  1. I've had "Sunshine and Celery Stalks" by PinkiePieSwear stuck in my head all day. AAALLLLLLLLLL DAY. A natural progression from Flutterwonder the other day. If you like techno/trance they are worth checking out! What other full fledged fan songs (or remixes) are worth checking out? Extra awesome points if they are available for download!
  2. OK, I saw this posted and my very first thought was that a similar physical theory could explain fine motor control for ponies. Or the Power Puff girls for that matter.... If, in a magical world, they can manipulate the structure of their hooves then they can be rock hard when walking or working but then the granular structure could soften to allow the holding of implements. So here's the answer for "hoof carved" snowflakes et all.
  3. Well, with my medieval reenactment and some of the living conditions I have experienced, i don't think the tech would bother me. And I have some skills that might make me a place there. But it would be easier as a pony. Espescially if I had to relearn everything.
  4. I like the look and feel of the show. The writing is good too. While I wouldn't watch it if it wasn't "pretty", I also wouldn't watch if it wasn't a quality show. But the primary reason is that it is a bright place in a world ever more obsessed with darkness. Sometimes it is bittersweet because the show makes me happy, but I wish I had something like what the mane six have.
  5. After the initial care giving, I would try and do whatever I could to find another pony. I'd hate for her to be lonely. (assuming her based on statistics of the show.) All of this after a head exploding SQEEE! of course.
  6. I don't have any subscriptions but I follow Meekakitty and Josie Charlwood on FaceBook so I know when they post new stuff.
  7. Flutterscotch, thanks for posting that. I was as confused as Rosewind. Probably more, but that's just the general state of things for me.
  8. It is worth mentioning that we live in a culture dominated by media. A media that is conveying an ever increasing message of negativity and cruelty. Compare the number of shows about violent, destructive themes. Law and Order: SVU (and all of the L&O shows), Dexter (serial killer...), the CSI franchise, all of the supposed "reality" TV that chases sensationalistic destructive behavior. All of this is apparently fine by most people's standards. But not everyone enjoys this constant bombardment of negativity and finds solace is the cheerful, brightly colored, clever stories that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has to offer. I am married with 12 year old twin sons. We watch the show together or separately and talk about the funny things that happen. As hard as it is for someone my age to connect with our kids, this show helps us do that, and gives us common ground. One other point is the fact that this is just the latest media-hyped scare fest. At one time it was back-masking in records. In the 80's Dungeons & Dragons was connected to devil worship. Now people know it leads to Cheet-Os and Mt. Dew, not ritual sacrifice. In the 90's Pokemon was linked to Satanism, promoting psycic beliefs and witchcraft. Then it was Harry Potter promoting witchcraft and the occult. Now we are here and MLP:FiM is a pop-culture event and it has its own media terror to go with it as well.
  9. While I may not agree with which song you said was best, I must say I love the way you said it!!! "Art of the Dress" ate my brain for a long while. "Winter Wrap Up" was a close second. Now "Love is in Bloom" wins by a hair.
  10. Hear-hear. I like my Ponies because they are a bit of light and happiness in a hurtful world. So I hate to stumble upon hurtful things mixed with my antidote. I avoid some sites because of that. But I don't blame the ponies. I think if people want to ponify things then that is their prerogative. Jumping on the bandwagon of, "If you don't like it don't look at it." I'm a huge Hobbit fan as well. And a few other books are almost sacred tomes to me. So I won't watch/read a ponification of them.
  11. Actually considering how often I slip and swear with great energy and fluency I should actually try to use more pony curses! I too usually reference either Goddess of Gods when outbursting....
  12. Recycle the pink Celestias they still had in the warehouse or something?
  13. So on a lot lower tech level, I've been doing a lot of research lately on historic metallurgy. Being from the States I'm used to Farenheit. But most of the metallurgy liturature is in Centigrade. Anyone have any experience switching over their thought processes? Wondering how to get to a point where I'm not trying to do conversions in my head.
  14. There are always trade offs with energy exchange. I read not too long ago that our current gas engines are only about 20% efficient, diesels are a bit better, but they have a bit slower response curve. There was a time when they experimented with Stirling engines in cars which can approach 50% efficiency but they are larger and had to be warmed up before use. People want instant action from a car so they were a failed experiment. Fusion, if we pull it off, will likely never (in a timeline that matters to us personally) be compact enough for anything but powerplants. And I seriously doubt that it would be an on/off switchable reaction like an auto would require. Now build me an Arc reactor and woo-hoo!
  15. Well, in "Party of One" Pinkie turns a duller color as well. Maybe losing their brightness is a natural side effect of despair for ponies. Pinkie Pie "discorded." Pinkie Pie in "Po1" Almost the same color. It makes me wonder more why her hair didn't straighten out when Discord got her. Yup!
  16. Well, I saw here that they aren't in the US yet. That Tumblr links to this site which has the codes for all 5 waves, which is cool. It also has the key to reading the 5 digit codes, which I haven't seen anywhere before. That's helpful because our local store only has the 5 digit coded bags.
  17. I think one thing would make all the difference in the world: would the goal be to make a good show first, and hope it draws fans, or be an attempt to make something "popular." FiM wasn't made to have a broad appeal out the gate, it was made to be a better show for girls than what they had been offered. It happened, due to organic chemistry of social climate and everything else, drawing a wider audience. If they try to re-imagine care Bears with the thought, "Let's try to make a show that will catch not only little girls (or just kids) but these adult viewers as well," I hazard a guess that it won't have the same magic. There would be a forced feel to it that MLP: FiM hasn't had so far, and I hope never does. Don't try to make something that will sell, just try to make something awesome, because you think people deserve awesome things.
  18. The only thing I think is seriously off with the straight on shots is that it tends to make the head look much larger, proportionally, than other views. But overall I like the style they're using.
  19. While I have serious doubts, I won't say it's impossible. I watched "Clarissa Explains it All" and "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" (yes, I had a thing for Melissa Joan Hart) And the Sabrina tTW animated series. So MLP: FiM isn't my first out of target audience experience. Who Knows what will catch my attention next.
  20. I've never read that, but I did read the basic synopsis. Just that gave me a sad. And that was the first thing to pop in my head after seeing the clip.
  21. Thanks. I went to that site and was then forced to read every single comic posted. Please tell me they update regularly.....
  22. I would certainly hope to be a unicorn. Magic would certainly be appealing and I like research as well. Especially history. But considering how earthy some of my pursuits are I would expect to be an earth pony. Raised on a farm, live in a rural community, into blacksmithing. Unless it would take a unicorn to swing the hammer, although the Apple family seems to get by without magic just fine....
