-----------------------The Search for Harmony-----------------------

The Catalyst devastated Equestria, all those centuries ago. What was once familiar to us, is now alien; the worlds of the frontier, once tamed, are now wild. We are a shadow of our former selves, left to dwindle as the malevolent, wild forces of the vast unknown approach our walls. Though tall, and mighty; these walls will eventually falter. Ever since Twilight Sparkle ascended from this plane, bringing her sisters in harmony, the Elements with her, we have been left defenseless. Until now. You will be my sword; cut a swathe in the vast unknown. You will be my shield, safeguard our way of life, safeguard your brethren. You will search for the harmony that we rightfully own. You are Guardians. Pathfinders of the New Age.

-Starward Sparkle

Consul

You are a Guardian; the sole defense of ponykind. You, and the last vestiges of ponykind live in Star Swirl; the last city, placed under a massive white orb. The Wanderer. An object bent on protecting the city of Star Swirl, and its inhabitants. It is also imbued with a strange power, unlocking the arcane potential within every single life form born and raised under it. For this, Star Swirl is strong, living up to its name. The Guardians who live in, and protect Star Swirl are divided into three castes; The Titans, The Warlocks, and The Hunters. Each with their own unique abilities, these castes work together to defend ponykind from all who threaten it.

What's the differences between castes? And what kind of things would you consider as skills, besides the two you listed already? I'll probably join this. One more, are you putting a limit on the number of characters per person?

Alright, thanks for asking those questions; lemme start

1. The different castes mostly depend on how you fight; Titans are the big guys, with big machine guns, and can take the brunt of hits without doing much to them. Hunters are long ranged and stealth specialists(like their namesake), and Warlocks use the powers given to them by the Wanderer; powerful space magic.

2. A skill is anything that can come in handy, be it in combat, or in normal situations. Anything really, from martial arts, to being a persuasive pony.

3. I'll be playing three characters, so I'd guess the limit would be three. :l

Anyway, thanks again for asking, and I hope this clears things up.

Okay, now I need to make some apps.

Char # 1:

Name: Pyro Blaze

Gender: Male

Race: Unicorn

Caste: Warlock

Skills: Fire magic, swordsmanship, teleportation, limited protection magic, demolitions

Weapon specialty: Longsword, sub-machine gun, shotgun

Personality: Pyro is generally calm and nice, but can get angered easily, especially when he or his friends and allies are being threatened. Pyro is the type that will never give up, not on his task or on others. Pyro bottles up all his negative emotions inside himself to keep himself calm, so sometimes the emotions overflow and make him seem as if he's overreacting.

History: Pyro was born to a couple of great parents. They brought him up very nicely, and instilled strong morals into him. Pyro learned to always do the right thing, no matter the cost. Pyro started learning to control his magic as soon as his parents felt he was old enough. Pyro's main problem with controlling his magic came from his emotions. His emotions would affect the magic in various ways, so Pyro had to get his emotions under control. He slowly gained control over his emotions and his magic, the only problem being his anger. When he's angry, his magic would be more powerful, but it would also become wild and hard to control. Pyro became one of the guardians after completing his learning, joining so he could protect the ones he cared about.

Char # 2:

Name: Xanmas "Xan" Umbrus

Gender: Male

Race: Pegasus

Caste: Hunter

Skills: Sneaking, marksmanship, lockpicking, knife fighting, enhanced senses, speed, recon

Weapon specialty: Sniper rifle, pistols, daggers

Personality: Xan is a cold and calculating pony. He looks for weaknesses to exploit, even in his allies. Xan will complete his mission, even if it means leaving the rest of his team behind to do it. Xan only really shows two emotions. He shows anger, and happiness or amusement. The rest of the time he appears to be apathetic.

History: Xan was born into, and grew up in, a family of hunters. From an early age, Xan learned to be a hunter. His family would regularly try to take him by surprise, which taught him to always be alert and aware of his surroundings. Xan was trained in the use of daggers for close quarters combat, pistols for mid range, and in the sniper rifle for long range attacks. Xan learned to complete the job, no matter the cost. Xan joined the guardians so that he wouldn't get in trouble for killing others, provided those others were the enemy.

