  2. Odumase Ikefuna Machines have a nature, much like our own. They respond to proper treatment and careful nurture, just like a foal would a parent. RP Type: Canterlot Chronicles Name: Odumase Ikefuna. Prefers “Odu.” Gender: Male Age: Stallion Species: Zebra Coat Color: Grey with auburn stripes. Generally covered with a fine layer of pulverized metal dust and grease. Often has goggle marks from where he wears his safety goggles. Mane/Tail Color & Style: Mane is alternating bands of auburn and black. Eye Color: Brown Physique: Burly. Odu is well-built, being both strong and very tough. Most find his brawniness to be very intimidating. Residence: Born in Unyasi, just outside Boma. Currently residing in Stalliongrad. Occupation: Airship engineer. Cutie Mark: Stylized planetary gear set with 3 planet gears and an annular gear. Unique Traits: Odu is an engineering prodigy. Engine mechanics, aetherfluid plumbing, aether-reactive gas chamber tuning; if it has something to do with the function of a high-performance airship, Odu is keenly in tune with how it should work and when it’s not working the way it should be. It could be said that his special talent is “machine sense.” Character History Having inhabited the Boma area since before the great drought, the Ikefunas can best be described as stubborn. The family remained in the city throughout the dust storms, raising crops in shelters, clearing out sand and broken down buildings, and helping to maintain the structures that were still habitable. When the rest of the Zebras decided to disperse, the Ikefunas stayed. Thus the concept of tenacity was firmly etched into the Ikefunas’ family tradition. Odu was born the son of a construction foreman, specifically one who was in charge of maintaining the citadel and completing additions that had been approved by the city council. His father was a stern, humorless zebra, instilling unshakable work ethic in his children and making him the shining example of hard work and dedication in the community. Knowing the attitude of his father, Odu followed the straight and narrow path and seemed destined to become a construction worker as well. He followed his father into the workforce and often worked with him on the citadel additions. Odu showed a knack for the use of tools, though at times he could be heard cursing the fact that he had hooves instead of unicorn magic or griffon claws. This all came to a head one day when he was tasked with installing a set of reinforcement pylons on the windward side of the citadel. The reinforcement pylons were to be set in the ground and anchored into the earthworks by way of a metal plate bolted onto the pylon. While manhandling the pylons and plates into place was no big deal for a team of strong zebras, it was a nightmare to fix the bolts into place with only basic tools. An administrative oversight had resulted in replacements being several weeks out with the wet season on the horizon. If they did not finish the shoring up, the earthworks ran the risk of collapse! Odu thought long and hard about how to approach the problem. The other workers on his team followed his father’s orders and began mounting the bolts one at a time, hoping their hard work would outpace the incoming storms. Some even dared to call Odu lazy for choosing to tinker with his tools instead of brute forcing the problem. However, Odu disregarded them and continued to experiment until finally, he came up with a solution. Using spare parts and the manual wrenches they were given, Odu built a crank-powered bolt driver that could install and tighten the bolts in record time with just proper positioning and a few cranks by the user. As he used the improved tool to drive bolts, he continuously tuned it and perfected its workings until he was completing his tasks at record speed. With a couple of these tools built, his crew was able to finish the reinforcements ahead of schedule. When his father came to review their work, he was shocked to find the crew sitting around making idle chatter. The elder Ikefuna was angry at first, thinking his son’s crew to be lazy, but after they pointed out their accomplishment, his attitude softened. The work was actually done well and the workers were happy with their assignment. When he went to find his son, he found more than that; his son’s cutie mark, which represented Odu’s ability to build and tune machinery to perfection. It was soon discovered that Odu’s mechanical aptitude extended to other devices as well: factory traction engines, lighting louvres over skylights, and finally griffon airship engines. His discovery of the latter drove him to board an airship and depart for Clawifax. In Clawifax, he attended a trade school where he learned the inner workings of the ships he had come to love. Eventually, he made the decision to leave Unyasi altogether. Though his father disapproved of this at first, he soon remembered how his son had earned his cutie mark and reluctantly gave his blessing. Odu made his way to Stalliongrad by airship, where he works as a professional engineer. Character Summary If nothing else, Odu inherited his father’s work ethic. Despite his size his is no musclehead. Odu is studious to a fault and is constantly tinkering with his tools or his engines. While he is more of a hooves-on learner, he is not above reading manuals or supplemental material to better understand his line of work. One thing Odu did not inherit was his father’s temper. Unlike the elder Ikefuna, Odu is level-headed and calm. His work ethic is not the result of a burning desire to complete the given task, but a cool determination to come to an understanding of the inner workings of his given job. It could be said that he is a gentle giant. Odu does not speak much, though he can be counted upon to emote appropriately. Most of his “talking” comes from his facial expressions and his body language. Many say that he is an excellent listener. Though Odu’s father gave his blessing to leave, Odu still feels that it was done grudgingly and out of a sense of helplessness rather than genuine joy for his son’s talents. Someday, he hopes to return home to Boma, bringing something that will prove that he was not just a wayward son.
