The Airship Crash[Open]

((Although this thread is open to all, I would like everyone joining to post here first: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/10806-the-airship-crash/ which is the OOC thread.))

Gears "Sparks" Clockwise sat in his seat, boredly staring out of the window. This was his first time in an airship, and at first he was completely fascinated with the concept of being so high up in the air, but after a few hours of flight, he quickly became bored, with absolutely nothing to do but look out of his window at the landscape below. And even then, he could not see much. The moment the airship had entered the mountain range an hour or so back, the area below the ship became covered in dense clouds, making viewing just about anything next to impossible. So really, he was just staring outside at an endless expanse of impenetrable grey, absolutely nothing to do.

On the seat next to him sat his trusty tool belt, the only supplies he had packed with him besides a few changes of clothes. Sparks had not packed much; after all, he was simply returning to his native home of Stalliongrad after his long, extended stay in Manehatten to resume his intern work at Northern Storm Industries. The ride wasn't supposed to last too much longer, just a few more hours, but Sparks expected that these clouds would delay the trip by at least a few hours.

Although Sparks had been eager to leave Stalliongrad, he was honestly happy to be returning. The relatively warm weather of Manehatten did not suit him well, and he greatly preferred the cold snow of Stalliongrad over the heat of the southern beaches any day. He was happy that he would finally be returning to Stalliongrad by this evening, provided that nothing went wrong.

And what could possibly go wrong, anyway?

Two seats behind Sparks, Timbre Swing turned the page on the book that was levitating in the soft light blue glow of his magic. He was bored out of his mind, and this book was one of the only things he'd brought with him to do while he was on the flight. His seat-mate had fallen asleep, not that he'd had much chance to talk to them, and the view out his window was, frankly, rather boring. The muted green unicorn was reading an adventure novel, written in his native tongue of Fancy...try as he might, he could read Equestrian but barely, and still preferred his native language. He glanced out the window, sighing a little bit. Not one of content, or contempt, but just a sigh.

He had never been to Stalliongrad before. Timbre Swing had been to some of the larger towns...his hometown of Canterlot, as well as Ponyville and Fillydelphia, but never to Stalliongrad. He doubted there was much of a market for his kind of music up there, but it was worth a try. Maybe bringing something new would bring bigger tips at the bars up there, which would be a blessing. The bits were a bit hard to come by...he'd just barely scraped enough together for the ticket on this airship.

He was bringing nothing but his scat-singing, as his instrument, a large contrebasse, was deemed too heavy by the airline. Something about needing to keep the weight down to allow for the ship to move properly. So, he'd left it at home, and was now only carrying a small, single saddle bag with a book and a few other odds and ends he'd need inside. Timbre was also expecting the cold, so in the seat around him was a thick, dark cloak, and on his head, his usual fedora was perched, instead of something sensible...like a tuque.

Serendipity was bored. At the start of the flight, the prospect of flying all the way across Equestria, from Manehattan to Stalliongrad on a passenger airship had seemed like a rare delight. Serendipity was a pony who loved new experiences, and being on such a ship as it sailed through the clouds was definitely new to her. By the end of the first hour, the initial glisten of it all was replaced with a sense of interminable tedium. This airship was just boring! It felt like it was moving soooo slow, and the ponies on board rarely spoke or even looked up from whatever it was they were all doing to occupy their time. It was impossibly frustrating and downright insufferable. The lavender pegasus simply could not believe ponies had managed to suck so much fun out of an act usually so awesome as flying.

Serendipity being bored was of course nothing new. There were ponies with short attention spans and then there was Serendipity. The mare was born in Las Pegasus, a city more associated with fun and games than any other. More than that, she was raised in one of the busiest of the city's casino resorts. Slow days had never existed for her there, and especially not since she started working as a dealer. And even with that active life she lived at home, she still managed to somehow get bored of it all. That's what had brought her onto this airship, in fact.

The pegasus loved seeing new things and meeting new ponies. She would often venture off into Equestria when she got fed up with her regular job to experience new things, and Stalliongrad had always been on her list of places to get to. It just sounded so unique and different, this modern city lodged in the frigid north. Serendipity could just picture a picturesque winter wonderland full of delights. She eventually had found herself unable to pass up purchasing tickets to Equestria's Northernmost city for what she was sure would be a fantastical vacation. She was still really looking forward to it, especially now that it meant getting off this blasted boring ship!