Those are the only two characters I really use. If you want me to change anything, tell me.

Name: Winter Rose

Gender: Mare

Race: Unicorn

Caste: Warlock

Skills: Ice magic, invisibility, Persuasion, and charm.

Weapon specialty: Daggers

Personality: Winter is a nice pony with a short temper that will attack any who messes with her or her loved ones. She will protect her friends with all her strength no matter how strong the enemy is.

History: Winter raised herself in the frozen north because she didn’t know who her parents where. She knows what loneliness feels like and won’t let anypony else feels the same way. Throughout her life many things have gone bad but she doesn’t let that affect her outlook on life, but when it’s time to fight she’ll fight even at the cost of her life.

Just for inclusion's sake, I'm going to put up my apps, too. It's late, I know >.< Also, just a note, THIS RP IS NOT FANTASY; IT'S "MYTHIC SCI-FI" (Sorta like the upcoming game Destiny, which is the inspiration for this thread)

Name: Brave Stark

Gender: Male

Race: Unicorn

Caste: Titan

Skills: combat training, inspiring leader

Weapon specialty: Heavy machine guns

Personality: Stark is headstrong, inspiring, and will rally his soldiers to the last. He fights white-knuckled, and will stop at nothing to defend Star Swirl.

History: Born in The Last City on Equestria, Stark always admired the Guardians, and wanted to be just like them. Living near the wall, he would always go up on top of it, to take a look past it. The emptiness of the land around him imbued the young Stark with a sense of adventure. He wanted to be a Guardian, now more than ever. He eventually DID become a Guardian, and took his place as a Column Leader(Captain), inspiring his troops. He currently leads Manehatten Column.

Name: Whitesky Sparkle

Gender: Female

Race: Earth Pony

Caste: Warlock

Skills: telekinesis, war magic, speed

Weapon specialty: Submachine guns, shortsword

Personality: Whitesky is quiet, but not shy. She believes that out there, speech is not necessary. Outside the walls of Star Swirl, her instinct takes over.

History: Born to House Sparkle, the ruling family of Star Swirl (whom were mostly unicorns), Whitesky was immediately brought to the highest point in the city, to touch the Wanderer. She was imbued with special powers, and then trained to be a Warlock at an early age. She was assigned to Manehatten Column, since they lacked a Warlock.

Name: Tracer Foxx

Gender: Male

Race: Earth Pony

Caste: Hunter

Skills: recon, demolition, extensive survival knowledge, infallible sense of direction

Weapon specialty: Shotguns, marksman rifles

Personality: Foxx is rather smug, always trying to outpreform his comrades. This can sometimes get him in danger. Sometimes.

History: Tracer Foxx was born into a family of scavengers, who would always venture outside of the walls to look for useful scraps to salvage. They sometimes went far, and because of this, Foxx, like his parents, developed a sense of direction much better than anypony else's. One fateful day, during a scavenge run, he and his family were attacked by a group of shapeshifters. His father was killed, leaving Foxx to guide his ill mother back to Star Swirl. With the only thing he recovered being his father's shotgun, he signed up to the Guardians, where he was assigned to Manehatten Column, to provide a survival expert.

--------------Act One: The Gathering--------------

"Column, I want this position held!" The buzz of energy blasts whizzing by nearly drowned out Captain Brave Stark, who was holding out a small, but hard-to-defend position, in the middle of nowhere. He fired a few bursts from his own weapon, clearing some of the enemy numbers. "Ten down, Celestia knows how many more to go...." He paused. "Come on, men! Hold the li--"

"WE KNOW. NOW SHUT UP." Another voice called out, carrying an air of intense bravado. Stark sneered at the voice, not noticing the strange beast sneaking up behind him. He turned around, to be greeted by the gaping maw of what could only be from the depths of Tartarus. He recoiled, stumbling back. The beast fell dead, to a jacket-porting Earth stallion, donning a shotgun; Tracer Foxx. "Thanks, Foxx." Stark sighed, holding out a hoof.

Tracer Foxx smirked, pulling his Captain up. "Come on," he said. "We have a line to hold."

