1. EqD is not a bad news source, IMO, but they often post rumors as news stories. People start bombarding them with emails when some new "OMG THE FANDOM IS ENDING" rumor comes up, and they feel the need to make an article about it. There is a segment of the brony fandom that are still 4-Chan-ish trolls, and love to start rumors and watch the panic.
2. Hmm, where have I seen this character before? He seems so familiar... (FYI: Inkwell used a version of this character in a Fallout: Equestria RP)
3. Hey Conor, I'm going over your app, and need to suggest some changes. Firstly, as far as Mane RP goes, the Royal Guard is just a part of the Royal Equestrian Army (REA). Any pony wanting to be a Royal Guard would first need to be enlisted in the REA first, then be stationed in the guard. Also, currently there isn't an "Academy" for the the REA, just an Enlistment process. If you want to re-write the character to be an REA trainee in Canterlot, we can work forward from there.
4. Bonfire backed off a bit when addressed by the Captain, but his eyes remained locked on the colt in the cell. If he were calmer, Bonfire might have realized that calling Tick a changeling was a bit silly; there was not much love to absorb as an Army recruit after all. But thinking back to the day of the invasion just made his temper boil in an instant. The Guard and the army units in the city had been overwhelmed by the assault, and were handed an embarrassing defeat at the hooves of the changelings. All their preparations after the threat had become known were for nothing. If it hadn't been for the Captain here, the Canterlot might still be under their control. However, Bonfire's outburst did seem to have an effect; Tick had admitted that a pony inside the palace had helped him. That admission shifted Bonfire's anger away from the colt and back to the ponies under his command. He'd already grilled the Guards who had been on duty last night, and none of them had given any hint of this. Tick had said that he'd tricked the ponies by changing the clocks. The guards knew better than to leave their post until relieved though, no matter what the clock said. Maybe this 'cousin' had relieved the watch to get Tick inside? Still focused on the colt in the cell, Bonfire growled out "I need a name, Private. Who helped you slip in here? I need to have a conversation with this cousin of yours..."
5. I'm very sorry for the delay on this Nexar, I've been distracted during the holidays. Everything looks good to me, but one of our Senior RP Helpers will need to take a look at this and see if anything else needs to be changed or added.
6. Updated my very out-of-date log and improved the look a bit.
7. Hi Nexar! I've been looking over your application. First some minor editing details: Technically, it should be 'pony' and not 'person,' but that's just a minor detail. This sentence is kind of confusing, should probably just be shortened to "Young Mare" A bit of a run-on sentence here. You should probably break this in two. Something like this: "In addition, she liked the look of uniforms, on stallions as well as on herself, and so she applied for the REA. For a year, she trained with the so-called AvRec, short for Aviation Reconnaissance."I've noticed a common typo throughout the application; you use 'tought' instead of 'thought'. A quick find and replace in a word processor program should fix all the errors quickly. Once that nit-picky stuff is out of the way, we'll see about sending your application to the next step!
8. All that above said, great episode. The link I had was ON the Hub's site. No hacking involved, someone probably just put it up too early.
9. Yeah, it's not like Autumn is in your signature pic or anything....
10. My first game system was a Sears Arcade. That's an Atari 2600 with the Sears name on it. Still have it too, and it still works, (even though some of the wires were chewed on by a pet rabbit we had.) I also had an Atari XE, which was kind of a half breed of a game console and a computer (Yes, Atari made actual computers at one point.) I still have a working NES (But I stupidly got rid of most of the games I had), and a Game Cube with the Game Boy attachment. I also have a collection of Game Boys: the original, a Game Boy colour, a Game Boy Advance, and 2 GB Advance SPs. I did at one point have a Super Nintendo, but it and all the games I had were stolen.