Serendipity lulled, staring upward at nothing as she sat in her seat. The hours just moved so slow! "Gah, aren't we there already?!" she whined aloud, not able to contain herself. "This ship is so slow! Cutting technology, ha! My own wings could get me there faster than this," the midnight blue-maned pegasus vented at nopony.

She gave a frustrated shout and the punctuated her spiel with a loud cry of, "I just wish something would happen to make this flight a little more interesting!"

Dunder Blust was sitting quietly across the walkway from this lavender mare. Everything seemed to be so dreary on the airship. Everypony was so quiet and the skies outside even seemed gloomy. At first, he thought he was going to enjoy the thought of flying with all these other races of ponies and he'd just relax on the flight to Stalliongrad. He'd usually just take a train, but something went wrong with the train to Stalliongrad. He knew there was no way he was going to fly there, the air was too cold for him, his wings would freeze over and fall off. He already scheduled vacation time from his work, so he just decided to take the airship. Anyway, he planned on everything being more exciting.

He was sitting there, looking bored when the lavender mare across the walkway started to yell about something. Demanding something happen that was exciting. He didn't care too much about what the mare had to say, after all, she was just voicing probably most of their opinions. He hoped something interesting would happen, something attention grabbing, maybe some griffon raiders try to attack.

Anyway, he had his usual gear. His rapier and two saddlebags filled with some money, flint and steel, a knife, a cup, and various other miscellaneous items like soap and shampoo and a toothbrush.

Rabble Rouser had took up her location at a window seat far away from the others. She was on route to Stalliongrad to meet up with her fellow band mates of the Filly Force Five for their Greater Equestria Reunion Tour. The other four had gone on ahead whilst Rabble took a few days off in Manehattan to visit family and just unwind from the stress of the Tour. But now she was back in the game. The prospect of the idea that the band might stick together after this tour proved to much for her. Instead of taking conventional travel she opted for what seemed to be the faster option. Though the Airship was far from what she hoped.

Seconds became minutes as minutes became hours and no matter how much time elapsed she felt as if the whole ship had just froze in mid air. Though Rabble had something to take her mind of things. Whilst all of her other gear and equipment was stowed away safely she had kept her acoustic guitar by her side. This was why she had choosen such a secluded space on the ship. Rabble didn't want to annoy anypony as she sat playing familiar tunes singing even more familiar lyrics. Is she was going to pass time until she might aswell do something she liked.

Timbre Swing was just getting immersed in his book when a voice from the seat behind him cried out in annoyance. "Hey, on est tous ennuyer, arret donc de te plaindre." he called back without looking over his seat. It was then he realized that he had been so immersed in reading a book in Fancy that he'd automatically spoken in Fancy instead of Equestrian. Few people he met understood it. The musician also realized he'd been a bit snippy, and to a mare, by the sound of her voice. For him, that just wouldn't do. He closed his book, set it on the ground, and turned around to look over his seat at Serendipity.

"J'm'excuse. Sorry. Didn't mean to uh...snap at you. Mon nom est Timbre Swing." the unicorn said with a grin. The mare was quite pretty, and of course, as was standard for the Fancy musician, that meant he was quite interested...this was for all mares, really.

He couldn't help it! Well, he could, but still, Timbre liked to flirt a bit.

" 'opefully we arrive soon. I s'ink we're all a little...'ow's zat term go...stir crazy?" he ventured. His handle on the Equestrian language was rather limited when it came to speaking, though he could be quite eloquent in his native tongue. This eloquence was often wasted on absolutely terrible pickup lines, though most people focused on the language and not what was being said. "Did you not bring a, uh...magasin, or a book to keep you busy?" he asked the lavender coloured pegasus.

[basically he just told her to shut up, and to stop complaining xD He didn't mean it of course.]

Sparks had been simply staring out the window when he heard the horrific noise of a mare whining. He turned around immediately, looking at the Lavender Pegasus about three seats behind him. "Chto? What is going on back there? Is there a problem?" He frowned. He hadn't actually been paying enough attention to hear what the mare was complaining about, but her whining was enough to attract his attention. He frowned as he saw the green unicorn also turning around, wondering if he had been the cause of the mare's distress.

He opened his mouth to say something, before the airship shook briefly. He held onto his seat tightly, sighing in annoyance. This was not an unusual event; turbulence was rather common, especially once they had entered the clouds. Granted, this particular bit of turbulence had been a bit stronger than any of the others, but Sparks didn't think anything unusual of it.

