  2. Yeah, though I can't think of a way to implement it into the profile without making it seem contrived. Something I'll probably expand on during RPs, or add on to later.
  3. No thanks, it would ruin the love I have for this character. I love romanticization of fighter pilots ^^ [unabashed Crimson Skies fan]
  4. I just have one question. How he fly with hooves xD?
  5. As my two bits, I'd say having a streetlamp lighter/snuffer be an interesting job, I think that'd make Flickerlight the only one with that job.
  6. Darkwing Pony for the Mare Do Well costume, anypony?Edit: I do agree with a lot of the others. The episode felt a little different. New Writer and everything, probably. Hopefully the next episode brings back the MLP we all fell in love with.
  7. Just to work on the syntax of this, the end of the profile is a massive wall of text, lol. It would make it easier for critics/modstaff to read if it was given some paragraph breaks ^^
  8. Oh dear I missed the Crossover part. I feel like the biggest ass now.
  9. Roleplay Type: Mane Name: Muggo' Ale Sex: Male Age: Stallion Species: Earth Pony Eye colour: Sea green Coat colour: Green Mane/Tail/Markings colour & Style: Gray, unkempt mane and tail, thinning a little at the front for the mane though Muggo' does keep it short. Physique: A bit taller and stockier than most stallions. Cutie Mark: A rosewood tankard Origin/Residence: Fillydelphia Occupation: Brewmaster and barman of The Prancing Pony, a pub in Fillydelphia Motivation: Keep his family business going, let people have a fun environment to relax in after a hard day of work. Character Summary: The Prancing Pony is a fine establishment, to those that love it. Right on the border of the dock area and the business district, the bar was originally build by Pewter Stein, a stallion from Hoofington who came over for a fresh start after the death of his wife. Taking his son, Stout Ale, to Fillydelphia, Pewter Stein soon had a fair sized pub built in the basement of an old apartment building. The pub expanded within a year, with the main floor of the apartment becoming the new pub, and the basement being a dance hall, billiards room, and general entertainment room, while the upper floor of the apartment became the loft for Pewter and Stout. In the pub, once it grew from small pub under an apartment into the larger establishment, was both a kitchen for food, and a brewery for the alcohol. Muggo' had become quite proficient with it. A few years later, and Pewter ended up too old to run the establishment. That fell to Stout and Stout's wife. Soon, Muggo' was born. He was born into the atmosphere of the pub...the happy ponies done a long day's work, eating, drinking and having a great time. When he was old enough to help, Muggo' was on the floor, carrying trays of food and drinks from the kitchen to the tables, and generally having a good time. He gained his cutie mark that way, helping out in the bar...like most of the ponies in his family, he had a pub-based cutie mark. As his father got older, and Muggo' did too, it was time to pass on the torch. His father managed the bar but mostly just hung out with some older regulars, while Muggo' both ran the brewery, perfecting some of the recipes of his father's creations, and running the pub itself when night comes and it's time to cater to the tired workers of the business and dock districts. He loves his job, loves the whole atmosphere of the pub life. He knows he'll have to eventually get married, and teach his son how to run the Pony. But until then, Muggo' will enjoy his happy-go-lucky life that he's got. He has a place to work, live, and learn all sorts of new stories. He has a great life, and it shows in his personality: cheerful, though a little boisterous at times. 10. "That is true. I hope it works out for you, starting up a new business is hard. But with the hot weather, I'm sure you'll get business. Especially once the tourist season starts." Wind Rider said, tilting his neck to retrieve a leather pouch from a pocket on his shirt. He set the pouch on the counter and tipped it over, pushing three bits toward her. "One for the ice cream, and two because hey, you can always use a bit of money." he said with a smile. He wanted to make sure that she succeeded in her venture, and a little tip went a long way. He put the pouch back in his pocket and smiled. "And there's an ad in the paper, so people are bound to come."
  11. Wind had to think for a bit as to who the pony was. Her name had been on the ad, and he'd met her before, at least in passing. But he had met a lot of ponies in the town, and his memory for names was never good. "Hold on a moment, it's on the tip of my tongue." he said, tapping a right hoof gently against the ground for a moment. It was cold in the shop...cold like... "Arctic Sun, right?" he said with a smile. "I'll go for strawberry, for now. How's business? Anyone but me come in yet?"
