Musical Theater

Recommended Posts

Okay, here's something else I have to ask. How many ponies out there in Canterlot enjoy the great white way as much as I do? Which is a lot. I'm close enough to Westchester Broadway Theater as well as not to far from Manhattan to see my fair share. Post your favorite shows, ponies! My turn first.

Spamalot and Wicked I've seen downtown.

Other than that, both locally and on DVD Ive seen and enjoyed and can think of right now:

1776

Camelot

My Fair Lady

Singing in the Rain

Jekyll and Hyde

Grease

Annie

Guys and Dolls

The Producers

Oh my gosh, Wicked is so good!

I don't have a local theater, so I don't get to see too many shows.

I've seen:

Wicked in Los Angeles

The Phantom of the Opera in New York

Into the Woods on DVD

Cats on DVD

The Phantom of the Opera on DVD

Annie on DVD (both versions, though not the Disney version for awhile)

The Producers

Other stuff that I thought was okay:

Mamma Mia

Grease

Camelot (but it's been awhile since I saw it)

Ummmm... I don't remember. :D

I love me some musicals. I was a pickpocket/orphan in a local production of Oliver! as well as tech crew on the local theatre's production of Wizard of Oz, Irene, and again, Oliver!.

As for some I've seen, I've seen Phantom of The Opera at Shay's in Buffalo, Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat twice as local productions (two different ones, one a college production, the other at Art Park in Buffalo), and recently I saw Billy Elliot and Wicked on Broadway, as well as Wicked once before at Shay's (again). Both were amazing shows.

I can't say I've seen too many musicals myself, but I've absolutely loved every single one. My list includes

-Spiderman the musical

-Into the woods (DVD, but I wish I could have seen it live)

-Wicked

-Book of Mormon

-Chicago

Theatrical music just seems to be so much more powerful than any other kind. I love the story that goes with it, and I love the sheer effort put into every song. Also yes, Spiderman is a musical now. Surprisingly good.