He smiled and chuckled slightly. "Ah... just some turbulence I assume. No more need to be alarmed."

Percival sat anxiously in his seat behind Dunder. He was finally going to meet his father, after all these years! Normally the unicorn would take a nap during these long, and grueling flights, but he was simply too excited. His father, Pellenere, was in serving in the Stalian guard, in Stalliongrad. And has recently asked for his son. So Percy went on leave and hopped on the next Airship to Stalliongrad, in high hopes to meet his father.

Percy had on his formal Army Service Uniform on, complete with a handful of colorful decorative ribbons, including his shiny, new, Combat Medical Badge, he'd just earned a few weeks ago. He had also packed a toothbrush, a knife, some shampoo, some money, and a novel titled, Pegasus Down.

When the turbulence hit, he initially thought nothing of it. After all, he was trained to keep calm in panicked situations. But the lavender pegasus across from him started to complain even more, and Percival had enough of it.

"Oh yes, please quiet down, your bein' right annoyin' The White Unicorn asked. "And frankly, If yer 'ave a problem wiv' the bleedin' flight, why don't yer go fly there yourself, miss?"

Rolling Thunder was happy to be going to Stalliongrad, even if it was only on orders to inspect the local garrison.  He had left the city for canterlot 19 yars ago and this was his first time coming back. He was slightly annoyed at how long the airship flight was taking so long but was finding ways to entertain himself.

He was regretting wearing his red captains armor for the flight because sitting still for so long had made it stifling. He let his thoughts wander to his packed belongings mostly worrying that his one or both of his swords would be damaged or da,age something else he brought.  Other than that he had his basic civilian clothes his dress uniform and all the other odds and ends a traveling pony carries with them.

He wasn't bothered when the airship hit some minor turbulence, but it did bring another pony in a military dress uniform to his attention. As he heard the other military pony object to the complaining lavender pegasus he made a note to start a conversation. As he felt the turbulence continue he sat back down and picked up his files on the Stalliongrad garrison and, in an attempt to distract himself, began reading through them.

Serendipity's whining broke the relative silence permeating the airship to at first be met only with critical glances from some of the other passengers. Then, rather promptly, a couple of them started to speak up, starting with the passenger seated directly in front of her. He called something out in Fancy, a language the pegasus did not understand, before turning to look back at her.

"J'm'excuse. Sorry. Didn't mean to uh...snap at you. Mon nom est Timbre Swing. 'opefully we arrive soon. I s'ink we're all a little...'ow's zat term go...stir crazy? Did you not bring a, uh...magasin, or a book to keep you busy?"

The stallion spoke in his heavy accent as he looked back toward her. Serendipity smirked slightly. You got all types at the casino, but Fancy ponies still weren't something she dealt with regularly. She had to say she rather liked the sound of the language, and this pony himself was fairly easy on the eyes. He had the look of a real charmer, which made all the fancy talk that much more effective.

She giggled slightly and shook her head. "Oh, it's cool, it's cool. You don't need to apologize. I don't have the first idea what you just said anyway." She gave a bright nod and then added. "It's Serendipity by the way. Nice to meet you, Mr. Fancy."

"And I'm the sort who lives in the moment, so I didn't really bring much but some money and a pack of playing cards," she said, shrugging. "But there's not a whole lo--"

It was about then that some sharp turbulence was felt. Serendipity might have voiced another complaint, but by that time, another pony had confronted her about her behavior.

"Oh yes, please quiet down, your bein' right annoyin' And frankly, If yer 'ave a problem wiv' the bleedin' flight, why don't yer go fly there yourself, miss?"

The pony who said these words was a white unicorn in a military uniform sitting across from her. Serendipity scoffed, in complete disbelief of how she was being addressed. She huffed and narrowed her eyes.

"How rude!" she protested. "Is that how you always talk to mares, Mr. Soldier? I'll bet it's been an awfully long time since you've had a date," she added with a sharp laugh. "With all that standing around all day with that tough look on your face, trying to look all cool in your pretty little uniform, I suppose you just must have forgotten how to talk to a lady."

Timbre Swing smiled, happy that she didn't seem to be all that upset. He decided he'd leave the translation of what he'd said, well, unsaid. No need to get her angry or something. With his hoof, the musician tilted his fedora back a bit, grinning.

