You are not required to pick a pony all for your avatar or name, or to post on this site, or anything. If you are talking about the official RP section, you can create your own character, or if you are looking to play a cast character, then from those available on the cast list (note, all background ponies who are not listed are available, we only list those someone has applied to play and been accepted). In either case, please check out the rules about posting and RP applying.When posting on forums outside of the Roleplaying sections, a person posts as themselves (Car0t, in this case) and not as a character. For RP posts, as I mentioned in your introduction thread, characters for roleplaying have to be applied for (and then only used in the RP section), and we already have a Lyra/Heartstrings in the RP at this time, so they wouldn't be available to play in the Equestria Mane RP.
