(Canterlot) Speakeasy Night Club (Version 2) Open

Recommended Posts

The outside looked like any old run down warehouse. Abandoned and useless, no window, no signs, and no real entrance. But for those that were clever enough, or special enough for an invitation, they would find something amazing on the inside.

The Speakeasy. was built during the days of prohibition as, well as its name describes, a speakeasy. It was a go to place for young ponies to get a drink, party, socialize, and just enjoy themselves in a time when the rest of Canterlot society forced them to do otherwise. In all the years she was acting as an underground pub she was never found out. After the days of prohibition ended the owner decided to play the hand he was dealt and the pub expanded to a night club. She already had a reputation in the underground, but now the knowledge of her existence could be made more public. So after a year of renovation she was reopened as an invite only night club, specifically jazz and swing. Don't expect to buy your way in though, its your character that gets you in. So sit back, have a drink, dance a little, and enjoy.

(Okay the last Speakeasy didn't go too well, so we're just going to try again. Its open to all but please try and keep things in order so there wont be any confusion.)

The click clack of hooves against cobble reverberated off the walls of nearby houses as white unicorn made her way to the speakeasy. She had been there once before, and so she knew exactly where she was going. Slowly, the houses turned into buisinesses, mostly closed for the night. Eventually though, she came up to the warehouse and walked up to the side door.

The doorman of course recognized her right away, and let her inside.

Princess Luna followed her Earth pony companion, having really no idea where they were headed. It was a place called 'The Speakeasy', she knew, but she'd never been there before in her life. Not that that should have been surprising, most, if not all, of the buildings in Equestria were new to Luna, and indeed, even some of the towns altogether.

The sun was just starting to set, and the streets were nearly empty. Even in a thousand years, nothing had changed. There would likely only be a hoofful of ponies at this 'night club' anyway. Luna had low expectations of the event altogether, but, being polite as ever, she would never let on to that.

It didn't take long for them to arrive, and Sherlock was waiting for them. Luna was a bit surprised at first when the wall magically revealed a door. "Simple illusion spell", Sherlock said. Luna had already assumed as much before he spoke, being well rehearsed in the subject of magic.

Another pony Luna did not know revealed himself, and was at first surprised by her presence. Luna backed off a few steps, a bit unsure of herself. Her reputation was not without blemish, and she knew that fact all too well. But, even with a few words from Sherlock, he did not seem wholly reassured. Still, he bowed respectively, and Luna acknowledged him with a nod before entering.

The Speakeasy. For ages, Timbre Swing had wanted in, and he had finally gotten his invitation. A couple of high-profile acts, like an impromptu duet with the Sapphire Shores out in the middle of a Canterlot park, or his recent performance at the Manehattan Music Festival had garnered him enough attention to hit the club. He wasn't important enough to be an act in it, but he had definitely attracted somepony's eye.

And for that, he was grateful.

He had his usual fedora stuck jauntily on top of his head, resting against his horn, but for once was not accompanied by the perpetual squeak of his contrebasse's wheel (He'd tried to fix it but it just kept coming back). He wasn't here to play, after all.

He got to the door and was let in after a quick check of the guest list. Just like that, the wall became a door, and Timbre Swing grinned. This was it. Moment of truth.

Quite a few things happened at once. First, he was struck by the fact that he was finally in the Speakeasy. It was just as cool as he'd imagined it, filled with some of the elite of Canterlot. There was swing music in the air, which made him smile (finally, a place that fully appreciated his style!) too. The second thing that happened was that Timbre Swing was immediately starstruck. Not far from the door he'd entered from was somepony he would never, ever, have expected to see here. Princess Luna herself. He realized after a moment he was staring (and quite rightly so), and quickly swept his hat off his head with a glow of bright blue magic, bowing a bit. "Princesse," he greeted, automatically in Fancy (that was how out of it he was), before turning and heading right to the bar. He wanted to get a drink first, then settle in and let the Speakeasy fall into place before him. Right now, it was too overwhelming.

"A Black Stallian, please," he ordered from the bar, his usual drink. He paid his bits and sat on one of the stools, turning it around so he could watch the crowd, and see what was up. It was different than the bars he was used to, and so Timbre Swing wasn't quite sure where to even begin.

