Character Summary:

Moonlight was born to a pair of gypsies on the longest night of the year –the Winter Solstice. The night of her birth also happened to be the first night after the new moon, and the shining silver crescent lit up the woods with its magical power. She was named after the moon’s brilliance as it danced over the snowy ground and through the frost-bitten tree branches. As spring approached, the caravan she lived with began to move through the Everfree Woods from their winter lodges. The little foal traveled with them, and soon grew into a beautiful young filly. Her mother, Silver Moon and grandmother, Moon Shadow taught her the secret arts of working with herbs, using magic, and foretelling the future; while her father Swift Wind taught her survival skills which would come in handy while living in the forest.

One night after the Summer Sun Celebration, Moonlight Shimmer was gathering herbs by the light of the full moon. She suddenly heard a crash, and instinctively turned toward the camp grounds of the caravan. One of the wagons had been flipped over, and a large bird was circling the camp and making dives at the ponies inside. She immediately dropped her plants and rushed to aid her family. She had never been as skilled at magic as her mother or grandmother, but as she saw the large bird swoop upon them something inside exploded and she released a beam of glittering silver light from her horn. This beam struck the bird from behind and scared the fudge out of it. It immediately flew away squawking, and Moonlight rushed to her family.

Her grandmother Moon Shadow gleamed with pride, but couldn't get up from the ground. The large bird had slashed her with a talon, and Moonlight knelt beside her. She lifted her eyes to the moon, and used her magic to draw the silver energy into her horn. As it glowed with power, the filly touched the wound of her grandmother. It immediately healed itself, and everyone rejoiced at this wonderful use of magic. It seems that helping people with magic was the filly’s destiny, and she embraced it whole-heartedly; this caused her cutie mark to appear with a flash. She soon grew into a capable mare who had command of her magic powers, and an extensive knowledge of herbal medicine. She always cared for members of the caravan if they became injured or ill, and made sure to learn as much as she could about healing and magic. Years later when she was a young mare, she decided it was time to leave the caravan, and strike out on her own. She packed up a small wagon and headed to Ponyville, which is close to the winter lodges of her family, but is still populated enough to keep her occupied.

It was a rough start in Ponyville. Moonlight had never been away from her family before, and never really had to interact with strangers. She moved into a cabin near the woods where she had some privacy. She was known around the town as a recluse and a witch, and rumors abounded about her. The young mare soon stopped going into town at all, and kept to herself. A few ponies were able to befriend her, and tried to stop the rumors about her; but the town still viewed her as suspicious at best. The treatment of the villagers never caused Moonlight to resent them, but it did make her very introverted, shy, and standoffish. She only really warms up to ponies after they have proven they are trustworthy; and as such has very few friends, and almost never attends parties or celebrations. Her warm heart and kindness endear her to the ponies who were brave enough to gain her trust, and she always helps anyone who ventures into her cabin seeking help. Her healing powers are greatest at the full moon, and this is the only occasion where she can call down the lunar power to heal serious injuries. She works with herbs, and very simple magic for everyday injuries and illnesses.

Her powers tend to fluctuate with the moon cycles, but she is still a competent healer almost all of the time. She is also able to heal during the day, although her powers are slightly weakened. Most nights she has to recharge by meditating in her garden underneath the blessed lunar sphere. Since she never attended a magic school, some unicorns may find her magic unrefined; but it is the magic of her family, and the moon, and she is determined to keep it alive.

I like the application thus far and just have a couple questions before proceeding to stamp it:

You mention Fortune-Telling earlier but never elaborate on it afterwards. Is this just a minor thing she does to make some bits through Tarot reading rather than being able to truly see specific future events? (The former is alright, the latter not so as it interfere with others ability to guide their characters).

You mention her magical energy is at its strongest during the full moon, but also during the new moon, however the latter has no moonlight to speak of (as all reflective light from the moon is reflected away); I would imagine this is the weakest point for her (the more of the moon lit up, the more she can use).

What is the state of her magic during the day? (Or does she just general sleep at day time?)

Overall I feel this app is very well done, and just needs a couple of elaborations (hence the questions). :)
