  2. This character was originally an NPC antagonist in a WoE thread, but I liked my design for her and have wanted to app her as her own character for a while. She's clearly not suitable to being her own player character in WoE, but now there's Canterlot Chronicles... so... Name: Brenda Razorclaw Gender: female Age: adult Species: Griffon Eye colour: yellow-green Character colour: Her front feathers are pure white with bright blue tips on the crest, her fur is golden brown and her wings are a very dark brown. Mane/Tail/Other: Her crest has a small fringe like tuft in the front and a very high, upward swept tuft of thick feathers in the back. Her tail is a long lion's tail; the end has been dyed the same blue as the ends of her crest. Physique: Brenda is somewhat taller and larger than other female griffons, though not incredibly so. She has a strong, athletic build. A noticeable scar shows through her feathers on the left side of her face, just underneath her eye. Residence: A private villa on the outskirts of Talonopolis Occupation: Major in the Aquellia Marines. Private collector dealing in weapons, armor and a variety of relics. Cutie Mark: N/A Unique Traits: Brenda is a member of the Razorclaw family, the most prestigious of Aquellia's leading families, and as such has considerable wealth and prestige to her name, as well as connections. She is also a formidable intellect and, being a highly trained member of the Aquellian Marines, is also adept in combat. She is rarely seen not adorned in Rockwington made armor, generally either crimson or gold in color. She is skilled in wielding a variety of weaponry, but is most often equipped with a sinister looking long spear and a short sword for closer combat. History: Born a member of the illustrious Razorclaw family, niece to the family's current head, Brenda had from very early on a luxurious life in Talonopolis. From the beginning, however, she was a rougher sort of child then most of the children of the three families. She had a tendency to pick fights and constantly rebel and struggled to make friends very easily as a result. The family worried over her tendency to go off and do her own thing, and how it would frequently mean her running off into the city on her own, but the young Brenda had a desire to find her own way in the world that would not be stopped. Eventually, this lead the young griffoness to run away from home all the way to Rockwington. Taking on an assumed identity as a wayward orphan, she convinced a local master blacksmith by the name of Clive Piniongale to to take her on as an apprentice. It was here, marveling at the results of the smith's toils that Brenda found a love for traditionally forged weapons and armor that would serve to inspire her and give her a set focus for the future. It was also in this time, that Brenda successfully found a friend in the smith's daughter Ava. She felt like she had found a place that suited her there, but there was no evading the powerful Razorclaw clan forever; after just a few short but sweet months in Rockwington, Brenda was pulled back to Talonopolis by her family. The young griffon had a better understanding of what she wanted to do with herself now, and as such was better behaved. Smithing weapons was not a job for a Razorclaw, but by following the path of an officer in the Aquelian Marines she would get her chance at least to make use of those fine armaments. The young griffon started to train both her body and mind toward excellence. In the process, her standing within the family greatly increased and griffons began to flock to her wanting to be in her social circle. Excelling at her studies and training, as she was becoming an adult, she succeeded in becoming an officer. Brenda's military career moved fairly quickly in its early stages. She built a sterling reputation as a leader, and moved quite steadily up the ranks. Capturing the hearts of many in the public with her take charge attitude and the distinctive nonstandard arms and armor she favored, she was dubbed the Razorclaws' "Battle Princess", a title she seemed to eagerly welcome. Throughout her career, Brenda built up an impressive private collection of armor and weaponry. Though starting with standard pieces from throughout the world, she eventually started to set her sights on extremely rare pieces. In time, acquiring the perfect items for her collection became increasingly important to her. She began to abuse her status, name and rank to use military resources for entirely her own ends, setting marines in her command off on expeditions to seek out relics. Unrelenting and quick to employ extreme punishments with little provocation if it benefitted her, she soon fell out of favor with many in the Marines and within the three families, though her overall popularity and her being a Razorclaw made the proposition of dealing with her a difficult one. As years passed and Brenda became only an increasingly loose cannon, she found only more enemies, some of which were willing to go to extreme methods to remove her from the pictures. Assassins were hired to silence her, but none could get the drop on the cunning and capable griffoness. Already having to deal with thieves and rival collectors, following theses attempts, Brenda became more withdrawn and less trusting. She had a private villa built for her on the outskirts of Talonopolis and soon had it outfitted with all sorts of vicious mechanical traps. She remained undeterred in her pursuits, the revelation that she had more enemies watching her only resulting in her becoming more watchful of those around her. Her enemies would try again, though to get in close