I love all of you!

With that out of the way, I am working on a little project that I personally find interesting. Anyone interested in hearing it out?

Daaaawwww. You spoil us Steel.

Myself, I certainly like to hear more. I hope that Battlemage will be involved for....reasons .

Also, seeing that EquestrianSchoolar is MIA I will be posting in Gate Kicker...if it is okay with both Dusty and Pretzy.

So the idea is to do a bit of this in a more comic-book esque manner. And by that I mean having post number limits on threads, naming titles and threads a certain way, etc. IE: "Applejack, The Equestrian! Issue #1 (Blindsided Part 1)" would be a thread title, and it would have 22 posts. Then the next thread would be ready and be called, ""Applejack, The Equestrian! Issue #1 (Blindsided Part 2)", have 22 posts, etc. and then you have one-shots, annuals, 'limited series', etc.

How would they operate? People can, as always, if it involves just their characters, write alone. In effect getting to 'update/run' their characters and plots without waiting. However, several people can instead work together on any single issue/arc/series. Maybe they think the other character is interesting and want a crack and the two work out a quid pro quo for the other person to come help write the second person's own thread. Could work on joint posts, or post one after the other.

Then you have team 'books' which can be a lot of fun, and also easy ways if allowed to make sure characters being played by inactive/infrequent posters remain involved. They also can be larger collab efforts. You also have Style books (IE; "Adventure Comics") that may heavily involve one character, but can also bounce around and be more open to a range of characters than a set team or single character.

None of this is intended to replace threads as we have them now, but rather supplement them. Consistent storytelling with our characters outside of the pacing of threads as they are now can be good. And by replicating the pacing of comics themselves, the demands of posts in comic-book emulating threads can be varying. Sometimes you have a splash page with no dialogue, a mood setting panel or six, or a fight. Other times, yes, you have tons of dialogue and back and forth. Point is that while sometimes a post in one of these threads may take a while, other times you may see multiple posts in a single day depending on comic style.

Combined, I think this does several things:

1- Allows people to expand stories and canons for their characters faster, whether or alone or through collaboration.
2- Keeps characters not otherwise seen in rotation.
3- Helps flesh out our world through more consistent storytelling.

I have three 'comic lines' thought up for The Equestrian, Shifter, and a style comic with Lady Adventure.

Beyond that, I also want to do the following:
Get a listing of active players and their heroes.
Get a listing of less than active players that we can still contact to get permission to use their characters.
Formulate teams.
Get the villain side of the order organized better using the first two methods.

Once we have that done, I think we can start really pumping out some good stuff for a wide variety of characters.

I like this idea actually, Steel! I say we go ahead with it.

As For the restarting of Gatekicker, I'm good with that too. I'll get to work figuring out a list of the active heroes.

I had a few more: Bulwark, Pursuer and BROODMARE.  Strictly speaking they're all heroes, although Pursuer and maybe BROODMARE were intended to be a little morally ambiguous.  (And in conflict with each other.)

Also, I'll note I'm currently potentially open to threads, or at least open to having my characters in them.  I'm not sure if that's enough to count as active though, so they could be either direction in that regard.

From my part, Ossia certainly should be among Active Villains, while Blade Runner would be one to be counted among Active Heroes.

........

We have quite a disparity in Heroes-to-Villians ratio, are we?

I’ve got a couple heroes for the list. Dolor and Liviel are both heroes I’ve used here previously. Tehengu as well, but I’m not sure wether to put him under hero or neutral. I’d also like to get back into this thing, if anyone wants to do anything with my characters.

To all Roleplayers here! I'm currently trying to cook up a sort of... I suppose, rating system for both heroes and villains. LIke a scale of power/influence a character has so we don't up with a really out of balance situation in a thread.

Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

We could always use the old marvel power chart.

shwHSAb.jpg

Z.E.L.D.A would probably be.

Intelligence:3

Strength:6

Speed:4

Durability:6

Energy Projection:0

Fighting Skills:5

I came up with a scale a while back, that worked roughly as follows.  Note that the lists are not exhaustive, meant more to give examples than encompass the tier.

