  1. "-Patience is a virtue" "-It's not a matter of when, but rather the reward that follows for not asking" "-If one is impatient, they may, themselves, affect the outcome of the result" You can't rush things, or you will end up being disappointed. I live by these quotes here, and I think other should too. Is one week too long? How about the occasional two week wait? If they aired new episodes every day, then the seasons would be cut down to 1/7th the original length. For each day you "would like" them to air a new episode, subtract one from 7/7. That's the new length of the seasons. Who would want season 3 to end in a month, instead of 3, by airing 3 episodes a week? Not me. You see, I don't know about you guys, but I enjoy the wait. I've got new episodes of other shows to watch during the week, so I'm not ENTIRELY bored. Having a new episode to watch to "kick off" my weekend is always nice. And I'd hate for them to air more new episodes a week, because that cuts the length of the season, and I don't want short seasons. (What if 13 episodes of S3 is the final season for this show? It would be over, and that would be it. )
  2. My friend bought the episode a few days ago, and he said it was still there. I haven't watched it myself, but I'll take his word for it. *Cough* It's Blu-ray, There is no other way to spell it whilst still being correct. You must be someone who shuns new technology, aren't you? It almost seems like you're trying to deny it. A DVD's Movie resolution only goes as high as 700x480, which, obviously is NOT an HD resolution. In fact, that's not even 16:9. Which is why DVDs will look stretched on your TV, if you have one that is widescreen. Like starswirl said, this is called progress. You need to accept that technology is improving. Until you "SEE" a Blu-ray movie playing, you need to keep your mouth shut. Blu-ray movies aren't just "The New Transformers" movie, either. There's almost ALL of the Disney movies, too. And almost every movie released to DVD after 2006 is on a Blu-ray now. Blu-ray is for the best image quality possible for those that own an HD TV and do not want to deal with the poor quality of DVDs. I'm sorry if you just cannot accept this.
  3. I get your idea here, and while we're on the topic, I'd like to state something. It would be a LOT cheaper to download a Sega Genesis Emulator, and buy the USB Genesis controller (>$20). Why, do you ask? Because hacking a "Genesis" cartridge would take many years to pursue, and it would be very difficult to do it. Not to mention that Genesis games are hard to come by nowadays. Whereas you could get an N64 game for $5 someplace. Pus, if someone wanted to "make" this game, they could do it a LOT faster if they had to just make it in a program on the PC, and convert the files to "ROM" files that the emulator could open. It would save you over 4 months of hassle.
  4. I make characters based on my emotions. (/insert black hair, painted nails, and odd tinted American flag waving in the background) I've only got one RP character here, but that one is my most complex RP character to date. (Not just ponies, any..) and I hope you all see what I mean as I progress through my RP'ing. The story with nimbus is that my friend is spoiled, and his parents had bought him anything he wanted. However, it was due to him that they divorced "as far as I know" and for a long time he was mad at the world. The "personality" spiraled off into the character I have now. A bit of Nimbus' personality comes from Rarity, too. (Influence in creation, I mean.) Edit: Look at Clock's, Ashton's, and then my original post time. O.O 12:34, 12:43, and then 3:34. 34...43....34.....43....34....43.....34....43....34....43.....34....43...
  5. I'd hate to come off as offensive, but you're entirely wrong here. If you're not a "genius" in tech, I understand, but don't assume when you do not know. HD resolution is in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Whereas older content is filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio. However, because the content would be "stretched" when put on TV, they leave it with the black bars on each side of the screen. This allows the content to be played at it's normal aspect ratio, thus keeping the image quality. Most TVs nowadays even have a "stretch" option built in, incase you DO want your 4:3 content stretched to 16:9. Older TV shows in 4:3 can actually look better when broadcasted over a HD signal. This is because the content can be sharpened, color corrected, and cleaned up very easily. Some of it even being done by your television. Also- "HD" is by NO MEANS whatsoever a gimmick. The only "gimmick" to it is the HD sunglasses they sell. (Actual sunglasses supposed to make your vision HD) "HD" stands for High Definition, which is EXACTLY what it is. HD is not something that Hollywood uses to release Blu-ray "that likes to phone home and needs firmware updates all the time", it is the quality of the image in which you are displayed on your screen. If your PC monitor is running at a pixel ratio HIGHER than 1280x720, then does that mean your monitor is a "gimmick"? No. "HD" is also not a way for people to sell Blu-ray movies easier .In fact, Blu-ray movies look absolutely stunning if on the right setup. It will literally blow your mind how good it looks.