The Pegasus known as 'Fire Walker' was a little confused as Luna and her companion had lead them to a rather shady looking building, one which she had seen before in the past. It appeared to be an old warehouse which was long abandoned. As the pony stared to worry that they had gotten lost, a simple spell revealed that this building was something else. She dared not to speak or ask the princess where they were being led to, as it was not her place to question, but to only serve.

The red coated pony adorned from head to hooves in official Royal Equestrian Army armor strolled in after Princess Luna. She wore the badge of an officer, particularly one of an first lieutenant and kept the usual neutral expression on her face as she slowly made her way into the strange new place. Beyond her stiff, expressionless exterior, was a rather gleeful little pony. While things had not been going her way during the past month, she was pleasantly surprised by her Captain when he revealed that the duty sheet had been changed at the last minute. She would instead spend the night escorting Princess Luna herself to wherever the royal pony had wished to go this fine evening as opposed to a typical night on patrol. This was a true honor indeed, and she would not be surprised if her father, the old Major had something to do with it. He knew she was feeling rather down in the dumps after her recent breakup and after pulling a few strings was able to land her a rather cushiony but memorable job of attending to the princess.

She needed to keep her eyes peeled for any shady characters, and this fedora-wearing unicorn looked a bit on the dodgy side. She gave him a suspicious look as he greeted Luna and wandered off. This had all the major markings of a proper night club, one that was a bit fancier than the one she would normally attend to. It lacked the hominess of Fillydelphia's 'Pony; or the middle class charm of Canterlot's own 'Ponyland', but she knew if she was not standing watch over the former Nightmare Moon, they probably would have never let her in through the doorway into this fancy establishment.

Granola Gracie would have never found herself in a place like this. Nope. Not in a thousand lunar years. The Speakeasy was for cool, classy ponies in Canterlot. And not only was Granola not a very well known or a classy mare, she wasn't even from Canterlot. Her day started with a long trek through Whitetail that ended up in Canterlot looking for a place to lodge. Would she believe that the Princess, the less popular one, would be around to greet her. Yes greet. As in, run into, make a scene, cry a river, and ask for permission into the royal garden. None of which was a lie until we got to the part of the Princess having as much fun. Granola could never be sure of that.

But little did the brown earth pony know that she and the Princess would be interrupted by the most handsome looking stallion Granola had seen in years. It drove her to a whole new kind of excitement. Granola was wondering where it would go next. And somehow, even though Granola may not know personally any other pony on this private level, other than her new BFF princess, Granola was allowed inside by the quickest luck imaginable.

Granola melted in her seat at the bar as she listened to the music play. And that stallion--he was singing! He was a true gentlecolt and totally had Nola's heart on a string. And she would remain there for the moment, until Sherlock either pulled her closer, or someone cut the string.

 • 2 weeks later...

The night was cool and clear, the stars shined overhead as Sherlock escorted his two companions to his favorite night club. Princess Luna and Granola had run into him..... well he ran into them... earlier that day and to make up for his rudeness he invited the two to the Speakeasy. Hoping not to disappoint and to show the princess the joys of the modern Canterlot nights he lead them through the entrance and into the main hall. A large bar in the back with ample seating, further in tables and chairs for the ponies that preferred them. Next to the tables was the dance floor and the stage with a full jazz band playing a soothing slow song. There were already a few ponies on the dance floor already enjoying each other's company. Sherlock guided the two of them through the crowd back to the bar retelling the history of the club. "Originally it was a storage house for a local factory. They made carriage parts and the like, but then there was a dip in the economy and it shut down. Soon after the prohibition laws were put into place underground clubs and bars called "speakeasies" opened up all over. This is one of the most famous.... or infamous. It never really got itself a name, foalks just called it "the place" or "the speakeasy" but it was the place in Canterlot to go if a pony wanted a drink. After the laws were repealed the place ended up staying open as an invite only club." They made their way to the back of the bar, many ponies greeted Sherlock with a smile or wave and he returned their hellos in kind, sometimes stopping to shake a hoof or two. They arrived at the bar and the bartender looked up and smiled, sliding Sherlock a glass of scotch on the rocks. "Your usual Mr. Hooves, and for your two friends?"