"Zee pleasure's all mine." he said pleasantly, chuckling a bit when she mentioned she'd only brought some cards. "Not wanting to play Solitaire?" he asked with a laugh. The airship shuddered around him, the effect of turbulence. For a moment the unicorn looked rather frightened, having never flown before...well he might have once, but that time was a lot smoother. It just scared him, as he was used to being on the ground.

Timbre composed himself in seconds, grinning sheepishly. He was unable to hold in a laugh at her snapping at the soldier who had spoken up. He couldn't help it, the insult was kinda funny. However, another voice joined in in agreement to the soldier with the accent. So, spotting an empty chair next to Serendipity, Timbre climbed out of his seat, managed to get around the sleeping stallion in the one next to him, and sat down next to the mare with a smile.

" 'ere. Now we can speak wit's'out annoying anypony else." he said simply.

"How rude!"

"Is that how you always talk to mares, Mr. Soldier? I'll bet it's been an awfully long time since you've had a date,"

"With all that standing around all day with that tough look on your face, trying to look all cool in your pretty little uniform, I suppose you just must have forgotten how to talk to a lady."

Percy couldn't believe his own ears, did she actually say that? Percival promptly placed his two fore-hooves on his face, in sheer disbelief. In the full year he's been in REA training, he'd was never prepared for a spoiled, filly! Percy thought long and hard to how he should respond to this rather rash statement. Careful not to let this explode into a yelling match, Percy chose his words cautiously, as he was not one to make enemies.

"Listen, sorry if I were soundin' unmannerly there, I'm bloody well not like that" Percy clarified. "but all i'm askin' is for yer ter quiet down, for the sake of the rest of us."

With that, the white unicorn settled back in his seat, and let out a huge sigh. Reminding himself that he's here to see his father, his good mood was restored. In order to pass the remaining time, Percy looked out the side window, and in his delight, he saw his hometown, Trottingham. Percy started to reminisce about his sweet childhood. Hold up, he forgot something...

"And for yor' information, I do 'ave a girlfriend!"

ValenOrange1withtext.png

It was a rare occasion indeed where Valen found himself proud of his heritage and inherently welcoming of the silver spoon so thoroughly feeding him. He often didn't take direct advantage of his family's wealth, preferring soft displays of power and wealth and entertainment and company becoming someone more average and worthy of such love. But this was an exception, and one he was not ashamed to say was due almost entirely to his wealth. He had no business here, personal or otherwise. He had no business heading to the northern city of Stalliongrad, personal or otherwise. He had only the business of desire and that simple motivation was all a colt of means needed. He had booked a first class ticket and arranged with his family to make the trip to and back. Complaints were had but the ticket was already bought and, as all rich folk had a tendency to do, they could not waste a bit. And this cost many bits.

The trip had been entirely pleasant. From his private room the view was unobstructed, the silence was golden. Glorious. Was this what being a pegasus was like? The vistas were by themselves enough to illicit devastating beats of the heart. It was how love felt, or so he assumed, and the thought that there would be a day where his heart would be attuned to feel such day in, day out, was almost too much. The way that the sunlight seemingly glistened off of the clouds, the vast lakes below, the way the moonlight danced cautiously around everything was beautiful. The flight of birds and the swarming images of pegasi in a habitat that they were the masters at as they performed for the benefit of friends and the airship itself. It happened all as if in slow motion, speed reduced to an idea. It was such a wonderful change of pace from Manehattan which forced the soul to be consumed by ceaseless activity. Move, or face being overran. Act immediately or be silenced. Some liked that life and Valen had no ill-will towards it, but he knew that he was a pony that desired the silence and beauty of the world. It wasn't that he was some worldy pony aware of more than his surroundings, nor did he have philosophical point to attach to it. It was nice to rest. It was nice to look at pretty things. His life revolved around those principles where he could find the time in his over-burdened life to practice them; Celestia herself would have to say otherwise for him to seriously consider any other point of view. Besides, silence allowed for reflection, which was an agenda item of his.

The airship passed into dense air cover and Valen found his view obscured by the smothering darkness of the cloud cover. Even this obstruction of his wonderful view did little to damper his mood; what better time for a nap then when the pegasi in the area hadn't done their job to clear established routes and they ran into some clouds? None.

Valen relaxed in his seat, curled up and thoroughly lazy looking with his eyes closed. He yawned.

The trip was boring and he liked it that way.

