My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic

Recommended Posts

Street Fighter 2 had destructible environments. Remember those barrels that would bust when you were kicked into em?

I remember them fondly. They were on Ken's stage and also, don't forget about the crates on Guile's stage as well. I still play it occasionally so I know for a fact that they could implement that sort of thing as, once an actor comes into contact with it from a throw that they break that piece of the environment.

Hmm, if it is in Sugarcube corner. You can probably destroy tables with cakes and treats on them or destroy flour bags.

And eve though Mane6 have he characters they will be putting in the game. I hope to see Chrysalis in it still. Just cause I can See Celestia as Ryu and Chrysalia as Akuma. Luna being Ken xD

it seems that they have been doing a lot of work for the 1v1 street fighter style pony fighting game, the music is immaculate and sprites look so darn good that i cant wait any longer for a release date, i don't even think that there is yet one that's been confirmed so far.

Just been looking at the Mane6 website for the project and it looks like they have just started doing sprites and voice acting for fluttershy just as well as more artwork for the stages,

MAN I REALLY WANT THIS GAME !

really good fluttershy voice actor below

It seems a working build of the game has been leaked (by a tester, apparently). The team has stated that in response they are no longer doing Q&A's and the development cycle is now closed (i.e only they get to test their game, as opposed to inviting some people to test it for them. Moreover, it also means no more updates until it's finalized).

Apparently, the leaked build lacks 2 characters - I'm guessing it's Rainbow and Fluttershy.

Anyway, Mane6 states that they are disappointed, but still plan on finishing the game.

I'm extremely disappointed in the tester's actions, but equally disappointed by Mane6's absolutely unprofessional reaction of cutting-off connection with the fandom.

I understand loss of trust, but TERMINATING QUALITY ASSURANCE? No more updates? They clearly did not think this decision through and are throwing a tantrum. This doesn't compromise their development, or even effect income. After all, this game is going to be for free, if I follow.

All that they're doing by getting rid off updates is showing their betrayal of the fandom and thinking we're all the same distrustful jerks that would leak the game in a heartbeat.

In my opinion, Mane6 is being unprofessional here. However, the tester that did this deserves most criticism.

Still, Mane6 SHOULD NOT be applauded for this kind of reaction. It's essentially a temper tantrum.

Just my .02

UPDATE:

Mane6 is NOT cancelling BSUs or any updates at all. They simply have run into a scheduling conflict because of the leak, as all of the features they were going to discuss in the new BSUs were leaked here. They sound like they intend to continue them. This is a plus.

Also, it appears they actually DO NOT mind if you play the leak. Odd, yes, but that's their words on their site. I suppose this IS an opportunity to see what is complete so far.

Still, however, horrible job by this tester. If we ever find out who he is, I suggest no love and tolerating for him anymore.

Leak? What? Where?

Quite frankly...

Look at the date I started this topic.

June 1, 2011.

20. 11.

And they only have FOUR characters ready.

I mean, COME ON, this is atrocious dev time speed, even for a free game. What, will they have all 17 characters done by 2020?

I think the main issue is the engine they're using: 2D Fighter Maker 2002 (MF2K). I get that they chose this engine because of "developer experience", but based on my own experience it is a horrible engine to make a custom fighter out of, especially one that uses sprites built from the ground up.

The conversion of every frame is overly complicated - they said this themselves. And it uses the most basic and overused fighting game style of all fighters, meaning creativity in concept is horribly limited.

This whole process of developing the game "professionally" has massively hampered its development, and overhyped it well beyond it's POTENTIAL.

And by "professionally", I'm talking about how they did not give the game a demo release that updates up to the final. They could have done this SINCE LAST YEAR (Applejack was already playable). But no, instead, they claim "professional development", and keep it from us for an entire year and more.

*sigh*

Look, I get what they wanted to do - make a great first impression. But with Season 3 on our doorstep, this project has stayed in development far longer than it had any right to, fact of the matter is, they screwed up before the game even released.

If it ever does, that is.

Anyway, I apologize for the massive rant, but I lost excitement for this game a long time ago, and it's all because of some guys who can't get over their egos and fix their mistakes.

Added mane6 site link in the first post.

Would have to agree, Whitehawke.

I'm still excited for what the final product is, but this development is EXTREMELY slow. Any other engine and we likely would be close to release for the Mane 6 as playable at this point, maybe even farther.

Guess they're just working with what they want...and frankly, it's going to bite someone in the flank at some point. Seems like it's biting us all with this leak.

This game was recently leaked without permission, causing Mane Six to clam up. Out of respect for the developers, I would avoid any dubious contact with the unauthorized release of this game, and wait until they have the final, finished, polished thing on the table for us to enjoy.

Sounds like best bet, even if Mane6 sounds like they don't care if you play the leak. Best to avoid it. After all, I'd be plagued with a guilty conscience if I downloaded and played a leak... :-|

Yeah, I agree, it would probably be best to avoid it. Not to mention that the leaked version is already outdated since they did a major content update right after it was leaked...
