  1. Prince Blueblood fumed inside of his private, enclosed carriage. He'd been fuming for the past few days, since he had been given this assignment. But the closer he got to his destination, the more grouchy and disagreeable he became. But, as he been told several times this week already, this was his job. He was a Prince, he wasn't supposed to have a 'job'! Besides, he had underlings that could be doing this! But when the immortal ruler of the land instructed you to personally oversee a project, you did not argue with her. The little town of Ponyville was growing rapidly in the past year. New homes, businesses, and streets were popping up at a rapid pace. Princess Celestia had mentioned the influence of the 'Elements of Rhythm" (or something like that) were contributing to the growth of the town. (He hadn't really paid much attention to that part.) But with all the growth, the palace's maps of the town were woefully out of date. Now, anypony that worked for Blueblood could have done simple maps of streets and such, but Ponyville bordered the Everfree Forest. The forest was governed by its own strange laws, and its borders changed seemingly at random. So Blueblood, as the Royal Cartographer, had been tasked to not only map out the growth in Ponyville, but to accurately plot the borders of the forest. So Blueblood found himself in a carriage on the road to Ponyville, all but one of his servants left behind, and he thought he might die of discomfort before this was all over. "Honestly, you'd think that Celestia could have at LEAST let me use her chariot!" he complained to nopony in particular... for about the fifth time. “This road is so bumpy and dusty!” “Indeed, Sire, undoubtedly a mistaken oversight on the part of Her Majesty,” replied the other unicorn in the carriage, Starched Collar, Blueblood’s butler. He rolled his eyes when he was sure the Prince was not looking at him. “How soon before we reach this flyspeck of a village?” Blueblood complained, failing to notice that the carriage was already slowing to a stop. One of the pony chauffeurs unhitched himself from the carriage, and came back to knock on the door. “Your ‘Highness’, we have arrived.” He called through the door, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Blueblood, oblivious to the tone in the chauffeur’s voice, nodded in acknowledgement. “Indeed. Starched Collar, you may announce me,” he told his Butler. Starched Collar opened the door to the carriage and stepped out with a sigh borne of long suffering. He quickly unrolled a red carpet off the step of the carriage, then took at deep breath. “ANNOUNCING HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS, PRINCE OF CANTERLOT, AUGUSTUS BLUEBLOOD!” he shouted across the square. ((Your Prince is here! You may bask in his radiance! Or kick dirt in his face, either way works.))
  2. "Woah!!!" Snips cried out as the slide came to an end. He was still on his hooves, but now he was sliding across the smooth floor. Before he could react, he ended up with his face smooshed against glass. The colt staggered back a couple of steps, before looking up at whatever he had crashed into. It was a huge hydra! Snips began backing away as quickly as he could, before he realized the hydra was himself. "Heh, hey Snails check this out, I'm huge!" he called out. Just then, Haywire came running up, having come to the mirror maze the right way, and outlined her plans to scare somepony. "Hey, yeah, I'm in! After Pinkie's place, someone else needs to get the scare!" he told her. Snips peaked around a corner and saw a pegasus on the floor... sleeping? He had no idea why somepony would come into a house of mirrors to sleep, but it would make him a good target for a scare.
  3. Snips' eyes went wide as the princess appeared before them. I mean, sure, he'd seen Princess Celestia in Ponyville before, but only at a distance. She was HUGE! With seemingly effortless magic, she had made candy appear from nowhere for each of the ponies present, then flew off in a flash. Snips stood there for a moment, stunned, wide-eyed, and slack jawed. "That... Was... AWESOME!" he finally got out. "Snails, did you SEE that?! That was really the Princess!" Snips got his usual bounce back after that, costume or no costume. "Hay, did y'all see that? It was Princess Celestia, THE Princess Celestia! WOW! Ain't she the greatest? Must be great to have all that thar magic! Wonder if an Earth Pony like me could ever git some? Well, I'm on my way over to Celestia's House of Mirrors. Who knows? Maybe the Princess will appear there next! Ain't this been a fun Nightmare Night so far, guys?" Snips finally recognized the ghost with Snails. "Hi Haywire! Yeah! I shoulda' tried to get her to sign my magic hat!" he answered the filly excitedly. Snips then noticed Snails with the rope in his mouth. "Uh, Snails, maybe you shouldn't..." and then the floor dropped...