  6. You're not strange, actually. You're not "supposed" to tell the difference between 720p and 1080i. Or else their "lack of quality" for TV providers would turn away subscribers. Also, the reason there is a difference in audio quality, is because the signal's audio quality is changed between 720p and 1080p, to save "Bandwidth" for TV providers. 720p is at 192kbps, whereas 1080p is 320kbps. Just about the best audio you can get. Also, 720p's 5.1 / 7.1 surround doesn't sound as good as 1080p's, of course.
  7. The show is actually animated at a resolution slighter higher than 1920x1080. It's not an "actual" resolution you would find in any monitor's settings. It's something along the lines of 1963x1156. The reasoning for this, is so that when transferred to television, minimal image quality is lost (if any) when The hub airs the episodes. This resolution helps 1080i keep it's quality, as well as perfect quality for 720p, and 1080p alike. Also note that not many (if any) TV providers provide 1080p channels. Usually it is 720,or 1080i. Of course, The hub only airs in 1080i, so it isn't actually 1080p. Which is why the iTunes episodes look better. However, the actual image quality loss when in 1080i is VERY MINIMAL for animation. As it only affects things like fast-paced sports. It would take a highly trained eye to tell the difference between 1080i, and 1080p for an animated show like this.
  8. Not often do I see a topic that requires my technical knowledge. I like it! The "higher" the quality, the better. This is a rule, not an opinion. The only time this varies is if it's supposed to "reference" to olden times. (Like intentionally lowering sound quality in 8-bit music) The Color correction is applied in the iTunes episodes, but there's really no "certain" way to view it. If you don't own the episodes via iTunes, but got them via other means, you can manually "Correct" the color using your Computer's video card. I can use Catalyst Control Center (My video card control station) to manually change the color, saturation, hues, brightness, contrast, etc, and apply it to video not only on my PC, but on the internet. The only upside to the iTunes is that there are no watermarks. (The hub logo, and such) "720p" resolution is 1280x720, and is considered an HD resolution. However, you need to remember that higher resolution is ALWAYS better. My native resolution on my Monitor is 1920x1080, which is 1080p. I have all of the episodes downloaded in 1080p, and they look fantastic. Why, may you ask? Because. When a video's resolution is the same, or closer to your native resolution, less "stretching" is applied when you full screen it. Less stretching = less blurry pixels, better color, and a better video experience. There is no "overkill" to this show. The only way you could do that, is if you stretch it PAST the resolution it was animated in. (Say it was animated in 1920x1080, but you stretch it to 2560x1600) otherwise, the better resolution, the better quality. Oh, and by the way. The quality difference between 720p and 1080p is VERY VERY noticeable,. BUT only if your monitor is running at a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher. Otherwise, all of your "1080p" episodes are resized down to your native resolution. Which, granted, would still look better than 720p. I can get you some photos soon, too, if you'd like. A comparison, if you will. Hope this is helpful~
  9. I think an episode centered around the Wonderbolts, and not one of the min particular would be cool. Of course, it would have to be tied into Rainbow Dash somehow. So a Wonderbolts / Rainbow Dash episode in s3 would be great! Come up with plot ideas. (Why can't I say that word with a straight face..)
  10. Although I' "like" to see more "One-shot" characters reappear, I feel that we should "leave" Hasbro and Studio B to do what they do best. The whole "Derpy" outcry in the fandom is still annoying me to this day. If we were to have Trixie return, it would be the SAME EXACT situation. Except for not "mental retardation", it would be something ELSE that is completely ridiculous. Just the Derpy appearances in the background is enough. Maybe they've got episodes PLANNED that have the characters you'd like to see? Now don't get me wrong here, I'd like to see some characters make more appearances. But just, remember this from now on guys.. Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it.
