Personality:

When met at first Canvas is quiet and kept to herself, almost comes across as mute. She tries her best to avoid conversation with ponies. that she feels, would not understand her art. She always resolves social-trouble with silence and shutting herself off to those pestering her. She knows how to hide her emotions well, when it comes to sadness or happiness, when it comes to anger she has a short fuse. When she is drawing and sketching she comes across more friendly to confront/talk to. Canvas has trust issues and a big personal bubble to strangers. Canvas is friendly if you bother to go past her mute barrier and shyness. What lets her open up to people is when someone sparks one of her vast 'artistic' interests or seems to have trouble in a subject she is very good at explaining. When the topic is of fine-art however, she will break out of her quite-shell and be more assertive and much almost egotistic in knowing so much about the arts. Canvas, when not trying to avoid the rest of the world, would openly help any pony with a problem, that is if she can help, depending on the task. Having lack of meeting ponies with a similar skill/occupation leads her to be even more cocky in her skill, once brought out of her shyness and quite state with somepony. This usual leads most ponies to think of her as a 'know-it-all' or think she's some kind of professor in Arts.

What draws her out of her retreat from everything, is usually spotting anything from a famous/not so famous artist's piece of work, a pony that seems to be in need of another pony (If she has the acknowledgment of the moment from not having her snout in a sketch book) she would try to help them. If a pony happened to have some 'fancy-new-artist-brush' or some form of creative device she knows very well about, she would not feel hassled to give you a sudden speech about the object or inform you about it's origin and possibly what artist used it the most. Her interest levels fluctuate depending on given situation or time she sees such contraptions or depends what pony is wielding it. After a sudden talkative out burst she'd try to crawl back to being an introvert when she has felt the interest level die down or it seems the pony welding it is not giving a response of interest back.

She sees everything in a logical aspect, for she only wants things solved in a reasonable way when its something she isn't use to solving. As an artist she tries to think outside the box, at these moments she is genuinely happy and not so put down by her pegasi atmosphere. Which in these instances seem like once in every Solstice...

History:

Canvas was raised by parents that were once top racers of Cloudsdale, and well known throughout Canterlot City, for they would do stunt shows there. In their prime, they were renouned as influential heroes. But, as time passed, the younger super-stars of Cloudsdale took their place and the duo had to settle down. When they settled with having a filly and Canvas was born, the Whiz family took a strong notion in raising her to become 'another top flyer'. Putting pressure on to the young filly has caused the opposite effect than they had originally attended; Canvas turned away from her parents pushy communication of parenting. Canvas did not enjoy flying as much as they would have expected her to, there was nothing in the sky that would make her happy. She felt almost hopeless to find anything remotely interesting to her. As her parents were out of luck coming up with anything to keep her motivated flying around as a hobby. The filly lost hope in herself in pleasing her parents in becoming a top notch flyer of Cloudsdale.

As going to school in Cloudsdale she found most of her pass time doing crafts, even if the class wasn't particularly doing art. Canvas felt an outlet to her loneliness and pressure from her parents. Doing art and sketching seemed to put a smile on her face, something that most ponies and other things could not do. A craft teacher gave Canvas her first ever sketch book. After a while she slowly grew herself away from Cloudsdale, all the rest of the fillies and colts that resided there, feeling that everyone there was all about 'flying'. When she obtained her cutie mark from a school Art contest, she knew her destiny was to become a freelance artist. This epiphany caused her to dive even more deep into her art studies expanding her artistic skill. Soon enough the little foal was reading up on books of Art History', 'Master Artists of Equestria', and books that had other artistic information.

Years went by and her dislike to Cloudsdale grew as Wonder Bolts, and flying competitions became more and more of a thing. The competitive atmosphere of the city made her annoyed. This caused her to take time away from the city and rest on clouds as she sketches the Earth ponies and Unicorns below. Canvas envied the life of ground ponies, and how it seemed they never got such high expectations as Pegasi.

