Recommended Posts

Name: Xiêyè Fēngbào

Sex: Male

Age: Adult

Species: Longma

Eye Color: Red

Character Color: His coat is a red almost reminiscent of blood, the scales a few shades darker so they clearly show up.

Mane/Tail: He keeps his mane in a ponytail to keep it out of his eyes, and his tail tuft is relatively short. These are both the same bright red of his eyes, with streaks of white. His horns are very straight, only curving slightly at the ends. He also wears a samurai helmet with holes for his ears, horns, and ponytail.

Physique: He boasts a warrior's physique, born of the intense physical training and his frequent fighting. He is of normal height for his age, and is covered with various scars from battles.

Residence: Wherever he needs to be to stop threats to his home.

Occupation: Swordfighter that guards the lands of Long Guo through his travels.

Cutie Mark: A shadow of crossed swords, representing to him that it was his destiny to walk the path of the traveling protector.

Unique Traits: Extensive training and use of samurai swords and armor. His preferred style involves the use of multiple swords at the same time and he carries three blades with him to facilitate that. His breath magic is almost as basic as it gets, preferring to simply use his skill and his weapons, though he does share the ability to grant himself increased energy with his brother. He also uses the breath to control the swords without having to touch them, like the levitation of unicorns.

History: Living as the younger brother of Jìjìng was not the easiest life for him. Despite being a Longma, he struggled not to be overshadowed by his brother's achievements. Of course, before Jìjìng had been a famous fighter in their town, Xiêyè had less trouble standing out. Even as a foal, his fiery nature was evident, and the fact he was a Longma in a family of quilins raised interest in him. Of course, a family that owned a restraunt was by no means high-profile, but he was still well known in the village.

Jìjìng was not the only one to receive training at the local dojo, though his training quickly became more specialized in the use of blades instead of a broader instruction of different fighting styles. His inspiration came more from the tales of the armored swordsmares and stallions that lived and died to protect their land and honor.

The day he earned his cutie mark was no different than any other, really. He had just finished his training for the day, and was leaving the dojo with some friends. They soon enough split off, and that was when some bullies decided to go after the weakest of the little group. Xiêyè saw them following his friend, and so he followed them. When they eventually cornered his friend, he came up behind them and attacked. With his training, weaponry, and the element of surprise he easily won the battle and the bullies were left with many cuts. Thankfully for them, the cuts were shallow and the safety of his friend was more important than punishing the bullies in his mind. After leading his friend away, he discovered his new mark and the two young males celebrated a bit together.

As he grew older, he devoted more time to his training, wearing armor during his sessions to get used to it. At the same time, he was developing his own style utilizing the multiple blades and the little dragonbreath he knew to help control them.

By the time Jìjìng had tarnished the honor of himself and his family, Xiêyè had already been out traveling around the country as well. When he heard of his brother's failure and subsequent journey to Equestria, he devoted himself even more to the protection of Long Guo, to regain the lost honor.

Personality: He has a very strict code of honor and ethics that he follows, which essentially boil down to don't endanger Long Guo, don't make promises you don't intend to keep, and fulfill every promise you do make.

Even with the dedication he has to his code, he is very headstrong and has a fiery temper. If he sees someone as a threat, he will not give much chance to explain, if any at all, before attacking. That being said, he does tend to make friends easily, and he is very loyal to his friends. He is always on the job, in his mind, so his attitude only really changes depending on who he is interacting with.

Summary: A fiery sword-fighter that is working tirelessly to regain the honor his brother lost, and in the process protecting his country.

Don't wish to sound anal, but wouldn't samurai logically be more of a Neighpon thing (as Neighpon is ruled by a Shogun and all)? Probably isn't too big of a deal, though.....

Well I don't really mean an actual samurai at this point anymore... More that that's the style of armor he wears and that he is very keen on honor and protecting his home. Dunno if those are actually what samurai were like, but hey, he's never been trained by any actual samurai either.

Edit----

Just to be safe I tried to remove the samurai stuff, aside from his equipment.