Sparks sighed. Could these ponies really be arguing? About what? Nothing too terribly important. He was about to say something, when the plane shook again from turbulence, causing him to fall off of his seat. Although there had been turbulence all day, this particular gust had been far more powerful. Sparks frowned and pulled himself back up, taking a look outside of the window, revealing a sight that caused his hear to sink.

The formerly grey clouds had turned black; a storm was brewing outside. Another large gust of wind struck the ship, and the loud roar of thunder cracked outside abruptly. The sound of rain bouncing heavily off of the windows was audible (and rather annoying, actually). Sparks frowned and said to himself, "Wh-where did this storm suddenly come from..?" before another gust of wind knocked Sparks to the floor.

The force of the wind began to gradually speed up, beginning to actually turn the ship, obviously sending it off course to anyone who was paying enough attention to the movements of the airship. Sparks gasped and climbed to his hooves and began to head towards the front of the ship, aiming to speak with the pilot and ask if there was anything he could do to help (him having only recently finished his NSI training, and most of the parts in the airship were likely of NSI craftsmanship), but he found himself unable to make much ground before the wind sent the ship literally spinning in circles, throwing Sparks against a wall.

"Not good..." he muttered to himself, before he began to feel the sensation of falling as the ship began to lose altitude. "Not good at all!" he said, much louder.

"Excuse me Miss. If you wouldn't mind, it would be nice if you turned the volume down. I'm sure you're having a lovely conversation but maybe the whole airship doesn't want to hear it."

Just as Serendipity finished telling off the rude soldier, some other ill mannered stallion, this one with a gray coat and red mane, came up to her and started to work his mouth.

"You can't talk to ponies like that!"

A mare with identical colors, clearly a sister, came up with him and started to shout.

"I can if they're disturbing everypony else."

The stallion argued back, causing Serendipity to just roll her eyes. These two were ridiculous.

"Listen to your sissy, pal. You're the one being totally rude here," Serendipity said shaking her head and giving lad. "How loud I talk, is no pony's business but my own, so just do us all a favor and tell it to somepony who cares."

" 'ere. Now we can speak wit's'out annoying anypony else."

Flipping herself away from the siblings, she turned back to see that the Fancy pony was sitting next to her now. Cool. Unlike these other ponies, he was alright in her book. Considering she was a pony who actually kept a literal book of ponies she met in her travels, that was actually saying something.

"Sounds--" she started to speak, but before she could finish, another voice kicked back in to interrupt her.

"Listen, sorry if I were soundin' unmannerly there, I'm bloody well not like that, but all i'm askin' is for yer ter quiet down, for the sake of the rest of us."

Apparently Mr. Soldier wasn't done. Serendipity sighed and then shook her head. "Yeah, I'll bet your sorry," she said rolling her eyes. "As I told the other guy, what I say and do isn't really your business," she added combatively.

"And for yor' information, I do 'ave a girlfriend!"

The soldier pony added after a while. Serendipity laughed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and she's found herself quite the catch, I can just te--"

Serendipity found herself disrupted mid sentence when the turbulence caused by a sudden storm hit a new height. The ship shook terribly and then actually started to spin, throwing Serendipity roughly against Mr. Fancy and then back against the wall. Then, all of a sudden, the ship started to fall

"Sweet bucking Celestia, what's happening?!" the lavender mare shouted, suddenly quite panicked.

Timbre Swing winced as Serendipity verbally tore into those that were complaining, though it did make him chuckle a little. He tilted his hat back with a small flash of magic while he waited for her to finish. Before they could get to talking again however, the entire ship turned hard to the side, spinning and, from the annoying feeling in his stomach, they were losing altitude as well. First he was thrown against the side of his seat, with Serendipity crashing into him, and then the ship bucked to the other side as it descended violently, throwing him against her. "Excusez moi." he apologized sheepishly, grinning a bit as he tried to get up. That only resulted in him smacking into the wall and falling to the floor. He sincerely hoped this was just a very rough patch of turbulence, and that, as the sister of the one pony that had complained theorized, they weren't crashing. Because crashing would not be very fun at all.

The force of gravity kept him pinned against the back of the seats in front of them, which was a little painful but at least he was, for the moment, unhurt. "Are you 'urt?" he asked his seatmate, the rather out-spoken pegasus from Las Pegasus.