  3. That is entirely possible. It appears that the unarchiving process caused some topics to break because the tool omitted certain posts from archival and preserved the rest. Unfortunately, once the information has been lost, there is no way to recover it short of physically scouring the server's hard drive disks for it. In an effort to combat this, we are going to be trying a different procedure for unarchiving and doing backups at least once a week to preserve database snapshots until we've finished the unarchiving process. In the meantime, please back up your RP applications locally to prevent data loss. Google Drive provides excellent cloud storage and online document editing tools. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. We'll continue to update you as we work on this.
  4. Griffons - Fierce and Proud Heirs to Aquilos Griffons are predatory creatures sporting a raptor’s head, wings, and talons, and a great cat's body. Their plumage color is as varied as the ponies that inhabit Equestria and their feather patterning and body types take on all shapes and sizes of predatory birds and great cats, respectively. They are generally larger and stronger than most ponies and can manipulate objects finely with their talons. Though griffons can walk on their hind paws bipedally, they prefer to walk on all fours or take wing when given the option. Griffon culture values independence and self-sufficiency as well as fostering intense loyalty for close friends and family. Their great emphasis on strength of body, mind, and will leads many fledgeling griffons to venture forth to test themselves against all the world has to offer. These “pilgrimages” can come in many forms. Some fledglings take up travel across the sea by wing and airship. Others travel more domestically, crossing the Equestrian continent on journeys of self-discovery. There is no set time or objective for a griffon pilgrimage nor is there a requirement to return home afterwards. Thus, though their ancestral homeland lies in the canyons, griffons can be found all across Equestria. Some might see them as mean-spirited, rude, or arrogant, but that is mostly the product of ingrained familial attitudes that respect and reward strength and directness, whether it be in contests of will or contests of brawn. A griffon will rarely back down from a confrontation, even if it means certain defeat. To be beaten in a fair contest is preferable to giving up without a fight. Most Griffons will go out of their way to prove a point, though by the same token they will rarely ever escalate to outright physical violence. Griffons have little use for niceties and pleasantries. To ponies who are used to dealing with other Equestrians, Griffons may seem cold and aloof at best and aggressive and hostile at worst. However, if treated with respect and shown that the pony they are dealing with is worthy of being treated as an equal, the average Griffon will quickly warm up to their host. Griffon families are usually close-knit units and anyone who has befriended a griffon can attest to their fierce loyalty and the great pride they take in their friendships. Those who are strong and loyal enough to gain a griffon as one of their closest friends will find themselves accorded the same stature as a blood brother or sister. Strangers, however, often have their work cut out for them. Though carnivorous by nature, modern griffons have grown to be omnivores, consuming both meat and vegetable and grain derivatives. Their primary subsistence foodstuff is fish, which is supplemented by grain products and fruit. Accepted spelling variants in Common: Gryphon, Griffon, Griffin. ~Encyclopedia Equestria
  5. Alistair Goldmane It’s not the takedown, it’s the thrill of the hunt! NOTE: Character has been modified from WOE design. Military history is more detailed and kit list includes firearms. Name: Master Gunnery Sergeant Alistair Goldmane, Aquellian Republic Marines (ret.). Also answers to “Goldy,” “Gunny,” or “Master Guns.” Sex: Male Age: Adult Species: Griffon Big cat color scheme: White tiger Raptor color scheme: Harpy eagle Eye Color: Green Physique: toned, but not massive. Built more for endurance than raw strength. Residence: Born in an unnamed village downriver from Talonopolis. Occupation: Mercenary and wilderness guide. Formerly private security contractor and before that an Aquellian Marine. Unique Traits Alistair’s military service record includes two tours to Indrek, an Aquellian protectorate with a severe pirate problem. Alistair spent 3 years there battling organized crime, seizing contraband, recovering stolen assets, and capturing pirates. His home unit was a company from the 13th Regiment, otherwise known as “The Bloody Thirteenth” for its connotation as an unlucky number. As a result, Alistair has extensive training with all the manner of infantry weapons. Rifles, shotguns, bows, lances, pistols, swords, and knives are all considered tools of the trade and an integral part of his repertoire. The 13th was known for producing the best scouts and pathfinders the Marines had to offer and Alistair was no exception. Fieldcraft training meshed well with the hunting and tracking experience from his youth. Alistair retains a keen eye for detail and knowledge of military and pirate operational doctrine and tactics. His already prodigious