  1. Presteza had managed to finally visit the crystal empire on her travels. She still had quite a bit to see on the road and lot of styles she needed to master. Despite the mare's fairly consistent upbeat attitude and the presence of a certain flying companion who had taken to hanging from the brim of her hat, Presteza had been feeling a bit lonely. Her faithful Chiropteran companion may be nice company but he wasn't always the most stimulating of conversation. Upon entering the gates of the Crystal empire she was expecting to be greeted by maybe one or two decent crystal pony folk, but it seemed a paper had beaten them to the punch and promptly collided with her face. Pulling the paper off and pinning it to the ground under her hooves she looked at the first column that drew her eye. The princess ran an advice column? This could certainly be an interesting development. Galloping to the nearest inn and buying a room for the coming weeks as per usual she found a quill and paper. Taking the Quill in her teeth she began to write down her letter. Her hoof- or in this case toothwriting was a bit sloppy but still legible. "Dear Cady, I have been traveling the roads on my own for a long time now on my own. My pet Fruitbat, Fresco is a sweetheart and smart as a whip but he's not much in the way of conversation. I've met quite a few nice stallions ... and mares but I never bother trying to pursue a relationship with any of them because as I said I'm on the road almost constantly and remaining stationery is not an option for me, at least not yet. Lately I have also found some stallions when I visit someplace try to give me flowers. This usually ends badly for them and leaves me mostly-okay entirely- embarrassed because I have allergies to pollen and my magic can surge and/or misfire when I sneeze. Do you have any ideas on how I could get stallions to let up on that and I'd honestly prefer not having to wear a sign around whenever I enter a town. Equestria's soon to be greatest painter, Presteza Ps, Could I please pain't you sometime? I think you'd make an awesome model! "
  2. The mare's head hung and she reflexively shut her eyes as she heard the princess approaching her, what was she going to say now? was she going to have any of the Trottingham mare's art from ever reaching a gallery? Was she going to tell her to give up on ever painting anypony ever again? She could only grit her teeth she listened for what she was sure going to be the last nail in the coffin for her hopes. The mare's eyes opened and blinked a few times in surprise,"W-wait...wot?... uh..." She was dumbfounded for a few seconds but eventually she slowly pieced what was happening together. She had to admit, the princess had gotten her good. She also had to admit her pride felt a bit bruised so she put on a slightly tough facade with a smile as she wiped something away from her eyes,"W-Wow Princess! ya definitely got me good... I wasn' cryin' though!" The mare chuckled a bit at the prince,"She mustn't be tha' bad since you decided ta help 'er out!" she retorted in a slightly playful tone. Presteza effectively lit up, a grin plastered upon her face. It may be a small favor but the fact that princess was willing to do anything for her was incredible! The mare bowed deeply to the princess of the sun,"Thanks so much, yer highness! Do ya mind if I ask ya few questions about what kinda painting you'd like done in advance? how would ya like the overall feel o' the piece? I guess wot I mean ta ask is if ya want ta pose in a way that showcases aspects of you? I could do a painting that showcases yer power, perhaps yer authority, or maybe even your... uh allure. Anyway This is so bloody excitin' and so awesome! is there any kinda canvas ya'd like me ta use?" the mare's speech was going a mile a minute, with each word it seemed like a miracle she was able to keep up this line of questioning seeing as she didn't stop to take a breath in her extreme excitement.
