Another day had gone by, can and her routine had been finished seven times over at this point. Being a showmare in Las Pegasus wasn't an easy business with all the competition around, and being a good one was even harder. A performer could never rely on the same act for really more than a week or two at a time before they had to change to up. But changing it up many you were still ready to go. A performer that had a name for herself like Wind Dancer now had also meant that she was in high demand.

As it stood now though, Wind Dancer found herself at the end of her day, sitting in of the restaurant bars in the Mareage letting herself wind down and relax after her performances. She'd been pushing herself harder and harder trying to get better and more controled with her routines ago that she could do them inside more without potentially damaging something. After all, wind want supposed to be generated indoors for a reason.

She chose to sit in one of the larger booths in the back to let her wings unfurl a bit as well. She'd been pushing herself so much that she was feeling some soreness in them and didn't want to start aggravating old injuries. She sit and sipped on a hard cider as she watched the others meandering through the casino.

Vera looked around the area as he walked through the restaurant, humming to himself. The hippogriff was looking for a place to sit, hopefully with someone to foot the bill onto. Thankfully, he seemed to find just that in a pegasus mare sitting by herself. Sauntering over, he smiled at her, looking at the empty space.

"Got room for one more? I'm looking for a place to sit and eat in here. You look like an interesting mare, I'd like to get to know you better." He smiled at her, waiting for her response before trying to sit down.

It didn't take long for a mare like herself to find company. The pony that took interest in her this time though actually wasn't a pony at all. He was a Hippogriff with long of an orangish tan coat. He came up to her and inquired of the seat was taken and noted that she was and interesting mare. It wasn't the first time that she'd heard somepony tell her that, though normally she was still in one of hey performance uniforms when they did. She'd wait and see how much he actually meant the get to know you part as the conversation moved along. She'd been told that numerous times by others that didn't actually care about her at all and just wanted hey name either for publicity, or to try to get other endorsements from her. At the very least the griff didn't seem that bad so she motioned to the empty booth with a wing. "Sure, take a seat. I don't bite, much and it's always nice to have somepony else to talk with once and a while that's not an agent, a competitor, or a loan shark. Seriously, avoid those... They're called sharks for a reason," she spoke in reply.

"Hey, I've met actual loan shark. There are some wild places under the water, sometimes." He chuckled, taking a seat in the booth and looking her over. "So, resting after a workout or something? Looks like you had quite the workout if so, I should know. I like to keep in shape, practice some boxing." Vera smiled at her, picking up a menu to look through the available choices. Let's see what they had available here...

Ah, right. He was a Hippogriff. Which meant around water he was a seapony. At least she thought that was how that worked... She honestly couldn't remember. Still though, she couldn't help but wonder if a loan 'shark' was Joey as crooked as the ponies here or if they would be offended of their name being used looked that.

When he asked Wind if she had just finished working out, she shook her head. He further added that he knew there importance of keeping in shape. "Nah, I'm a showmare. I just got done performing today. I'm a solo performer using Wind to exclamate my dance routines. But i do have to take some days to get some therapy done myself to keep my strength in my wing. That and I have to keep myself fit so that my winds don't have more weight to hold than needed," she commented. Is the stallion looked closely, he could spot the scar on her left wing, not really being hidden, but not really it on the open either.

“Well, sounds like that can be quite the workout on its own, so hey.” Vera shrugged, looking over the menu at her and noticing the scar. He paused for a moment, debating whether he should ask about it or not, but eventually went for it.

“So, what happened there? Accident during practice or something?” He asked, pointing to the scar so she knew what he was talking about. He had some scars himself, in various places.

"It can be. Dancing requires vigorous use of several muscles at once so depending on what routines I do, it can be a very thorough work out I suppose," Wind Dancer smiled as waiter came over to them and topped off her drink while taking the griff's order that was next to her now.

After a few moments Vera then asked about what happened pointing to her wing. Asked if it was a training accident. She shook her head. "Nope. This happened when I was still a filly in Cloudsdale. A storm was rolling in and I got caught up in it and completely wrapped my wing around one of the cloud stone pillars. Required several extensive surgeries to repair and a lot of training to get back to where I could fly and do everything that I can now today," she said with a smile.

