Today I went hiking. It was the fifth time I had tacked this simple 3.8 mile loop to the top of a big hill, and the fourth time I turned back early. I need hiking friends made of sterner stuff.

day hike.
-
If your friends aren't able to hike 8, how the heck do you think they can do 16? Or are you doing Pt. A to Pt. B? We usually do day hikes as A to A. Our overnights are A to B.
-
This would be point A to point B. We would get back by one of us hitchhiking back to the car. I have plenty of friends who could hike 8 miles no problem. The challenge is getting them to come, and getting the people who can't hike 8 miles not to come without being mean.

I have room for another big map in my apartment. I already have the world, Alaska, and topographical maps of my favorite river trips, but what should the last one be?

Alaska is very sensitive about his size.
-
How about something fictional. Like Middle Earth, Tamriel, or... I don't know... Equestria?
-
A fictional map would only do good if you're a fan of that fictional world.
Map of the U.S.A would make sense. I mean, Alaska is a part of it, right?

I drove home for lunch today and discovered that someone was stealing my electricity with an extension cord to my exterior outlet. What is the appropriate response? I'm not sure but by the time i got back to work I was pretty sure that tying 7 knots in his chord around a pole was over-reacting.

Untie it during the night and leave it as you thought you should have?
-
wow, i would have thrown a brick through that persons window with a note on it saying "if i find that you do this again ill send you to the moon"- signed Princess celestia.
that will freak em out.
-
I did not know the guy (gal?), so I couldn't talk to him. Also, throwing a brick is a little overkill for stealing $0.20/hour from me. That might result in retribution as well. When I got back four hours later, car and chord were gone.

Sometimes life is like that old Mexican woman who drags you up on stage and won't let you stop dancing to a seemingly endless song and it would feel rude to walk away, but you don't know enough Spanish to politely decline and you only know one salsa dance move which isn't completely appropriate, but it's all you've got, and even if you could scooch away while she was lost in the dance, she'd find you and drag you back up because you don't have anywhere else to go.

But in a mosh, all you have to do is jump, sing, bounce your hands up in the air. You don't have to know how to dance.
-
Depends how brutal the mosh is?
-
Yeah, I forget that some of them require the ability to defend yourself, and keep your feet at all costs.
-
A shout out to all my friends here who are comfortable with their singleness.

I meant for those who aren't comfortable with their singleness.

O_O oh yeah. It is sad that our culture treats us as incomplete until we are in a romantic relationship. That is not at all the case.
-
I was complete when i found ponies, LOL!
Our culture also treats us as if we are some sort of "outcast" for lack of a better word for never being in a relationship.....
But heck, i'd rather find that one special somepony, as my first gf, than have had thousands of girlfriends, and die sad and alone.
God that got dark fast ^-^

I've got some duck kidneys sitting on my desk...trying to work of the courage to try them...

Because I took them. I took them because I have illusions about being adventurous.
-
Do it. And film it.
-
Ah, too lazy for that : )

I have driven more miles on my car than all other owners/drivers combined. It is a good feeling, and this is the first vehicle for which this is true of me.

I drove like 99% of it. Some of it my husband drove (while I was in the car), and like 15 miles various friends drove. It had less than a mile when I drove it, and then upon buying it I proceeded to take it from NJ to Boston to Portland, Oregon and then back to Boston in the first 4 months I owned it. LOL.
-
Heh, nice. I only have about 51% of the total miles on my car.
-
I'm about to get my first car! That's kind of an achievement.. Am I right? :3

I just received the worst resume I have ever seen. It was formatted terribly, the work experience was mostly cooking and construction and included both first and third person references to the applicant. It was for a job posting for a choreographer. Sooooooooooo Confused.

I had one come in the other day while the gallery was very busy. I was working with a client and they pushed themselves PAST the customer (Nearly knocking her over in the process)and asked for a job application. -_-
-
wow.
-
And they were the type who weren't into bathing. D: Double AAAAGH.

I'll take whatever part of yourself you don't need. <mutters> And sell it to the magical licorice black market.

: )
I'm a regular there. You might end up selling it back to me...
-
I still profit then

16,000 people, singing an entergetic Hindi song while dancing Gungnam Style while wearing a fluttershy shirt = best way to bring in the new year

Urbana? you mean Urbana, Illinois?
-
Kinda. Urbana is so named for its original location, but when it outgrew Urbana Illinois, it kept the name.
-
Ah, I see. I was curious because I have friends in Urbana-Champiagn. And interestingly enough, the connection I have with them is through a church.

Upon reflecting on the beauty and meaning of this day the thought "Now to share it with canterlot" crossed my mind. Merry Christmas my friends.

That was cute, and beautiful!
Thank you for reminding me the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas Weesh ^-^

I just got my second nielsen survey! By saying that I watch MLP, I represent thousands of MLP viewers in my area!

lol, awesome!
-
I'm not sure if it is really "thousands", as the pollster said, as my entire region only has 80,000 people in it. But it sounds great to me.
-
Woot! That's the spirit. ^^

While on vacation from Alaska, I just stuffed myself so full of fine Texas BBQ that I was unable to keep it all down. Totally worth it! Excuse me while I return to the toilet...

interesting. Texas BBQ always seemed to give me happy bowel movements.
-
I have a sensitive stomach...
-
Haha! I love how you ate Texas BBQ in Alaska, rather than fish? XD

I'm going to vote in a couple of hours, but I resent feeling pressured to do so.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
WHY?! : )
-
I have been feeling pressure to vote as well. Unfortunately, I didn't register, so kinda of moot.
-
Ah, I auto-registered when I got or renewed my driver's license.
I think some small amount of pressure is fine, and maybe an indicator of a healthy society...but what we have been getting this year is ridiculous.

I was asked to step out of the band I was in. It was the right decision, but I am still sad. I hope to develop one of the other creative outlets that I have lined up.
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
Because the band was pretty bad, and I was the weakest member by far. I got in because they had zero people to play the guitar, and I wanted to learn how to play with others. Now they have two guitarists who are much better than me, and I can no longer add anything of value with my current skill level. It was a good experience, but I really need to get better before any more serious endeavors.
-
How fun! I've been in a couple of bands before myself :3 They were metal bands, too!! The first one was called Endless Beginnings, and I got to play the drums because nobody else knew how to xD Then, the most recent was called Bullets for Breakfast. I played the bass guitar, just because nobody else wanted to. Cx Hehe good times.. I'm glad to hear that you're still learning though, scamp!! It's a LOT of fun ^^
-
Thanks, I have some solo and duo stuff that I can still do, so it will all work out fine.

Duck Kidneys are STILL sitting on my desk. Haven't worked up the courage to try them yet. They are only a month past the expiration date...

You could always return them to the duck!
-
That sounds awkward. How would I explain why I didn't return them 6 months ago?
-
Say that you had trouble finding the right duck?

Thank you Rosewind for the new avi!

Terror: Agreeing to take a leadership roll in an organization of which you know only the other leaders. Because I have a lot of names to learn.

Admittedly, it is not a bad problem to have, but it is much easier to be a member who doesn't know everybody than a leader who doesn't know everybody.
-
What organization?
-
It is a local group in my city that provides support to Native Alaskan college students.

My mom hurt her back today, and maybe she has to cancel her trip to see me. I only see her a couple times a year and that would be sad.
