Inkbrand needs some friends!

Hello all!

So, I recently got my character Inkbrand approved for Canterlot Chronicles RPs. Obviously, most relationships with other characters are going to be formed through RPs. However, I find it important to establish at least a few relationships with other characters before actually RPing. Mainly because I hate having to have my character start out every interaction with "Hi my name is", because he technically doesn't know anypony at all.

So long story short, I'm looking for other characters to establish relationships with Inkbrand, based on their personalities/histories/all that jazz. Here are the basic ideas I have - these are not the only ideas I'm open to, so if you have your own, simply let me know so we can hash it out!

Best/Close Friend

- A stallion that Inkbrand is close friends with. Basically, Inkbrand's bro. The two would be completely at ease with each other, to the point of being able to barge into each other's houses whenever they felt like it. This friend would have an understanding of Inkbrand, knowing that his seemingly malicious and rude comments are all made in good fun, and he doesn't get bothered by them - or, gives back as good as Inkbrand dishes it out.

This role can also be filled by a mare, but it will be less likely, since Inkbrand instinctually treats mares differently. She'd have to be pretty masculine in attitude.

Childhood Friend

- Somepony Inkbrand has known since his days in Manehatten. Whether they are on friendly terms or not in the present is up to you, though I'd prefer friendly. This role can also be synonymous with the Best/Close Friend role.

Friendly/Enemy Rivals

- Not every relationship is sunshine and rainbows! I'd like for Inkbrand to have a rivalry with somepony. It can be a friendly rivalry (where the two ponies push and pull at each other and things can get pretty heated, but they always cool down afterwards for a drink at the bar), or it can be all out rivalry (maybe they competed over a mare at some point, or they met and their personalities not only didn't click, they downright clashed).

Ex-Marefriend

- A mare Inkbrand used to date, but they separated. Also up to you if they parted on friendly terms, or if it was one-sided. Details can be talked about if anypony's interested in this role.

I'm also interested in getting Inkbrand into some more RPs, and have just a few ideas. Again, always open to more suggestions, but if you're interested in one of these ideas or have one of your own, lemme know!

Wrong House

- Inkbrand stumbles into the wrong house either because he's drunk, or he's making a quick escape from a job gone wrong. Cue awkward, aggressive, and confused shenanigans.

House of Thieves

- A group of mercenaries and thieves, sort of like a gang. RPs would center around the members hanging out together, going on missions together, and getting out of sticky situations together. But this would basically be like, an assembly of characters to form this group, and having threads detailing their adventures

I have a vague plot line of the group going out to steal a priceless artifact, only to get trapped in the magical security system that acts like a hallucinogenic.

Also have another vague plot line of them traversing the wilds in search of treasure, but stumbling upon a lost pony who turns out to be more than she seems, resulting in an escort mission for all of their safety.

Of Hearts and Hooves

- This RP would have to take place in the FFA section of the forums, because there would be heavy lore creation involved in the backstory and the plot line. However, I would have sign-ups that would only allow characters with approved applications for either CC or WoE, because I would't want overpowered or unrealistic characters indadvertedly messing up the storyline.

A mystery/adventure thread, with puzzles, decisions, and an ancient secret. A few mares have gone missing from various areas of Equestria. At the present time as Hearts and Hooves day approaches, one mare (character played) feels as if she's being followed and stalked. When she suddenly turns up missing, her friends and others go looking for her, and uncover the history behind the Love Potion that supposedly started Hearts and Hooves day.

Ideas. Ideas everywhere.

Yup. I'm still really new to Canterlot, but I'm not new to RP, so I'd love to be able to get some going. Just let me know if you're interested in any of the relationship or RP ideas I've listed, or have ideas of your own that you'd like Inkbrand to be a part of!

Inkbrand seems to have a lot in common with August so maybe they can have some sort of connection. I was thinking either best/close friend or friendly rival. And August is a traveling thief so the House of Thieves RP idea would be a neat start. Only if you're interested though.

And it looks like Quicklime beat me to it, she's started a Thieves Guild. I think I'll try and apply Inkbrand for that one. August should totally join it too!

He's not involved in the unlawful section of Equestria, but he could easily be a good source of gadgets, information, or jobs if he ever has em, (does most things himself.) Go ahead and think of the game Thief at this point XD. He did grow up in Manehatten, and occasionally returns for a visit.

Maybe some distance in the childhood friend part.

Or... to make this more possible. The wrong house scenario. If he appeals well enough to the Engineer, he may actually be willing to build and/or sell gadgets to him in the future. Even though he's not involved in any unlawful scenes.

Yay, childhood friend! They definitely seem to both share a similar, "I'm the best" type of attitude, but her confidence and surety in herself would definitely have appealed to Inkbrand early on.

What do you think of them being friendly rivals in the present? Again, since they both have that sort of arrogant, confident attitude about themselves, I think they would clash at points (Inkbrand probably finds her "Robin Hood" mentality for con artists and wealthy ponies sanctimonious, while Mistral probably seems him coming off as a bully or jerk at times), causing rifts. But they seem like they'd be cool enough to just shake it off after a day or two, since they would have known each other for a long time.