Manehatten Column continued to hold the position for a while longer. "COME ON! JUST A FEW MORE MINUTES!" Stark called out. "We can do this!" Despite the Captain's encouragement, the group was quickly retreating to the rear lines. Their defense was buckling, and the ever-increasing horde of beasts wasn't helping. Stark locked and loaded, emptying his last box of magic-boosted ammunition into the invading horde. Foxx was also busy, fighting off the creatures at dangerously short range.

The desert changed to a field of pure white. The simulation was over. HISSSSSS.... The pneumatic hiss of the simulation pods woke Stark up. He stepped out of the pod, along with everypony else. "Good work guys, we did---"

"Horribly."

A robed mare approached Captain Stark, wearing a mask. She took it off, revealing a cream-white visage. Whitesky Sparkle. "If the simulation lasted just a few seconds longer, all of you would have been torn apart by monster teeth." she said, before sighing softly. "Look, just try harder next time, Captain. Also, we have an assignment. Get ready in 10 minutes; we have three recruits." Whitesky handed Stark a few datapads, with the information on the new recruits.

"Hmm... Pyro Blaze.... Xanmas Umbrus.... Winter Rose..." he muttered, leafing through each page on the datapads. Interesting. "Column, get ready to roll out in ten! Bring the Growler Trucks."

Pyro:

Pyro walked to the rendezvous point from his house, checking over his supplies again as he went. "Let's see, I've got my smg, my shotgun, my sword, and some ammo. Hopefully they'll supply me with more, I don't think that ammo's gonna last long once I get into battle." Pyro said, mentally checking off his weapons and supplies as he inspected them. Pyro looked at the path in front of him and smiled. "I'm in, I'm gonna protect this town and everypony in it." Pyro said, sighing in contentment. "Okay, I'm supposed to be meeting the column here. Guess I'm early." Pyro said, sitting down and leaning back against a wall. Pyro looked up at the orb in the sky that protected the city and reached out a hoof towards it. "Now I'm giving back, now I'm helping protect this city, just like you do." Pyro whispered to the white orb, as if it could hear him even if he yelled at it. Pyro lowered his hoof and smiled. Pyro believed that the orb had given him his fire magic so he could help protect the city, so here he was. Pyro gave a start as a voice came out of a nearby alley. Pyro glared in the direction of the now chuckling voice. "I know that, I just felt like saying that anyways. You here for the guardians too?" Pyro asked the stallion. The stallion sat against a wall at the mouth of the alley before responding.

Xan:

Xan flew towards the rendezvous, getting there before anypony else. He went deep into a nearby alley and leaned against a wall. Xan took out his rifle and cleaned it, checking it over as he went. Xan checked his ammo, finding plenty left. His finely honed senses caught every noise nearby, and the sound of another pony approaching did not escape Xan's notice. Xan quietly finished up with his rifle, putting it away when he was done. While he had been doing so, the pony had spoken, revealing himself as a stallion. Xan walked quietly over to where he could see the stallion, who came into view just as he put his hoof down. Xan backed up until he was out of sight again before looking at where the stallion had been pointing. "The Wanderer? You know that thing can't hear you, right?" Xan asked, hearing the stallion's surprised reaction. It caused Xan to start chuckling before moving to the entrance of the alley. Xan sat down and leaned his cloaked body against the wall. Xan had his hood up, so most of his features were hidden. "Yes, I'm here to join the guardians." Xan said, glancing up and down the road for any sign of the column they were supposed to be meeting.

A cold breeze blows through the rendezvous point as a flash of light goes off. Winter stands right where the flash went off and she look around seeing Pyro and Xan. "I-is this where we're supposed to meet for the Guardians?" She asked a bit nervously. She had a pistol strapped to her front left leg and two daggers strapped to her right leg. Her face was hidden by a blue hood and her body was covered by a blue robe. "I-i was told this was the spot." She looks at the Two hoping they're friendly as she walks closer. She slips off her hood showing off her face, she had scars that marked them from her past. Her eyes were two different colors, one's Purple while the other is red. "M-my name's Winter Rose, what are yours?"