11. Fluttershy let out a scream as the ground erupted beneath their hooves. Instinctively, she shot into the air as the ground beneath her crumbled. But when she looked back down, her wings locked and snapped back to her sides. She dropped into a bush that cushioned her fall, but she found herself at the base of several of the...things that were now rising out of the holes they had made. The creatures were like nothing she'd ever seen, like big earthworms, but with mouths that were now reaching for her and her friends. Fluttershy began scooting backward away from the creatures while still sitting on her haunches. That is, until she bumped into another one of the worms from the rear. With another scream, she leaped to her hooves and began galloping toward Applejack and Pinkie. In her panicked mind, the two ponies were the closest thing to safety, although all of them were surrounded. Rainbow Dash, at least, was up in the air and out of the encircling mouths. The frightened yellow pegasus desperately sought for someplace she could hide, but there was no cover to be had. Instead, she dropped to the ground and put her fore-hooves over her eyes. At that moment though, the rumbling from the ground got worse. Unable to help herself, Fluttershy peaked out with one eye. A gigantic shape was emerging from the ground, rising into the air behind Rainbow's back. "EEEEEK!! Rainbow Dash, LOOK OUT!" she yelled, pointing a hoof at the purple and yellow monstrosity that even now seemed to be reaching for her friend...
12. (Double posting for Stage 3 and Stage 4) "What? Oh yes! Not to worry, I jus took a little detour. I had to make sure mah trees were taken care of. I'm Applejack, and I run Sweet Apple Acres." Well, that was a coincidence! Topaz had just been thinking of the Apple sisters back in Tiny Apple Valley, then she had, almost literally, run into one of the local Apple family here. "A pleasure, Miss Applejack! Topaz Tremor, geologist," she replied in greeting. "I recently purchased supplies from Misses Caramel Apple and Apple Bumpkin. I believe they are relations of yours?" Shortly after the pair passed out of the apple orchard, the threatening clouds really began to pour. The rain streaking Topaz's lenses made it nearly impossible to see the road ahead of her. What kind of incompetent weather ponies did they had around here anyway?! Topaz had half a mind to... write a sternly worded letter to the local weather authorities! As she mentally composed said letter, Topaz very nearly collided with a pony blocking the road! Stumbling to a halt, she took a moment to wipe her glasses with a fetlock. In the distance, she could now make out a bridge over a stream. The rain had raised the level of the stream enough that the bridge was now impassible. The race authorities were directing the runners to an alternate path. Topaz followed Applejack down the side path, then came to a sudden halt. She could see other racers using some kind of a rope swing to cross to the other side of the raging water. While some of the ponies appeared to be enjoying the ride. Topaz's eyes shrunk down to pinpoints and she began stepping away backwards. "They... they want us to use THAT?" she stuttered. The swing only cleared the surface of the water by a couple of hooves, but Topaz's phobia made it appear that it was much higher. "I, I think I'll g-g-go back and take my chances with the bridge...." she started. "Don't fret, Sugarcube. You can do it. Tell ya what, I'll help you across. Just grab my tail." Topaz was taken aback by this offer. Not by the fact that she was offering to help, but because... "I beg your pardon... you want me to grab WHAT?" The farm mare seemed perfectly serious though. With a nervous shrug, Topaz took Applejack's tail in her mouth. "Are you crite sure about thish Mish?" said between her clenched teeth, but Applejack was already swinging. Topaz had to suppress the urge to scream as the two orange ponies swung over the ravine. The next few moments went by in a blur, but suddenly Topaz found herself belly down on the opposite side of the still rising creek. She stumbled to he hooves, then stood staring across the water. With a shiver, turned and began trotting up the path back the main road, vowing to herself to NEVER do something like that again... By the time Topaz reached the road, her panic had calmed enough for her to begin running again. As she passed into a clearing, the rain finally let up. With a sigh of relief, she briefly moved to the side and wiped the water from her glasses. Now that she could see, she took a moment to appreciate the scenery. The trees all around the glade were full of many colours of leaves. As the racers passed by, those leaves fell in cascades, sometimes being spun and twirled by winds from the nearby storm. The wildlife of the forest now seemed to be watching the race, as though they knew the significance of this event. Topaz was so lost in thought that, before she know it, she was behind the pack again. Finding her determination again, the orange mare moved back into a gallop, focusing on the trees that still had some of their leaves after the bulk of the competitors had been through.
