  1. I don't think that I've subscribed but when they had the article in Equestria Daily about the Derpy cover I managed to buy all 8 covers from that one store, so I think they do allow you to buy the subscription variant without actually subscribing
  2. Oh, you don't have to be so pessimistic, if that is the case there's the distinct chance that everyone working on it noticed it too and are going to do what they can to prevent that happening Besides, The Powerpuff Girls went on for a couple of years after their movie and the main reason for why it ended was because they always planned for it to have no more than 6 seasons (true I was somewhat disappointed with the movie when I saw it and didn't watch it for ages afterward, but that was mainly because I had expected it to be a more current story and that their origin would be in a regular episode and back then I still had trouble dealing with things that didn't meet my expectations) There's one family anime series that I enjoy that lasted for 7 seasons (over 350 episodes) despite 5 of those seasons being followed by a movie (granted they had a more theatric feel for the movies and they were generally handled the same way as the season finales, true some of the fans here were annoyed with the series during the second to last season, but the ones in Japan didn't mind it, and a good part of it was resentment that a number of the manga chapters had not been adapted and some of the fan favourite minor characters had gone for a long time without appearing) Hamtaro ran for 4 seasons (over 200 episodes) and each season was accompanied by a movie, like the other family anime I mentioned it had a "Slice of life adventures" feel for most episodes with something big for the season finales and the movies For the first generation of My Little Pony they actually had the movie come before the series and it had over 60 episodes which was generally unheard of for girl's shows at the time And really they've managed to do a lot of things that few other series have managed to pull off, they've managed to stay in touch with their fan base without alienating the original audience, they've made a likable Pretty Girl character despite the Pretty Girl trope being somewhat blacklisted and often being used for either the antagonist or the dumb one, they even managed to make an episode about descrimination despite the fact that it's a topic nobody wants to handle anymore without anyone flagging it for touching on the subject, I think they can manage to do one 66 minute movie without jumping the shark In short have a bit more faith in the series staff, stop worrying that they're going to screw up and just enjoy what they do right and worry about the mistakes when they actually happen
  3. Fun, but there was one tiny mistake in quiz question 8, her name is Private Pansy But apart from that this is really neat, I have an idea for the next time you do something like this, you could have a sort of bingo game
  4. Could you scan it so it's smooth and even?, I'd like to try vectoring it for everypony
  5. I think so too, also that horns do grow back without it taking forever (maybe half the rate of finger nails) But I also think that there were three sisters, the third being in charge of the equivalent to the planet Venus and that she was the Princess from that Hearts and Hooves day story and that she and her husband live on the planet she moves and that Cadence is their daughter (Alicorn appearence like her Mother but mortal like her Father) and perhaps that at some point the three of them were the Windigos who had been temporarily altered and were changed back by the famed demonstration of friendship from the Hearth's warming eve (which would explain why they can move the sun and moon but unicorns once had to) And speaking of Hearth's warming eve, when Princess Platinum sits on Clover the Clever she rides side saddle Also you can work out the birthdays of a few characters
  6. I'm not, I do reconise that there are people who are better than I am and I don't show off but I do have confidence in my work and realise that I've come a long way from that little Filly who hated drawing because she didn't like the way her pictures turned out and secretly, I love it when people praise me; of course, I still have a lot of room to improve but I've put effort into learning how to do things, which has been made even more difficult since conventional advice generally doesn't work for me (breaking faces into shapes didn't help me draw them, drawing them in the best way that I could until I could manage a better way did). It's great to strive to improve yourself, but don't forget to celebrate what you've done so far (trust me, it's nice to have somebody tell you you're wonderful and to just believe it instead of thinking that they're wrong) When I buy Pony merchandise not only do I make no effort to hide it but I openly broadcast to everyone I possibly can that I am there to buy toys for my collection because there's something about the store staff thinking that I have a relative within the traditional Pony Demographic bothers me One fan theory that really bothers me is the Applebloom/Sweetie Belle is really Applejack/Rarity's daughter theory and more or less anything along these lines (there's one story, "Twilight's Family" that I was turned off of after the 5th chapter when it turns out that the young family member Twilight had been trying to avoid telling her friends about is her daughter fathered by her fiance), perhaps it's because my Mother works with troubled youths and so many of them have become parents at obscenely young ages that I find the idea of bringing things from their situations into cute escapism shows really distasteful ....And I took a bite out of the cake (Hee-Hee, I'm sorry, I just had to do that joke, nopony else did)