Vera nodded in agreement to the talk of dancing being strenuous sometimes. He figured as much. After giving his order, he looked over at her and listened as she spoke of what gave her the scar.

“Childhood accident, huh? I know how that goes, been in some myself.” He nodded some more, gazing over the rest of the room.

"It happens from time to time and there's not a lot that can be done about it. The ones that are the strongest are the ones that can overlook and overcome the trials of life to make a name for themselves regardless of the hand that life deals them." She said looking out over the casino. The constant sounds of cards, dice, and bells became nothing more than a dull roar for her at this point. She never really saw the appeal in gambling. Sure there was the prospect of a bit winning potential, but... she'd also seen it ruin more lives than anything else. Those who do win big often end up even more worse for ware. Those whom have never had wealth will not know how to manage that wealth and soon find themselves at the mercy of the government and then they start everything over again. Still, places like this paid her to perform not give her views on how ponies operate inside them.

"So tell me. I know that Las Pegasus attracts ponies and creatures from all parts of the globe. It has enough attractions here to make an amusement part blush. What was it that set your sites on Las Pegasus? The sights? the games? the prospect of wealth?" she asked as the waiter came back over. "Salad, Ceaser, Extra shredded cheese," she ordered with a smile as the waiter looked over to the Griffon.

“Very true, very true indeed.” He nodded to the first words, listening to her speak until the conversation turned to him. The waiter arrived before he could answer, and the mare gave her order.

“I’ll take a burger and fries. As for why I’m here, I’m a wanderer. Or an explorer, if you’d rather. I like to travel the world, see what each place has to offer before moving on to the next.” Vera explained to the mare, leaning back in the booth.

The waiter nodded to the both of them and then zipped to the back to put them in. Once he had, Wind's attention went back to Vera. His ambitions for Las Pegasus wasn't much at least according to his words. A traveler passing through until an area had offered all it could for him. It remained to be seen though if his merit matched his words. All it took was one good hit on one of the machines for the casino to hook it's next victim.

Still she nodded. "This place definitely has a lot to offer for those who go looking for it. Just got to make sure you're looking in the right places because you can find just as much trouble as well. Plenty of gangs and ponies trying to take advantage of others here. The number one rule of Las Pegasus is that everything has a price, and there's so such thing as free. There's always a catch," Wind commented. If there was one thing that this city has taught her, it was too read the fine print on everything you touch.

“That’s true, you gotta be careful in places like this. One benefit of my lifestyle, things can be free if you manage to avoid the catch.” He winked at her, letting her figure that one out herself. Wasn’t that hard, really, but no point spelling it out in a place like this. He’d skipped out on things like that before, either just moving on or fighting his way out when they caught up. He leaned back with a sigh, his head tilting back to rest a bit. Doing so revealed a somewhat faint scar on the front of his throat.

"That can prove to be true of most places, but usually not here. A lot of the ponies here are more powerful than you think they are, and are really, really good at hiding that fact," she said as she watched him lead back to relax a bit. when he did, she noticed the scar on his neck. It looked like he wasn't a newcomer when it came to dealing with the underhooved parts of society. As she was going to comment on it, the waiter brought out their food. Using her wing to grasp a fork, she began to eat. She took a couple bites before looking back up to the Griffon. "Seems that you're not unaccustomed to trouble yourself," she commented. "Been in a few scuffles I take it?" she said noticing the injury without drawing too much attention to it.

“Well yeah, of course. Unless you mean this one?” He said, gesturing to his neck. “This one is another one of those childhood accidents. I’ve always been adventurous, poking my head into places I shouldn’t be. Unfortunately, that time there was a rather angry relic. At least, I assume that’s why it did it’s thing like that. Maybe it was just cranky from being disturbed.”

“Either way, I haven’t been able to lie since then.” He shrugged before picking up his food to take a bite. The hippogriff let that hang in the air as he kept eating, letting the mare break the silence if she wanted to.

"Interesting... Rumor has it there was an altercation involving this artifact over at the Fire & Ice hotel and casino. Lots of smoke, pirates, broken windows... And an alarming amount of military out of seemingly nowhere... Definitely a place to keep an eye on. She's one of those ponies that's more powerful than she lets on, I know it," Wind stated.