to her in her increasingly paranoid state, they opted to hire someone she would be willing to let her guard down around. Brenda's old friend Ava was sought out and set on her. The ploy seemed ready to work at first, but Brenda succeeded at making her former friend flinch at the critical moment, the bullet fired missing the target and just slicing into her left cheek, leaving a noticeable scar. Feeling deeply betrayed, whatever trust she might have still had in others just crumbled further. Brenda, however, even after this blow, has proven herself to be a griffon who does not lie down when wounded. Character Summary: Brenda is cunning and intelligent as well as exceedingly proud. She's a charismatic speaker who carries herself with a certain grace and elegance under a public or social eye. She's a very strong willed individual who acts with boldness and flair, equally capable of being inspiring and intimidating. Because of this, she excels at leading others and in winning others to her side. She can also be described as exceedingly self concerned. She has a selfish personality, and when there is something she wants she will go to any means necessary to acquire it. It's all to easy for her to lose sight of the concerns of others when she has her eyes set on something, and she can get quite temperamental when she doesn't get her way. When she gets worked up or into the moment, she can become quite cruel and vicious, especially at the first sign of defiance. She has a love of arms and armor and is especially proud of her large collection. She has a distaste for more modern weaponry like firearms, favoring to use and collect bladed weapons and classic fare. Her strongest fondness is for Aquellian made, Rockwington masterworks, though anything well made or rare is worthy of her. In addition to weaponry, Brenda has a fondness for classical music and literature, hearty meat dishes and hunting. She fears losing anything, as she doesn't know how to cope with it. Brenda is very preoccupied with the with the idea of power. She respects those with it and views those without it as not worth her time. She sees the majority of poynkind as weak, and as such does not have a very favorable of them as a whole. In general, respect is something that is very hard won with her, though those she does respect she will be tempted to stand by regardless of what they think of her. Those she does not respect are more likely to be mistreated by her. Due to how attached she gets to her things, how she fears losing anything and the number of attempts that have been made against her, Brenda can be rather paranoid when she's not occupied with something. Her villa is outfitted with brutal traps to eliminate intruders. She is quick to persecute and refuses to trust others completely. As such, while she has no problems mingling at social functions, she has few she would consider as friends. She prefers quiet moments spent to herself. First time writing a purely CC app; hope I'm not pushing it too far

  6. If the character is based on a character or person, it really depends on the extent of it. It's possible to just be inspired by something else and not just copy and ponify it. if you're character is judged to be original enough to stand on their own, it might be allowed in to Canterlot Chronicles; it all depends on how its presented. In you case, I can't say too much definitively as I have no real familiarity with the character you're saying inspired your character.
  7. For anyone who has an approved crossover/FFA character, I'm afraid you are going to apply again. Canterlot Chronicles is freer than WoE, but it still has a slightly different set of standards from Free RP, and Free RP characters will not automatically be approved. For any CO/FFA character you want to move to CC, please submit a new Canterlot Chronicles app. Though in the case of Bowie, I regret to say, it's probably still going to be a no-go as from what I can recall the character is based on a character from another media. This type of "ponyfication" character is not approvable in Canterlot Chronicles, and is best still played in the Crossovers Free RP forum (which was made to accommodate such characters).

  11. "Pointing hooves, are we? You might think I'm just some country bumpkin on her first trip to the city, but I know my rights! None of you has testified to have seen me take the bag, and none of you saw me leaving with the bag. So where is your proof it was me? Well? I'm listening." Radiant had, for at least a moment, begun to doubt whether the mare she had apprehended was indeed guilty of the crime she was accused of. This mare, if nothing else, spoke with conviction as she attested her innocence. It would be enough to sway many. However, upon returning to the crime scene, she found nothing save accusations bandied in this mare's direction. Such a thing did not bode well for her. The case against her was looking more complete with each pony who spoke. Watching it, Radiant almost felt sorry for her, as much as she tried to silence such thoughts; it was a sign of weakness. All the same, there came a point when she felt the need to step forward."'Where is their proof?' Well, where is yours? If you are not guilty, then who is?" Radiant questioned, glancing at her closely. "The bag is gone, so someone must have taken it. The crowd casts their suspicion on you and no other suspects have been named. What do you have to prove that they're wrong besides your word?" Radiant gave a rigid nod and looked from the mare to the crowd and then back again. "After all, if you are nothing but an unfortunate scapegoat, the true culprit is still at large."