Before Luna could answer Granola, they had arrived. Luna followed along, still unsure of herself. She had no idea what she was in for, and it seemed Granola didn't either. She didn't know if she'd find odd rituals or a simple carefree atmosphere. Perhaps it was just a group of ponies who liked studying the stars—it was called a night club, after all.

Her eyes went wide and her mouth hung open as she looked around the main room. It was so much larger and, well... different than she'd imagined. There were also quite a few more ponies here than Luna thought there would be. It looked like a party—at night! What in Equestria could prompt such a gathering?

Luna took a moment to compose herself, always thinking about appearances. She had really only expected a few ponies. Crowds didn't always end well with her presence nowadays, sometimes just leading to mass hysteria. Luna recalled with dread the events of Nightmare Night in Ponyville. But, at the very least she had two friends here to help her appear more normal. One, she remembered, happened to be the owner. Perhaps that would set everypony's minds at ease.

Dunder trotted down the Canterlot street in the dark. He was the only one headed down the poorly lit street, just how he liked it. He'd rather avoid crowds. Anyway, the road he traveled was not often tread. It led to nowhere... at least, most ponies thought. Anyway, the walk was relaxing. Only his sword dangling at his side and some contents in his saddlebag shuffling around and the light "clip-clop" of his hooves as he trotted down the road.

His very good friend Sherlock Hooves told him about this place in Canterlot in Dunder's last visit to the stallion's apartment. Dunder reviewed the instructions over and over in his head to convince himself that he was on the right track. After traveling down the road for long enough, he found the place. It HAD to be the place. Sherlock wouldn't send Dunder off with bad directions. Anyway, this placed matched the description well. An abandoned looking warehouse that looked like it had seen much better days.

He trotted up and followed Sherlock's words. He trotted around to the hidden door that soon revealed itself. He trotted inside, surprised to see the stallions standing there. After a quick exchange of words and verifying of Dunder's identity, the pegasus was let in.

Dunder trotted in, surprised this many ponies were there. He gave a quick scan of the crowd, standing at the entrance when he saw the extraordinarily tall pony with wings and a horn. It was Luna! And wait... were her guard's wing's red? Dunder's heart swelled with joy as the thought of it being one of his favorite mares filled his head. Then he saw a black and grey mane standing near all of them. Possibly Sherlock? The three ponies were too much of a chance for him not to check. He trotted over through the crowd, headed for the group of the three ponies. When he reached them, his heart filled with joy and his face grew wide with a grin. "Fire! Sherlock!" He said happily. He looked at Luna and bowed for the Princess and greeted her professionally with a, "My lady."

Timbre Swing leaned back against the bar, the dark drink in the glass floating next to him. He took occasional sips of the coffee flavoured drink, watching the newcomers. A fiery red mare in armour, probably one of Luna's guards, a brown mare, and another pegasus, this one a light brown. They all seemed to be part of Luna's...entourage? Strange, but then again, he'd never seen the Princesses out and about, or at anything other than a public, important function. He almost forgot at times they were (mostly) regular ponies like he, and would have friends and nights out.

He finished off his drink and set it down to watch the stallion preforming on stage. Oh, what he wouldn't give to be able to stand there, dressed in a dapper suit with his fedora and contrebasse, keeping the audience enthralled and jumping. This was a jazz club after all, and if there was something Timbre Swing was excellent at, it was swing jazz.

" 'e want to be Equestriano, Equestria~ano..." he mumbled quietly to himself, a song he'd been working on, and one of the only ones he sang in Equestrian, due to poor handle on the language. He heard a voice off to his side and turned with a start. The group he'd observed at the door was there at the bar, not a few feet from him.

And there he'd been, singing to himself like an insane pony. Still, he composed himself rapidly, tapping the brim of his fedora with a hoof, in case they caught them staring at them. He wanted to be polite, after all.