13. Topaz's run wasn't going so well. Her bad start at the line had her near the back of the pack. Her draft pony frame wasn't meant for sprinting, but that's what she was having to do to keep up. The race course appeared to be moving into an apple orchard. Topaz thought back to her stop at Tiny Apple Valley on the way out of Filly, and wondered if this was another Apple family farm. The family was supposed to be huge, and spread out all over Equestria. She'd have to consider making a stop here for more supplies before she traveled out of town. Speaking of supplies, ponies had set up booths along the race course with apple juice and cider. A few of her competitors had even stopped to grab a few apples from the orchard. Topaz was tempted, but this early into the race she didn't want to stop, especially when she was behind her pace. After several minutes, she finally backed off in her pace after she made up some ground. That's when the drizzle of rain started. Rain? Shouldn't the local weather ponies have taken care of this? Not much was getting through the trees, but it was enough to leave streaks on her glasses. That could prove to be an annoyance, but the rain didn't appear to be affecting anypony else, so she resolved to ignore it. The racers all seemed to be getting into their rhythms now. Now that she was back on pace, Topaz began to focus on her hoof falls. They were racing for a reason, after all. The vibrations coming back told her much about the orchard, and the other racers as well. She could tell by the uneven rhythm from some of the hoofbeats that at least some of the competitors weren't used to this kind of running. One of those she swore was a purple unicorn she recognized from the university, but she couldn't put a name to the face. No no, wool gathering was what got her behind in the first place. Topaz focused on her own hoofbeats, setting up a pace pattern that should propagate the vibrations effectively into the trees' roots. The orange mare was surprised when she saw a smaller orange mare emerge from the orchard ahead of them. She appeared to be talking to the trees... As they passed, the other mare joined in at the back of the pack. She was wearing a number, so she was a racer, but why has she been so far off course? "Pardon me, miss," Topaz called out, "Are you quite alright? How did you find yourself so far off the track?"
14. Actually Quicklime, there is no ban on new characters in Ponyville. The RP Helpers just like to encourage members to put their characters elsewhere to separate the RPs a bit and to encourage people to explore the rest of the RP world we've created. Now, ShadowWalking, on to your application! The one thing I see that you're missing is a cutie mark story. For pony characters, a cutie mark story gives the reader more insight into the character and what their interests are. Also, what does his cutie mark mean? Does his talent have to do with rocks, geology, mining, rock farming, or something else? If you could please add these into his character summary, you'll be one step closer to getting Boulder approved.
15. Topaz stood near the starting line, stretching and limbering herself up. The orange mare had a sweatband around her ears, and she had acquired a strap to keep her glasses in place. It was just chance that she was passing through Ponyville during the Running of the Leaves, but she had made up her mind that she had to run this year. She had run in this event a few times before back in Filly, but not since she had gone to the university. The truth was, since she had started her survey expedition, she'd realized just how out of shape she'd gotten. Four years of studying in Canterlot had left her slightly flabby and had definitely diminished her draft pony endurance. The first few days of pulling her cart along the roads had been particularly rough; she'd had to go through much more of her water stores than she had wanted to, and had had to rest so often she had gotten behind on her schedule. So the Running was going to be a challenge to herself. She didn't expect to win the race, but she did want to complete it. As she stretched her muscles, she also stretched out with her Earth sense. The whole purpose behind the Running of the Leaves was to shake the trees enough to drop their leaves. While Topaz didn't have the same connection to plants and trees that some earth ponies did, her connection to the earth itself might let her 'shake things up' a bit more. The vibrations coming back through her hooves told her that while the path though Whitetail Wood was hard packed, there were enough instabilities to help her out. Finally, an older stallion came out to officially begin the race. Topaz took this opportunity to use her height to survey the other racers. There were ponies of all types assembled at the starting line. She even saw a gryphon in the crowd! She also spotted a small mint-green unicorn who was proudly displaying a gold medal. Was that the mare that won last year? She didn't look to be an athlete. In fact, several of the ponies she saw seemed to be more scholarly than competitive. While Topaz was more scholar than athlete for sure, maybe she could win? Her musing was cut short by the blow if the starter's whistle. Darnit! She'd missed the start! She hadn't even noticed the other competitors bracing themselves. So Topaz began running from a standing start, a couple of hoofbeats behind the pack already...
16. I didn't get very far in the race last year, but going to try again with a different pony. Signing in with Topaz Tremor.