Manehatten Column was actually sort of famous within Star Swirl, being the first Column ever. Sure, the roster changed over the years, but they were still well-known nonetheless. The group rolled down the main street on Growler trucks, receiving a good deal of fanfare. Foxx sat back, tipping the brim of his hat over his eyes. He was going to get some rest before crunch time. Ponies waved Manehatten column goodbye. They were on their way. The convoy of heavily-armed trucks came to a stop beside the three recruits, Captain Stark climbing off the back of the lead vehicle. "You must be the new guys." he said. "Hop on." With that, he climbed back on, gesturing for the recruits to follow.

Pyro:

Pyro only nods in response to the hooded stallion as a mare appeared in a flash of light. Pyro nodded to the mare as he looked her over. "Yes, I believe this is the place." Pyro said with a smile. Pyro looked at the mare's eyes as she removed her hood and introduced herself. "I'm Pyro Blaze." Pyro said, introducing himself to the mare. Then he heard trucks coming up the street towards them. Pyro stood as they came to a stop near the three of them. Pyro nodded to the stallion that had spoken to them before climbing in after Winter. Pyro sat down near the mare before smiling warmly at her. "So Winter, what reason do you have for joining the guardians?" Pyro asked the mare.

Xan:

Xan looked at the mare that appeared out of the flash of light. 'Interesting. Two unicorns.' Xan thought as he examined the mare. Xan grunted as the mare asked if this was the right place. As the other unicorn spoke, Xan looked away and simply listened. He could hear the sound of trucks and cheering coming up the road towards them. 'Must be the column I'll be joining.' Xan thought to himself as the other recruits introduced themselves. "Xan" Xan stated simply after the other two had finished. Around this time is when the trucks came to a stop near them. Xan stood and got into the truck after Pyro did. Xan sat off by himself, sizing up the rest of the column that were visible to him.

Three ponies, or rather, three minus one, were the center of attention on the lead truck. The most obvious was the Captain, who was busy explaining a couple things to his troops. Nothing interesting for Xan. The other pony was a bit more interesting. He was a Hunter, like Xan, except he wasn't all "stone-cold and quiet," like the other Hunter had described him. This Hunter was outgoing, always chatting with his comrades. He also wore a cool hat. Finally, this hat-donning Hunter turned to look at Xanmas. "Hah, another Hunter, eh? Hope you're as good as you look. Last guy who filled your shoes was ripped in two by a group of Decaying. Nasty buggers, them." he paused. "Name's Tracer Foxx, and it'd be best if you stay out of my way," Tracer Foxx's tone became ice-cold, dripping with venom. "Lest you want to die a horrible, horrible death."

What a jerk.

Whitesky watched over the group like a hawk, particularly looking at the recruits. They don't seem all that interesting. She thought, before sighing. Her ears twitched at Foxx's voice. He was getting out of line. "Tracer Foxx." she said, giving him a deadly glare. Sure, Stark was the Captain, but Whitesky Sparkle was the boss.

Xan:

Xan looked around at the others in the truck, especially a pony in a hat. Xan recognized him as being another hunter. The hunter only confirmed Xan's theory when he started speaking. Xan only grunted when the hunter spoke of the last hunter being killed by Decaying. Then the hunter introduced himself before giving a warning to stay out of his way. Xan smiled grimly before speaking to Tracer. "It's going to be like that? Fine, I'll stay out of your way. Just remember..." Xan said, turning solemn before continuing. "Your warning applies to you too. Stay out of my way and we won't have any problems." Xan said, his expression matching Tracer's tone.

Winter smiles back. She plays with her hoofs looking at the captain. "I-i joined this because it seems like a family. I've never really had a family so this is as close as i could get." her smile fades away thinking about her past as a single tear rolls down her face. she wipes her tear away and looks at Pyro and Xan. "So why did you two join?" She said with a slight sniffle.

Pyro:

Pyro examined some of the ponies in the truck with him while he waited for Winter's response. When she started talking, Pyro turned back to her and listened. Pyro frowned at the mention of her not having a family. "That's too bad. Families are awesome, most of the time at least. Anyways, I joined so I could protect others." Pyro said after Winter had finished talking. Pyro looked around again, his eyes lingering on a cloaked mare that looked like she was in charge. Pyro glanced back and forth between her and the captain in slight confusion. 'Wait, is the captain in charge, or is she? They both look like they're in charge.' Pyro thought to himself.