  7. Aww! Welcome to Canterlot (^.^) (Hug for you)
  8. Haven't most of them had one? At least Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash have had one already
  9. I also have to make my own bread, though in my case it's because I can't have wheat and the few store bought rice breads I know of are awful But I always have toasted ham and cheese sandwiches, and yes it has to be toasted, rice bread can get really dry after it's been cut so it has to be stored frozen, though if you time it properly you can get the bread to be like it's fresh instead of actually toasted, the cheese that I use cuts into small pieces and always goes directly on the bottom slice and the ham has to have the edging removed Also if you like salty and sweet and have somewhat lax standards once sugar is involved you can add vanilla cake frosting after you take it out of the sandwich press (this probably falls under aquired tastes)
  10. Hmm, I would have switched Applejack and Cheerilee.... But mine is Fluttershy (^u^) Actually it's rather fitting that Fluttershy would be a Cancer in a way that nopony ever thinks of, I read in a book called "The Dark Side of the Zodiac" (basically it covers the not so wonderful traits that each sign has which other astrology books tend to ignore) that when angered Cancers can "....Go from zero to psycho in a matter of seconds" Also Pinkie actually IS a Gemini (her birthday is in spring and it's the only spring sign that fits) so is Spike (His birthday is in the later part of mid june, I worked it out from a few episodes)
  11. Could their horns even do any real damage? They look slightly rounded at the end But I've noticed something: In "The Best Night Ever" Rarity was hit by a giant cake In "Canterlot Wedding" Queen Chrysalis and her Changeling army were sent flying away by an aurora created by Cadance and Shining's love And what do changelings live off of? In short, both season endings have included a Pony being hit by what is, for them, a giant food item
  12. Well, if we are also covering things that don't make sense....Pony Ya.O.I.; true I don't have the same view on Pony Yuri, but that is because there are so few males to begin with that it seems likely that there would be something that ensures the few that do exist are willing to procreate. Though I do tend to be on the fence in terms of most two-mare pairings after reading "A Pony and A Portal" I realised that their existence as a whole does make some amount of sense; as I said before, even though this is probably the most balanced generation in terms of gender ratio, there aren't many stallions in Equestria so it is an obvious solution, at least it's better than thinking of most of the population being alone. Hmm, I doubt they would have marrying a stallion for money or status, all things considered. And even though a lot of people assume this, not everyone who wants to get married wants to have children, some just want to have the companionship (actually now that I think about it, I've read a few Pony yuri stories and for some reason they often think their relationship will be frowned upon which I find a bit strange) In general I can't see Twilight Sparkle and Princess Celestia as a couple but even less so when Celestia is the one that starts everything off Big Macintosh with any of the Mane 6....well Applejack it's rather obvious why not. And yes that includes Fluttershy, or at least none of them could work at the moment because we've only seen him interact with any of them apart from Applejack trice: once when Twilight asked him to retrieve Smarty Pants, Once when Rainbow Dash helped him with the cider press (though I'm not sure that would count as an interaction), and once when Pinkie had him move the M.M.M.M. (though again, I'm not sure if that would count as an interaction). I know some people are adamant that Fluttershy and Big Macintosh are perfect for each other and some say that they aren't a good match because they are too similar; personally I think that it's too early to say and that pairing characters that have a noteworthy amount of screen time is much more difficult than pairing characters that only show up in the background since in the former case you have to take their interactions into account and what sort of chemistry they have and could have while with back ground characters it's similar to taking a video of a crowd and trying to work out who knows who and what their relationships are. Shining Armor paired with anyone but Cadance, really after all they went through during the Wedding it would be sad if it fell apart I don't really agree with the opposites attract and you can't pair characters that are too similar to each other theory; sometimes having the person you marry compliment your personality is better than having them contrast it. There are a few opposite pairings that I like but for me it's something that's difficult to have work since there's a cut off point where it stops being a matter of being different enough that you bring different perspectives to your interactions and starts being that you are so different you don't have very much in common at all or your values are so different that you are always shocked by the other person's opinions I also admit that I'm not really