  4. Pinkie Pizza Pie: Pineapple, extra cheese, and hot sauce. (That's what I imagine her eating at least.) Myself, I load my pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onion, green and bananna peppers. No fungus or dead fish, please.
  5. Snips was frustrated. Not only had he gotten to the haunted house too late to get any candy, he'd gotten separated from Snails after Pinkie's appearance. Now, he was lost in the maze of the house, been spooked several times by traps and ponies jumping out at him, and had nearly lost one of the heads on his hydra costume. He was moving slowly forward, staying close to the wall to avoid any traps in the middle. As it turned out, it didn't so any good. In the darkness, he stepped onto a board that sank into the floor under his hoof. Suddenly, the whole floor and the wall beside him spun around in a circle! The floor stopped moving on the opposite side of the wall, and Snips fell to the ground at the sudden stop. Feeling dizzy, he looked around, and finally spotted the big parasprite. "There you are Snails!" he said in relief, "I've been looking all over for you!" Snails was accompanied by a jester, a ghost, and a werewolf.... who was covered in cake. Snips was really glad he hadn't walked into that trap. "Hey everypony," he called out, "you know a way outta here? I dunno if I want to run into any more of Pinkie Pie's 'surprises'..."
  6. Snips ran up to the haunted house as quickly as he could without damaging his costume From ears to tail he was dressed in green fabric. He had yellow "scales" running down his belly, and three paper mache heads on long necks, painted the same colors, were positioned over his real head. The heads were the fragile part, and he was afraid they would fall over if he moved too fast, or bounced like usually did. Snips had gone with the hydra costume last minute, because his dad had finally convinced him that an Ursa costume was probably a bad idea... The room was nearly full by the time Snips squeezed in. He carefully weaved around the adult ponies, looking for a big parasprite. He finally spotted Snails next to a glowing cowpony. Snails already looked spooked, and they hadn't even started yet! He snuck up to the parasprite, and yelled "BOO!" Snips then noticed who it was Snails has been talking to. "Hey Applebloom!" he said cheerfully, "Nice glow!" ((Oops, looks like I got in a few minutes late...))
  7. Roleplay Type: World of Equestria Name: Topaz Tremor Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Earth Pony Eye colour: Brown. Wears eyeglasses to due to severe near-sightedness, and can hardly see without them. Coat: Red-orange Mane/Tail: Her mane and tail are both plain and brown. Topaz feels she's very plain looking, and seldom does anything to style her hair, but she will tie the mane and tail back with ribbons on occasion. Physique: Draft pony build. Large hooves, tall, and naturally muscular. Residence: Her family lives in Fillydelphia. Her current residence is Canterlot University, but is very seldom at either home. Occupation: Geologist, Graduate Student from Canterlot University Cutie Mark: A pair of snow-capped mountain peaks crossed by a geologist’s rock hammer. History: Topaz grew up on the outskirts on Fillydelphia. Her father is a long-haul cart pony, while her mother is a unicorn jewler. Topaz inherited both her dad’s large build with her mother’s bad eyesight. Both of these features caused a group of neighborhood colts to tease her. Some of those colts had set up a club house in an old cave outside the town. Topaz had always had a bad feeling about the place, but she was never been able to figure out why. She had tried to warn the boys away from the place, but the colts had dismissed her fears. Then, one day while the colts were playing deep in the cave, the tunnels collapsed, trapping them inside. Topaz insisted on going with the rescue party. During the rescue, she began to feel vibrations through her hooves. She found that she was somehow able to sense where the cracks in the cave walls were, where the ground was dangerous, and where the rescuers could dig without collapsing the cave further. After hours of digging, the colts were finally rescued. As Topaz lay outside the cave, exhausted, the colts came up to thank her, and pointed out that she had gotten her cutie mark. She became great friends with the colts she had helped to save, and she still writes to them regularly. As she matured, Topaz continued to develop her ‘earth sense’. By stomping the ground, she is able to feel the vibrations through her large hooves and determine the composition of the earth below and if anything is buried nearby. She became fascinated with earth and rocks and minerals, and eventually was accepted to Canterlot University to study geology. Character Summary: Topaz is a product of two very different parents. Her father (whom she always refers to as ‘Daddy,’) is a coarse, no-nonsense stallion who makes his living pulling heavy carts over long distances. Her mother, on the other hoof, is an elegant unicorn jeweler who always sought to teach her daughter proper behavior. Topaz is very eloquent and scholarly, but she also loves getting out and digging into the earth. She always strives to maintain proper manners, but she will vehemently defend her friends, and cannot stand rudeness. While she normally speaks in a cultured, educated manner, when she gets angry, she slips into much rougher ‘cart driver’ speech. She is currently a graduate student at the University, and is undertaking an extensive geological survey of Equestria for her thesis. While it is lonely out on the road by herself, Topaz keeps in touch with her parents and her friends with regular letters. Topaz is fascinated by minerals, jewels, stones, and the earth of Equestria. She is much more interested in the ancient history she can find in rocks than in current events. She’s most at home on mountains, volcanoes, or when underground. Likes: Minerals, jewels, caves, and mountains. She has a weakness for junk food like hay fries. Dislikes: Rudeness, tall buildings, flying (as in a pegasus carriage) , anything that gets her hooves too far off the ground. Pony Creator code: 4H00100000FF2400C9000002000750000UK1637401200002Y18029298129292U107F3FCC004CB2 By the power of my MS Paint skills, I bring you Topaz's survey cart.:

    jobs?