  11. Have any of you ever gotten the fear that what if 4chan never picked up FiM? And the term "brony" in essence, was never made? Therefor, the fandom wouldn't exist, and this place wouldn't. The internet would still be a dark, scary, nightmarish place. Bronies are our little firefly of hope on the internet. :'D Love you guys~
  12. Welcome, Rainb0w, to Canterlot.com! I hope you don't use this for self-advertising! Guys we call him Rainb0w, as we can't have two "Dashie"'s, k? k.
  13. Where to begin... Well, I was about 6 or 7 when I first started following Dragonball Z on Toonami. I suppose that could be my "first anime" since it's the only thing I can recall watching regularly, and was produced originally in Japan. However, I never really followed Naruto, Bleach, Sailor Moon, or any of those. I watched Zach Bell, and Pokemon, but not the new Pokemon. Most of my "primetime" for anime was when I was about 9-11. However, I watched a lot of anime movies, that iddn't follow a sieres (at least, to my knowledge) like Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and a lot of other Hiyo Miyazaki works. Just a few months ago, I watched all of Elfen Lied on Youtube in 720p. The Anime is great, and I recommend you all watch it. However, it's VERY GORY and a lto of naked scenes. I classified it as a hardore gore / softcore hentai, really. It's NOT all about breasts, but they don't 'censor" any scenes where one would be naked. (Coming out of a shower, as an example.) Also, if any of you don't speak Japanese...I RECOMMEND LEARNING IT! I had been learning Japenese over the Summer last year, and am still now. Watching animes without subtitles or (mostly) terrible English dubs REALLY gives a lot more immersion. Learning how to read and write Japanese now.
  14. Skye- by no means do I disagree with you, I can see where you're coming from. This is the internet, there is anonymity, and people tend to overuse that fact. This is quite obvious, and is portrayed 1000's of times every minute across the internet. However. While it may not "break any official rules" I'm curious why you aren't doing anything about the constant "/me does this" in the chat. I swear, multiple times, I've gotten on there, and thought I was in the RP room. What's up with that? It was constantly people like Cuddleshy, and QuickLime, and it got really old, really fast. Do you not CARE if they do this? Should they go to a different IRC, or what? At first ,a few remarks here and there were alright, and I admit, I did a few myself. But once the chat is flooded with constant text of "x sends a sharp glare toward y" it was hard to have a civil conversation. I may not be going TO the chat anymore, but I personally think you need to put your foot down, and deal with that. Limit users to their ability to use /me, or something. In fact, the amount of text being sent in that format often at times would get me "kicked" from the IRC, because my ping shot up too high to keep a stable connection. Yes, that /me stuff DOES take a toll on my internet if too much is used. If you see it's alright to keep doing that, so be it. Otherwise, a few members of the IRC are getting out of line..
  15. Having been banned for a bunch of nonsense, I have learned a few things from this chat. (By nonsense I mean it's none of your guys' business, the ban was necessary.) It may be a "Canterlot IRC" channel, but by no means is it HARDLY EVER on the topic of ponies. I don't make the rules for it, so I could instate that only pony topic be brought up. I just noticed it's hard to talk about anything FiM related in there. Usually, you'll find two or more of the members "exchanging roleplay remarks" to one-another. Such as "/me runs her fingers through x's hair" and such. Which, to me, got quite old, real fast. I don't want to see two people exchanging erotic remarks to one-another. Take it to the PMs, please. Although, it's not "against the rules" to do this per say, it is partially what caused me to have such a "bad attitude" while on the IRC most of the time. Thus, resulting in my ban. The first week of being banned from the IRC, I was missing the people in it. Now, I see no reason to return. Granted, the forum part of this site is great, the IRC has quickly gone down-hill. (In just the time I've been here..) And half of the people in the IRC are usually never very active on the board, either.. I admit, I was a bit "rude" on the chat, but there's multiple sides to that, which, to me, the moderators would rather not discuss. At first, this made me mad, but now, I'd rather NOT be able to go on the chat at all.
  16. My brother (Paradox) does animation in Flash. I've tried it, but I prefer making videos in Vegas Pro. Do you get paid for animating, or do you just animate for "someone" allowing you to "claim" you work as an animator? Do you do the drawings yourself, or work with premade drawing and edit from there? Sorry if this is a lot of questions or a bit personal, I'm just curious!