He looked back at the bartender with a bit of a grin. "Une autre, s'il-vous plait. It's going to be a long night for me," he said, paying for a second drink but not touching it quite yet. He had all the time in the world at the Speakeasy tonight and he was going to enjoy it, and would win his bits back later. He normally would be preforming but not tonight, because he didn't want to cut his time at the club short.

Deciding he'd just get it done with, he floated his drink over and downed the second quickly, leaving it on the bar along with a tip and trotting over to the group. "Bonsoir," he greeted casually. He hopped onto the stool next to Granola Gracie, his old habits returning in full force. "Especially to you, Madame. You all look...'ow you say...starstruck? First time at zee Speakeasy?" He asked casually, directing the first comment toward Granola. "Moi aussi. And my apologies if I am interrupting, I can leave," he added. Some ponies found his thick Fancy accent a bit distracting, if not downright annoying.

Fire Walker gave the princess a decent enough amount of space as she stood guard, but this was still the nearest she had been to any of the three princesses. She tried not to stare at the royal pony, but she could not believe that such a gentle looking creature could have been the dreaded being once known as Nightmare Moon. She had so many questions that she wanted to ask of Princess Celestia's younger sister, but that would not be proper. The dark coated co-ruler of Equestria had her own companions that she was to entertain, or at least she was trying to. Luna looks somewhat confused , which made the Pegasus want to help her even more.

After clearing her throat, she spoke up, “Your highness, I do beg your pardon, but as both your royal escort and guide of sorts, I will be more than happy to answer any question you have of this sort of establishment or any other location in Canterlot. My family has lived in here for generations, always serving this great city and it would be my greatest honor to assist you in anyway.”, she smiled as she bowed her head, hoping that at least sounded right. The mare would be a helpful pony tonight and would keep both the Princess informed and keep away dodgy fellows away. Even if it turned out to be a dull night, she could at least get to brag that she spent it with a royal person and she almost wanted to hear what her friends would have to say about that. Dunder would probably.......

She stopped her line of thought when she noticed a very familiar brown stallion enter the bar. “Oh feathers.”, she muttered under her breath.

Granola walked with Sherlock and Luna to the bar where they took seats and Sherlock order drinks for them. "Oh," Granola loved his charm, "why thank you. You certainly are a gentlecolt, aren't you?" Granola gave an awkward wink. "I'll have an herbsaint frappé."

Suddenly, another stallion sat on the other side of Granola. This stallion surely wasn't shy as he displayed his strange accent and showcased his personality and forwardness. However, Granola's attention was still drawn to Sherlock. While look at the brown pony, Granola spoke to the new stallion. "Yep, this is my first time. Hi!" Granola gave a short turn of her head towards the stallion while grinning with her eyes closed. And then she maintained her study on Sherlock.

The bar tender nodded to Granola then turned his attention to the princess, "And you, your highness?"

In the mean time Sherlock turned to notice the bold stallion's advances towards Granola and chuckled, her admiration of him was not lost to him but he was never the type to flirt, and to be fair he wouldn't really know how. Though rather than start trouble in his favorite establishment he decided to just observe for now, if things progressed too much onto Miss Granola he would intervene, though the young earth filly seamed like the type that was capable of taking care of herself. Strongly built, worked out doors, somewhat shy but she still had the boldness to spend her time with the princess and make friends with her.

Just then his ears heard the familiar voice of his flat mate Dunder holler in the distance. He looked and waved a hoof at his friend, one of the only one's he had. "Glad you could finally get here. Spent the night checking your look in the mirror Dunder?" He turned his attention to the three fillies at the bar. "Dunder these are my guests, you know princess Luna, and apparently you know Miss Fire Walker. And this is Miss Granola. Ladies and your highness, this is my friend Dunder Blust. What are you having Dunder, its my tab..... go easy tonight we don't need a repeat of the last time you had a bender."

Luna nodded courteously, acknowledging the brown pony that had appeared before the group of four. Though she was glad to have a night out, at a place that was actually open this late, she was a little apprehensive of getting too much attention. Of course, she was a princess, so she should have expected nothing less. She was Sherlock's guest, so she would allow him to dictate how much attention given her was enough. It was his establishment, after all.