  12. Wind Rider had just finished his morning patrol of the area, not having spotted much of anything from the air that morning. He had three patrols, every day: two hours in the morning, two in the afternoon, then two at night. Wind Rider was always on time for his patrols, and always thorough...and on some days he'd even patrol longer than needed. Today though, he'd received a paper at his house. He'd read it before his patrol, and seen an ad for an ice-cream shop. He wasn't going to lie, Wind hadn't had ice-cream in a very long time. Not only that, he liked to support the local businesses, so when he finished his patrol, hot from flying all morning in the sun, he made his way to town. The door opened, and in walked Wind. He had his standard tan campaign hat on, tied around his jaw to keep it on, and a green vest on, his uniform. "Good morning." he said pleasantly, smiling. He quickly shook his head back, the hat sliding down the back of his head and resting on his neck. "How are you?" he asked as he walked up to the counter to check out the prices for ice-cream.
  13. While not a lucid dream, I had an entirely trippy dream a few days ago where I woke up, had an entirely full day back in my hometown, an amazing day I might add, went to bed, woke up back here in Ottawa, fully unable to decipher what day it was because, as part of my dream, that day had ALREADY PASSED. Really threw me for a loop. I had to check a calendar three times and preform a self-test to make sure I wasn't dreaming and to properly figure out what day it was.
  14. A fake fortune teller? Yeeeees, I love it
  15. Thanks for the pleasant reaction, that made me happy. A lot of people get right snippy when you critique their characters. I just want to say that Sandstream's powers just can't exist under the mane RP without special consideration from mods. Under the rule "No Godmoding", at least as I interpret it, there can be no travelling through time, nor having control over the balance of the world. This would give Sandstream an almost God-like power over the RP world. For example, who decides what that balance is? The balance, to me, implies not just Equestria, but the entire world, including Germaney, Itaily, the Griffon lands, Zebra lands, etc. One pony can't, or at least in my opinion, shouldn't, have the ability to have control over not only the events that shaped what's happened so far, but to decide what entitles "balance". What if a character decides to do something that upsets the "balance" of the world. In their mind they did nothing wrong, but would you have Sandstream reverse in some way what happened, to maintain what you decide is the "balance" of the RP? I can see that rubbing ponies the wrong way. What I meant about the "taking notes" part, was that the way you have it written implies to me that she travels through time and records what she experiences to be omniscient. If she took notes about her own life that's fine, but for now, simply "everything" implies to me, given Sandstream's powers, well, everything. In addition, when I asked about adding more descriptions for the parents, while it's true it's not needed, for the moment they seem to be relatively important characters in Equestria...the first omniscient pony oracle, and the first pony seen with the ability to become truly invisible. Having no precedent to these characters, a bit more information would be nice, especially if I'm reading the wrong way into the characters. Now, all this being said, you can still have a mysterious character with a thing for "balance". However, having the character have the God-like powers to travel through time to manipulate the events of the world to maintain a sense of balance that you write down, I don't think that's the way to go. The mane RP isn't the kind of place for a character like this...there are no world-changing events that happen so far as I can see, just everyday adventures involving everyday ponies. In my opinion, to have this character work, given the criteria of "mysterious character, concepts of balance", you could have Sandstream almost Buddhist in a way: a view on the world that involves a want for balance and zen and flow, and while Sandstream can believe in the world being balanced, the mane RP doesn't really allow for having the power over time to force her will of balance on the RP. Also, all in all, this is just my opinion. A member of the modstaff may completely overturn everything I said. But from what I've seen of RP rules and the few RPs I've read, Sandstream as she stands now is not an acceptable RP character. I like the base concept, quite a bit, it's very unique. But it's the powers she have that make her, in my mind, no able to be accepted. Edit: I'm not trying to butt heads here. I'm just saying, from what I've seen of other apps and the RP itself, what I think modstaff would tell you. I may be entirely wrong, I'm only human. Don't take this as meaning I hate you or anything, I love the character and I'm sure you're a great person.
