Hey everypony!

It's been asked once in the past and brought up again on Skype if I would be interested in running a military training-type roleplay(s), so I'm going to go ahead and put up what I had in mind if such an RP were to happen, and we'll see if anypony is interested.

Royal Equestrian Army Training Academy and Citizen Leaders Camp

Your pony would be an civilian pony within the REA's 75th RTC (Recruit Training Company), going through a special program designed to allow civilians to go through military training, called Citizen Leaders Camp (CLC). This camp will allow them to train alongside REA recruits and give them the unique opportunity to better themselves and see what a regimented life is all about. They will have had to have paid a fee, signed a waiver, and given a list of what to bring and what not to bring.

-Full Metal Jacket nonsense (insane recruits, overabundance of verbal abuse, etc etc)

-COMBAT TRAINING

"But Magi! The whole point of going to basic training is learning how to fight!"

Negative.

There is a LOT more to the military than grunt fighting. Seeing as this RP series would take place in the Mane RP, it will abide by its rules of no combat or violence, despite its military theme. If you're looking to make your pony John Rampone by end of this RP, it isn't for you.

But I wouldn't burst that many bubbles without telling you what this WOULD offer!

Problem solving would involve a series of challenges your pony and their team would have to complete in order to accomplish their objective. Obstacle courses, puzzles, navigation, and things of that nature. Team-building would also develop in these times, though it would also include ice breakers and social interaction. Making friends, building comradeship and trust!

Of course, competition could be thrown in for some extra fun! It's your team versus the other team to see who can complete the test first, or whatever the condition for victory may be.

Shenanigans? In the military? You heard right.

The training staff will mess with you, so sometimes the recruits will mess with them right back. Discretely of course.

Obstacle courses and such can be fun, and open plenty of opportunities for silliness. But not too much! Lock it up!

Pranks and spirit missions! The other squad humiliated you during that last challenge? Time for some friendly payback after lights-out.

As you can see, this RP will be more about having a good time in a military training environment, with some seriousness, as is needed. It's military ponies, not military robots. You can make an entirely new character or enlist a current one, it doesn't matter much to me. So long as you're looking to work hard, have fun, and look good! That mane better be in regs, soldier!

Alrighty, so others are interested! Enough to play a decent game anyway! Please feel free to get your characters ready for boot! Of course, with entering the military comes a background investigation! Post your character's sheet here so that they may be added to the roster!

I should've realized beforehand that not everyone will be able to commit a character to strictly a military lifestyle. SO, now introducing CLC (Citizen Leaders Camp)! Civilian ponies can now apply to go through REA training alongside military recruits (This way those who are actually willing to have a pony enlist and go through a genuine training experience can still do so!). All civilian participants in the 75th RTC will be marked with the rank CL (Citizen Leader).

Spread the word, and we'll see if we can get those slots filled!

And over a month later, I have an update XD

Still accepting more trainees (military and civilian alike, read above!), and hoping to get at least 6. We have 5, currently. Any more than that would be awesome, but 6 will be enough to start.

Also reducing the size to two squads until we get more to distribute, if we get more.

Gray action lines or dust indicates movement of the tornado. It's supposed to represent her odd creativity and imagination. When she got it she was trying to create something up because she was bored. She spun in circles as fast as she could (for a very young filly so not very fast) in the rain creating little dew drops. After the rain cloud just moved away, the drops created a rainbow. She came up with a story idea that she had created a rainbow tornado, but she realized that she created a normal tornado. So she made a story picture book and told everypony her "tale." Everypony knew it was just a tale, but loved her story. She was happy that everypony loved it and received her cutie mark.[/colour]

History:[colour=#282828] Spin Art was born in Cloudsdale and has never moved. Her life growing up was hard. Had a few friends of one, but she "wondered what friendship could be." She feared that everypony secluded her because she was a little odd and a little mean since she wanted to be alone. It was said she was grayer than her usual dark blue/gray coat, until she received her cutie mark. (Probably like when you get sick, some mane strands turn white.) Her parents are Speed Cloud (stallion, part of the Wonderbolts but disappeared) and Splatter Paint (mare, sews clothing). Speed Cloud disappeared at the time she was born and her mum has no time at home since few ponies buys their clothes so she stays at the boutique. So Spin Art is always at her neighbor's house so she has "another" family. Her life now is way better since she is friends with more ponies and she tries to get out of her comfort zone to reach out.[/colour]

[colour=#282828]In order to help the household and her mum, she works with her, creates art, and writes stories as a part time job. Her full time job is weather patrol at Ponyville. She got in because she is able to fly in and bust through clouds in a short time (like three minutes). Time to time she would practice stunts while hitting clouds. As she practices she believes that she has the effort to be in the Wonderbolts and search her dad.[/colour]

Summary: [colour=#282828]Her talent is art, creativity, and imagination. She deeply cares about the ponies around her especially her friends. She'll defend her friends if she can, but is a little selfish about it since she doesn't want to risk her life. She would have save them, she is just afraid. Aside from her almost loyal side, she loves to imagine the things impossible and is very creative. She would imagine the things around her as a big adventure, no wonder why she is so artistic and can come up with such creative stories. Her usual faults are when she tends to be quiet a bit and gets mad at herself when does terribly on something. She is also a little goofy. She gets mad about when also feels left out and dislikes being alone. Her goals are that she wants to join the Wonderbolts and search her father, she thinks she has enough creativity to perform stunts.[/colour]

Sure! Though to forewarn you the Medic on staff ideally won't see much action. That, and the DIs will be the ones handling the actual training.

One of your REA ponies could be a drill instructor. Or perhaps even, if they happen to screw up too many times in service, they could go through re-training.

Maybe you should change things up a little to attract more "trainees". I suggest having the training RP geared towards keeping active-duty services "in proper shape" rather than inducting new recruits into the REA. That'll be more convenient than asking RPers to choose which OCs make sense as recruits or even going through the lengthy process of apping a new character.

Another thought has occurred to me: maybe the trainees can be civilians granted the opportunity to undergo boot camp without having to serve time in the REA afterwards.The in-universe rationale can be that it's a good idea to have civilians know how to function in emergencies in case the REA isn't around. OOU, RPers won't have to worry about whether their characters are army-worthy because they'll still be civilians at the end of the day.
