1. You're sure? Because I recall Fluttershy calling the school Canterlot High... and Fluttershy does mention that there are other schools (asking Twilight if she transferred from another school)... But if that IS a non-issue for you, then I'm perfectly happy with bringing Honeydew in. :D

    Name: Honeydew (Application: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/5834-honeydew-final/ )

Group: Hard to say. My guess is on the business side of things, she's with the nerds (what with probably doing nerdy things like school yearbook and school newspaper). But I can't see them tolerating her loudness and pushiness very well, so, she probably tends towards hanging out with the dramas.

    So...

Nerds and Dramas. (Maybe oddball clique, too).

    Also...

    Name: Soarin

    Group: Jocks

  2. I thought the name of the school was Canterlot High... And I just realized, with some horror, that I don't really have a character that fits and also lives in Canterlot! Gugh, gugh.... Honeydew would be good, but she lives in Manehattan, even if she does travel a lot. Moon Walker is too old (what with having a kid and all)... And I'm not sure really if I want to play Tawny in a high school. Cinnabar Star would also work, but she lives in the Crystal Empire, so that's a no go, too...

Must make a profile for a Canterlot-living OC.... GAH.

  5. In the middle of the trail, Honeydew was hard at work, doing something that would no doubt get her kicked out of the park should the appropriate authorities catch her. She was digging up that part of the trail. Nearby, there were also several very deep holes that she had dug. The honey-coloured mare's hooves were a complete mess. There was dirt smudges on her face, and her hair was slightly disheveled. She stiffened when she heard somepony approaching. Cautiously, she peeked out of the hole. She spotted the deer approaching and looked relieved upon noticing that she was just an average park-goer and not someone who had the authority to kick her out of the park.

She was so close to discovering the long lost treasure of Old Picker-Upper, famed treasure hunter and world champion of hide-and-seek from a long, long time ago. Legend had it that before he died, he buried all the treasure he had ever collected in one location. Most believed it was located somewhere in the Gallopocus Islands, but Honeydew had reason to believe that there were a few other plausible locations. She was so close! She could feel it in her bones! Her journalist instincts were tingling. The treasure was here. She was sure of it!

She turned away from the deer in a dismissive manner to resume digging, but then caught a whiff of the food she was carrying. This gave her pause. She peeked out of the hole again, sniffing at the air. Her stomach grumbled. All the digging she was doing was working up quite the appetite. Pink-coloured eyes locked onto the deer's in an intense, hungering stare. "Hello," she greeted, scrambling to climb out of the hole. The gaze moved to the picnic basket the deer had.

"You know, that looks like a really big basket." Honeydew licked her lips. "Really big. Really heavy. A doe like you couldn't possibly eat all of what's in there by herself. Luckily for you, you just so happened to run across me. I would be more than happy to lend my assistance."

    Fooooooooooooood...

  6. Cinnabar Star was still admiring the dress when Ruby told her she wasn't expecting anything, and then introduced herself. She blinked, then looked at the other mare in the shop. That mare wasn't even a crystal pony! Uh-oh. She returned to the package and looked at the name. It was for a Miss Sapphire Shoes. "Oopsie. I think I went to the wrong place." She paused a second, then took her satchel off and dumped a pile of mail onto the floor. "I think I do have a letter for you, though." She sifted through the pile of mail before finding Ruby's name. "Aha! Here we are!" She offered the letter to Ruby, then set to work dumping the mail back into her satchel. "I'll be right back. I gotta make a quick run to get this package to Miss Sapphire Shoes!" She managed to get the package strapped back to her back and rushed out the door.

Five minutes later, she returned, sweat noticeably dripping down her brow. She was also panting. "Huff, huff... what a work-out. Huff... I was almost late." The satchels on her back looked less full, as well.

She sat down on the floor and held a hoof up. "I'm Cinnabar Star, by the way. Give me a moment. Huff...."

When she had recovered a little, she gestured over to the filly dress. "How much is it?"

  7. Which browser would you recommend? I'm using Google Chrome. I tried IE, but that didn't work, either.

I also completely cleared my browsing history and emptied the cache. Tried it, still ain't working. I'm not entering the full URL, and I'm not entering anything other than the names.

  8. So, in the Edit Your Profile section, there's a place where you can post your character log. Well, I would like to do this. But I have managed to consistently fail each time I try. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I know it says that you can't post the whole link, so I did post it partially the way it demonstrates, but I still can't get it to save. I get this red box at the top where it says... "Location: The data you entered exceeds maximum allowed."