When Canvas was a filly her parents had pushed her to become a top flyer like both of them. But, Canvas didn't really like the adrenaline of flight, but rather doodle in her sketch book when ever she could. Since her sketch book was her only outlet, being a lonely filly, she one day signed up for the Art contest, searching for her own competitive spirit knowing that art is something she wouldn't mind being competitive in. Winning 2nd place she realized even more that she didn't need the competitive approval. She went further into her own route, knowing how much she loved the critique and approval of ponies that saw her master piece. It made her feel genuinely special in something. Which meant she had to work her ever hardest to be number one in her desired profession!

Canvas lives with her family just because she does not make a fair enough sum to live on her own. Being an artist in Cloudsdale seems to not be the most favorable job in Equestria. For CloudsDale sports and athletics is the number one seller/hype. This has also caused resent towards her life as a Pegasi-pony in CloudsDale. She has tried many times to apply for being an art teacher, but, it seemed not many schools in the city were interested in an art teacher. Or most already had one. It depresses her being in the city of 'cocky-ville' (So she'd nickname). Her family supports her goal fully, knowing and now finally understanding her purpose. Although they do tend to still present the idea of at least 'trying out' a race or so. Which of course would be turned down, for she could never see herself in anything 'competitive' other than art.

Her dislike towards most Pegasuses has made her a hermit when it came to interacting with others. This was a flaw that her family would mostly bring up, even though addressing the issue has never really helped her from her anti-social behavior. Being, what she claims herself, an outcast she feels friendship isn't one of those things that could 'reach her goal'.

She now sits and dreams for the day she could show off her skills to land ponies, an audience she feels and assumes would appreciate art more-so than her own kind.

Awesome application :) We need ore art ponies that don't specialize in music anyway. :P Though, it looks good, some small problems need to be fixed but they are quick and easy.

1) The "Age" section doesn't use numbers, instead use words. Like Foal for a baby, filly for a female teenager, but since yours is a young adult, I'd say you should put her as a young mare.

2) Cloudsdale is spelled with no capitol "d", it's not something you really NEED to fix, just something you can if you want to spell it correctly.

3) The little not at the bottom, can be taken out and just added in with Physique.

A very nice piece, indeed. I have a couple ideas which might help it just a little bit, though not entirely necessary.

1: What did Canvas realize about herself when she won that second-place prize? What element of her personality did that highlight, that gave her a moment of understanding which caused her cutie mark to come into being?

2: You talk a lot about how your character tends to retreat, retreat, retreat ... unless someone draws her out. What about her personality actually drives her to join RPs? What will *she* do, actively, to become engaged in a situation? What hooks will draw her out of that retreat?

For instance, Fluttershy is the same kind of outcast from Cloudsdale's extremely extroverted and competitive culture. She also retreats significantly. However, she will actively engage herself in a situation if it involves cuteness or someone in trouble, someone who's hurt and needs tending. These are her 'hooks'.

I have edited it! If it doesn't quite make sense please tell me. @_@

The hooks are great, and that's just what was needed. :) good job!

The cutie Mark story still seems to be about her special talent - not about who she is. However, the character is certainly good enough that I will be posting it to the head RP staff for approval. If you want to consider more on her Cutie Mark story, I have included a little bit of food for thought in the spoiler below.

She got her cutie mark for winning second place in an art competition. Does this mean she finally understood the competitive spirit that the other pegasus ponies had, and found her own way to take part in it - as a freelance artist, where competition is at its most fierce? Did it mean that when she didn't get first, she realized she was still searching for that competitive approval - and finally gave up the need to compete, going her own route? Was it just a realization of how much she loved sharing her art, and having people look at it critically?

Awesome app here! You may still edit your cutie mark story, following Bramble's notes, if you wish to do so, but I'm giving you the great big...

Oh, alright! These are pretty good, but one of these strike me the most which I will happily edit in!

Thank you so much for the helpful feedback!

Excellent! Can't wait to see her once she's in action now! :)

Ahhh, that looks very good! :) Well done! :)

Thank you all so much <3;-)

Am I able to make a character log of her now, or must I wait until I am 'Roleplayer' ?

Sorry if this was in the FAQ's or it's an obvious answer.

You probably can't yet, since you're not in the Roleplayers group. But if you're able to make a topic there now, go ahead!

A topic in the character Log? Or..? Sorry, it's really early @@

EDIT: Oh! Sorry about that! I can't submit into the character log just yet. Okay I am more than willing to wait! Happy that Canvas has been accepted though~