sure about the way that some fans handle Spike and Rarity, I know a lot of people like that it's actually in the show and really was the first ever pairing of the series and there have been a few works of them that I've enjoyed, but I generally can't see them going as far as some people depict them. I'm not really sure why, it isn't a matter of age (even though I've objected to smaller age differences in the past) or species difference, my personal theory is that if left to develop naturally (without hoarding) that Spike's species of Dragon has a similar size and life span to a Pony, I just can't see them going beyond having a trial date or two and deciding that they are better as friends. I definately can't see them married with children as a number of people have depicted them (actually in terms of future character children I always imagine Rarity's as being created through something like the magic mirror from G1 and that given how she doesn't seem to be very good with children she wouldn't be the primary caregiver). Perhaps I'm just biased because of years of reading and watching Shoujo series; it seems to be the unwritten rule of shoujo that if you have a child or teenaged character fall in love with somebody several years older it doesn't work out, especially when one of the two is a main character (the best such pairings can hope for is situations like Rika and her teacher in Cardcaptor Sakura where you never find out how it ends). In terms of pairing Rarity, for me it depends on wheither you pair her with a male or female character: if it's with a Female character then Applejack, if it's a male character then Fancy Pants
  13. I've been collecting the promotional My Little Pony cards and was wondering if anyone with experience buying this sort of thing thinks that there will be a point in the near future where there will be another surge in the cards being put up on ebay or if there's perhaps another place that I could search for them, the only thing I can really think of is that perhaps a lot of people will sell some around Christmas Specifically I want to find the card for Rainbow Dash since that's the only promotional card that doesn't have any listings and the last one was so expensive
  14. Motion Paradox picked up the provided sling shot, this was her one shot, she had been so disappointed to find out that she would probably miss all the other events (even if she knew that she was not the most athletic, a number of the other competitors didn't let that stop them) so it had been a happy surprise to find out that this even was still open, and on top of that she could even use her magic! Most of the other events didn't allow it at all, which made sense given it was an athletics competition, but she knew her ability to manipulate her hooves paled in comparison to her fine magic skills, after all she used it all the time. She didn't even open her own bedroom door without it! She then levitated her a smaller bag out of her saddle bags, she had chosen to bring her own ammunition: Marbles that were smaller than the ones provided, her hope was that they would had the consistant shape of the provided marbles, but their smaller size would give them the greater range that the stones did. After loading her first shot she used her magic to lift a program to shield her eyes from any bright light and took aim and a deep breath "Alright then Motion Paradox, you can do this. You have good magic control, you have good eye sight and hopefully you're still far sighted like when you were a little Filly". She fired three shots into the closest tier, as she heard her projectiles land, hopefully in the various targets she felt a bit more confident in her aim. She fired her next four shots into the second tier, again she heard her shots land and decided to send the remaining shots into the third tier as she heard them land "Nee-hee" she squealed as she finally allowed herself to view her work. She could see where her shots had impacted with the assorted produce, containers and cut outs and hopefully, with the all important cupcake.(12, 21, 30, 44, 46, 52, 60, 72, 80, 82)
  15. Oh Drat! I'm going to miss it! Are we having another next year? My application wasn't accepted in time
  16. Ah, I see. No problem then, it's all fixed! Thank you again, everyone for all of your help, I hope my application is approved before the event ends (^u^)
  17. There! I think that's it, thank you for your help (^u^)
  18. I was wondering if the steps after you've finished creating a character and are waiting for approval can only happen on certain days I tried to create a roleplay character a little while ago but didn't realise that I had to list her as completed and since I didn't come on here for a while, I only found out when I tried to post in the Iron Pony competition. Fortunately my post was recovered and moved back so I was able to mark it correctly but now nothing has happened. I know that applications need two stamps to be approved but I haven't seen any stamps at all or a post telling me what I need to change to be accepted (I'm sorry if I seem too anxious, it's just that I'm a bit worried that I won't be approved until after the event has ended) So my question is if the various steps are scheduled so each one can only happen on certain days, I noticed that applicatiions seem to be accepted several at a time instead of as their ready so.... Thank You
  19. Oh well that's wonderful! Tell her that we all send her a group hug (because who wouldn't want an entire forum sending them a group hug?)