I can't seem to post my character names either.

  9. Cinnabar Star darted through the streets of the Crystal Empire with her package strapped tightly to her back. She was doing a remarkable job not bowling over anypony this morning in her eagerness to deliver the mail. Her routes had not yet become routine to her yet, and there were occasions she got a little turned around, but her deliveries were never late, regardless. She passed by the tailor shop, did a sharp u-turn, and came to a screeching halt. Not even double-checking the package to make sure she had the right address, she barreled through the door. She beamed at the two ponies inside.

"SPECIAL DELIVERY!" She unstrapped the package on her back and placed it on the floor. "Miss Sapphire Shoes, I think. Or was it Miss Sapphire Styles?" The young crystal mare's face took on a puzzled look for a few seconds before she gave a shrug. "Anyway, ta-ta!" She started to rush outside but once again came to a screeching halt, as the MOST adorable dress caught her eye. Her amethyst-coloured eyes went wide in awe and admiration. She trotted over to the dress and gave a squeal. "Ooo, look at those ribbons! And the lace." The dress was far too small for a mare, however, and seemed to be more suited for a filly than anypony else. "I bet my little sissy-missy would look so cute in this."

  10. Just curious... is it too late to sign-up? I saw that you said you were willing to take one more roaster. And Moon Walker (Fire Walker's older brother) is part of the REA. And this sort of thing is right up his alley.

I never thought about giving him a rank... *LOL* My guess is he probably hasn't been terribly ambitious, especially since having a small family has probably slowed him down some. And I have trouble picturing him in a major leadership position. Maybe to balance it out, Moon Walker can be just your everyman-type soldier/guard. Or if he must be higher-ranked than that... Corporal. *lol*

  11. Tawny shifted from hoof to hoof and looked everywhere except directly at Ginger Kick. He opened his mouth to respond to her question. Then, he closed it. He looked behind his shoulder again, then up at the ceiling, and then just somewhere off to the left of the pegasus barista. He opened his mouth again and spoke. "No, I'm not lost." His shoulders tensed, and the feathers in his wings ruffled. "I'd like to order a double shot vanilla expresso, please, ma'am." He was looking at the floor now, apparently determined not to make eye contact.

  12. "mum." Tawny felt they had been walking through Ponyville for hours, even though, they had only just arrived, and it had only been a minute. She had barely told him anything about the trip, just snippets of something about his father, his aunt, and... something about a griffon? He was used to feeling lost when it came to trying to understand his mother's rambling when she was completely and utterly focused on her work.

"Carry the two... fifty volts." The frizzy-maned pegasus had a pencil in her mouth and was somehow managing to write in an open notebook carried on her hoof while hovering above the ground with her wings. Her mutterings were just barely comprehensible with the pencil in her mouth.

    "mum," Tawny tried again.

"Accounting for the average discharge of a cloud by the average force applied by a back-kick... hmm... too many variables."

"mum." Tawny suddenly cringed at the loudness of his voice and flushed slightly when a few ponies turned and stared at him.

His mother, Frizzy, suddenly noticed her son was trying to get her attention. "Yes, sweetie?"

"Are we there yet?" Tawny tried not to sound like he was whining, but it came out sounding like a whine, anyway.

"No," Frizzy said, returning to her notebook. Then, she looked up, noticing a few young fillies, colts, and a griffon with a broken wing. She beamed. "Yes!"

She put the notebook in a satchel and fluttered over to the group with Tawny dragging his hooves behind her. She frowned a little bit, noticing Wind Walker but not seeing Moon Walker, her husband. She seemed to consider this a second before smiling. She approached Wind Walker enthusiastically.

"Wind, sweetie, you're looking more and more grown-up each time I see you! I expect Moon-dear has already gone to the theater, then?"

Tawny didn't feel it was polite to interrupt his mother speaking to his young aunt, but he felt this was important. "Theater?"

"Oh!" Frizzy noticed Razor next, and she trotted towards him, taking one of his talons with her hoof and shaking vigorously. The initial contact brought a slight static shock, which was only enough to startle but not hurt. She giggled a bit at it. "So sorry. I work with lightning all day; it likes to cling." She beamed at the griffon. "Fire has been regaling my husband and I with your recent exploits. I hope your wing will get better soon. That must be dreadful; I can't possibly imagine it. Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'm Frizzy, and this is my son, Tawny." She gestured to Tawny who had the most puzzled look on his face. He started to open his mouth to say something, but Frizzy once again plowed through.

