  1. Guys, please pick a slot (or join Imagination as a "whatever") rather than 'pics' or 'lines'. Chances are very good that you will get what you want for the first game that comes your way. However, we are all participating in two games, and bets are off for the second game. For instance, the person in slot #6 will do a pic for game 'B', but if someone misses slot #4 in game 'A', everyone after #4 will be doing the opposite of the forecast for game 'A'. Or if you have a slot before #5, and we end up with an odd number of players, you will do both a pic and a line, unless someone misses and you get back onto two of the same.

If the process for this game is still unclear after reading the new rules, please let me know and I will clarify.

If no one claims the #1 slot, Imagination will provide the 'A' Game opening line.

  2. Edit: The games are finished. Link to game 'A'. Link to game 'B'.

Previous games: Telephone Pictionary, Telephone Pictionary 2, Telephone Pictionary 3, Telephone Pictionary 4, Telephone Pictionary 5, Telephone Pictionary 6 Telephone Pictionary 7, Telephone Pictionary 8, Telephone Pictionary 9

Guys and Gals! It is time for another round of our favorite forum game! In honor of our tenth edition, we will kick it up a notch by running two games concurrently. Please pay close attention to this round's rule changes...

    THE WAY THINGS WORK:

    Rules:

    1) Each player will volunteer for a specific slot in the roster shown below.

    2) On the first day, slots #1 and #5 will each start the game with a line, and PM/email their submission to me and the player in the following slot withing 24 hours. Furthermore, they shall post an update in this thread to inform us of the movement.

    3) From the moment both lines have been received, the players in the next slot will have 24 hours to provide a sketch to the next players. Again, they will send their submission to me, the next player, and leave a post in this thread.

    4) From there, we will switch back and forth from pictures to lines until each player has had a chance to participate in both games.

    5) If you miss your window, you may be skipped for that game, but not for the other game. This may result in those that hoped for two line slots or two picture slots or one of each getting the opposite for one of their submissions.

    Special Instructions:

    1) PMs/Emails should have the game, 'A' or 'B', in the subject

    2) If you have slot 1, 2 or 3, hide your first line or picture in spoiler tags so that I don't accidentally see it prior to my second submission.

    3) Writers: Aim for interpretation rather than description. What are the motives/feelings? What is happening behind the scenes?

    4) Artists: Again, aim for interpretation. Since this is another "lightning" round with a short time frame for art, it is acceptable to provide a quick scrawl. This is preferable to a late masterpiece. Submit your stick ponies with pride!

    5) If you are the last person on the list, you will send your submission for Game 'B' to the first person, and that game will continue until each person has had a shot at it.

    6) If you need more time or know you will be gone for a few days, shoot me a PM. I will happily bend a bit to accommodate those that communicate!

Tip: if you want two lines, try the black numbers. If you want two pictures, try the red numbers. No guarantees this round!

  3. The black deck, almost everything, except for Sorin, Sorin's Vengence, Akroma, and Anawon cost 3 or less

Your land expectancy by turn five on the play is only 3.67 so if it is working at peak efficiency, it is only because you are beating the odds. Or are you ok with missing land drops after turn three? Also, is this for dueling or for multiplayer?

    Name: Operation Lab Maniac

    colours: Blue/Green (Simic)

    Casual deck

I love +1/+1 counters with proliferate.

    Looks like a blast.

Laboratory Maniac is fun card as well, so it is cool to see a silly plan 'B'.

For the theme and format, the deck doesn't need any massive changes, but I have a few efficiency suggestions:

Include more cheap creatures that use counters. Like Spike Drone, More initiates or arcbound workers. getting three of these out and then using the gambit on turn three can get you off to a great start. There are a few cards that might be better than the core prowler, like thrumbing bird and contagion clasp. The clasp doubles as cheap early game removal, and I don't see any other removal in the deck at all! Consider a desert twister to increase the number of answers for which the deck has answers. What with all the card drawing, the joiners and the voices, having a big mana outlet might not be a bad idea. There are many excellent hydra like primordial or protean or ferral that could soak up some mana, and still make use of proliferate. Also, if you've got a braingeyser type of card, your deck and the maniac could both be happy.

