Character Summary: When she was a little filly, all her pony friends were in such a rush to discover their secret talents and obtain their cutie marks. Except her; young Antimony at first, was never bothered by the thought of not having a cutie mark, and so went on with her life and having fun, as what most ponies do. But as more and more days passed by, eventually all her friends had obtained cutie marks of their very own. And yet her flank remained blank. Saddened, Antimony decided to spend her days locked away in the darkroom of her cousin Shutterbug's photo studio, embarrassed of the fact that she was still mark-less. In said darkroom she spent days and days mixing chemicals together to process photos, developing a newfound interest in chemicals. She eventually got over her depression with her blank flank, and in turn, gained a new obsession with chemicals.

One day her cousin hired a new assistant to work there, and asked Antimony to explain the ropes behind the job. It took her quite some time to get her point across and to explain things to the new comer, but once she started explaining all the chemicals they use, she just couldn't stop. She then realized her love for reactions and then voila! Her long-due cutie mark had finally appeared.

Antimony comes from a fairly small, but close-knitted family; which consists of her father, a cousin who is more like a sister than anything else, and herself. Because they consist of only 3 people, or rather ponies, when someone's in need they make sure to do whatever they can to help pitch in. So when he found out about Shutterbug's job not raking in the green, her father simply insisted that they help her out by him sending her money to help pay for supplies whenever necessary, and sending Antimony off to move in with her, to help develop photos faster while Shutter works in front with the ordering and the handling of customers.

Because she slowly spent less and less time socializing with others when growing up, Antimony is easily discouraged and doesn't do quite a good job talking to others (apart from direct family members), as she has trouble getting across what she wants to say. Unless you ask her a question about something chemical-related. Then it'll take her what will feel like forever to stop talking. Antimony also has a tendency to get distracted and go off topic into little "mini-rants". A lot.

Antimony dreams to one day work in a science lab and discover new elements, or own her very own science centre. Currently though, she is rather content with just reading about chemistry and performing 'family friendly at-home' experiments behind her cousin's back.

The only thing I see wrong with this character is that she didn't get her Cutie Mark until she was a Mare. It's alright in some extreme cases for a pony not to get their mark until they are a Filly or Colt, but most ponies generally get their marks when they are foals.

The thing is, I'm not really seeing why she couldn't have discovered her mark soonerâ€â€Âbut I do like the way that she discovered it. Perhaps she developed the photos in the darkroom, and one day after working discovered that she had her Cutie Mark.

Ah. My reasoning behind that is that, because she never really bothered or cared for looking for her special talent when she was younger and just lived life/had fun, she didn't get her mark -- because she never went out looking for it nor did she do anything related to it until she worked at her cousin's studio.

And at that time, not only did she not really socialize with anyone else, but she was kinda using working there as a means of escape from everyone else because of the fact she had no mark and was embarrassed. So the thought of chemicals being "it" never occurred to her; 'twas just something she thought she liked doing, like a hobby. Until one day she was kinda forced to come out of her shell when she got a new co-worker, and it was only then when she started to explain all about the do's and don'ts about the chemicals they use to someone else, did she realize how much she actually loved chemistry.

But oh wells. So you think I should change that part?

Well, not getting a Cutie Mark until Mare-hood doesn't really fit in canon. In the show, we see that ponies get their marks typically when they are foals or young Fillies and Colts. Ponies tend to enjoy and are drawn towards their talent. Sweetie Belle enjoys singing, but she doesn't realize yet that that may be where her talent lies. But it's something that she's good at and enjoys doing, so she's already on the right path.

All ponies should be good at something from a young age, even if they aren't sure where their true calling lies. If not, there has to be some drastic obstacle preventing them from that. Obstacles like parents pushing them in the wrong direction, or even friends making a pony stray from what they're good at to other activities.

If you can come up with very good reason why she got her mark so late, she may be allowed get it in late fillyhood.

I like how she's coming along it's quite interesting her love of chemicals, but how did she end up at her cousin's place? Where is her parents in all this did they give consent for her to live with her cousin and for her to experiment with the chemicals at a young age? What does she now plan to do with her life now that she has realized her special talent?
