industry, no matter what he had to do, but remaining in Cloudsdale wasn't helping him get any closer to his dream. Eventually, he traveled down from Cloudsdale to the mainland where he took whatever job he could in the film industry to help him break in and make a name for himself; Cameraman's assistant, Director's assistant's assistant, Editor's assistant intern, etc. Eventually he worked his way up to operating one of the cameras and gained the attention of an accomplished film making pony who took him under his wing and mentored the young Talkie Buckman.[/colour][colour=#000000]After a few years of being an apprentice he eventually got to make his first feature-length film and the rest was history. Now he travels around Equestria making films and fulfilling his need to entertain. Despite how far he has come, he has never stopped being the class clown, still managing to be his silly self and never getting too serious.[/colour][colour=#000000]Character Summary: Talkie is very much a happy-go-luck pony whom takes a great amount of delight in entertaining others. Sometimes his positive demeanor borders downright silliness as others, who may not know him, might see him as a doofus of sorts, but that hardly mattered to him. He strolls through life with the thought that the world was beautiful and filled with endless potential, why be malicious, angry, or mean?[/colour][colour=#000000]His world is a mass of creativity; he could stroll down the street, see a conversation take place, and string it into its very own story. That was his gift, to create stories, and the world of film was his best way use such a talent. The medium offered so much versatility; from sounds, to performances, to camera movements, to editing, all to tell a story and then to have that story projected for so many other ponies to see.[/colour][colour=#000000]Where he falters is that he seems a tad absent minded at times, day dreaming about other things than the situation at hand. There will be times where ponies will try and talk to him, but he seems completely absorbed in his own little world, not hearing a single word they say. Considering we've already seen evidence of rough yet believable film making in the show, I hope you won't have any problems getting this well thought out through. Good job! All of the required fields are filled in, and it is very well written.The only thing I can see that it lacks is a detailed cutie mark story. A pony's cutie mark story can reveal much about their personality and traits. So if you'll add the cutie mark story, I believe this app will be good to go! RarityDash Posted January 22, 2013 Report Share Posted January 22, 2013 Just to clarify, film in Equestria is probably a very young, very new, very small industry in Equestria, where technology is not at our modern levels. It's not going to quite be a big, glamorous thing like the modern film industry. That doesn't mean we can't allow the character or his interest and love of film, we just ask that you keep this idea firmly in mind when you play him.