17. Snips finally caught up with Snails as the orange colt went down the path into the Everfree Forrest. This was the only time of the year the two were allowed anywhere near the forest, after the Ursa incident... The tails of Snips' coat were flapping as he galloped to catch up. "Oh wow, where've you been, Snails? Somehow I lost you after the Changeling place." Snips had been so stunned when, not only had Applebloom confirmed that changelings were real, and she had SEEN their Queen, up close, to then have a vistit from Princess Luna herself... well, somehow he'd gotten separated from his friend. Snips looks around at the dark, spooky pathway. This place definitely brought back some un-fun memories. "I haven't seen Discord yet, but he was in here last year..." he reminded Snails.
18. "Fluttershy! We were just looking for you! Spike is fine, Owlowiscious is fine... but we have no idea where PeeWee went! Spike told her to fly to your house, but I don't think she has any idea how to get there." Fluttershy gasped at the news, her hooves covering her muzzle. "Oh no!" she cried out. "The poor little birdy!" Fluttershy began flitting back and forth a few hooves above the ground as if she were pacing. Her worried mind started coming up with all the awful things that could have happened to the phoenix. "Maybe I shouldn't have left the cottage... What if she made it there and there's nopony around? What if she got lost on the way? What if something terrible happened to her?!" The pegasus was quickly working her way back up into a panic when she saw a familiar unicorn exit behind Twilight. Fluttershy hadn't really gotten a chance to know Shining Armor during the wedding preparations. She'd spent much of the time before the wedding working with the the palace's birds, and had mostly talked to Princess Cadance... or, the fake Princess that is... Anyway, she'd never really talked to the stallion before or after that crazy wedding day. “Oh hi Shutterfly, we were just looking for you!” Fluttershy dropped to the ground, bowing before Shining Armor. He was a Prince now, after all. At least that's what Rarity had said. "P-p-p-prince Shining Armor!" she stammered, nervously. "I-i-it's an h-honor to see you again..." It took her a moment to realize what the Prince had said. Shutterfly? Oh dear. The pegasus' yellow cheeks started turning pink with embarrassment. "I-i-it's... Fluttershy... your highness..." she said, her voice facing out till it was nearly inaudible. Unsure what to do now, she tried to hide behind her mane while still bowing. Twilight, though, was still explaining what was going on. Spike was OK, but sleeping. She wanted to start heading toward Fluttershy's cottage to look for the missing phoenix. Fluttershy shook herself to regain a bit of composure. She could do this. Helping lost and hurt animals was what she loved to do. Finding Pee Wee was more important right now than dealing with her shyness. "Ok, Twilight," she said, straightening. "I'll fly over-head and you can look on the ground. Hopefully Pee Wee's feathers will stand out so we can find her!"
19. Phil is Senior Helpstaff, and they have a hive mind. If you're hearing it from him, it's like hearing it from 5 people at once.
20. Snips trotted up behind his orange friend. The shorter colt was looking around a little nervously. Part of him was excited that is was Nightmare Night! Snips had decided that this year, he'd go as Copper Field, a famous pony illusionist and escape artist. He was all dressed up in a suit coat with tails and a big top hat. The coat was old, and a little moth-eaten, and the hat had seen better days as well, but it worked for a costume. But another part of him was apprehensive. When he and Snails had gone out for Nightmare Night last year, things hadn't gone so well. Not once, not twice, but three times the colts had gotten dosed with poison joke from someone who looked suspiciously like Discord. Snips didn't know who was running the events this year, but he really hoped that the strange blue plant was not involved. Snips stepped back to survey the made-over building they were entering. The decor made it look like a cross between a pony dwelling and an insect's hive. Leave it to Snails to want to go into an insect nest. Snails was all excited and ready to run in; Snips wasn't so sure. "I dunno about these 'changelings' Snails," he said, uncertainly. "They look weird. Lookit' all of the holes in their legs! You sure these are real creatures?" Real or not, Snips jumped into the air in fright as one of the costumed changelings jumped out at them. He rushed ahead in a momentary panic, nearly colliding with a pony in armor. "Oh, hey Applebloom! Nice armor!" he said when he finally recognized the filly. Snips looked at Applebloom with disbelief as she talked about the tall statue next to her. "Oh come on," he taunted, "These bug-pony things aren't real, are they?"