Tier 1 is approximately civilian level, generally low level or improvised capabilities.  This would include wild animals, militia, petty criminals and the like.

Tier 2 is that of active combatants, including your average soldier, higher skilled or more specialist police, and would probably lump in people with (atypical) powers or magic who are otherwise untrained.

Tier 3 is where you get into more specialized or empowered combatants.  I would expect 'typical' superheroes and supervillains to fall into this tier.  Specialized and particularly trained military or magic users would also fall into this tier.

Tier 4 is the start of the extreme end, where you get low grade or localized reality warpers, or people whose abilities while smaller in scale are much wider in range.  Examples are a little harder to come up with for this tier, though I think things like demons, AIs (say in control of a facility) or large mecha could probably fit into it.

Tier 5 is the top, including the most extreme sorts of things like physical manifestations of gods, ancient wizards who can raise armies of constructs or level cities, or AIs in charge of an entire fleet or a country.

I'd also be up for using Tacobob's chart, though it'd be a little more involved.  I'd also like to either get or come up with a scale for that one, to get a sense of what a given number means for a character.

It might almost be worth using both, Tacobob's to be extra description that could be applied to characters, and mine as a means of shorthand for what level a given thread is intended or expected to be.

Yeah, I was just tossing that out there...I could see using an system of strengths and weakness to balance your character..

I don't have any issue with using both of these, frankly.  I can see the pros and cons... Would everyone be alright trying to categorize their character according to where they land on these scales? I can start us off by trying to  stat my character's starting with my latest.

Let me take a shot at it.  And I'll note I'm open to discussion on any of these ratings, as I'm still not entirely sure where the ends of the scale are.

Detective Stalwart

Tier 3 when going all out, due to some things they keep hidden, will typically behave as a tier 2.

Intelligence: 5

Strength: 3

Speed: 3

Durability: 3

Energy Projection: 0

Fighting Skills: 5

Bulwark

Tier 4, though limited enough in scope to function as tier 3 at times.

Intelligence: 4

Strength: 6

Speed: 2

Durability: 6

Energy Projection: 4

Fighting Skills: 5

BROODMARE

Tier 3 when she's limited to her pony-form chassis, tier 4 when she has access to systems or materials to work with.

Intelligence: 6

Strength: 4

Speed: 3

Durability: 5

Energy Projection: 4

Fighting Skills: 5

Pursuer

Tier 4

Intelligence: 7

Strength: 4

Speed: 3

Durability: 4

Energy Projection: 6

Fighting Skills: 5

I guess I can try. I have no idea what the numbers mean really, so take those with a grain of salt.

Arcus:

Probably tier 3, especially with his combination of powers and military training.

Int: 4

Str: 4

Spd: 3

Durability: 3

Energy Projection: 1

Fighting Skills: 6

Dolor:

Tier 2

Int: 1

Str: 5

Spd: 3

Durability: 6

Energy Projection: 3

Fighting Skills: 3

Shui Seng:

Tier 3

Int: 4

Str: 3

Spd: 5

Durability: 3

Energy Projection: 4

Fighting Skills: 6

Shifter- Tier 2. However, this can fluctuate due to the ability to in some manner mimic the powers of who Shifter turns into, though not to the same level.

Intelligence: 3
Strength: 2
Speed: 2
Durability: 6
Energy Projection: 0
Fighting Skills: 2

Applejack, The Equestrian-  Tier 3, bordering on Tier 4.

Intelligence: 4
Strength: 5
Speed: 5
Durability: 5
Energy Projection: 3
Fighting Skills: 7

The Battlemage- Tier 4, borders on Tier 5 and possibly Tier 5 standard. Potentially unlimited depending on whom she speaks and makes deals with.

Intelligence: 6
Strength: 3
Speed: 4
Durability: 5
Energy Projection: 7
Fighting Skills: 3

Lady Adventure- Tier 1, often Tier 2, ALSO OFTEN TIER 3 OR ABOVE. She doesn't know(or care), how can you?

Intelligence: 1? 7?
Strength: 1? 5?
Speed: 1? 7?
Durability: 3? 7?
Energy Projection: Okay, this is a 0. Unless it is a 7.
Fighting Skills: 2? 7?