  3. With the recent approval of Ambertome I have now mark her as ready!
  4. The prince's words... didn't help. Each singular word made her wince like she was receiving a sharp jab in the side. She sincerely wished she hadn't eaten her hat previously cause now she could really use it as she always would during the moments she felt vulnerable; during such times she would usually either lower or push the brim of her hat to cover her expression. All she had at her disposal now was her bangs which only covered one eye so instead of even trying to keep eye contact with the prince she just kept her eyes glued to the ground and stared at her hooves. "Ri-right... sorry ta have bothered you, yer highnesses..." her voice was very unsteady sounding like she was trying to keep herself from crying. She took a deep breath and pushed the vibrant blue scarf she wore with a hoof and brushed it under one of her eyes as if to wipe something away. Back in her mind the mare was already trying to figure what she would do now if things were going so far south so soon in her travels across the world. "If I can't paint the princesses than none o' this is gonna feel like it's got any point... I guess I can still try and paint some o' the historical sites an' stuff. If I go back home I guess I could still paint sometime but wot the hay else am I gonna do? I can't use magic on anythin' but my brushes without messin' it up somehow..." With each thought the mare seemed to almost sink further and further into her little slump as she piled on various thoughts on what she would do with herself.
  5. The painter chuckled a bit wryly,"Well I'm stuck with buckin' stuff .. my horns only good fer messin' up and levitatin' these brushes o' mine." the mare with a sort of empty pride before poking a hoof to her horn and sighing. "As fer uh... bein' ... uh cognizant o' my abilities and limitations... I don' really know 'em, I jus' stick ta my painting." she said before walking over to a nearby tree and giving it a powerful kick and waiting as an apple feel from one of it's branches. Rearing up on her hindlegs she caught the apple in her teeth and began to munch away and chuckling,"No' bad... nowhere near as good as one o' the apple families apples, but decent. Want one?" she asked before carefully placing her hat back on her head to shield her eyes from the sun once more.
  6. Welcome to canterlot! I'm sure you'll have an awesome time!
  7. good ... I'm just waiting on AMbertome to be approved before i mark it as ready
  8. "Normally I'm jus' focused on what I love about painting in general, spells are usually the farthest from my mind. " The mare thought a moment before giving a shrug,"'sides Like I said I been doin' that since I was a foal and I probably wouldn't 'ave been too focused on it then." Most of what Asteria said had pretty much flown way over the Trottingham pony's head. Presteza, while she had been given an excellent education was not the most articulate or well read. She had pretty much left her thoughts on any magical theory back at the study in her parents manor when she went traveling to hone her skills as a painter. The silvery maned mare shuffled a bit in place and gave slightly awkward smile,"Oh you do alot o' runnin' too? I'm pretty fast myself... plus I'm pretty good at buckin' trees" the mare gave a more genuine smile before bucking the the air behind her, showing very good form and energy for such and activity.
  9. The Prince's coughing fit snapped the mare out of her own little trance in which she was chiding herself profusely. A small smile creased her lips as she saw blueblood's momentary embarassed expression,"No need ta look so embarassed yer highness... Like my parents used ta say ta me back at the manor: Even nobles have gotta breath right, dun' they?" she said in a slightly playful tone,"But anyway I'd be happy ta paint somethin' for ya someti--" The golden tan mare practically shrunk as she heard the words of the princess. She had royally (no pun intended) messed up now! Here face practically fell as each word was uttered, her ears falling as well and going flat as Celestia finished her reprimand. Immediately she turned to the princess looking an odd mix of frantic and remorseful,"I-I;m so sorry, Princess please fergive me!...I-I guess there really isn't an excuse for that... I-I just was really eager ta meet ya and well you're even more awesome up close is all!" she said with her words speeding up near the end before sher sadly turned back to the line and hung her head sadly with her long blue scarf dragging on the ground... In her head the young artist from Trottingham was once again chastising herself in her head, "Good goin' ,Pressy. I hope yer proud o' yerself, ya ruined any chances you had of painting any of the princesses now. Now you'll never get to paint the princess of the night , love, sun , or magic... not once in your life..."
  10. The mare chuckled a bit,"Well that's kind of a problem... since every time I sneeze I wind up casting a spell, It's been happenin' ta me since I was a foal." she said with a slightly embarrassed grin. "So sneezin' as much as possible might be ... problematic, y'know? Like I said though sittin' next to a bed o' daisies wasn't my best idea... but the perspective from there was so great..." the mare hung her head sadly before sighing. Hearing Asteria ask about her hat she perked up a bit. The hat, while not the original, had quite a few happy memories attached to it,"Oh well ta be honest it was supposed ta be a sunhat like my teacher used to wear but i kept messing it up and wound up turning it into this! One day I'm gonna get it right though!" With that the mare puffed her chest out slightly in pride of what she was sure was going to be a future accomplishment,"Oh? yer a traveler too?"
