Hippo Posted December 17, 2015 Report Share Posted December 17, 2015 I think what I would like to do for the playoffs is have a pre-playoff bracket prediction. Everyone can participate, and for getting a win right in the wildcard round you get 1 point, for getting a win right in the divisional round is 2 points, championship round 3 points, and Superbowl 5 points. The losing team doesn't matter, only the prediction, so if you predict the Patriots will win the Superbowl against the panthers, but they win against the packers, you still get 5 points. All predictions for all rounds are turned in after week 17 and before the playoffs begin. If you guys want to do this, we'll do it. Mojo's seperate playoff game remains. Gerrard must defend his title. The weekly pick'em on NFL.com/fantasy that we're doing runs through the playoffs, so there will be no change of format for that. However, it does give everyone 11 more games to try and catch me. Unfortunately, it appears the 5 and 10 win bonuses are completely out of the equation. But if you get all 4 games in the wildcard, it could award you 40 for the games, plus 50 for getting 'all games that week' correct. So if I got 3-1 in the wildcard, and someone else goes 4-0, they would end up getting 60 more points than me that week. That is a game changer, if in fact that is how it works. Mojo Posted December 21, 2015 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2015 Now is the time to repost our 'two-tier' tiebreaker system, it's the exact same one we used last season: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And now, with the 'playoffs' looming in a few weeks, here's the tie-breaking method we'll use just in case two or more game players end up with an equal number of points/wins at the end of Week 17.Basically, we're going to employ a two-tier tiebreaking system that shall be based on regular season game play.Tie-breaker #1: Number of weeks participating in the gameThis will be the first tie-breaker. For example, if Player A and Player B each end the season with 12 points/wins, with Player A having picked teams in 15 weeks while Player B picked in all 17 weeks, then Player B wins the tie-breaker due to number of weeks participation. (UPDATE - A "DQ" counts as a week 'not played' since that result cannot be used to calculate the Tier Two Tie-Breaker)However, if two or more players are tied AND they've played equal number of weeks in the game, then it falls to Tie-Breaker #2:Tie-Breaker #2 - Points differentialIf two or more players are tied in points/wins AND have equal weeks of participation, then all of the games with teams they selected will be examined. Margins of victory/defeat will be added up and the higher total number of margin points will win the tie-breaker. Margins of victory will be added as POSITIVE numbers while margins of defeat will be NEGATIVE numbers for the purpose of this calculation. It is highly unlikely that in THIS scenario that there would still be a tie.IF there are still tied numbers after this, the tie-breaker of last resort will be a coin flip.Order of finish in the regular season will be VERY important when it comes to the playoff portion of our game.Any questions?