  17. It's server-sided. I've already tested on three connections. (My internet, phone 3G, and different provider phone 3G) On all of them, I get an error every so often. It's probably a coincidence, but it happens the most in the RP section. In Firefox I'm getting a "Connection was reset while loading" error every so often. So yeah, it's server sided ,and it's not just you.
  18. Welcome to Verizon Tech Support Canterlot.com! Enjoy your stay!
  19. Yeah, it is a very good thing. Last thing we need is an RP helpstaff overlooking something small like "x is a deranged cannibal who attempts to eat sleeping unicorns" or something. Because if you put that there, and your app was accepted, you'd assume it'd be alright for RP, despite the rules. Because "It was accepted." granted, this hasn't happened yet, to my knowledge, it's just a safety procedure. My application took roughly 18 days to go from [FINAL] to accepted and into the Roleplayers' group. So you shouldn't be complaining. Hope to see you RP'ing soon!
  20. I see a Diamond Dog riding Pinkie Pie whilst wearing a Spartan Suit from Halo. Am I remotely close? What is it?
  21. Nothing. Nothing is impossible. Don't disregard something as "not possible" because you don't know. This applies to everything.
  22. Let me bring this to your attention peeps. The Powerpuff Girls, following the same "target audience" and having a similar feel to FiM, has ALSO dealt with the idea of "death" No, I'm not talking about the "criminals" that get put in jail, either. I'm talking about a very particular scene that some of you MAY have forgotten or never even seen. In an episode, The Professor buys the girls toys from the toy store, and their greed gets the best of them. Eventually, they end up having The Professor buy them toys while sleep walking. Eventually, he finds out about what is going on, pretends to not notice, and goes to the toy store with them to buy them more stuff. (I believe I got this right, haven't seen it in years..) While "shopping", the FBI (Or was it Swat?) team shows up, and shoots The Professor. The gun shots look real, and the shots DO look painful. They "shot him" fr stealing the toys, because he would break into the store at night. After getting shot, the girls scream, and run over to his "dead body" crying. Their greed got the best of them, it took their "father's" life, and they feel terrible. Turns out that they were plastic darts that they shot at them, and it was all his plan to teach them a lesson. Now mind you, this is over a 3-4 minute scene, so for the most part, it felt really real. It didn't feel like "there would be a happy ending" either. The feeling and emotion was there, and quite frankly, if they weren't toy darts, it would not have aired. Tell me, how could this not be considered death. It made it into a "girls" cartoon that is less "girly" than this. If you need more examples, I have tons. Canon "death" is possible in this show. Be it a dream, or "fake" deaths. The concept can happen. Don't tell me it can't. Because the simple fact that it can. It might not, but that doesn't mean it can't.
  23. It's hard to explain MY reacitons, because they panned out over 4 months or so before "becoming a brony". So I'll tell you of my brother (Paradox)'s instead. Upon telling him that I'm going to give the show a chance, he legitimately asked me if I'm "gay." (No, just an FYI, I'm straight. No offense though.) Because, prior to watching the show, I saw some vectors, "Rocky My Pony" and dozens of videos involving ponies and TF2 (Which I was hooked on at the time) I set up the first 5, and he watched them with me. He wasn't very "open minded" when first watching them, but he wasn't too..."manly" (mainly because he's 14...) His (and PARTIALLY my) reaction throughout the first two episodes were mainly "Pfft, am I REALLY watching this?" and "heh, that was funny for a little girls' show." and the like.. By the 4th episode, we were both literally questioning each other "Do we REALLY like this show?" and asking back and forth. "No, really, DO you?" and such. We ended up going to bed at 2:14 AM, with a good 3 hours of ponies in our system. Was a great night, and here I am. A full fledged brony. (My brother is a brony too, and he's actually going to be animating some FiM stuff soon. He's not new to animating though)
  24. I'm surprised none of you have brought of G1 yet. My theory is that the mane six, from their hooves to the top of their head, would be roughly 4-4.5ft tall. That's to the top of their mane, I mean. It really changes, and I can see Big Mac being bigger than Luna, but Celestia being bigger than Big Mac, where Celestia can be seen about the same height in some shots. (Not the two in a single shot, though.) For Ponies like Big mac, I believe from his hooves to the top of his head, he is about 5ft tall, maybe 5'5ft. Just my input though.