  11. her history wont really be altered so much as expanded upon when it comes to her magical potential. also here i can expand uponhow she defends herself
  12. The mare laughed a bit as her brush was levitated towards her, blushing slightly as she noticed the indentation in the tree nearby. "Hehe... I guess tha's wot I get fer painting near a bed o' daisies. Sorry about that, Miss Asteria." said the mare with one last faint sniffle before enveloping her brush in her own aura and placing it in her bag. Her odd tone and overly calm expression was a bit unusual in the young painter's mind, "Oh uh... I'm Presteza, my friends call me Pressy though" The mare took a moment and pushed the odd conical hat she wore off her head with her hooves and let it hang by it's string off of her neck. With her hat gone Asteria could get a good look at the seemingly magically inept painter, her mane was silvery white and long, with several locks of it having some small rings around them that gave her mane a sort of paintbrush motif as the ends of her mane seemed to have been died a faint grey. Her eyes, or at least the one that was visible to Asteria were a bright icy blue that seemed to have an unusual vigor behind them.
  13. Roleplay Type: Canterlot Chronicles Name: Presteza Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Unicorn Eye Colour: Icy blue Coat: A yellowish tan Mane: Slightly over medium length, wavy and unkempt, Bangs Cover her left eye, back/lower portion of her mane kept in a for lack of a better term a low ponytail held by three bands and the ends of which looking as if dipped in paint or ink and giving it a paintbrush look. Tail: Long, slightly wavy, and unkempt with the end having a similar dipped in paint look as her mane although without the bands. Physique: Has a fairly normal build for a mare but has a bit more strength in her than a typical unicorn.Often wears a blue scarf. Residence: Has no permanent residence due to her constant travels. Occupation: Wandering painter and adventurer Cutie mark: A magical swirl surrounding a normal looking paintbrush, melding with the brush around its ferrule. As a filly Presteza was constantly looking at pictures and paintings, spending most of her time in her art class in the high class school her parents sent her to, despite this she was too afraid to try it herself because of her inability to use telekinesis like other unicorns and her love of painting details wasn't sated with only the use of her hooves or her teeth. Often finding herself fascinated with the paintings of professional art ponies she would often sneak out to buy book depicting many beautiful painting that would bring multitudes of emotion from her. On one particular walk an older mare Calling herself Atelier approached her and asked if she could paint a portrait of the filly, having heard of her family and hoping to paint one of them. She hesitantly agreed and after a few more visits with her new friend and eventually opened up to her, telling her of her magical problems and her fascination with the arts. The kind-hearted artist gave her portrait she made of her young friend and the filly spent a great deal of her private time admiring the painting for the brushwork she was learning about in her time with her friend. One day when they visited the local park Atelier asked her if she wanted to paint this place, after a few moments of stuttering objections she was finally persuaded. The first attempt was a clumsy affair using her hooves, the second attempt was only somewhat better while using her mouth and teeth to hold the brush, but the final product still looked off. Nearing the point of giving up her friend suggested using her telekinesis and thinking of all the she loves about paintings, she was hesitant; she could barely hold a piece of paper aloft with telekinesis. It took a bit more nudging from her friend, but eventually she tried. Concentrating her hardest she lifted the paintbrush up, engulfing it in her magical aura and with a great deal of focus on her painting. She produced a beautiful scenic painting of the park, with everypony in the background and foreground of her vision detailed nearly perfectly, as the crowds gathered she felt an undeniable sense of pride welling up within her and with that she gained her mark. Unique traits: As a mare descending from a long line of professional spellcasters, Presteza has an extraordinary amount of magical power and potential that she is both unaware of... and probably wouldn't care about as she prefers sticking to her painting. Her upbringing where she had quite a great deal of expectations placed on her by her parents has resulted in a great deal of self doubt that interferes with her magic to the point she is unable to perform basic telekinesis if she even doubts herself a little. Her painting is an exception because she feels truly at piece and doesn't feel any anxiety or stress building up on her when