"Yeah, and she's found herself quite the catch"

Percy was dumbstruck, she was still bickering with him, even after he made his apology? How dare she talk to him like that! Percy was thrown into a fit of completely uncharacteristic rage. Usually his fuse isn't this short, but the countless hours in this cramped, uncomfortable airship took a huge hit to his tolerance. Never in his life did he use his military service as any source of boasting or pride, but this mare managed to make it his first.

"You brat!" Percy was practically shouting. "I risked me' life for you, the least ye' could do is treat me wiv a little-"

Before he could finish, the entire airship shook violently, abruptly disrupting him. Before Percy could respond, the Airship lurched forward, then started to careen down to the surface. Percy was terrified! He quickly latched on to the seat behind him, and held on for dear life, "Oh bollocks, I think we're crashin'!" The white unicorn yelled to the top of his lungs. Then he lost his grip to the seat behind him, and was floating in mid air. Remembering his training, he waded his way to Dunder's seat, grabbed his rapier, then stabbed it right through the canopy floor. "You'll thank me later, right, trust me!" Then the airship staggered once more, and Percy's flew into a nearby window, nearly smashing it.

Then his world around him slowed down nearly to a halt. The scene around him was utter chaos, ponies were being flung about like ragdolls, some were crying, others were screaming to the top of their lungs, even some others were praying to Princess Celestia. Some of these ponies really did think it was their last moment alive. They wanted to live life, and to meet their family again. But now they might never get a chance to.

Not if Percival had anything to do about it.

Quickly acting, Percy managed to make his way to the front of the airship, before he could open the door to the cockpit, he was flung into a nearby wall once again, and Percy painfully felt his shoulder pop out of place. Nonetheless, he made his way into the cockpit, and then pressed his horn onto the windshield. Percival connected his horn to the windshield, closed his eyes shut, and with all his might, he forced out all the magic that he could, in an attempt to somehow slow down the airship.

Percy thought about his own family, after all, he was on this flight to meet his father. But now he might never get a chance too. Then he thought about his sweet little sister, Igraine. He loved her so dearly. Now he would never get a chance to see her, hug her, or even kiss her. Still maintaining the barrier, Percy started to sob. "I don't want to end like this!" He yelled to the top of his voice. Then he heard his sister's voice barley whisper in his ear...

"Don't worry, you'll live."

Rolling Thunder was listening in as all the other ponies began bickering over Celestia knows what.  He was just grateful nopony sat next to him and he could enjoy the ride in relative peace. Then turbulence disrupted the flight again.

This time the turbulence didn't stop and Rolling Thunder found himself thoroughly distracted. All of a sudden he felt the sensation of falling and was thrown into the aisle of the airship. He heard a pony shout "Oh bollocks, I think we're crashin'!" before he began sliding backwards.

Thunder quickly rammed his swords into the ground behind him and secured is hooves on them. As all this was going on he saw the other military pony going to the cockpit.  Hoping this other pony was either a pilot or cable of making a force field  he did the only thing he could think of  and he shouted as loud as he could "Everypony get down and brace yourselves".  After this he began using magic to hold all the ponies he could see into seats and forced their heads down. Then he took a reassuring but very loud tone of voice and repeatedly said "Everypony remain calm. We will be okay"

The massive shift in the ships course shot Rabble straight out from her seat and into the aisle between the rows of seats. She fell into a barrel roll as she bashed of the floor. A few pained sighs after she stopped moving Rabble attempted to make her way back to her seat for a stable position but she just couldn't seem to muster up the balance. Amidst the chaos she couldn't help but notice she lost her guitar in the mess. Though it wasn't gone for long. Suddenly Rabble gazed up from the ground to see the wooden instrument plummet towards her face. She attempted to put both hooves up to catch it but the force from its sheer speed knocked her straight back to the floor.

As the guitar fell to the ground and slid off to one end of the airship the now dazed Rabble attempted to wrap one leg around her chair. Her vison was blurred and her hearing was off but she somehow managed to keep herself steady in this new positon. Rabble outstretched one leg towards her guitar as it disappeared amongst the others. She simply let out a sad little "No..."

First time on a big airship and things did not seem to be going well.