  12. "wow, thanks!" Rarity gave an awkward smile at Dash and a weak chuckle. She certainly didn't like being dirtied yet again, but she hadn't had a lot of other options."It was the least I could, darling. A true mare of fashion must make many sacrifices to ensure the fabulosity of those around her," she said with a soft nod. "Hoa, 'at was close Dash! almost ruined yer fancy frock! Stoatin' save that, miss, ummm… Ah am sorry Ah forgot yer nam! But ye gotta appreciate a gal wot dinnae mind gettin' dirty!" Rarity smiled and nodded at the charming, heavily accented farm stallion's comment. He seemed like a nice guy, even if he was probably misunderstanding the situation to some extent. "It's Rarity, darling. And while I'd hardly say I enjoy making a mess of myself, for a precious friend like Rainbow Dash, I am more than willing to do what must be done," she said, putting on her best smile. "Sure, he says that ... but I've never met a cleaner farmer. You should see him and his sister. 'Ach! wot're ye makin' a mess of me kitchen!' 'It's called cookin'! If ye wanna eat ye'll shut it!'" At Dash's silly impression of the farmer, Carrot, and his sister, Rarity tried to stifle her laughter. Dash evidently knew this gentlestallion well, to have his uncommon Fet Loch accent down so well. She nodded and gave a chuckle."I see! Well, that doesn't truly surprise," Rarity said. "With that darling kilt and all, he does look a stallion who would be concerned with keeping a clean appearance." "So ... what *can* I do in a kitchen that won't get this getup all dirty?" "Hmm..." Rarity started at this question. "Well, a kitchen truly isn't a very good place to be for the well dressed, Rainbow. Everything calls for a precision and care if you wish to remain untarnished. It may prove best if you let others handing the baking now and rejoin the party.""Shoods we gang it intae th' main room? we dornt want tae miss th' present openings, an' mah sister brooght a cake! Large enaw fur everypony tae gie a slice tay! Thaur ye gang ladies, we dornt want tae gie 'at frock dirty, yoo're jist sae bonnie in it." Rarity nodded as she trotted toward a towel. She couldn't correct all of her disheveled appearance, but she was compelled to at least wipe off the obvious splotches before she went anywhere."Mr. Fields has the right idea. I get the idea that Pinkie should be able to handle it from here. We really should join the others. I'm sure they'll all be delighted to see you," Rarity said, smiling toward her rainbow maned friend.
  13. "I do take on many jobs similar to this one. My past experiences have shown that griffon employment is substantially more profitable. I find notions of preferential treatment irrational, and go where the bits are most plentiful. Is my response adequate, I hope I am not confusing you Lady Gilda," "Heh. Nah, makes absolutely perfect sense to me. Seems to me like that's the only sensible way to operate with this kind of work," Gilda said, nodding to the mare. This shifty unicorn hadn't disappointed yet; this mercenary attitude was exactly what she would have expected from a master thief for hire. The one thing about the pony that did striker her weird was the manner of address? Lady Gilda? Was she serious? That was just ridiculous. There was nothing about her that called for formalities, especially from a shady thief. This was an easy thing to correct though. "It's just Gilda though; I'm certainly no flapping Razorclaw or anything. I'm just a griffon who happens to have a certain interest in nice things like what you gave that Goldplume fool back there," she said, smirking excitedly. "I aplogize for the misunderstanding ma'am. Yes, I can catch a ride on an airship back to Canterlot. There is one scheduled to leave here every night at approximately twenty hundred. I could arrive there and it still would be dark outside. The museum itself wouldn't open for a few hours. Perhaps a 'tour' of some kind might be in order. I believe that I can provide you a spot on the ship if you wish to accompany me," This sounded promising. Sneaking on board an airship, arriving in that pony capital with hours left to "tour" this museum and take what she wanted... it sounded like a great setup. This pony really knew her stuff, she supposed. If nothing else, this sounded like it'd be a fair amount of fun. Gilda was nothing if not eager to see where it took her. "If you decide to accompany me, I will be at the northern air dock, I have a spire to climb and I believe you would prefer flying to the top regardless. If not, may you have an acceptable evening and farewell," "Heh. I'll definitely say I'm intrigued," Gilda said, trying not to show too much interested. She wanted to keep her cool in front of this professional criminal."I'll give it some thought. Perhaps you'll see me again when you get up there..." she added in a cool voice, stretching her wings and lifting herself up off the ground. "Either way, see ya around, pony."