"So, you can't lie huh? What do you honestly think about this place? And I don't mean just the casino... Las Pegasus as a whole? Don't know how much interaction you've had with others yet since being here. It would be nice to get an unbiased outsiders view of this place."

"Seems like an interesting place to me. Fun even, if you're careful and know how to navigate it. And sometimes fun if you don't." He chuckled to himself before taking another bite. "I can appreciate a good brawl though from time to time, so that part's not for everyone. Kinda funny that that's the first thing you ask when learning someone can't lie, what they think of the area. Not like there's all that many objective truths to that kind of question."

"Well, I could have asked a lot of things, but I figured the less invasive would be the best course of action considering we literally just met. I mean, there are unfortunately a lot of ways a pony could abuse said knowledge of your ability/curse however you tend to interpret it. Being a showmare myself, I know what it's like to get exploited from time to time and have learned how to avoid it for one and not do the same to others. However if you would like to voice other opinions, I would not object," Wind replied.

"I would be among those ponies that tries to avoid brawls, and my manipulation over wind makes it easier to avoid the unsavory types. If they try to cause problems, I blow then away," she said with a smile.

“Fair enough then, guess I’m just used to meeting more nosy creatures. And I wouldn’t call it an ability if it took something away and the only thing it left behind was a scar.” Vera shrugged, chuckling at Wind’s words about blowing them away. “I can blow them away too, though less literally. Punch someone hard enough, they’ll definitely feel blown away. Or they’ll literally be launched a bit.”

"I can see what you mean by that, as it sounds like you didn't have a choice in the matter. I can also see how something like that can get in the way of things," Wind said smirking a bit when the griffon said that he could blow ponies away as well, albeit less literally. Though he added a good punch could send them flying.

At that point, Wind dropped some bits on the table. The amount seeming more than enough to cover both tabs and the tip before standing up and stretching. "Let us get out of here and find someplace more comfortable outside. Las Pegasus has a lot of nice parks that are pretty well protected and a breath of fresh air would do me well after being in a smoke ridden casino all day," Wind smiled motioning for the griffon to join her.

Vera glanced at the bits on the table, humming slightly to himself. Well, saved him the trouble of trying to ditch her to make her pay, that was good. He nodded to her words, getting up from the table with her and following her out. This was going much smoother than he had expected, but he wondered what the catch was for this free meal. If it was just spending time with her, then no big deal.

“A park sounds good to me, fresh air will be nice.” He agreed as the two of them walked out.

It didn't take long for Wind to lead them outside. The fresh air outside coming in stark contrast to the air inside the casino. She started leading them towards one of her favorite parks. It wasn't too far from her apartment. There were fields as far as could be, which was more than could be said about the desert around them. Brown and sightless sand, tough the mountains in the distance were a nice touch at times.

Wind let out a sigh as she laid on one of the hills letting the breeze flow around her. "One of the few bright spots of this place. Well, bright as in good. They at least take great pride in keeping this park clean and safe. It's also been a bit cooler than most places in the city which is nice," she smiled. She knew that outside of the shows she put on there wasn't much to herself. Of course she herself wasn't great at starting conversation that didn't go down weirder paths unintentionally.

“Yeah. This looks like a nice park.” Vera nodded, wandering a bit in order to explore the immediate area before coming back and laying down near her.

“Thanks for paying back there. What’s the catch for that one?” He asked with a chuckle, watching the sky for now.

Wind raised an eyebrow a bit when the griffon asked what the catch was for her paying for his meal. Was it that common among his society for everything to come at a price? She then paused for a moment in thought. In reality, Las Pegasus wasn't too much better in that regard. She thought back to her own warning about the city that she gave earlier and it made sense.

She watched as he surveyed the surrounding area as well. He's notice that there were a few other couples out strolling the paths as well as a decent amount of security. When he sat back down, Wind answered. "Just a bit of companionship. It's nice to talk to somepony that's not looking for weaknesses to exploit at a later date," she said with a softer smile.

Vera gave a hum at her response, simply watching the sky some more. Well, that was good, it was something as simple as sticking around for a bit. The hippogriff was more than willing to hang out with the mare for now, this was a nice place and she seemed like good company so far.

“So, what do you do with your free time aside from sit around here?” He asked, wondering if she had any activities in mind.