she is levitating her brush and if she is in immediate danger and is sufficeintly focused she can show magical aptitude that lives up to her pedigree. Since gaining her cutie mark she has learned that she is capable of using magic normally but has found she is only capable of casting and regulating her magic by using her favorite paintbrush as a conduit for it. If her brush is knocked away from her her magic becomes unreliable and difficult to control if she tries to cast anything in the normal fashion. While so far the only spells she has learned how to cast are majorly wind oriented she is fully capable of learning how to channel other spells and applying them in her own unique method. A list of spells can use: A spell that dashed her in her chosen direction at a great speed, can easily be mistaken for a short range teleport but is incapable of going through any kind of matter. Simple frontal barrier spell. can be melded with her wind magic to surround herself in a whirlwind. Cloudwalking spell that is applied by channeling her magic into her brush and painting a horseshoe pattern on her hooves magically enlarges and hardens her paintbrush to use as a makeshift staff can summon a small ball of light that hovers above her and functions as a lantern Can "paint" magical moving images in her likeness that can serve as decoys A powerful but thin blast of wind capable of cutting through stone Character History: Presteza was born in Trottingham to a pair of rich, Noble pony unicorns: a stallion named Astral dusk and mare named Mythic shine both having come from a line of talent magic using unicorns. The foal was named for showing how quickly she could take to something, usually solving an toys that her parents bought her that required creativity or a quick wit in a flash. Life for the Filly growing up was somewhat uncomfortable, Time taken up by a great deal of magical studies that she always failed at and other portions of life being taken to fancy parties all dolled up. Her lack of patience for these things were often chided by her parents, but she never found any of this “Fancy stuff” to her liking. When her parents listened to classical music, she was listening to Jazzy types of music and excessively lively and passionate sounding beats she could dance to. When her aunts and uncles loved the lavish parties and dressing up, She found it dull and preferred to play outside even in the rain. Most problematic of all was her inability to control her own very potent magic to the point where her sneezing would make her accidentally cast the latest spell she'd learned of albeit on an often smaller scale. Upon gaining her Cutie mark as a filly she was nervous about telling her parents about it, while naturally they weren't exactly thrilled especially seeing as they were going to have to cancel her application to the school for talented in unicorns in Canterlot in the hopes they could help her learn to control her magic, but they still loved their daughter and did what they could to support her but not having her live up to her own notable magic potential still seemed like a waste. Having read about all the wonderful, beautiful , and fascinating things and scenes in Equestria she decided she wanted to travel and see and paint as many of them as she could. Traveling alone in the world was obviously not the safest thing for a filly her age to do so they sent her brother to watch over her until she was old enough to travel alone. Life with her big brother, Silverheart on the road was at first pretty tense. Her big brother originally intending to apply for the royal guard but this sudden request from his parents to watch over his little sister until she was a mare was a rather notable setback. Silverheart and Presteza's personalities would often clash, especially at the start where Silverheart seemed distant and almost rushing the filly from place to place. Silverheart was much more calm and cool headed than his sister and preferred thought to action while Presteza would leap into a situation without thinking. The Most trying moment of their travels was when they traveled to the cold northern mountains bordering the crystal kingdom and in presteza's excitement she got lost in a snowstorm while trying to find the best place to paint the mountain peaks. It took almost an entire day for Silverheart to find her and it felt almost an eternity for the frightened and freezing filly who managed to find shelter in a cave. Silverheart was almost entirely sure she'd just yell at him for letting her get lost, but instead she threw herself into him and sobbed in relief into her brother. It was going to be a long while before the snowstorm let up and Presteza seemed to be catching a cold... not that she was willing to admit after having cried into her brother. The increasing number of her magical sneezes were becoming an issue though and Silverheart didn't want the fire he made to go out, but