ValenOrange1withtext.png

There were times in every colt's life when he came to the realization that he was either incredibly fortunate and lucky or that his form was the constant target of misfortune. Being born into a family so wealthy and well-off such as his would naturally make him believe he had some manner of luck aiding him, but life had thrown him a few dozen curve balls and he found himself almost always considering himself extremely unlucky. He seemed to have been born in the wrong body and the skills he had were anything bit marketable. A few weeks in the country were filled with misery, heartache, and near-death experiences on a daily basis. He was anything but fortunate, but he was also anything other than bitter about it. Life was life and while there was surely moments in which he felt as though he was being tossed about the airship of life due to turbulence, there were also others where he could relax and view the beauty of the sky.

Well, the whole airship analogy proved to be anything but that just as it came to mind. The airship shook violently and started running to meet its dearest friend and companion, the solid earth below. That was not a good thing, not at all, and now Valen was sure he was a colt destined for constant misfortune.

"Oh no No No NO NO NO!" Valen's voice grew from a soft and terrified whisper to a scream as he slid off of his cloud-filled couch that doubled as his luxurious bed in his private suite. He hit the floor and skidded towards the door, hooves trying and failing to have any traction on the floor beneath. Celestia punish the makers of RSVP Saddle horseshoes!

He slammed into the door which, as fate would have it, had not been shut previously. Another unfortunate occurrence to toss on top of the others, it seemed. The door flew open and Valen was tossed into the common seating area with the rest of the passengers. he would have loved to mingle with them but this was perhaps not the way anypony would have wanted it to go down, exactly. Valen screamed as he fell and his limbs flailed every which way just as some more authoritative figure below tried to establish calm. Yes, be calm as the airship dropped out of the sky. That was sure to work. Maybe it would have if good luck had intervened on everypony's behalf, but instead it was Valen who came to the sinister rescue.

As he flailed to and fro, screaming and generally being a nuisance, one of his legs reared up and accidentally bucked straight into the head of the pony down below who was trying to establish calm. He must have had a hard head because no matter what happened to the victim of fate's attack- Valen couldn't see in his tumbling mess of movement- Valen just dropped down onto two swords. Not the sharp, pointy ends, but the blunt sides. The force shook them free of their placement on the ground and they rolled and clacked against the surface until they fell in between the minute cracks of the airship's separation of passenger and open space, holding steady in their position as the air that necessarily had started to seep into the cracking airframe suctioned them against the cracks. As for the unicorn Valen had bucked in the head, Valen could only hope he was okay. At best, he would likely not have the ability to forcibly make everypony duck and cover*. At worst, he'd be knocked out. Valen lifted his head up, vision woozy even as he started to slide backwards. He finally regained himself just as his flan was halfway up a wall.

"OH SWEET CELESTIA WHAT'S HAPPENING!?"

Dunder Blust was listening to their bickering quickly escalate into angry yelling. The mention of a girlfriend made him feel the slightest bit lonely as he remembered his own. He reached into a saddlebag to pull out the picture of him and Ice Storm, them both smiling. He couldn't help but smile, feeling almost disconnected to all the hostility around him. At least hooves weren't flying or metal clashing, or else he would have to calm some ponies down whether they liked it or not. Anyway, this was an airship and nothing bad ever seemed to happen on those.

When the turbulence picked up and some things began to get bucked around. He didn't say anything, he only looked at the walls. Was there something crashing into them? Or were they crashing into something? The thought got him sick to his stomach. But the feeling didn't last too long as the turbulence picked up with a familiar feeling along with his stomach churning.

Hedidn't look at the other ponies. He got down and laid across the two seats, holding the picture tight in his fetlock and close to his chest. With his other hoof and wings he kept himself on the chair. To be honest, he forgot what to do in this sort of situation. He couldn't even remember if they had gone over it. The blood pumping heavy through his veins and the adrenaline rush of it all wasn't allowing him to remember very well.

The airship continued to spin downwards, heading towards the ground at a speed that could only be described as dangerous. Sparks despnately tried to hold onto his seat as he attempted to cast a spell, any spell, to save the ship, his horn only producing pathetic blue sparks rather than producing any actual results. He let out a frustrated groan as he remembered exactly how he had gotten his ridiculous nickname. Sparks had never been the most talented Unicorn in the field of magic, hence why he had turned to technology rather than conventional magic.

He closed his eyes, fully expecting the end to come, before there was a loud crash noise as the ship came to a very abrupt halt, sending Sparks flying over his seat towards the front of the ship.

The ship let out one last creaking noise, before all was silent.

