I love mute characters, but they can be difficult if they don't write things out (and if they do, it's kinda almost the same as talking to us, since we 'write' out what they're saying anyway). If you're planning to make them communicate by showing rather than telling or writing and just using charades, that might be a cool challenge!

I could see a mute unicorn using his or her's magic to 'write' in the air..Messages..pictures...want someone's attention? Draw a big arrow at 'em!

i agree with tacobob if i was to do something like a muted unicorn i would make the pony tell with pictures and things of that nature
