[ Pony Related Character ]

Name: Stagelight Prancer (aka "The Stage Haunt")*

Gender: (Technically) Female (Gender expression will shift according to role. If Stagey is playing the part of a male, it will affect her behavior offstage until the production is done. The Stage Haunt persona tends to be more on the "gentlecoltly" side.)

Age: Young Mare

Species: Pegasus

Pelt Color: Pale green

Mane/Tail Color & Style: Midnight blue

Eye Color: (Left) White (entire eye), (Right) Red (iris)

Cutie Mark: White smiling mask

Physique: Somewhat peitite, more like a filly (possibly stunted growth), scar tissue around left eye.

Residence: The storrage area of a theater in Canterlot

Occupation: Actress/Playwrite/Generally Spooky Pony

Motivation: Stagelight wants to show everypony her talents, either through performing or writing (perhaps she'll even get to act in her magnum opus). Unfortunately, she tends to freak out ponies with or without a mask. "Oh well," she says to herself, "I'll just have to make do and get what I want through fear."

Likes: Scenery (It's delicious!), Feathers, Live-action roleplaying (more of a guilty pleasure >.>), Tiny hats (esp. with plumage), The smell of ink, Quiet contemplation

Dislikes: Uncomfortable costumes, Those who gawk at her scars, Lack of personal space, Critics, Physically demanding dance numbers, That... pony...

Character Summary: Little Stagelight fell in love with theater. She'd write up skits for her friends to act out. Whenever there was a school play, she would be sure to audition. She worked her flanks off memorizing scripts. She would molt like crazy under the stress, but she'd take the feathers and add them for a special touch to her costumes. Stagelight would often get so into her roles that she would mimic her characters offstage until the end of the production.

She was also introduced to tabletop games by a few friends. She found that she especially enjoyed LARPing. This unfortunately left her branded as a "nerd" and led to teasing by other ponies. She began to work even harder, to try to reach stardom.

Eventually she got a lead part. She wanted to make a big entrance and worked with the science club to make a flashy special effect. "Fireworks would be awesome," they had said, "Even more so set off by a dragon." Alas, they went off early and her head got caught up in the flames and chemicals. The terrible accident left her permanently disfigured and blinded in one eye. Since then, Stagelight has been in hiding, never wanting to show her face again. But the theater still beckoned.

There was a production that had a masquerade number, and Stagey decided that would be a good time to sneak onstage. Her mask, however, unnerved many of the ponies. The actors wondered who the strange pony was. She slipped away after the number. Rumors spread about a ghost haunting the theater. Cast and crew catch glimpses of the mysterious pony in the shadows. They find notes critiquing the actors and making suggestions. Occasionally, booby traps are set for the more obnoxious, cocky actors.

XD I'm getting sort of a "Phantom of the Opera" vibe from her. I'd like to learn a little more about her. Perhaps you could expand a little more on her theater life and her accident.

Does she use her pegasus talents to help her with stage performance? If so, It'd be nice to hear a little bit about that. If not, having her be an earth pony might work just as well.

I know. I started with just a pony in a mask and thought "Hmm... Maybe she could be a thespian. ...Wait. Theater? Mask? Of course!"

I'm still trying to figure out the details. I'm not really sure how she would've gotten burned or exposed to a corrosive substance. Maybe a dragon was involved. Whatever happened, Stagelight probably thinks it wasn't an accident at all, and blames her understudy or a jealous filly who auditioned but didn't get in at all.

I guess she uses her wings more for gesturing and expression than for flying, but if a performance calls for/can be enhanced by going airborne, she's more than happy to. She may also spread her wings in order to appear larger and more imposing.

And I want an excuse to give her feathers to match her mask XD

Very interesting character! I think we can detail her just a little bit more. c:

She might not use her her wings for flying to much, but maybe she has a "talent" for growing feathers, and she uses these beautiful feathers for props and costumes she makes for herself.

I think we should also detail a bit more on the accident too, a dragon accident during a performance would be really good. Or anything else we could brain storm. C:

I like the concept behind this character. She could use alittle more fleshing out in the summary, I think, though. Perhaps as a thespian, she cannot resist the curtain call and finds excuses to join the main cast during a masquerade, or something? (Granted, harder to do when you're a multicolored pony than if everyone was just wearing costumes, but still possible!) and really shines. Or, like Sweetie Belle, happens to run around stage as well as the stage haint that somehow manages to catch all the little mistakes that could ruin a good performance! I concur with Ashi's idea, as well, expand a bit on the accident, how it happened, and how it affected her outlook on performances. And the feather thing is not a bad idea either!

Sorry I haven't been responding so much, everypony. I'll get back to work on Stage Haunt soon, but my first priority is my English homework (I'm trying to write a children's book. And I'll have to illustrate it. And I'm running behind. So much fun...)

hey Ive got an actor and stage performer pony as well on his way to canterlot, hope we can roleplay some time. :)

pony's name is: Noir Moonstep

Hey. ^_^ I did see your character app. before and thought "Oh. Another theater pony! I should go say hi to Noir," but you wound up posting here first.

I do like the special effect gone wrong idea. And maybe Stagey wanted to incorporate something extra flashy for her first time with the lead part and set up her own downfall?

I also like the use-her-own-feathers idea. And the masquerade.

I'm thinking of adding a love of LARPing to her background as well. Which may have gotten her branded as a nerd and given her additional motivation to rise to stardom.

Just a reminder, if you feel that your character is finished, don't forget to remove the WIP tag in the title. If it's on there, your app won't be considered for approval.

I'm not quite sure if there's anything else I should add.

Well, if there's anything that's a problem with it, someone will let you know if/why they can't approve it.