Well, I WAS PC support and IT purchaser for a chain of nursing homes. Then, they started selling off the nursing homes and they downsized the IT staff. Right now, I'm basically doing data entry at a large bank in their loan support department. In the past, I've worked several retail jobs, worked at two different pizza places behind the counter, worked two summers at a theme park, worked in a couple of warehouse jobs, in a mail room, and also spent 6 1/2 years in the US Navy. On an odd note, four of the stores I've worked at and one company have subsequently gone out-of-business after I worked there.
  9. As Radiant Steel turned away, Bonfire brought a hoof up to rub his eyes. He had been tired before this whole mess had started, but now he was tired AND had splitting headache. With a thought, he dismissed the flame in front of Malediction and felt the magic disperse from his horn. Magic. Radiant really seemed to have taken his comment about magic personally. That arrogant pegasus courier hadn’t helped with his smart remarks, but still. Bonfire had not meant that unicorns were superior or anything, it was just common sense to his combat-trained mind. You combat magic with magic. If you don’t have magic, you have to hit the unicorn when they did not expect it, not when they are staring you in the face. Malediction was obviously out of her mind; who knows what a crazy pony could be capable of when attacked? Bonfire considered talking to Radiant again, but in her current mood he doubted she’d be receptive to his comments. For now, even if she didn’t like his words, hopefully they’d make her think twice about flying headlong into fights. The unicorn turned his attention back to the prisoners. The pegasus had earned himself at least a week in the dungeon now, after resisting arrest the way that he had. Malediction, as much as he hated it, would probably still be out by tomorrow afternoon. Nothing she’d done allowed him to hold her longer than that. No matter what the crazy unicorn thought, Princess Celestia’s laws were clear, but fair. Finally taking the hoof away from his eyes, Bonfire looked up into the night sky. The moon showed that it was just past midnight. The unicorn groaned. That meant that he still had half the watch to go, when all he wanted was to get back to his quarters. Most of that time would probably be spent on the paperwork needed to arrest these trouble-makers too. He looked over at the guards holding the two prisoners and gestured with his horn. They began moving toward the palace guard house with Bonfire following. The two unicorn guards were still holding the suppression spell on Malediction. They’d hold the spell until the unicorn was escorted to the dungeon cells, which were warded to prevent the use of unicorn magic. Bonfire hated going down there himself; being cut off from his magic always made him feel like he was freezing. Bonfire tallied up the night in his head: two ponies in custody, one pegasus guard who thought he was a bigot, four hours of paperwork, and one whopper of a headache from the whole thing. The next time somepony asked him to take this night watch, Bonfire would tell him where they could stick it.
  10. Books: The "So You Want to be a Wizard" series by Diane Duane. Its supposed to be a series for young teenagers, but I still love it. Music: I'll go ahead and say NIckleback too. Not sure why they get so much hate. TV: Outside of FiM, I'd have to say Spongebob (The first few seasons only) and Fairly Odd Parents. Patrick and Cosmo are freaking hilarious. Movies: Titanic. What? It was big news when I was a kid and the Titanic was found, and I've had an interest in shipwrecks ever since. I like the movie for the ship, darnit!

    BUG REPORTS!

I'm not sure if this is a bug; this is more of a "Is this supposed to work?" When posting an image from a url, the post editor allows you to re-size the image by clicking and dragging. However, when the post is previewed or posted, the pictures go back to their original size. I'm guessing this feature just doesn't work on linked pictures, but I thought I would ask.
