  1. From the album: MLP Characters

Want to try other poses aside from "pretty princess poses prettily". I don't draw ponies sitting down very often - hard for me to get the hind legs correct - but this one looks alright, by my books. Applejack © Hasbro

M'not even trying to make a funny. Seriously, this one was difficult. Partly because of Discord's unique shape/colors, mostly because I couldn't figure out what to do to the picture other than just drawing the character. Got carried away with the background, so it doesn't really look 'Okami', more like a random gallery upload. On the plus side, I'm seriously having way too much fun with these Okami drawings, so much so that I'm neglecting RPs a bit. There's still a bunch more I want to draw, too. Discord © Hasbro
  3. Thanks kindly! Don't forget to leave a 'Like' if you like~ I work entirely in Photoshop, and usually only use two distinct brushes - one's a calligraphy brush that comes standard in PS (basically a tilted brush that'll give you thicker and thinner lines depending on which direction you stroke the brush. I use it for the body), the other is an ink-styled brush that twists and bends on itself. It's what I use to do the hair. Also I use a texture I downloaded for the background, to mimic a paper/scroll type feel. In all honesty, if you look at Okami pictures, most have a distinct ink border around everything, all hard lines, because that's the type of art the game is based on - sumi-e is what it's called in Japanese. But for my drawings, I like leaving the hair undefined. It's way easier and cleaner looking, if not lazier!

Here is the actual fourth Okami drawing. Pretty obvious who the subject was going to be, though I still maintain that Prince Inkbrand is still the true 'Fourth' (for completely objective reasons, of course). I like how most of this one came out, even if I'm still iffy on the face. Frontal perspective for ponies has never been my strong point, but I wanted to try something different from the other three. Overall, I think it turned out pretty well. Twilight Sparkle © Hasbro
  5. From the album: OC Art

By popular demand, here is the fourth and final Okami picture, of course saving the best for last. Notice the elegant swirls of ink as they protrude from every graceful leap and bound, permanently tattooing the landscape wherever he passes. You are all lucky to behold his inked visage. This came out the best out of all my Okami drawings, and I say that with all the objectiveness of an unbiased and unattached artist. (And then there's actual, but this one is obviously an unrealistic representation)
  6. Edited the picture, fixing the hair and making the background color lighter. Looks a lot better, in my opinion!
  7. From the album: MLP Characters

This one came out better than the Luna one - the different hair colors really help layer themselves, despite Cadence's hair not being as free-flowing as the other two. Also opted not to give her the swirly shoulder things, since I think it gives her a younger look. Cadence © Hasbro

Not that I'm aware of, heh. But I appreciate all the 'Like's all the same!
  9. From the album: MLP Characters

After the previous picture, the inevitable follow came as a, "where's the other one?" I like how the Celestia one came out more, especially the hair - I thought working with Luna's hair would be easier, but the lack of different colors actually made it a lot harder. Still, not too bad I don't think. Luna © Hasbro

    Ooookaaaamiii!

Thanks! And it took about...two hours? Hour and a half? The hardest part was sketching - everything else came along pretty easily.
  11. From the album: MLP Characters

Been wanting to try my hand at an Okami-style drawing for a long time now, and finally got around to it. Of course I needed to draw a character with long, flowing hair so I could cover up a myriad of mistakes, and that decision turned into this. Not too bad for a first attempt I think, especially when trying to replicate a unique art style. Need to work on the body outlining, it's too thick and doesn't taper enough in areas. Still, I like it. Celestia © Hasbro
  12. From the album: OC Art

As stated in my previous picture, my new character is a Chamrosh. Long story short, Chamroshes tend to avoid 'civilization' to instead live in the wild within packs, usually in Aquellia near their Griffon cousins - and on top of that, Ori is reserved and seemingly standoffish. It made for an interesting brain storm session as to how to get an already reclusive species and character into main pony land, where most RPs take place. Eventually decided that Ori's father semi-integrates himself into civilization and cultures to try to learn how to better the Chamrosh lifestyle, which leads him to take his family on trips into Equestria, and maybe even beyond. I have a feeling that Ori, comfortable in his high caves above Raptorclaw Canyon, is not so keen on the idea. It's a wide, wide world out there, after all. Was actually just doing some simple lineart but turned it into a speed paint. Painting portion took about an hour.