  16. Interesting character, but personally I have some reservations about a few things. First, the cutie mark and the occupation are total no-gos for the RP. You can't have control over time as part of the Mane RP, because, well, it falls under the guidelines of "No Godmoding" in the rules. To have control over the entire flow of time means that, ostensibly, Sandstream has more power than Luna and Celestia combined, and writing notes about everything means that she's obviously an expy for God. That just won't go for the RP. The personality has a chance to be interesting, but something bugs me a little about it...what do you mean that she "react in a good way or evil way"? Typically characters will react differently to different situations depending on the characters (being mean to one, nice to another, etc), but the way this is worded is...strong, in my opinion. I think it could use a little fleshing out as to what you mean by good and evil. Also, her parents seem odd as well. A pony named Shadow that, from what I gather, can become invisible in some way, and Winterleafs, who seems to be a kind of mystic oracle. They could use a little more description to flesh out who they are...for most ponies it's not a problem as their parents are just your everypony, but for Sandstream, her parents are a little more special than the average pony's, and needs more description. In addition, I'm curious as to her background...while I'm a fan of only small blocks of information, not giving away too much in the summary (that way there's a chance to expand on my character in RPs), Sandstream's is a bit too limited. For example, why was she born in the desert? Why does her mother live in the snowy peaks of a mountain when Sandstream was born in the desert? Why does she roam the forests of Equestria instead of keeping to Appleloosa, or staying in Painted Pinto? Stuff like that to flesh her out as a character. I can kinda see what you're trying to do with Sandstream. However, as part of the Mane RP, even Doctor Whooves has no power over time. He too is just an everypony, a clockmaker as it were. While Sandstream can still be used as a character, she needs editing to be allowed. Namely, she needs to have a less grandiose occupation, no God-like powers/abilities, an expanded summary, and perhaps her parents may need to be changed as well if I'm reading into their characters properly.
  17. Dapper Dan smiled. He wasn't exactly the welcome wagon for town, least not officially. But he was so new to the town himself, and had felt so welcome when he first arrived, that he wanted to help other newcomers to Appleloosa feel the same way. He adjusted his glasses with a bit of magic while she spoke, chuckling. "Yeah, I know that feeling. I saw the advertisements around, but I'm a city-pony. I have no idea what a hoedown is, so I'm a little lost, ha." he said, smiling. "Braeburn? Yeah, he's here. There's not a thing that goes on in this town that pony misses. If the hoedown is big enough to bring pretty much the entire town out, I'll guarantee he's around." Dan said. "I'd bet my horn on it." Sure enough, before he'd even finished saying "Horn", he'd heard the familiar voice and the town's name. He'd never really met Braeburn personally, but he'd heard his voice enough times before to recognize it. "If he's not here now, he soon will be. Want to find him, or wait until he gets to the party?" Dan asked.
  18. Zecora is a mystic zebra who was ostracized from Ponyville for being different, hence why she lives in the Everfree. Even after she was accepted, it's clear that Zecora enjoys her privacy as she still lives there. At least, that's my interpretation. Take it with a small grain of salt. As per our canon description of the Everfree, it is, and I quote, "largely empty of ponyfolk", and "largely unexplored". I'm not saying you can't have a character from the Everfree, I'm just saying that it would probably require an explanation to pass modstaff inspection: what are his parents doing there, if they lived there why not nearby Cloudsdale, Ponyville, or even further away in Manehattan? Were the too ostracized from the village? If so, why? What could be so bad as for Thunder's family to live in the Everfree, known as a dangerous place to most ponies? Did they not know? And while they were there, how did they get by? Once he escaped, how did Thunder know how to get to Ponyville? I'm not saying you have a bad character, in fact, you have the makings of a very unique, and very interesting character. Just needs a bit of work, that's all. Also, I tried to be as pleasant as possible in my criticism, and don't really appreciate the patronizing tone I got from your reply. I'm trying to lend a helping hoof here to help you on your way to RPing with a great character.
  19. Not a bad start. His summary needs a bit of work though, but never fear! First off, according to canon, nopony lives in the Everfree Forest. Dashing Thunder might have been born there, but I can't see his family living there. However, perhaps you can provide a background to why Thunder's family was there? Also, you have a redundant sentence: he's looking for his parents and his destiny while living in Ponyville and hoping to find that. A better formed sentence would be "Dashing Thunder lives in Ponyville, still hoping to one day find his parents, and his destiny." In addition, how'd he get his cutie mark? As the biggest thing for a pony, it should be touched on. What does the cutie mark mean, how did he get it, etc? And finally, for the moment, Ponyville is off limits to new OCs, due to (I'll assume) overcrowding. I think Cloudsdale is still good if you want to live there. Good luck on the app ^^
  20. Smart idea, actually. I'll think on it.
  21. Not too bad. Even for me, who has a dislike of death as a driving force in character backgrounds, I think this is a good character. Pretty good for a first run Though modstaff might have something to pick up on, I think it's fine.
  22. Dear Team Faust: I'm sending you the bill for the supply of insulin I'm going to need after the diabetes I got from HOW FREAKIN' CUTE PARTS OF THIS EPISODE WERE