Soon after her cry, Serendipity came to the same conclusion everyone else had. There was no saving this; they were gonna crash. Serendipity stared off in disbelief for a second; she was Las Pegasus' luckiest mare! This kind of thing simply did not happen to her. A second later, she realized that she had wings and thus should be able to fly free of the crash to safety. The realization was moot, however, as the force of gravity on the ship kept her from standing. When a sudden movement threw Mr. Fancy right at her, her chances of going anywhere, wings or not, became even more slim.

The ship spun, rocked and mostly just fell. Serendipity could see some of the passengers scrambling. Mr. Soldier went to the front to apply some kind of magic buffer, perhaps to lessen the impact of the inevitable. Another unicorn, also bearing the mark of a soldier from his armor, tried to calm the passengers and instructed them to get down until a small colt kicked him accidentally as he started to flail and roll about along the ship. The siblings seemed notably stressed, another mare a ways just seemed sad, while a second young colt looked despnate to save the situation even if it was entirely futile. One pegasus stallion seemed fairly calm, if a little confused, given the situation. Mr. Fancy, kept it rather cool, apologizing to Serendipity and even asking her if she was unhurt.

"Yeah... I'm fine," she said as she still struggled to get out of her seat. "I just wish I could get out of here before we--"

It was just then that the sound of so much metal all at once bending and snapping at an impact resonated loudly all about. The ship shook violently as parts of it collapsed and debris shot out. They hadn't fallen so very far enough to reach ground level yet, so this came as something of a surprise; perhaps the ship had found its way into some high mountains?

Serendipity might have pondered this further, but she didn't have a chance to. The incredible force of the ship coming to its rather sudden halt threw the unrestrained pegasus mare actively seeking escape from her seat, past her seat mate and violently out against the opposite top corner of the airship's carriage at alarming speed. Excruciating pain, along with the distinct crunch of a bone cleanly snapping, ripped through her right wing, which took the brunt of the blow. As she collapsed onto the ground again, she cried out sharply, hardly aware of the things around her.

Percival screamed to the very top of his lungs. has he forced out nearly all of his magic on the windshield. In an effort to keep his horn on the glass, Percy tightly gripped the control panel in front of him with his good foreleg, and then pressed even further. The droning sound of the Airship slicing the wind grew more intense as they neared the surface. His previous state of total hysteria was calmed by the voice of his sister. Percival was still unsure of whether it was actually her, or if it was just his imagination, but it calmed him nonetheless. Remembering why he was here in the first place, the white unicorn exerted his magic harder. This caused painful rings of red to form around his eyes, and the muscles in his body to strain in agony. Percy felt like he was about to outright explode. Just then, Percy felt a foreign object painfully fall on his head, nearly breaking his concentration.

As it tumbled down to the dashboard in front of him, Percy was just able to make out what seemed to be a guitar. Still making contact with the glass, he perched his head down to pick up the object with his teeth. But due to his adrenaline rush, he bit down severely hard. Percy felt the wood dig into his teeth, using it as a way to avert the intense pain.

Percival wanted to give up, he wanted to cease the affliction that was being done to him. Then Percy remembered what he was in the cockpit for. He was here, to somehow save these ponies on this airship. He had know idea how he would do it, or what in Celestia was on the other side of that windshield, but he wanted to make an effort, a commitment, for the stallions, mares, and even foals on this airship.

"Conshidher fiths, m' lasth ac' of servith!"

With that, Percival pushed even harder, the rings of red that once tinged his eyes, then developed into a full on white, which then slowly engulfed his entire vision. His eyes were glowing. The pain in his body warped into a creeping, tingling sensation, then to complete nullity. He had lost every sensation in his body. His hearing culminated into absolute silence, with only a distant ringing noise.

Percival could just barely make out a treetop, before his alabaster vision instantly turned black.

Rolling Thunder had been doing his best to help the ponies in the passenger compartment, but as the crash continued he felt something like being bucked in the head hard. His helmet had taken most of the impact but he fell over on his side in a complete daze.

As he tried to regain his bearings he could hear panic surrounding him; then, as if almost to spite him, a sudden movement of the airship smashed him into a wall, leaving him barely conscious and barely aware of his surroundings.

Just when he thought everything was over, the airship hit the ground in a final sending him flying head over hooves, forward into a quite spectacular collision with another wall.

As he lay on what he assumed was the floor he muttered "Father, I guess I may be seeing you sooner than expected" before finally collapsing into an armor clad heap.