“Good evening.” she greeted the green Unicorn that had just arrived, along with the brown Pegasus that was already present. “I am afraid that I have a prior engagement with these two ponies.” she gestured to the companions she had entered with. “But I do appreciate you coming to greet me. I would be willing to offer you a little of my time, so long as my friends do not mind.” she turned questioningly to Sherlock and Granola.

“Thank you for the offer. For tonight, though, this shall be our only stop. But I may take you up on the offer for a more thorough tour of the city, someday.” she smiled kindly at Fire Walker. “I'm sorry to keep you out so late.” Her demeanor changed to sympathetic when she realized the mare had been on duty for most of the afternoon until now. “You're probably tired. Can I get you something?” Surely a guard type such as this red mare would appreciate a drink after a hard day's work.

But when the bartender asked for her preference of beverage, she was at a loss. "Oh, uh... what would you suggest?" she turned to the brown Earth pony host. She wasn't very much for alcohol, except perhaps a nice bottle of wine from time to time, but that was also in the privacy of her own home. And not ordering something, when she had such a gracious host, would be rude.

Fleur took a seat at one of the tables, glancing around the room. She was looking for Sherlock. Of course, that had been the reason for her to come here in the first place. Luckily, he eventually did come, along with a friend or two it seemed like. Not hesitating in the slightest, she walked over to the group that had gathered. "Bonjour", she said, tapping sherlock on the shoulder.

Oooh, a rather mild rejection from the one mare. Oh well. Timbre wasn't put off all that much by it, and at the moment felt a little bit odd, and rather stupid. The alcohol had definitely acted as a replacement for actual courage, so here he was accidentally barging in on a group of friends out for a night on the town, and attempting to pick up one of them.

He did look over at Luna when she spoke though, giving her a respectful tilt of the hat when she was done. "Je m'excuse, Princesse. I am usually a little more polite zen zis. I must say it 'as been an, uh...absolute pleasure to make you're acquaintance," he said, and quite sincerely, too. And now he'd have to be on his best behaviour, lest he ruin a royal night out.

"I'll be leaving you to your evening. Bonsoir a tout," Timbre Swing said. He was about to get up again when another pony walked over, this one he recognized on sight (but not ever having met her). Who else but one of the most well known, and beautiful, actresses around...Fleur-de-Lys.

"Et bonsoir a vous, Madamme." He wasn't worried about his usual accidental slips into his native tongue. He had a feeling she spoke it, and if she didn't, it was fairly simple to understand he was greeting her. Timbre Swing got up from the bar, taking a glance back at the bartender. "I don't suppose zere's every open mic for lesser known acts?" he half-joked. If there was, he might be able to get some recognition out of the night, despite his earlier attempts to not work.

"T-that would be most wonderful your highness. Most wonderful indeed.", the mare gave off a polite smile as she bowed once again, "As for a drink, while I do fancy one from time to time, it's generally against the rules to drink alcohol while on duty, and I generally prefer not to eat or drink at all while on my hooves, but I thank you once again.", she couldn't help but notice Fleur de Lis from where she stood. While she never spoke to the unicorn before, she had seen the obnoxiously gorgeous mare at the side of one of Canterlot's more likeable celebrity-socilates, Fancypants. With both Princess Luna and the other mare in the same building, the poor Pegasus was starting to feel rather ugly.

The moment Luna turned her attention to their host, Fire Walker kept her eyes on the princess, but whispered, "Dunders...Dunders.", if that didn't get his attention, one of the cardboard cup cozies would do the trick, "What the hay you doing here? And if you know this owner-guy..Why the heck haven't you taken me tot his place? That settles it, when we train together next time, I am so not holding back. You're gonna get the full pony and you better expect a whopping.", she added with a wink.

Dunder nodded at the dark brown mare who greeted him, "Hello!" He responded happily. Then he turned to Luna, "Well, Iyou're a very busy mare being a princess. I'll leave you to your own business." He said and smiled.

He then faced the brown stallion "Shut up, Sherlock, you know I don't have to try to look good! And I was cleaning the counter from the mess you made." Dunder said and chuckled and gave Sherlock a light punch on the arm. "Anyway, you ca order me a soda... and you know I'll pay for my own drinks. I don't want you not being able to pay your part of the rent this month." He explained and let his eyes catch sight of a tall white mare with a pink mane. He remembered her. Sherlock said something about her and how they were good friends... His attention was drawn away when he heard Fire's sweet voice call his name.