  12. Canterlot's own Phil the Time Wizard has gotten his fan-fiction posted up on Equestria Daily. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/10/story-entwining-of-hearts.html Also, a few months ago, an RP by Tales, Skye, and Mudbug was turned into a fanfic, and also got onto EqD: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/05/story-two-truths-and-skye.html I think it needs to be a rule that if you get yourself on EqD, you owe the rest of the forum drinks.
  13. Nah, the only reason Fluttershy was able to catch up to Rainbow Dash was that Rainbow was carrying Rarity and Pinky, plus dragging that cloud along. No matter how motivated Fluttershy was, there's no way she could keep up with a free-flying Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy was also just pulling a lighter-than-air balloon, not supporting the full weight of 2 ponies. As for flat out running speed, I have to go with AJ, though RD would be very close second. Pinkie Pie is not fast, she just utilizes cartoon physics to get to places before a pony that has to run the whole way.
  14. Someone was playing the sound from this video in one of the Pony areas in Second Life for over a week. The combined noise was just too distracting, and I never listened for more than a minute or two.
  15. "Hold that thought, Private." Bonfire said to Radiant, looking back at the assembled guards. He had thought the two trouble-makers were subdued, but now it was taking three to four guards each to keep them still. And Malediction was screaming incoherently. Bonfire definitely felt like these two ponies needed to be scared down a peg or two, but blind panic was just going to get somepony hurt. Maybe he'd over-done it on Malediction? Nah... But it seemed that her panic was inciting the pegasus to panic as well. Bonfire thought briefly about her green flame (why was that so familiar??) and her cutie mark that also depicted that flame. Her magical talent seemed very similar to his own, and this gave him an idea. Something his mother had done to help him focus his emotions as a foal. With a flare of magic from his horn, he created a small, intense, white flame in front of Malediction's eyes, and made it slowly rotate. Many ponies had an instinctual fear of flame, a remnant from when their ancient ancestors had lived in herds in dry grassland areas. But for a unicorn with an affinity for flame, a fire could be a comforting presence. Hopefully, this would at least distract Malediction and stop the screaming. Now, Bonfire turned back to Radiant Steel. The young pegasus still looked like she wanted to kick somepony. "Private, you see this horn?" he growled, gesturing to his forehead. "That horn means unicorn, in case you forgot basic pony anatomy. Unicorn means Magic. That unicorn over there could have probably burned you to a crisp. What the HAY were you thinking, charging in there like a like a foal??" Bonfire got up into the face of the pegasus mare. "What was the FIRST thing I said to you tonight??" he asked her forcefully, trying to keep his voice pitched low. "I don't care how much you feel you need to defend the Princess' honor, getting into a brawl over it is the LAST thing she would want!. You're LUCKY I don't put you on report for that little stunt!" Bonfire took a couple of deep breaths, stepped back, and composed himself. "But you know what?" he asked Radiant, in a calmer tone. "I didn't tell the Lieutenant about that. You obviously have your loyalties in the right place, and I know what it's like to loose your temper. Trust me on that. That unicorn almost got to me as well." he admitted. "Now, you calm down, then we'll see these pains-in-the-flank to a cell for the night." ((Seems like the thread is coming to an end, might want to think about wrapping up in the next few posts.))
  16. This is Ghost, in a rare quiet moment. We called her Ghost because when my son and I adopted her, she was just a little, skinny, gray wisp of a thing. Now, she's probably the noisiest cat I've ever seen. Thanks to Ponies, when she cries at me for attention, I can't help but think, "If I giggle at you, will you go away?"
  17. Just 9? I have it from a reliable source that there will be at least 20 seasons of MLP! At least, that's what I think he said. Crazy Pete is kinda hard to understand sometimes...
