Bowling! Cranky Doodle Donkey's ears perked and so did his spirit. This pony was curious about one of his favorite hobbies! He did still need members for his bowling team, and perhaps this pony would be interested! [colour=#696969]"It's sort of funny you should ask, kid. I love bowling, it's one of my favorite hobbies. Have you really never been bowling before? Well, I'll take you to the alley."[/colour] Cranky began to walk towards the bowling alley, which was not far away, and he explained to Mended Heart what bowling was. [colour=#696969]"You see, they give you a ball that's sort of heavy and you roll it down a long stretch of floor called a lane. The object of the game is to try to knock pins over."[/colour] Cranky frowned, realizing how strange bowling really sounded. [colour=#696969]"You'll see when we get there."[/colour]

[colour=#696969]"I used to live in Canterlot," [/colour]Cranky reminisced,[colour=#696969] "I washed windows for an entire year. You see, the love of my life took off one day and I spent my whole life looking for her. I finally found her in Ponyville, too. It was an incredibly lucky coincidence."[/colour] Now that Cranky had told his story, he felt a bit embarrassed. Did telling that story make him look stupid? Heidi looked once more at her companions and sighed. The wealthy business-pony she was working for had not wanted her to reveal his identity for privacy reasons. He was quite famous and rich, and simply needed a little bit of help. Heidi didn't understand how that warranted all the negativity she was receiving but she was already tired of it. She was especially tired of Gilda's ever-present groaning. [colour=#8b4513]"I'll certainly have it my way, Miss Gilda, or no way at all. Additionally, I don't believe my ego is the one that needs improvement. As for your question, we ARE stealing it. Why else would he hire a group of highly skilled griffons to travel into Diamond Dog territory? And why would the Diamond Dogs just let us take precious gems?"[/colour] Heidi growled, trying her hardest to stay patient. She turned to Falco Kestrelson next, finding him a lot easier to deal with than Gilda. [colour=#8b4513]"I understand, Mr. Kestrelson. Don't worry, I'm a trained professional and I'm here to take care of any injuries. Mentally AND physically."[/colour] Hearing Miasma speak, Heidi grinned. She felt as though someone finally understood, it wasn't about the task or the trials. It was about the money. Who cared if their employer was stuck up or not, he was still paying them! She turned to all of the griffons, boarding the train as she spoke, and replied to their primary question. [colour=#8b4513]"Our employer wishes to remain anonymous for now because he is very wealthy and very famous. He doesn't want to raise any sort of media attention. But don't worry, he's very reliable and will reveal himself in time. Our money is safely guarded, and will be delivered to us once we provide him with the Black Opal. He cannot get the gem himself because of his status, so he employed us griffons. The Diamond Dogs have wonderful noses, but this opal is buried deep beneath the rock and has not been detected by their noses yet. It has only been found by a geologist. You see, my friends, our talons and beaks are hard enough to scrape through the rock the gems are hidden in and our wings can fly us out of any bad situations. Any more questions?"[/colour] Heidi looked from face to face, hoping they could simply board the train.

Strawberry cherry?! Were they crazy?! Pinkie Pie definitely screamed cherry chip vanilla! Or maybe even chocolate fudge! However, that didn't seem colourful enough. Twist really wanted some cupcakes. Mostly, though, she really wanted to bake. As Pinkie Pie waved at her, Twist waved back and smiled cheerfully. [colour=#ff0000]"Hi, Pinkie Pie! That'th right! I'm a friend of Rarity'th little thithter, Applejack'th little thithter, and....I'm not sure where Thcootaloo came from, actually..."[/colour] Twist contemplated for a second. Had the orange filly told her sometime? Had she simply forgotten? Or was it a legitimate mystery? Whichever way, Twist was super duper happy to be recognized! Especially by Pinkie Pie, who she greatly admired for her excellent baking skills! Suddenly, Twist was lifted off the ground and her glasses fell off promptly. She squinted, the blurriness of her vision quite alarming in all actuality. She flailed her legs and wiggled as best she could to get out of Pinkie Pie's arms. [colour=#ff0000]"Wait a thecond, Pinkie Pie! My glatheth dropped on the ground thomewhere!"[/colour] Deciding to clarify suddenly, because she didn't want to make a bad impression, she added, [colour=#ff0000]"I want to go thtill though, jutht let me grab my glatheth! And did you thay thomething about coffee? I love coffee! I had thome at the mareth offith when I went with Cranky Doodle Donkey and Thplit Pinth! By the way, doeth anypony want to join my bowling team?"[/colour] Twist stopped, feeling a sneeze quickly come on. Hopefully Pinkie Pie put her down soon!

Well THAT certainly didn't take long. Thanks universe! Cranky thought, wondering how he could be so lucky at times and so unlucky at other times. For example, he had missed Matilda's note and travelled for years and years before finding her again. Then, at just the right time, a friend had shown up! Cranky looked the pony over, and smiled at her as best as he could. She seemed nice, and was simply asking to be shown around. [colour=#696969]"Mended Heart, eh? I'm Cranky. I uh... that's actually my name. I don't always have the best mood, but Cranky is my name..."[/colour] Cranky sighed, rolling his eyes, [colour=#696969]"I'm still not sure what my parents were thinking. And yes, I live here. Are you new to town? Let me let you in on something quick, kid, there's this crazy pink mare who adores new people and will go nuts if she sees ya. It may be best to stick with me, kid."[/colour]

[colour=#696969]"Watch it!"[/colour] Cranky Doodle Donkey growled as a reckless filly on a scooter whipped past him and nearly knocked him over. He shook his head in distaste, but felt the wind begin to shake his toupe free. He remembered with embarrassment how everypony in Ponyville knew that he was really, really bald. But was that all they knew about Cranky? Most likely. Cranky Doodle Donkey didn't seem approachable, fun, or interesting to any of the ponies in Ponyville. He did, however, have a solution to this problem. Cranky would need to make friends! Wandering through town square, Cranky scanned the bunches of ponies all around him. Some looked very interesting, and he was excited to meet somepony. Life was nice enough with just Pinkie and Matilda, but Cranky knew that Pinkie Pie was right about his lack of friends. If only someone would introduce themselves...

Gilda was driving her slightly batty, but she'd give the griffoness a few chances before judging her character. Perhaps it was just a bad day for her, and that much Heidi could forgive. We're going into the territory of the Diamond Dogs because there is said to be opal lined inside of canyons near where they live and they will help us get them cracked open. Any more questions?"[/colour] Heidiara was trained to remain to stay cool in difficult situations, but she suddenly realized how frustrating this journey would be and sighed. Hopefully she would still get along with the other griffons.

Twist had been completely lost in thought for a few minutes, spaced out beyond repair. When she finally snapped back to reality and stopped thinking about food, she heard discussion about cupcakes. Twist grinned, excited to hear that kind of conversation. She loved eating and baking cupcakes more than almost anything in the world! She looked around and noticed that the bugs appeared a lot more calm than they were. She was also not behind Trekker's force field, but the bugs didn't seem to mind her presence That was a good sign, considering that Twist really wanted to get a pet through these bugs. It was great Very touching, fantastic animation. Snowdrop was a bit of a Mary Sue, and yeah, it was pretty cliche. Nonetheless, I actually cried when that last snowflake fell. So I wont completely discount it, it was very nice.
