2013-2014 College Football Bowl Season and Predictions

Hey! Bowl season is upon us! The *last* BCS standings are in and the conference championship games are over. It's now time for the national matchups of the best teams in the College Football Division 1 Bowls Series to get under way.

You have an alma mater or have a team you like to root for? Share the discussion here! This is the last year for the current BCS system, as next year will be the first FBS playoff between 4 teams that top the polls. What do you think of the current system, and do you like the change?

f4nh.jpgusc_trojans_fan_rarity_by_xfizzle-d49903t.jpg

The games are scheduled. If you're not too familiar with College football, you might know that there is a national championship game where it all comes down in January. However, there are actually several bowls every season, 35 to be exact. And all of them are scheduled with conference agreements and network systems, for the better, and sometimes for the worse.

Well guess what...

PICKS!!!

That's right! Maybe you've seen the NFL Predictions is Magic thread where ten of us bronies ruthlessly try to predict what has so far been very unpredictable in an NFL season. But I'm setting this up to do it here as well. It's a clean slate for anyone new that wants to join. Here are the rules:

- 35 games, everyone who wants to participate will pick a straight pick winner for each game.

- 30 games are non-BCS bowls, and are worth 1 point if correctly predicted

- 5 games are BCS bowls, and are worth 2 points if correctly predicted (a grand total of 40 points possible)

- picks must be turned in by Kickoff of the first game, which is Saturday, December 21st at 2:00pm ET.

- picks can be made via PM, or in this thread as a reply.

- no tiebreakers, for sake of simplicity

And that's it! Even if you don't think you know the teams very well, still be encouraged to pick. Sometimes the best part of this is seeing someone who doesn't know who the teams are correctly predict better than someone who is a diehard college football fan. And besides, I'm about as clueless on this as anyone. So if I can do it, so can you!

Here's the TV schedule, most games are on ESPN: http://www.chiff.com.../bowl-games.htm

And here's the copy/paste for submitting your picks. (the last five games are the BCS games worth double points. Bold and underline the winners for each game.)

riverhippo 14

Me, SteelEagle, and Mojo are all eliminated.

In the GoDaddy.com Bowl, if Arkansas State wins, MetalBronyATL wins the event.

If Ball State wins:

If Auburn wins the National Championship game, MetalBronyATL wins the event.

If Florida State wins the National Championship game, brianblackberry wins the event.

That's alright, River.

I'm just happy that both Ohio State and Alabama LOST!!!

Ditto. You have no idea how happy that makes me. My most bitter rival and the most overrated team both got embarrassed.

Dissapointed Auburn lost, but I'm happy for what we've achieved this year. Going from 3-9 to playing in the National Championship is nothing to be sad about. Auburn's not done yet! War Eagle!

Let all drink to the new national champions!

I have no feelings one way or another towards Florida State personally; I am just really happy that a conference other than the SEC won the BCS. Grown so sick of every commentator on ESPN kissing the SEC's flank. Sorry Auburn, nothing personal, just enjoyed watching your conference get the smug expression smacked off it's face with a tomahawk. :D

Don't feel bad, River, I also went 0-5 in BCS Bowl picks.

Next year, new bowl picking strategy:

Select the teams I THINK will win the games, and then officially pick the EXACT OPPOSITE TEAM EACH TIME!