marksmanship skills are kept honed by regular practice runs in the wilderness. Alistair also has a keen sense for the natural world. His combination of years spent in the wilderness coupled with scout sniper training and his expertise in hunting and tracking blend together to give him uncanny awareness of his surroundings. He is well known for his danger sense and ability to track quarry through all weather conditions. Character History The Goldmanes are a large clan living in the canyons of Aquellia. Though the clan has members throughout the country, the vast majority of them live near Talonopolis. The families run the gamut from factory workers to hunters to schoolteachers to Aquellian Marines. Alistair was born into a rural family outside the great city and thus learned from an early age to be independent, self-sufficient, and keenly observant of the land. Alistair grew up in the Raptorclaw's alluvial plain. His family hunted, fished, and farmed the land for sustenance while his father and brothers worked in the Talonopolis factories. When he came of age, Alistair was encouraged to venture beyond the canyon confines on his fledgling pilgrimage. While some Goldmanes elected to venture out into the world on their own, Alistair was proud to count himself among those who enlisted in the marines. He was assigned to an airship that traveled overseas, giving him the taste of adventure he’d always wanted. After years of service, Alistair was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. Upon his return, Alistair found himself burdened with ennui. All that could be done in his provincial life at home could not compare to the things he had seen and done on board ship across the sea. One day, while perusing additional employment opportunities in Talonopolis, Alistair discovered a flier requesting experienced former military griffons and ponies to staff a security company that guarded cargo running between Talonopolis and Stalliongrad. In his travels, Alistair had heard much about the city in the north. While he couldn’t care less about its industrial districts and shining spires, the unspoiled wilderness surrounding the city proper tempted him. Thus, with only a few words for his family, Alistair was off again, this time to Stalliongrad! When he arrived he was amazed by the city's sheer size, diversity, and opportunity! It was even better than the recruiters had said! The company, a subsidiary of Kalinka Shipping, quickly assigned Alistair to the work pool where he was soon assigned to the airship Artorius under Captain Sturmovik. Though the good captain came off stern and uncompromising, the marine and the mariner soon warmed up to each other and became fast friends. Though his service with Sturmovik was enlightening, he soon found that his wanderlust was insatiable. Over a drink with the captain, the marine finally handed in his resignation. Though the two are now parted, they still keep in touch, holding to the promise that each would be willing to fly to the other’s aid in his time of need. Alistair’s new journey took him to many places and taught him many things. His hunting and tracking skills proved invaluable in allowing him to sustain himself on the road and soon caught the eye of those who needed his expertise. Alistair found that he could just as easily apply his ability to take game to tracking sentient creatures, especially those who did not want to be found like criminals and other malcontents. Traveling across Equestria, Alistair made a minor name for himself as a skilled tracker, bodyguard, bounty hunter, and guide; the ideal mercenary. This is where we find him today. Character Summary Alistair has a special affinity for the great outdoors and a wide array of survival skills to go with it. In the wilderness, Alistair can always be counted upon to be able to start fires, set up camps, render them safe, and identify safe and unsafe food and water sources. Between jobs, he enjoys pub games like cards and billiards. Alistair has a strong dislike of the inner city. He very much prefers natural surroundings to the forests of glass, steel, and dead wood that comprise the larger cities in the world. The stuffiness of social functions and the need to be in suits or formal wear to even get in is a severe turnoff to a griffon who spent most of his career in ghillie suits or flight jackets. Despite his profession, Alistair is neither violent cutthroat nor dishonest sellsword. In all of his jobs he makes it very clear that he is guide and protector first and marksman or swordsman second. The griffon mercenary is adventurous, gregarious, and always looking for something new to do. He loves the feel of the wind through his feathers and the thrill of taking game. Because of his hunting and mercenary background he is adept at the use of lethal hardware, though he has developed a reputation for being able to take his prey alive. Age has mellowed Alistair out but not taken the vitality from him. Pieces of Kit Alistair mixes and matches his kit according to field conditions and job requirements. A small selection of his personal arsenal: Argent-Kestrelson Mk. 4-S marksman's rifle (“Gungnir”): Standard-issue bolt-action Aquellian marine infantry rifle hand-selected for accuracy. The “S” variant is fitted with a 4x telescopic sight with stadiametric markings for long-distance