He looked over at the red mare, and could tell by her tone that it was pretty down low. He listened to her, his ear twitching a few times. He smiled when he caught her playful jist of what she had to say, and added his own. "Sorry, we had too many cool places to go... Didn't cross my mind to come here." He said, "And if you're not holding back next time, I suppose we should push wrestling practise up to next time." He said and gave her a wink and a kiss on the nose.

Luna asked Granola if she would suggest a drink. Granola wasn't really a drinker of the spirits often, but she knew her drink alphabet. And she knew that if any drink is good for someone, it's a drink that speaks well of their personality. Granola thought for a moment. "Um, oh, um, Oh! I know!" Granola turned to the bartender and ordered for Luna. "She'll have a nightmare."

As Granola sipped the straw of her own drink, which was very good by the way, she watched the exchange between Sherlock and Dunder. They seemed to be friends. The kind of friends that jab each other in the shoulder every time they see each other. Granola would not want to participate, but she did enjoy the interaction. It looked like like fun. And since Sherlock was able to have fun with other stallions, she wondered what kinds of fun Sherlock would have with mares. Would it even be different?

Granola waved at the sound of Sherlock's introduction for her. Granola spoke up. "Hi! Are you guys roommates? That must be cool being roommates with a colt like Sherlock. I wish I ha-." Granola stopped herself, just in time to keep from embarrassing herself, and just in time to notice that Dunder seemed to have a special somepony. "Oh! Are you guys dating? That's so cute!"

Granola address Sherlock and decided she would do some information hunting. And she would try to do it in the sneakiest way possible. Asking obvious questions. "So Sherlock, where's your ponyfriend?"

Sherlock chuckled at his flat mate a little, noticing the playful advances the young guard made to him. He took another sip of his scotch when Granola asked about his ponyfriend. As he was about to answer he was interrupted by a tap on the shoulder and a familiar Prench voice behind him; turning to see Fleur he smiled, "Fleur! Darling quelle agréable surprise. C'est si agréable de vous voir." He reached out and gave the mare a hug and then turned to the rest of the party. "Here allow me to introduce everypony. Fleur this is Miss Granola visiting from Ponyvillie, my flat mate Dunder I believe you've met. Miss Fire Walker one of her majesty's royal guards, and of course Princess Luna." He turned back to face Fleur, "My friends this is Miss Fleur De Lis." After introductions Sherlock walked back to the bar and waved to the bartender, "A glass of wine for the lady please." The bartender nodded and left for the wine cellar, Sherlock turned just in time to see that well sauced stallion that was attempting to flirt with Granola start his work on Fleur. The stallion was persistent he had to give him that, however his attempts were beginning to where on Sherlock's patients. When the bar keep returned with the glass Sherlock took it and made his way back to Fleur and the group.

Luna nodded at the green Unicorn, politely dismissing him if that was his wish. She silently decided to let Sherlock decide who she would and wouldn't socialize with at length, seeing as she and Granola were his guests. It would be rude to him to turn all her attention to everypony else in the area, but at the same time, she didn't wish to be rude to the other patrons by declining their presence at their table. Well, life was full of hard decisions, especially for a princess. At any rate, if they could forgive her for trying to bring about eternal night, was snubbing somepony really such a big offense?

“Well then sit down!” Luna joked to Fire Walker when she mentioned she wouldn't drink on her hooves. She pulled Fire Walker closer with a wing, trying to encourage her to sit her butt in a seat. She knew how loyal guards could be, but she also knew that they were still ponies, and prone to normal needs like hunger, thirst, and rest. “Besides, I'm sure they can find something non-alcoholic for you, even if it's simply water.” She didn't figure anypony would dare deny a princess whatever she felt like ordering, even if it was something they didn't have. They'd just find a way.

