  1. I had a date today. It was mediocre. But she knew what bronies were, and was unphased.

So I take it it went well? Or at least, not awful?

  2. Sometimes life is like that old Mexican woman who drags you up on stage and won't let you stop dancing to a seemingly endless song and it would feel rude to walk away, but you don't know enough Spanish to politely decline and you only know one salsa dance move which isn't completely appropriate, but it's all you've got, and even if you could scooch away while she was lost in the dance, she'd find you and drag you back up because you don't have anywhere else to go.

But in a mosh, all you have to do is jump, sing, bounce your hands up in the air. You don't have to know how to dance.

Depends how brutal the mosh is?

Yeah, I forget that some of them require the ability to defend yourself, and keep your feet at all costs.

  3. Agreed. I've waited weeks before and that was fine. But this thread is awesome in general, and specifically because you have kept us informed as well.
  4. What did you think I meant? And as far as flying goes, it would be interesting if Fluttershy was better at teaching the basics than Rainbow. Either either either way, this conversation gives me hope.
  5. For bonus points, the new lines must fit the picture that follows it as well as the preceding pic, while being dissimilar to the original writer's line. Also, link the last pic back to the first. 1) Twilight isn't flying, she is falling with style 2) Faith in her horn is Sparkle's weakness 3) Twilight shows blatant disregard for gravity 4) When will TS get serious about her responsibilities? 5) First day with wings, and she is already getting in over her head 6) Twilight poses a grave threat to Equestria 7) Wings have never caused this many problems Link) Never trust wings from a snake-oil salespony.
  6. That hurts my soul. I really hope there is a better reason for the late start.
  7. Ah yes, I had forgotten about her. Most ponies have a human style that sits flat and broad over the whole head, and a mane that is thin at the back where it meets the hair. Is there any way to make that look good? Zecora looks great from that angle because the hair on her head is already thin because it is a mohawk. Also, her neck-rings preempt a full neck mane, so there is barely any transition as all. It manages to look horse-like, tribal and aesthetic all at once. She has a great overall design.
  8. My sister came to visit me last summer, and had never seen any episodes. I started her off on the pilot, and on her initiative we binged the first two seasons in a single week. With only the wedding episodes remaining, I primed her with this quote: Me: "I am so glad you are enjoying this show. You're my LSBFF" Sister: "What?" Me: "Little Sister Best Friend Forever" Sister: "Well you're my...(pause to think)...BBBFF! Ha!" The look on her face when we got to that part a few minutes later was priceless.
  9. Those are pretty neat, but the million dollar question is: "how do the manes look from the back?" I still haven't found any figures that look good from that angle.
  10. Say what? I was thinking about Applejack when I wrote that one. I certainly wasn't thinking about Pinkie Pie helping her get in touch with her earth-pony-ness.
  11. Two of my friends and coworkers were laid off today. I suffer a confusing mix of relief and some sort of survivor-guilt.

  12. Agreed. I don't want a whole episode on that either. But there are tons of ways that flying could be incorporated into an episode well. Off the top of my head: 1) using flying as an analogy for her new roles and responsibilities 2) if flying is instinctual, it could be related to some other struggle that Twilight can't solve just by thinking it through. 3) if there is something stressful happening, flying lessons could be her one chance to escape and process her new life (similar to "the princess bride" or "brave") 4) what if flying lessons inspire a desire to investigate her new earth pony nature? I really hope that they don't miss such a neat opportunity.
  13. I guess she could still have trouble landing...or taking off. Maybe Shining Armor had to throw her... : )
  14. Heh. The gallery certainly exploded with copic-y goodness : )
  15. The conclusion of the episode has me torn. For one, it is fun to see her flying. But how could would it have been to watch her learn to fly?
  16. Ah, I see. Also that Applebloom got a horn from Celestia...
  17. Heh, I had missed that Fawkes also brought Twilight into it without hearing her name. And a closer look at his pic revealed Celestia hiding under all the money... : )
  18. How do you expect it to change?
  19. Pony drought? We have been getting two official comics a month...
  20. YAY! Saucepan's pic is remarkable both because it is indeed epic, but ALSO because it kept Twilight without her being referenced! Also, Gecy's is so cute! Who could fire at that?!