  17. Free RP Rules The Free Roleplay sections of Canterlot.com, by design, have little in the way of set rules. That said, this does not mean these sections have no rules whatsoever. If you intend to partake in the Free Roleplay sections, keep the following in mind: All content must still follow site wide rules. Make sure you are familiar with the rules listed here before posting anywhere on the forum. Adult content of any variety, be it violence or sexuality, should not be posted outside of the designated 18+ roleplay section. This includes threads in the out of character discussion section. Roleplayers should strive to respect one another. Listen to your roleplay partners and try to treat others fairly. It's more fun for everyone that way. If the staff need to interject in a roleplay for any reason, please be understanding and respectful. (Although if you read and follow the rules, this should not happen.)

  23. I guess I'll continue this tangent, since it's kind of fun. OC shippability for me goes as follows: Radiant Steel - currently unshipped, but seems prone to crushing on stallions. I can definitely see something happening if the right pony came along to cut through all the awkwardness Hopesong - she's still a little young for serious shipping; a bit silly for it too. Not shippable Snowfall - very happily in a relationship with Pathfinder. Damask Luster - played the character almost never, but I guess he'd be easy enough to ship if I ever wanted to. Serendipity - not sure she's shippable long term as freedom is so important to her. it would have to just really make sense. She'll flirt with absolutely anyone and everyone though. Crystal Snowflake - had an NPC husband who vanished. Doesn't seem to be against finding someone again, as her date with Merlot evidences Lady Luck - she has a lot of trust issues and values her independence. I can't see her getting shipped unless a mare came along just right for her. Midnight Brand - she had a NPC love in the past. She's now intensely guarded and chooses to stay distant, but I don't think she's hopeless for the right stallion. Ardent Fate - definitely too young and too out of her mind to be shipped. Starless Shroud - It's hard to see her as an especially romantic type. Someone would have to work aggressively to make an impression if they were interested. Harlequin Salad - she's definitely interested in a relationship; her bizarre attitude and the fact that her cooking is potentially lethal might prove to be a barrier though. Spirit Flame - I doubt romance is something she'd understand. She needs to come a little more out of her shell, get rid of the repressed emotions and learn a little more about the world before any kind of shipping. Dazzle Dawn - not very shippable. She's a friendship nut, so that's where her mind stays acutely focused. Romance doesn't even occur to her generally. There are romantic overtones to how she feels about Arcana though. Arcana - she probably has feelings for Dazzle Dawn on some level. I see other ships as more possible with her though, bizarrely. If she ever found someone who could match her, who she respected and who was interested I can see her letting down her guard. Steel Dagger - he's got an on/off thing with my other character Verity Essence, and while it's hard to see him get too serious about any one mare, I think he is shippable. Would have liked to see if that dance with Sugar Star lead to anything... Gray Lexis - he's a bold one and certainly interested in the mares. While he might profess an interest in younger mares, for the long term I think somepony who is closer to his age and more of a match for him in knowledge could possible be a good fit. Alexandrite Tilt - she had a pretty strong fixation on a certain ballet dancer for a while, though that's not likely to pan out now, unfortunately. Still, she's quite shippable, I'd say. Tourmaline Glass - she's a precocious little brat who is both too young and too wrapped up in herself for anything. Verity Essence - has her fling with Steel Dagger. Would maybe be interested in something a little more serious if she found a stallion or mare who could keep up with her. Sierra - probably not very shippable. She doesn't have very high opinions of most other dragons. i imagine it'd be hard to find something that worked. Vivid Flair - completely unshippable. Too wrapped up in her head and too at her core a loner to want to get attached to anyone Insara - has an NPC husband Gilda - I read her relationship with Dash as one-sided romantic. She is aggressively independent though, and after having gotten burned there I can't see her letting anyone else close for quite a long time. Someone would need to try really hard while not annoying her completely in the process. Rarity - I refuse to ship her within WoE. I do tend to play her with having maybe the slightest crush on Dash, and she certainly gets playful with other ponies if the need arises, but I don't think it would benefit the game to have her ship with anyone for real. Cloudchaser - happily in a relationship with Flitter Lyra Hearstrings - happily in a relationship with Bon Bon