I am always tempted to put Kavu Predators in these decks because they can get out of hand if your opponent's like lifegain. Fungal Behemoth can get huge in these decks too. If your playgroup has a "live and let live" philosophy, and especially if there is usually someone defenseless to attack, fangren firstborn can be crazy.

Triumph of the hordes could get you over the top as well as a tertiary victory condition, and you already have proliferate so you can push through the last couple of counters afterwards. From the new set, there is also a neat evolve creature that loses counters to steal stuff, and that might help out as well.

  4. "Soarin"? Nice : )

Neither deck has enough mana. 40% rather than 33% should be the default.

    Focusing on the black deck:

I'd call it "casual" rather than "legacy" since it has fun and expensive cards and couldn't compete in a legacy tournament.

Dark rit doesn't count towards your mana sources unless you are planning to win in the first 2 turns. Dark rit will allow for explosive starts, but opens you to to a 2-for-1 or 3-for-1. Also, 4 total cards with a mana cost of 1 are not enough for any deck. You should probably have at least 4 more. I have no specific beef with the Memorial except that the deck could do with fewer expensive spells.

Four tutors are a lot, especially since expensive ones typically take your entire turn, and I can see you getting swamps with them all the time. Or worse, wishing you would draw a swamp, so that you could tutor for a fifth. Why not demonic tutor? Tons of players mistakenly believe that the Elixir is a good card, but it is not worth the slot. Especially since you have life gain in the nighthawks and blood artists. 20 cards that kill creatures are too many, especially when so many of them are repeatable. Consider removing a bunch, as well as changing some of them to one mana spells like tragic slip.

The focus of this deck is odd. It has stuff 10 cards like Anwon and blood seeker, who want to be in a multiplayer game, and tons of point removal for duels.

Killing wave can be brutal with a blood artist out, but doesn't help you get card advantage with so much point removal.

  5. Red/Green Multicolour Theme:

    (1) 4xUtopia Sprawl, 4xSlitherhead

    (2) 4xHorned Kavu, 4xTrace of Abundance, 2xHull Breach

    (3) 4xLobber Crew, 2xBoggart Ram-Gang

    (4) 4xBloodbraid Elf, 3xRumbling Slum, 1xUlasht, 1xDecimate

    (5+) 4xPyroconvergence, 2xSpitting Image, 1xDeus of Calamity

    (Land) 12xForest, 8xMountain

    Mana Sources: 28/60

I just brewed this up today, and am looking for suggestions before I go out and buy the pieces that I don't have.

This casual multiplayer deck revolves around Lobber Crew and Pyroconvergence, both of which key off of multicolour cards.

A key synergy includes the Kavu, which can bounce Ulasht, Bloodbraid Elf, or even itself for profit.

Spitting Image allows even my excess land draws to trigger pyroconvergence, and gives me some badly needed flying defense.

Alright guys, the primary problem with this deck is defense. The moment it STARTS to roll, the entire board is my enemy. I can play efficient defenders like rumbling slum, but people will attack their own 5/5's into it, and then the following players will hit me while I am relatively defenseless.

I understand that asking for gruul coloured defensive cards is a tall order. Huntmaster would be perfect...if he was 1/20 of his actual cost to buy.

  6. It's not an April Fools joke in a way, (youtube kinda did it before) but rick rolling?

Yeah, anyone else memorize the link to a rick roll? I just look for the "oHg".

On gaia, they have events where links appear randomly on the screen disguised as theme appropriate objects. For one Easter event, I put the egg event picture in all of my posts and linked it to the rickroll, and nailed hundreds (I used one of the sites that hides the "oHg" and keeps track of your numbers) of people. Nowadays, they warn you about links that take you off the site.

  7. Welcome to "the-internet-lies-to-you-day"!

there is already a video of

on the "other places" thread, and there is a fun button at the bottom of each page of Canterlot.

What are your favorite internet April Fools pranks? Either of today or yesteryear is fine.

I am typically pretty gullible, but I was right on the money today somehow.

For instance, this one got me hook line and sinker: Clicky