    Ouranos

    From the album: OC Art

Not making any more OCs, this is the last one ever, blah blah blah. Copy/paste from previous pictures here please, because I've pretty much given up on controlling myself. Funny story about Ouranos' creation here. I felt like drawing something but didn't know what, and decided to just browse Canterlot.com. I was looking at the Online list when I caught a Guest looking at [Lore] Chamroshes [CC Only], and my immediate thought was, "What in the world is that?" My intrigue grew as I read over the page, and before I knew it this little guy had been drawn. And then apped. I've been meaning to add a foal-age character to my roster though - plus a flier, one with actual wings. So it all works out in the end, maybe. Possibly. Yeah.

Another 'thank you' gift for someone who's been dropping off 'Like's on nearly every art piece I've submitted, since the beginning. This time it features Pocket Change, a hopeless romantic at heart as he presumably pours out his heart to his marefriend. (I was going to included a disgruntled Nocturne Wisp in the background, but got lazy.) I also used this picture to practice some animation. Click on the picture and scroll a bit to get it started. The program I'm using now is a whole lot easier than the other one I was using to animate, but it's still pretty difficult for me. Baby steps! Pocket Change © Tacobob

    Hawkeye

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Like I'm sure many artists do, I tend to feel validated when people comment on art pieces I upload. Personally, I really enjoy getting "Like"s on Canterlot.com. Not sure why, I just like 'em (ahaha get it seewhatIdidthar) Anyways, there are a few people who almost always drop off a "Like" on pretty much anything I upload to my gallery, and this is a thank you to one whose characters I've never drawn before. The pose was a pain to get right, but aside from that, the rest was fun to draw. The head gave me trouble though - was trying to make the tufts cat-like without being too cat-like, to mimic Hawkeye12's own reference picture. Hawkeye © Hawkeye12

McDerp mentioned she'd like to see a humanized Nocturne a while back, and I finally managed to lazily sketch him out, with his face affixed in - what else - a scathing glare. Something about his facial structure is bugging me, but overall I like how it turned out, especially for a quick sketch 'n color.
  18. From the album: OC Art

This picture is so old, I needed to sketch Foxglove and JavaSun into the picture, but I think it came out alright. This hasn't actually happened and I doubt it will, but I can imagine Inkbrand forcing the foals in Foals at Heart outside to burn off energy so he can relax for a moment. Even if he finds them more amusing then he should. Grass, tree, and cloud brushes don't belong to me. Fire Walker © Tacobob Razor © ShadowWalking18 JavaSun © moonshinetheleocat Foxglove © Presteza

  20. And also the fact that he'll pretty much be proclaiming he's a Changeling to make a point. Pretty sure he won't be wanting to use the same face and name again.
  21. From the album: OC Art

Well now he is. How sad is it that I feel the need to draw Changeling disguises that will probably be used only once and then never ever again? This ended up being more detailed than I wanted, but I'm going to use this as a template for any/all of Heartless' disguises. All I'll have to do is edit the hair and colors, and perhaps the expression and where the green glow of the transformation highlights. The tough part will be combing through all the unlabeled layers that were used…
  22. Guh I love how you use highlights and shadows in your drawings. Everything in this picture looks so vibrant and bright and full of life. Really liking the new brushes too, I need to look up the flower brush set!
  23. From the album: MLP Characters

But I gave it a shot anyways, even though this will probably be my one and only EG drawing, because kalbdfalsdf Honestly I don't get what all the fuss is about over Flash Sentry. It'd make more sense if people hated the writing/writers of the character, but instead people seem to hate the character himself. I personally like him, he's almost like a friendlier version of Inkbrand. And nicer. And not as perverted. And more noble. And - alright maybe not. Still like 'im, though.

  25. From the album: OC Art

Last character I swear whatamIevendoing Refined Rhapsody, better known by her stage name Cherry Treble, or CT, is a singer that wants to bypass small gigs to hit the big stage as a pop star across Equestria. Because those dreams come true all the time right. I have to say, I'm really proud of this art piece, because it's the closest I've ever gotten to show design. I don't want to completely mimic show style - I like having a unique art style that differs from the show style - but I just like how this came out, in terms of level of detail and anatomy. I might have to change up her hair colors a bit though, a few of the colors are blending too much with one another.
