Motivation: Ashwood wants to help Earth Ponies and Pegasi to become more involved in the arts and letters and to promote a better access to arts in general for the masses. He aspires to build ties with influential figures in Equestria to reach his long-term goal and consider his professions as a scribe and an occasional journalist as a great asset to do so.

Dislikes: noise, heat, crowd, teamwork

Character Summary: Ashwood mother, Lightfeather is librarian and his father, Steel Pen is historian and archivist. They met as Steel Pen was teaching Equestria history in Manehattan college, Lightfeather being one of his student. He taught her his most precious knowledge, his family writing technique.

Very young Ashwood was already surrounded by books and was fascinated by the stories his parents read him. Most of the ponies at the public library were unicorns and Ashwood soon discovered it was far easier for them to continue studying than for other ponies, considering their magic was of considerable help to handle the quill.

After much practice he succeeded to follow the path of his parents and write by holding a pen nib between his teeth. Demonstrating his talents to Swift Ink, an elderly but renowned unicorn scribe, this one took the decision to make him his pupil so he could perfect the unusual technique his family passed on from generation to generation. Determined to pursue his passion he trained endlessly until the day he finally rivaled his mentor quality and speed of his writing. The feat earned him his cutie mark.

At the moment he works as a scribe and courier for the nobless of Manehattan and takes commands to write articles for various local newspapers. He lives in his own flat and rarely visit his parents as his relations with his father are tense. This one considers Ashwood will to generalize their family writing technique to as many earth ponies and pegasus as possible as a personal treason. He often visits his venerable mentor, this one always being prompt to cheer him up in periods of doubt.

Argh I should have worked on it this week-end and I skipped on it -_-

If I have to go further in detail about how he got his cutie mark it gonna need a full RP, I can't just do things half X_X

For his other interests I don't know how pertinent it gonna be to develop more than the likes category. I could tell he prefer mint tea to grey tea and oak forests to gardens but is it really relevant?

The application form specified to keep the character summary simple, how long should I go exactly?

Reading over this I think the cutie mark story is fine, any deep elaboration can be explored through story telling in the RP at your leisure. My only question would be what does he do for living, or aspire to. He sounds like he wants to do something that involves writing, and literature given the effort he went through to write with such a difficult instrument as an earth pony. He hopes to be a novelist? Librarian? Journalist? Does he have any particular dream that involves his great skill and apparent love of books or writing. It doesn't have to be detailed, just an idea what he wants to do or anything great he hopes to yet achieve. This may greatly help in where to take him in the RP.

Interesting, an Earth pony scribe. I like the idea and the cutie-mark story. I would suggest expounding upon his personality more. While there is information about him, I don't see any depth at the moment. Developing the personality gives other people a look into how the pony thinks and operates. I would also like to see how he transcribes without the use of magic! Does he use his mouth, hold the quill between his hooves. or does he have a special "brace" that attaches the quill to one hoof allowing him to use the other hoof for turning pages? Maybe a little history about his parents as well. All in all I would just like to see a little more personality wise on this pony. Why does he strive for his goal? Was there a defining moment where he knew that he wanted to help proliferate the arts to other ponies? Just some thoughts!

Again I like the pony and the cutie-mark story, I just wanted to throw some ideas out there for you to work with. I hope they help.

Strange, I was thinking I already wrote how he handles the quills, perhaps I erased it by mistake when I rewrote his summary.

He holds the quill between his mouth, its not a real feather of course as it would be very uncomfortable.

I gonna need to improve that but I work on a fanfic at the same time, kinda eat a good deal of my free time at the moment.

Updated things but I could still work on the parents bio I guess :/

Only if you feel that would add to his story, it isn't required at all.

Does his political writings ever get him in trouble? They seem a mean to an end (to get earth ponies and Pegasus more involved in the arts), but does he also have a vested interested in politics (or at least politics that in some way involve his dream)?

You have a solid application here. Don't forget to change the [WIP] tag to [FINAL] when you feel it's finished, or it won't be assessed.

Oh, and something I should point out:

Ashwood's Cutie Mark appears to very closely resemble Quillhorn's Cutie Mark, as well as Grim Tales' and Inkwell.

We don't like ponies to have the exact same Cutie Mark, although they can be similar. It would be great if you could come up with something that makes your pony's Cutie Mark unique compared to others.