shooting. Razorclaw Mk. 3 revolver (“Tyrfing”): Standard-issue Aquellian officer’s sidearm. Alistair’s piece is features customized mahogany grips and an enlarged 7-shot cylinder. The oversized .454 Razorclaw chambers can also accommodate small-bore shotshells. Gauntlet: Specialized armored gauntlet derived from Aquellian heavy armor kits. The steel plating in the general issue armor has been replaced with Pyrium, a lightweight but strong exotic alloy. Alistair has further modified his gauntlet with the ability to launch bolos or blades via spring-loaded cartridges concealed in the wrist. Karambit: A short knife with a curved blade derived from a harvesting sickle. Acquired from the Indrek campaign overseas. This particular piece features a full-tang blade with mahogany grip plates and Indrekan traditional carvings. Portrait
  6. I used to run Shure SE110 earbuds, but they finally conned out about 6 months ago after nearly 3 years of faithful service. I don't listen to enough mobile music to justify buying a set of IEMs or a replacement pair of earbuds. I run a pair of Astro A40s for gaming and they work great. I bought the Astros originally because of their flexibility; I could flip between Xbox and PC at will. I may upgrade a bit down the road, though, since most of my gaming is done on PC now. 7. We're looking into this issue. EDIT: It appears to be related to the archiving system. We're currently in the middle of some reshuffling on the backend and it will take a while for the archiving tool to finish what it's doing, which may explain the unavailability of those entries. We'll update you guys on what's going on when this next step is completed.

  9. Counterpoints: Season 3 succeeded in neutering Discord and in a related way killed any good will I had for Season 4 in regards to the ending A way to write Delancie out to pursue other interests than fending off pony AND Star Trek fans. Alicorn Twilight makes our adorkable little neurotic much less relatable The Immortal Game turns Celestia and Luna into daughters of a mad god and places extreme emphasis on the godlike nature of alicorns. The fandom has only themselves to blame for the change in Twilight's level of relatability. She was a Mary Sue beforehand though, so I guess this was to be expected Canon sues can be made to work in the context. See Doctor Who. Equestria Girls was garbage that pretty much didn't add to the series in any positive way Capsule episode that while it could have used fleshing out of some plot holes, was still entertaining and cute. You did come for the cute, right? The Flim Flam Brothers were pretty corny in an unamusing way As snide conmen they fit the archetype well. Derpy Hooves is lamest face of fandom and should not have been allowed to breed. I've seen worse. In person. Trixie, Lightning Dust and Rainbow Dash are two characters I love for their arrogance and ego trippin' That's three characters. I see you enjoy a healthy dose of sociopathy with your cornflakes. Merriweather Williams could have done better with Wonderbolt Academy by using one of her previous endings The ending was not the issue so much as the lack of Top Gun references. But perhaps that was from before your time. A Canterlot Wedding was basically Mass Effect 3 in that it had no true ending brought about due to the actions of the protagonists, and the ultimate evil was dispelled with a big, bs blast of magic out of nowhere A Canterlot Wedding, much like Equestria Girls, is a capsule story arc that can exist in its own universe/multiverse. Other than introducing two supporting characters, it does not poisitively or negatively affect the enjoyment of prior or subsequent episodes. Earth Ponies are the bottom rung of pony society and Celestia help you if you're born as one Earth ponies are the bottom rung of your society. It is not the writing of the show, but rather the fandom attitudes toward magic, alicorn ascension, and high fantasy that perpetuate racism, classism, and the thaumocentric view of a universe otherwise based on equality, compassion, and unity. The Apple Family lineage may have been created through an extensive line of inbreeding, due to the amounts of Apple-related talents and earth ponies within Or written with a theme much like Mocha Delights and Butterscotch Sundae as characters. Unicorns are the best pony race Unicorns are one of many ponies. Again, the sooner the fandom understands that class warfare and racial conflict are not needed to describe canon Equestria, the better. And my own: Flash Sentry was one subplot away from good characterization in Equestria Girls. Alicorn Twilight is still Twilight Sparkle. Shining Armor and Cadence are fun characters with great designs. Magical Mystery Cure is still amazing for its absolutely perfect pacing and execution. Discord was an amusing novelty, but anarchy is overrated.

  11. I'm a princess. Are you a princess, too? But seriously. I can't thank this community enough for the support you've given the team during this transitional period. I can't promise that it will be quick or easy to build a better Canterlot, but I can promise that the team will work hard for you, the community. You guys are the lifeblood of the fandom and we wouldn't be anywhere without you. I'm looking forward to making this community great, fun, and great fun! Let's fly to the castle!