  18. Bonfire stepped back from Malediction as the other members of the guard began to arrive. He glanced back to the unicorn smugly as her haughty facade broke down. She veinly tried to fend off the arresting guards, but in her panic she could only wave a ball of her odd green flame around. Two unicorn guards approached her, horns glowing, and even that flame was snuffed out. Certain unicorns among the guard had a spell that could suppress the magic of another unicorn. The spell took a lot of concentration and energy, however, and was something Bonfire himself had never mastered. These two unicorns would hold the spell on Malediction until they could reach the cells in the palace, where enchantments in the cells could perform that same function. Bonfire spotted a winged shape descending on the scene. It was a young pegasus, wearing slightly more elaborate armor than the other guards. The on-duty Lieutenant landed in front of Bonfire, demanding explanations. The red unicorn began explaining the events of the evening to the young officer, but he downplayed Radiant's attempted attack on Malediction, not wishing the young guard to get into trouble. As Bonfire and the Lieutenant conferred, they realized that there was not much to hold the two ponies on. They would most likely spend the rest of the night in a cell, and be released in the morning. Bonfire wasn't happy with that, but the law was the law. He did not trust Malediction, but she'd committed no serious crimes that they knew of. As the Lieutenant moved off, Bonfire focused on Radiant. She still looked as though she was ready to charge Malediction, or the courier, or anypony that got in her way. Seeing that the other guards could take custody of the suspect pegasus, he called out to her. "Guardspony Radiant Steel. I'd like to have a word with you."
  19. Bonfire observed Princess Luna speaking to and comforting the frightened earth pony. The princess' whole demeanor seemed to have changed. Where before, she was nervous and unsure, now she seemed confident. She even appeared to be inspiring the brown pony. Luna seemed to be giving off an aura of power and kindness just like... just like Princess Celestia. That observation shocked Bonfire. He'd had multiple opportunities to watch the princess since her return, both on her own and in the company of Princess Celestia. She'd always appeared withdrawn or nervous around other ponies. That had only fed Bonfire's suspicions about Luna's true motives. Now, in just the last few minutes, he'd seen her take change of her situation, give orders like a proper commander, and comfort one of her subjects just like her older sister would have. By her actions, Princess Luna had seeded a few cracks in Bonfire's doubts about the former Nightmare Moon. But Bonfire wasn't quite ready to believe just yet. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, then faced the princess once more. "By your leave, Your Highness," he addressed her,"I must return to my duties at the palace." He saluted Princess Luna, and then approached the young pegasus now guarding her. "I want you to come see me after you get off duty tonight," he said to the guard, his voice pitched so the princess could not hear. "I want to know everything the Princess does during her tour today." The younger guard's eyes widened a little in surprise, but the pegagsus nodded in acknowledgment. The red unicorn began walking back to the palace gates, his schooled blank expression masking his internal doubts. ((Bonfire Exits))
  20. Well, you can do one of two things. You can read through any of the current RPs, and see if you think your character will fit there. Unless the title of the RP says (Closed) or something similar, the other roleplayers will usually welcome a new character and bring them into the dialog. The other thing you can do is create a post of your own that will introduce your character the way you want them to be seen. That gives you the advantage of setting the scene to your liking. Either way, your first post should probably give a basic idea of how your pony looks, and a bit about their personality so that other RPers know how to interact with them.
  21. Snips began packing his magic table away slowly, avoiding the gazes of the other foals. He'd practiced that trick over and over, but he'd still managed to mess it up at the end. Nopony was supposed to know about the paper on the bottom of the glass. That's what made the coin look like it had disappeared. Now he'd have to come up with a new trick since that one was ruined. Snips sighed. He'd never get to be a great showpony like Trixie... Even now that he knew Trixie wasn't some super-powerful unicorn magician, he still remembered her show with awe. He dreamed that one day he'd be able to have a magic act too. Maybe in between trimming manes and tails... he still hadn't quite worked out how he'd do both. The colt was about to slink off into a corner of the yard to avoid the rest of the class as much as possible, when he noticed two ponies approaching the school yard. Wait, that was Snails' mom and... Snips' embarrassment was suddenly forgotten as Snails walked up to Miss Cheerilee. He hadn't seen his friend for the last week thanks to the pony pox. Snips bounced up to the taller colt, but shied back just a bit seeing how tired Snails still looked. "Snails! You felling better? Am I gonna' get your disease by talking to you?" Snips playfully put a hoof up to his snout as though blocking the germs. Upon hearing that Snails wanted to do his Show-and-Tell still, Snips asked him, "Oh, did you bring some of your bugs? What did you bring??"
  22. I was going to vote for Keaton all the way, but the more I thought, Bale did bring more to Bruce than Keaton. But Bale's Batman really annoys me. He sounds like he's got a throat full of gravel... I was really torn between Jack and Heath though. They played two totally different Jokers. I finally voted for Jack, for nostalgia.