most importantly he didn't want his sister to freeze so he gave her his blue scarf. After a night where the filly slept peacefully against the stallion the storm had finally cleared and things they returned to their routine. Presteza painted the mountains but it seemed Silverheart didn't rush her at all, he just watched smiling a short smile as the filly painted away. While the hardships and adventures they endured in Equestria were often quite difficult, their time in the mountains had been both their scariest adventure and the day they'd been closest. Once having reached Mare-hood Presteza bid her brother a sad goodbye at a train station in Dodge city, as she started to leave before she noticed a familiar looking garment being levitated lightly around her neck. It was her brother's scarf he lent her in the mountains, a small note on it saying she'd probably forget to try and keep warm without it. Before she could give it back the train was already leaving and Silverheart was waving goodbye from the caboose. Presteza went on and intends to go to even more fascinating (and sometimes dangerous) places. She sends paintings of her adventures back to her family as well as a few letters to her family every month. Character Summary: Presteza's Talent's extend to painting in various styles including but not limited to Acrylic, watercolor, and Oil and is capable producing incredibly detailed and high quality works very quickly and also being able to channel magic through her paintbrush. She has a fairly nice singing voice that can be heard if she thinks she's alone and wishes to liven up a lonely and quiet trip. Because of her problems using telekinesis and reluctance to use magic unless to defend herself in a tight spot she has taken to and developed an affinity for doing things the earth pony way, often using her teeth and/or hooves to hold objects. Her favorite benefit to this method is that it has made almost as strong as an earth pony is so tasks that require lots of physical aptitude aren't as big a deal for her. While she has mostly gotten control of any magical misfiring she still has issues with controlling her magic when she sneezes and as a result steers clear of daisies which she is allergic to. Ever since she discovered her talent one dream has been on her mind every day and night; To be the greatest painter in Equestria and travel outside of it and paint all the beautiful and wonderful things she finds and bring them back to show everypony what some of them may never get to see. Her love of travel was mostly kindled by the stories she read as a foal of Saddle Arabia and of the homelands of the Zebras. Because she wanted to do more than just see what the world beyond Equestria was like she wanted to experience it for herself she often tries to do so before she paints target, a good example would be when she volunteered for a few weeks on a farm so she could understand how farming ponies did and felt about their livelihood. Presteza has boundless enthusiasm and love for all forms of artistic expression whether it be within her abilities or not and often takes time to watch performers or musicians work when she gets the chance or has the bits. She loves many types of music but has a strong preference for music that can be danced to or make a pony feel happy to be alive. Around other ponies she shows a bit of a tomboyish nature with tendency to become somewhat boisterous if her abilities are praised and can get rather depressed if somepony says it's not good enough, whereupon she will often obsess over making the painting better. Presteza gets along best with other artists and good natured ponies, however because of her trouble with the life of the upper class she often has problems with ponies who think they are better than others because of their upbringing. Despite her time on the road and experiences traveling she still shows signs of her sheltered upbringing with being rather gullible and easily manipulated, especially if her ego is pandered to, some of her other faults would be her natural lack of patience and near inability to stay still unless in an emergency... and even then it's pretty hard for her, She also has a habit of getting so engrossed in her work that she forgets to eat luckily she makes her characteristic straw hat that not only shields her from the sun, it makes for a handy snack and is easily replaceable. The items she finds most valuable are the Scarf given to her by her brother and the paintbrush Atelier gave her to paint her first landscape. Thanks to a bit of training from her big brother in the REA and her own physical aptitude from a life of doing things the earth pony way she is a competent combatant when it comes to fighting physically. While she prefers to stick to the normal method of fighting against threats she is has learned to use her unique method of casting to channel spells that can greatly help her in combat. While she does