Plots for Starlight

Alright, I have been brainstorming a lot of ideas for Starlight, this little fella up here.

For those who don't know him, he cannot walk properly on clouds because he was born prematurely. Owing to his size. And thus his wings aren't fully mature, but will eventually work with the proper spark.

Because of this, his parents left him in the care of his 'aunt', Spearmint the dentist until he could learn to fly and so he wouldn't have any hazardous accidents in Cloudsdale.

So he is dedicated to learning to fly, which he believes won't only earn him a place by his parent's sides, but also his cutiemark.

I'm here to discuss that spark.

Unknownst to Starlight he has a very powerful little singing voice which I would like to eventually be the spark to spurr him into atleast managing to hover.

If anyone has any suggestions, or any pony's that would like to help be apart, I'd love to hear any contribution! <3

I think it would be neat if Starlight was singing about how someday he would fly while dreaming/imagining he was flying.

I quite like that idea, he'd need something to spurr him into singing, he isn't quite the confident little thing.

Just like, a day dream that he gets caught up in, maybe chasing a butterfly...then he ends up jumping off tables and over streams.

Maybe he could hear Sweetie Bell sing and join in while hiding... only to get himself caught. Or Grim could hear him and offer to write him a song hoping to help them both get their marks.

Maybe all of us could do a compilation? Put in our lyrics (if we can think up any) and see if we can mix any or choose the one we like the best!

I wroted you a song.

Starlight's Song:

Fast as the birds and high as the clouds

Dashing through the sky, but seems I'm not allowed

Goggles strapped on and helmet latched tight

Starlight's Song (with actions):

Starlight watching as a butterfly floats by. He follows it, until it starts to fly higher. He jumps, flapping his wings, but falls back to the ground. He watches the butterfly, with wings so much smaller than his, fly away, too fast and too high.

'Someday I'll fly....Someday.'

Starlight goes to sit on a bench, watching a bird fly away from the top of the table as he sits down and sighs. He places his goggles over his eyes, then moves to stand on the table, spreading his wings. He takes a running start from one edge of the table, and leaps off at the end. He soars into the air, above trees and clouds, looking down over Ponyville.

'Up there in the clouds is where I want to be

Flying fast, daring dives, and soaring so free

Fast as the birds and high as the clouds

Dashing through the sky, but seems I'm not allowed.'

Starlight glances back as his wings lower to his sides and his dream world fades, leaving Starlight still standing on the table. He jumps down, and slides under the table, where the ground beneath his feet turns dark and cloudy. He looks up, and sees the stars of the night sky.

'Goggles strapped on and helmet latched tight

I'd soar with the stars in the dark of the night.

Nopony could stop me from living my dreams

But flying up so high is far off, so it seems...'

Starlight climbs out from under the table, watching the sun beginning to set. He starts to walk back home, but sees a high hillâ€â€Âan excellent place to jump off of to fly. He runs toward it, wings spread, continuing his song.

'Still I'll try and I'll practice, I'll flap and I'll grow

'til one day they'll watch as I put on a show!'

He dreams once again that he is flying, having gained lift off from the hill. He dives toward a crowd of ponies that has gathered, coming dangerously close to their heads. Starlight even spots his parents in the crowd.

'Equestria! They'll all know my name!

Equestria! They'll all talk of my fame!

I'll be so amazing, everypony will cheer,

They'll ask for my picture whenever I'm near!'

Starlight's wings once again slide to his sides, as the sun sets behind his back while he walks home. He stares up at the clouds in the darkening sky.

'I'll be so much more than they could ever foresee

I'll be so much more...but for now I'm just me.'

He imagines Cloudsdale, with the smiling faces of his parents welcoming him home.

'And the thing I just want most of all is to be

Living up in Cloudsdale with mom and daddy.'

The dream fades, all of it gone. Starlight continues the trek to Spearmint's house, trying to be determined and tough.

'I'll show them all

That my wings aren't too small...'

His face droops toward the ground, wondering just how far off that day will be, and if it will ever come.

'But until that day, I'm still stuck on the ground

Stuck way down here, just walking around.'

He spreads his wings once again, finding new determination. At least he has wings. Things could be

worse. And so, Starlight spreads his wings and runs home, continuing his dream of flight.

'But someday I'll be, so more much than I am.

Someday I'll fly, yes I know I can!'