"Moon-dear told me you wouldn't mind watching Tawny and Wind here while he went to rehearsal here in Ponyville. Although, I hope he did actually ask your permission instead of just assuming like he usually does. Oh, that husband of mine, he just can't say no to anything; he couldn't say no when the theater was in need of such an important part that nobody else wanted to fill. At least this time, he's doing something he actually LOVES doing. Tonight's date night, you see. But it wouldn't be the first time we've had to delay the actual dating part. I mean, how many times have I had to delay date night because of BALL lightning! Oh-ho-ho!" She cackled at the end.

Tawny face-hoofed. His mother had to be the most embarrassing mother in all of Equestria. He looked up from his hoof. Wait. What did she just say?

"Anyway, you all have fun. Take care. Tawny, be good!" She waved at Tawny.

Tawny's jaw dropped. "Wait. I'm not..."

Frizzy turned back to Razor. The smile on her face was gone and replaced with the kind of serious look that only a mother could give. "Incidentally, if anything should happen to my son or my darling little sister-in-law, there will be no end to the storm clouds I will place over your head." There was a slight narrowing of eyes.

Then, just as soon as the warning and seriousness took place, it disappeared. She beamed at Razor, waved, and flew off in the direction of the theater. Tawny only looked defeated. He was sure his mother would explain everything to him later, probably over dinner. He gave an exasperated sigh.

  13. Tawny entered the coffee shop, in a way that suggested some hesitance. His light blue eyes darted this way and that like he was afraid he was going to be caught somewhere he wasn't supposed to be. Perhaps it was a little unusual for a young colt to be wandering around unattended, but then, judging by his satchel, it looked like he was on his way to school. It probably wasn't that far. He noticed there were a couple of ponies in line, waiting to be served. He took his place behind them and waited patiently, still casting nervous looks behind his shoulder. He noticed Lightning Dancer in front of him and blinked. He thought he recognized her but didn't want to interrupt her. He saw somepony else he thought he recognized who had just finished ordering. It was another colt, although, this one was obviously older than he was and had a cutie mark. He gave a friendly wave, hoping the colt would see him.

    post-2202-0-94378800-1371964515_thumb.jp

Moon Walker's cutie mark is a shield with a crescent moon on it. He'll never forget the night it appeared. Him and a few of his friends were participating in the rehearsal of a school play, “Rock Comet and Jewel Mane.” Sadly, Moon Walker didn't get to play any of the lead roles, but he was happy, for the most part, to be on stage. Everything was going smoothly, at first. Then, while Moon Walker was standing around (essentially being background scenery), he noticed that one of the hanging props above was coming loose. And the colt playing Rock Comet was standing right under it! He didn't have long to make a decision. If he let the prop fall, then there was a chance the colt would get hurt, and then, the starring role for Rock Comet would open up. But the colt WOULD be hurt... He didn't need a lot of time to make the decision. His wings spread without thinking, he cried out a warning (“LOOK OUT!”), and he dove for the colt, pushing him out of the way and becoming a victim to the once-hanging prop. Moon Walker ended up in the hospital for his injuries (which included a broken wing) and missed the play, but he gained his cutie mark, and tons of balloons and get well cards. Suffering from injuries was well worth it, especially since they turned out to be quite temporary.

His cutie mark is symbolic of many things about him (the fact that it's vaguely heart-shaped, for instance, represents his good heart). The shield obviously represents a talent in protecting others. Meanwhile, the crescent moon is a reminder that he doesn't have to be a star in order to be a special somepony.

History: Moon Walker comes from a long line of pegasi who have been a part of the Royal Equestrian Army and other defensive services. He's the fifth offspring of his parents, out of nine. He has seven brothers and two sisters (Fire Walker and Wind Walker). The importance of discipline, duty, and honor have been instilled in him from a young age by his father. It wasn't so much that Moon Walker felt pushed into that path; it was more like a natural conclusion, an inevitability, and he wasn't upset about it at all. Coming from a large family can be difficult, though. The fact of the matter was, there was a lot of competition for attention. So, it was only natural that Moon Walker learned early on how to attract attention. Whether he was being a class clown or finding a stage to perform, no, to ACT on, he was able to use all manner of charm, good looks, charisma, and showmanship to dazzle other ponies. Consequently, he had an abundance of friends growing up and was very popular.