indeed possess great magical power she has little notice of it and even then because of a lifetime of heavy expectations has a great deal of self-doubt in the subject of traditional magic casting. Her magical performance and how well she applies her magic often depends on her mental state, such as if she is in a state of focus and concentration she is capable of performing exceptionally well. If she is depressed or doubting herself in some way her magic seems to barely function at all. Her normal state in a fight however could be described as confident and playful, often making playful remarks at her opponents(s) to convince them (and herself) that she is much better than she lets and is just teasing them. Her typical strategy is to use her wind abilities to dash and speed and jump around her opponents and either blow them away with powerful blasts of wind of varying intensity or surround herself in a barrier spell and then ram into her assailant. Portrait:
  14. A few yards away from the park exit was a young mare who sat in front of an easel and canvas beside a bed of flowers. Her horn was lit up and showing a bright, icy blue aura that also engulfed her paint brush which was painting out a lovely landscape of the park... although every once in a while she would pause and her muzzle would scrunch up. upon closer inspection the mare's eyes were slightly cheery and as she painted she would stop to wipe her eyes. "Ah..." soon she stopped completely as that quick shallow breath escaped her and her eyes drifted closed, her jaws hanging open. "Ah..." her horn soon shined brightly and her paintbrush bobbed around in midair as if it was held by a string. "Ah... Ah-tchiew!" the mare let out a sneeze and her horn burst a bright blue light and her brush shot away and tore a hole through her canvas and shot past Asteria like an arrow and then slammed into a tree and left a mark on one of the poor tree's trunk before falling into a bush. Presteza hung her head and rubbed her hoof against her nose with a sigh, her hat's brim hiding her annoyed and sadden eyes as she looked up and kicked the easel down and pushed it over to a trashcan muttering,"Bloody hay... that's the third one taday..." she said with a sniffle before taking each piece of her now demolished easel and canvas and jammed them into the can. Heading over to the area she was sure the paintbrush flew she saw a mare attempting to leave,"Oi! ma'am wait a sec... um did ya see a uh... a paintbrush fly by here?" she said with a slightly embarrassed smirk.

  17. Thinking if I should make an OOC thread for my "Aftermath of a failed invasion" thread...

  18. Welcome to canterlot! I'm sure you'll have an awesome time here!
  19. Nice to meet you I'm sure you'll have a great time here!
  20. Pressy gave a worried look at her friend and nodded warily,"if yer sure..." The unicorn slowly went up the stair, every couple moments taking a chance to check up on Rusty. She noticed a few new pictures on the wall and a newspaper in the corner that gave her pause. "seems it's not just yer head tha's gone through some changes."
  21. hm wow... so many interesting characters to interact with! I'd be interested in seeing how a leave might play out anyone have an idea where they'd like it to go?
  22. nice to meet you shadow! I play as an equestrianized changeling! if you play exclusively as a changeling you'll likely be most at home in canterlotchronicles^_^
  23. I had considered your bootcamp thread and saw you had an instructor spot open but i wasnt sure how well he'd do with that job I also wasnt sure how he'd land that position since he's only an officer and pretty new.... also i noticed the army ball thread is pretty dead for the time being. All your ideas sound very good though!
  24. ummm... hi! I've noticed a bit of a lack of activity in REA members and Well I kinda wanna see what kinda shenanigans/ adventures some members of REA can get into so I was hoping to use this thread to brainstorm some ideas for an roleplay thread! If possible please tell a bit about your REA character and what he or she is like when interacting with other ponies in the REA. Since I'm the one who started this idea I figure it's only right i tell about my REA OC first. My current REA character is a unicorn named Silverheart. He's a rather marish looking stallion with some noticeable neat freak tendencies and while he has a good heart he often works to keep other members of Guard in line and values order and neatness to a great degree. While he has only joined recently he has high hopes for his career and wishes to command his own ponies one day. for more info I shall link everyone his app below and feel free to check My OC log for additional info on him. http://www.canterlot.com/topic/16687-silverheart-ready/#entry395136 I've yet to decide whether this will be Set in CC or WOE yet though but im leaning toward CC cause it opens up possibilities in my opinion.
