He never would have survived if a group of Diamond Dogs hadn't have found him in his cave during a search for more gems. They decided to take young Spark with them and raise him as their own. When Spark reached an age where he was able to take care of himself, although still rather young, he began venturing around the area he was in. That was when he ran into Neon, a bright green colt wondering around the forest outside his home. Spark, figuring it would be funny to scare the colt, decided to hide behind a tree and to shoot mini fireballs in his direction, not aiming at the colt on purpose. The colt ran fell down and feigned pain, pretending he was hit. Fearing that he might of hurt the small pegasus by one of his electric fireballs, he ran over to him to check if he was okay. Which Neon then proceeded to tackle Spark. After a long stare-down and a good laugh at Neon's pay-back to Spark's prank, the two discovered that they shared a love for trouble making, and a strong friendship was formed between the two almost immediately.