Luna wasn't sure if she should reprimand the brown Pegasus from speaking so harshly to the owner of this establishment. The two seemed to be close, but it was hard to be sure if he was being threatening, or just playful. Banter between friends was still something she was trying to figure out. Although this wouldn't be the first time one pony had insulted another in front of royalty, if that turned out to be the case. Well, she could wait until Sherlock hopefully cleared things up, and would come to his aid if necessary.

“I should have expected as much.” Luna mumbled when Granola ordered her drink. Well, she should have known that her past would not be so easily escapable, even if she thought she was just going to chat with some friends. Well, it was going to be awhile before the recent memory faded from ponykind, so just like the changing culture, she should try to get used to it. Anyway... the suggested beverage wasn't half bad!

“Good to meet you, Fleur.” Luna greeted the white mare that had appeared. Everypony here seemed to already be acquainted with Sherlock. She supposed he was here often, being the owner, and many of the ponies present must have been regulars. Well, perhaps Luna shouldn't have been so worried about hogging all the attention, when Sherlock was doing a good job of that himself.

The French mare politely smiled as timbre swing greeted her, and then turned her attention back to Sherlock. "Sherlock! So good to see you!" She glanced around at all the other ponies there, her gaze lingering on Luna for a moment before everypony started making introductions. She introduced herself politely to them all, and took a drink of wine upon the detective's return.

"Yes your highness. Sitting down right now.", the Pegasus guard bowed her head as she found the nearest place to rest her rump. While sitting down on the job normally would have gotten her written up by her captain, she was doing this by direct orders by the co-ruler of Equestria and who in the right mind would question that? Still, it felt good to get off her hooves for a moment. Even before she was sent to stand at the princess's side, she had been up and about since early morning, from taking her little sister to the train station for her field trip to doing all manner of errands for her captain, it was a pretty busy day.

Now here she was, sitting in some odd little theme tavern with one of the most powerful beings in all of the known world and her stallion-friend. Almost felt like a strange dream. Hopefully if it was a dream, she could at least not have to worry about paying for her drink. She quickly ordered a mug of non-alcoholic caramel apple spice cider and watched the small gathering of ponies as they interacted with the princess.

Sherlock smiled at Fleur and gave her a quick wink as he took a sip of his own drink, then turned his attention to Dunder. "Dunder! You never told me that you had a marefriend, and you never taken her here? Now that I would expect from me, right Fleur?" He said while giving her a sly smile. "I mean I'm so absent minded about such things, but you should be more gentlecoltly to your lady." Sherlock took another drink and smiled smugly to himself. Being one of Sherlock's only friends Dunder was often the target of his jabs. But they were always in good fun. After finishing his drink he turned attention to Luna's guard, "And my apologies to you miss." He extended his hoof to her "Sherlock Hooves, at your service, not sure if you've heard of me, its more than a possibility that Dunder has never mentioned me. He's ashamed of me you see, we go on our adventures across Canterlot, solving cases and making up for Trotland Yard's incompetence. But he still doesn't like to be associated with such an infamous private detective." He then turned his attention to his two guests, "Well your highness, Miss Granola, how are you two enjoying yourselves so far?"

After Granola's question got interrupted, she fell into a state of daydreaming while starring at Sherlock. She found herself thinking she was wondering around in a new garden. This garden had a cottage, fit for a couple ponies to live in. The ceiling was a stain-proof green house covering, and inside the house grew several plants of all herbs, spices, and vegetation. It warmed Granola's heart and she fell in love with this place. She walked around the house discovering areas until finally she can to a study room that had a working fireplace. The wood burning and crackling as it glowed and warmed the room. And in front of the fire, was a lovely chair. And from this chair, Sherlock go up in his houserobe, smoked a breathe of pipe and looked at Granola.

Highness?

Granola shook her head to wake up, and then looked at Sherlock who had obviously just asked her if she was enjoying herself. She blushed a moment and then spoke. "Oh yes, I'm having a wonderful time! All of the drinks and the talking and the drinks, and uh, you know the other stuff." Granola blushed intensely as she didn't know where the conversation would go from here. She would probably make a fool of herself eventually, but for now she was enjoying the idea of her new stallion friend inviting her to enjoy herself a little more. So Granola scooted her chair closer to Sherlock. She blushed again, looked away, and giggled.