(Also, I keep getting the image of a young Mistral putting the smack down on a young Inkbrand after witnessing him bullying another pony on the playground. I might have to give drawing that scene a shot…)

But ooh…I like this idea. Especially since Inkbrand is joining up with the Thieves Guild, it'd be interesting if he had a sort of connection for interesting gadgets and items to use for work. What do you think of them having a business acquaintance bordering on friendship? JavaSun doesn't seem like the type of pony Inkbrand would initially be drawn to, especially if he's normally serious whenever he's doing business (which is when Inkbrand will have mostly associated with him). But I can see them forming a more personal relationship. I think JavaSun wouldn't be the pony Inkbrand would automatically think to call up to hang out with, but if they happened to run into each other outside of work, Inkbrand would probably be like, "Oh hey man, wanna go hang out at the bar?" That sort of thing.

But I can definitely see them having a business relationship, at least! Maybe…estranged childhood acquaintances? So like, they knew each other while in school, then randomly bumped into each other again? We could RP out the Wrong House Scenario, detailing them meeting back up and getting Inkbrand introduced to JavaSun the Engeineer, instead of JavaSun That Random Pony I Used To Know When I Was a Colt, if you wanted.

I'm not here exactly to establish a pre-existing relationship with Inkbrand, but I would like to mention that he'd be likely to loathe my Manehattan pony Dr. Merlot should the two ever cross paths...... and vice versa.

Ahaha, I bet you'd be right on that! I think Inkbrand would automatically tune Merlot out because of his overly polite and superficial surface, but if he ever figured out that Merlot was looking down on him on a more personal level aside from the typical Canterlot/Manehatten attitude (like, "ew, look at that punk pony, hanging out in the gutters most likely"), that would blow the lid. Merlot seems like a cool and collected pony most of the time, so Inkbrand would probably not even notice him until an incident forced them face to face. Cue grunting like cave ponies and manly pounding of chests via Inkbrand, while Merlot would probably yawn and check for the time. xD

Should be fun if the two do ever run into each other!

Java is only serious when it comes to his craft. Mathematics, or actually building something. Stay out of his way if it's either one of those, or he will bite your head off.

There will be some nasty distrust at first however, given that Java is a lawful character, with chaotic tendencies. Annd... you broke into his home. Note... he rarely ever sleeps. So, if you want to RP it, I am gonna role a die to see what his mental state is at the time of meeting.

Oh and he's a stiff when it comes to his work. Business is something he generally loathes, after having to deal with to many business ponies.

But, Java is a pony who believes in efficiency. So badly that he sacrifices sleep. Making gadgets would be a good way for him to seek flaws, learn new tricks, and the like. Not to mention he is making some pony more efficient in the end. It's VERY possible to bud a friendship with him.

It could be possible that Inkbrand had bullied Java in the past before he left Manehatten on an apprenticeship (noticed the bully part), but matured. While Java doesn't quite forget, he is "forgiving".

Now... for COE, you really want him on your side XD. He can modify your equipment into some nicer stuff. Like the armor in Inkbrand's character sheet.

Heh, Inkbrand's not really too big on modifications and upgrading, his armor set works plenty fine for him. But I'll definitely send you a PM later on if I think I'll have time for a private RP, I think it'd be pretty fun to do. Yeah, I can't imagine any pony being amiable to some strange pony breaking into their home. xD

Sounds good! I'm going to have to make a character log for Inkbrand here soon, so I can keep track of all his relationships and such. But awesome, childhood friend turned friendly rival it is! The two definitely need to meet up in a thread sometime - same holds true to me, give me a shout if you ever want Inkbrand to trot along for some fun times with Mistral!

Heh, he definitely wasn't the only one laughing! Personally, I found that scene to be really hilarious OOC. Mostly because I can clearly imagine it happening in true MLP animation (and I'm sure Applejack's done the same thing at some point, somewhere…).

And yeah, I knew they were boyfriend/girlfriend after looking up info about Presteza. Would be interesting if Merlot and Inkbrand ever did meet in a RP, clashed, and Inkbrand found out he was Presteza's boyfriend. I bet he would needlessly pick at and bother Presteza if/when he could, just to try and get under Merlot's skin. Or, bully Presteza for information on Merlot. Or something like! Inkbrand has a tendency to go out of his way to annoy ponies. xD

He's not going to change it's appearance. That's a fashion designer's job. Just make it more useful. And who knows... get friendly enough with him and he can probably provide you with good ole fashion information and get away routes. We can do this mass effect style. The right choices, leads to the right direction!

He would probably also dislike my Doctor Razor Gears. Funnily enough, though I dislike Merlot... Razor would probably get along with Merlot on some level.

I'm not sure if my characters would work with whatever's left, especially since I only have one that's in any way connected to Manehatten. We could do something with that one, Xan, I suppose, since he grew up on the streets of the city. But then again, they're already going into the thieves guild together. Or, since Pyro's already been introduced to Inkbrand through WWU, they could meet up again or something. Whatever you want to do is fine.

Inkbrand and Xan would probably be acquainted via Thieves Guild - is Xan already a part of it, or is he going to join through RP? If it's the former we could try to establish something, as for the latter, they would just get acquainted through RP. As for Pyro, yeah, they'll probably meet up in a RP at some point or another, but they've already been established as strangers through WWU, so there's no point in establishing something between them.

Sounds good to me, I'll let you know if I think of something (or you let me know, either or). I'm planning to start a casual open RP soon after one of the other RPs I'm in finishes, so maybe our characters can meet there. Or if not, I'm sure they'll run into each other somewhere along the way.