  20. Alright, I think she's all set, if somebody could tell me if she can be added or not that would be wonderful
  21. I know a game is a really big thing to put out a prompt/request for but if anyone likes the idea and could make it that would be wonderful Basically a short simple game (perhaps side scrolling) based on Mmmystery on the Friendship Express where you play as Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Rarity and you have to sneak into the dessert car to get your bite of the cake and hurry away without Pinkie catching you. Each Pony would have their own level and maybe their own strengths weakness if you want to really go all out (for example Rainbow could have higher speed but lower stealth, Fluttershy would be the opposite and Rarity would be in the middle). I don't even know where to begin making the game itself but if you need somebody to draw success and failure screens I'd be happy to help in anyway I can So thank you to anyone who says yes
  22. Ah, the (in?) famous "Mysterious Mare Do Not Quite As Well As We Would Have Hoped" Personally I didn't really mind the episode at all, it wasn't my favourite, but I didn't find it horrible either. First of all I found that the episode gave Rainbow Dash a lot of charm; yes I know "But she was so egotistical", I actually find that charming if they handle it in the right way and for me, they did. Yes I liked her well enough before, but for me she didn't have her own....special charm, true she was likable and well written but didn't really have a trait or situation that I could either identify with deeply or that matches with a troupe that I find cute and one troupe that I find adorable in a series character is compensating for an emotional shortfall. In other words her usual over confidence was just funny before (such as in Boast Busters when she basically comments that showing off is her job), but after Mare Do Well it could now also be cute; basically with characters showing off is entertaining but showing off because you have a fragile ego wins you all sorts of sympathy points. Strangely, Sonic Rainboom didn't have the same effect for me but I suppose it makes sense, her break down in that episode felt more like nervousness over competing than a part of a larger pattern Second I saw the others' behaviour as being good intentions not knowing the harm the actual actions cause. One of the easiest mistakes to make while watching a show is to forget that the characters don't always know everything the audience does and, if you look closely, you'll see that the other girls never saw Rainbow Dash's breakdown. If you think of it this way, it does effect the tone their actions take, the way I interpret the situation is that the plan was to perform a number of rescues Rainbow Dash would normally have handled so she would realise that she was not the only hero, basically they intended to humble her. This route probably seemed like a good idea at the time, they each had something that they could contribute to create a perfect hero, Rainbow Dash would learn her lesson after a while, Mare Do Well would retire and Rainbow could go back to being the hero, but now she would know no to get carried away. Unfortunately Rainbow is not the type that likes to appear vulnerable; if the others had seen how upset she was they probably would have admitted that they were behind Mare Do Well and apologised and Rainbow Dash would have forgiven them and admitted that she shouldn't have let everyone's praise effect her as much as it did. However the others only saw Rainbow being jealous that Mare Do Well was stealing her thunder which generally doesn't win you very much empathy, it wasn't her fault for not showing enough of the right emotion, it was just one of those times where a lack of communication leads to somepony stepping on another's feeling without realising. I've been on both ends of a case where one person accidentally upsets another and have seen it happen between other people, that's probably the biggest problem when somebody accidentally steps on your feelings, they won't know what they've stepped on until you point it out and trying to act as if everything is fine an make the problem worse; if you come out and say what is really bothering you, odds are people sympathise with you more than if you try to act as if everything is fine or focus on lesser issues
  23. Oh come on! It's a cute song (^.^) Besides, if you really want something strange from G1 read the story about the time she saved a group of mine-slave Ponies, killed an evil Wizard, restored the vision of said mine-slave Ponies by....um....giving them "Permanent Contact Lenses" and dirtied some pixies' laundry http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php?topic=296360.0
  24. Iron Pony Competition Against Princess Cadence Well that would be....interesting