21. Hi Midnight. Sorry about your posting problems. When your character is approved, your login needs to be added to the Roleplayers group. Unfortunately, only the site admins can change your groups, and there are only two of them. Please be patient and I'm sure that you will be fixed soon!
22. Fluttershy nervously trotted after her friends. It was bad enough that Rarity was missing, but now they had to go through Everfree to find her. The pegasus was a regular visitor in the forest, and many of her animal friends lived there, but it could still be a spooky, dangerous place. With Fluttershy's anxiety already high, moving through the forest made her super-aware of everything going on around them. Every moving branch, every snap of a twig made her head swing around to look. Her ears were constantly moving, listening for anything out of the ordinary. Angel clung to her mane, all of the pony's sudden movements threatening to shake him off. Up ahead, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were goofing off, treating the whole thing like it was a game. Fluttershy loved her friends, but she really wished they'd take this more seriously. At least Applejack was here, and her no-nonsense attitude could usually calm the other two. The trio were arguing over some berries that Pinkie had found. Fluttershy actually recognized both of them, and they were both safe, surprisingly, but Rainbow had already stopped the pink mare from eating them. She was about to speak up, when she felt an unusual vibration from the ground. It almost felt like an earthquake, but very faint. "Um, d-did anypony else feel that?" she called out to her friends.
23. Bonfire turned his attention away from the irate princess. The Captain could calm her down. Heck, he was part of the Royal Family himself. Plus, the unicorn didn't trust himself not to laugh at the alicorn's discomfiture. He made a mental note to speak to the unicorns that maintained the barrier down here. He might not be able to do the spell himself, but he wanted to know as much as as could about a spell that could de-power Luna in this fashion if she returned to her old ways... The Master Sergeant had already returned to the interrogation, trying to get Private Tick to reveal anypony that might have helped him get in. Bonfire really hoped that none of the ponies in the guard had actually helped this colt. It was one thing to chew out a guard for poor performance. It was quite another to have to bust them down in rank, or, Celestia forbid, dishonorably discharge them. Bonfire was about to add a few choice words to Tick, when he heard the princess behind him. “Tell me, does this shield work on Changelings too, or just ponies?” No... it couldn't be... could it? This scared colt couldn't be a changeling, could he? Bonfire had no idea whether the magic barrier would affect a changeling, but just the thought that one of those bugs had gotten into the palace grounds... Bonfire slammed a hoof against the bars and moved his head in as close as he could, his eyes seeming to burn. "Is THAT what's going on here?! Are you a dirty changeling?!" he shouted. "If I find out you're one of those bugs, I'll throw you in a hole so deep you'll never see Celestia's sun again!!"
24. Snips had followed Snails up unto the stacked chairs, but he could still barely see the stage. Throughout Silver Flash's speech, the short colt was jumping and bobbing his head around for a better view. What he saw though, just got him more and more excited. The actress portraying Daring looked JUST like Daring Do looked in his mind's eye, even more so than the mare that Snails had been talking to outside. Her movements, her voice, it was spot on. Snips appreciated good showponyship, and this mare had it in spades. "We HAVE to see this show, Snails..." he said to his friend, his eyes wide with excitement. "But how're we gonna get to Mareway??" As the actress concluded, Snips joined in the raucous hoofstomps of the audience, to the point where his over-sized diamond dog paws slipped on the chair and he fell to the ground. The colt barely noticed. "SUH-WEEEET! Th' Convention is Officially on! What do we do first Snips?! Th' panel on "Creatures of Legend"? Sign-ups fer th' "Costume Competition"? Th' Panel on "Costume Making"? Or we could hit the "Dealers Den" and see what cool and awesome swag we can buy, eh? Oooh Yeah! How about "Meet th' Guest of Honor"? There were so many things to do, Snips had a hard time deciding. A look at the line that was already forming for signatures made him decide against that... for now. He was filled with too much frantic energy to wait in a queue. The pair of colts had their own experiences with 'Creatures of Legend,' so they could skip that. Well, maybe they'd poke their heads in there later. Finally one desire made up his mind. "OK! First we'll sign up for the contest, then to the dealer's room! I have to get a DD pith helmet!"