Before he joined the Royal Equestrian Army, he had thought about trying to be an actor. It was something he had always dreamed of since he was a kid ever since he saw Canterlot Theatre's production of Star-Swirled the Bearded THE MUSICAL. He wasn't all bad at acting, either, despite the fact that it wasn't his special talent. Ultimately, though, the importance of discipline, duty, and honor were too great a call for him to ignore. The dream still remained, but it was put on the back-burner.

Not long after rigorous training in boot camp, Moon Walker found love. But first, he found a sketchbook full of equations, diagrams, and detailed pictures of clouds and aerodynamic positions. He happened upon it entirely by accident while visiting a few of his Pegasus friends in Cloudsdale for lunch. Naturally, he didn't understand a single thing in the sketchbook (except that the clouds were, indeed, clouds), but it looked important, and surely, someone was looking for it. Bound by honor, Moon Walker searched for the owner of the notebook, questioning other Pegasi about its contents in hopes of gleaning a clue as to how to find the owner. Someone eventually told him that someone in the weather factory would probably be able to make sense of it. And so, he went to the weather factory to talk with pegasi there.

His long search was rewarded when the owner of the notebook, a mare with a frizzy mane and tail, approached him, expressing a lot of gratitude for returning the sketchbook. They looked into each other's eyes, and both felt electricity sparking between them. Literally. It seemed the mare had left some lightning unattended, and poor Moon Walker got the worst of it. But when he awoke in the hospital and saw her there by his bedside, somehow, it made everything all right. Her name was Frizzy, and he had fallen in love with her.

Several dates in the span of two years later, they were married. And sometime after that, Moon Walker's wife gave birth to a wonderful foal. They named him Tawny. Becoming a father was definitely one of the happiest moments in his life. Unfortunately, Moon Walker has never been able to spend as much time with his family as he would like. He often feels torn between the duties of a Royal Equestrian Guard and duties to his family. It pains him, sometimes, when he thinks about his son and comes up with questions that he should know the answer, too. First, he missed his son's first flight, then his first words. Then, he didn't know what Tawny's favorite food was. Then, he didn't know his favorite colour. What Tawny liked to do. It seemed everytime he discovered the answer to one question about his son, he found more, and it disheartened him when he thought about how often he was away from his family. The dream he had about being an actor has faded into relative obscurity in his mind, now. Now, what he really wants to be is Dad.

Character Summary: Moon Walker's talent lies in his ability to protect, to honor, and to serve. Beyond that, he is decent at impressionism, comedy, and acting (though, he can at times be a little too cheesy and hammy in his acting). His goals and motivations have shifted over the years, but his most current goal is to find a way to spend more time with his family without neglecting his responsibilities with the Royal Equestrian Army.

Because of his experience in the REA, Moon Walker has developed two ways of relating with other ponies. There's REA-style, in which he is direct, focused, vigilant, and no-nonsense. Then, there's his style, which is easy-going, light-hearted, friendly, and somewhat clown-ish. Occasionally, there is overlap between the two; it's especially notable when he's about to do something heroic off-duty or when he is worried about something.

Sometimes, he has a hard time prioritizing certain tasks. When somepony or something needs rescued, it is near impossible for him NOT to drop everything and get involved. While he can prioritize rescue scenarios (obviously, a pony that is in mortal danger needs more assistance than a pony that is wandering around lost) and follow direct orders, he can't prioritize something like an important meeting versus, say, a cat stuck in a tree. Inevitably, he will be late for the meeting in order to rescue the cat.

Moon Walker is a natural at making friends because of how very likeable he is, but keeping long-term friends might be a different story. Even before he joined the REA, Moon Walker has never been particularly good at expressing his feelings or affection for others. It isn't that he doesn't care; it's just that he's a little bit dense in that area and automatically assumes that ponies know he cares very much about them. So, he never takes the time to reaffirm that fact to other ponies. This is especially evident if he sees somepony he knows that he hasn't seen in a while. He acts as if they'd been with him the whole time, instead of expressing exuberance about their presence.

Moon Walker has a vain side to him due to spending a bit more than incidental time keeping up with his appearance (getting his coat, mane, and tail groomed, polishing his armor, ensuring that he stays in excellent shape despite harboring a deep love for donuts). This has resulted in some self-consciousness. Not about his appearance, he's certain he is one great-looking stallion. It's more that he's self-conscious about his vanity and tries to hide the fact that he's checking himself out in a mirror or spending too much time on his mane and outright denying that he uses any mane products in his mane whatsoever.