  23. Ponies tended to react in certain ways to being arrested. The courier (Bonfire still hadn't gotten his name during this whole time) appeared to be panicking. He was trying to hide it behind brave words, but Bonfire could see the whites around the pegasus' eyes. He still was not sure what the stallion's motive was in this whole mess, but the attitude was not helping matters. "Consider yourself lucky I'm not charging you with assault on a Royal Guard," Bonfire snapped at him. "Cooperate, and we won't have to add that on." Malediction, however, didn't respond in a normal fashion. Her haughty attitude returned, and she suddenly pulled the mystery package out of her bags before Bonfire could react. It was... a book. A magical theory book like the students at the Gifted Unicorns school would use. This? THIS was what she had been so eager to hide?? But Malediction went on with her rant, talking about how she expected to be beaten and silenced for her insane beliefs. Now Bonfire thought he had her number. Anytime she was threatened, it seemed to feed into the unicorn's paranoia. She fully believed she'd be silenced for her views. Bonfire put a pitying look on his face, and a sympathetic tone in his voice. "You poor pony," he said, shaking his head. "You really believe all that, don't you? Don't worry, I'm sure when Princess Celestia hears about this, she'll want to see to your care personally. Some of the best doctors in Equestria live here in Canterlot. They'll be able to help you." Bonfire turned away quickly so that Malediction could not see the smirk on his face.
  24. As Bonfire's magical grip began to tighten on the irate pegasus guard, the courier pegasus suddenly blurred into motion and tackled Radiant. Bonfire watched as the two ponies tumbled over one another until finally coming to a halt. Bonfire shook off a moment of shock and once again took stock of the situation. Radiant and the courier were down, but appeared to be uninjured. Had the pegasus protecting his accomplice, or was he actually trying to help the situation? It was hard to tell. Meanwhile, the insane unicorn had stopped raving for a moment, but somehow looked disappointed that she hadn't been successfully attacked yet. Radiant shot to her hooves, and pushed the courier pegasus out of the way. "You have to agree with me, sir! This pony is the worst sort! In the name of Celestia, she deserves punishment!" she yelled at him. "Stand down, Guardspony!" Bonfire shouted at the irate pegasus. He didn't know what had gotten into the young pegasus' head. She should know better than to attack a unicorn with no magic of her own. Who knows what this crazy pony could do? It was ironic that moments ago, Bonfire had been ready to fight Malediction himself, and now he had to try to defuse this situation. At this point he really only had one option. He stepped back to address the two suspects. "By the authority of Her Royal Highness, Princess Celestia, I am placing both of you under arrest; for interfering in the duties of a Royal Guard, and suspicion of contraband smuggling." Bonfire focused briefly, and shot a pair of flares into the air above the castle wall. That should bring in reinforcements from the other guards on duty. "Radiant Steel," he called to her, "Secure the pegasus until backup arrives." The unicorn then turned to Malediction, readying a spell. "Come along quietly, or I will take you in by force," he growled, menacingly. ((OOC: Sorry for taking so long guys. New temp job is soul-suckingly boring, and I've not had too much inspiration to write this past week. ))
  25. Corsair surveyed the starting line of the race. Ponies all along the line were stretching and limbering up their legs, a sensible precaution before a run of this length. He was doing the same, but he was focusing on his wings. He was going to be spending the day above the Whitetail Woods, not down in it. Corsair would have liked to participate in the Running of the Leaves. He'd not done much racing on the ground, but felt it would have been a fun challenge. Today, though, he had a job to do. He'd been hired to officiate over the race, making sure ponies kept to the rules. He'd heard about last year's race; how a pair of mares had brought some personal grudge match into the competition, and had begun fighting and cheating each other along the track. Thankfully, neither of the cheaters had won, but Corsair was determined that nothing like that would happen on his watch. As the time for the start of the race approached, Corsair adjusted the black and white striped cap he was wearing and took to the air. He looked down on the assembled ponies who were gathered in small groups behind the starting line. There were more pegusii than he'd expected in the groups. The challenge of a ground race must have appealed to more fliers than just himself. He also noticed... was that a gryphon? What was SHE doing in this race? He knew that gryphons were predatory and aggressive by nature. The pegasus had a feeling he'd have to keep a close eye on her. He then spotted another non-pony shape. It looked like a large dog of some kind, but he, too, wore the number of a competitor. This was looking like it was going to be an... unusual race to say the least. "On your marks!" Corsair quickly adjusted his position to watch the whole starting line. The ponies... the competitors below began to tense for the start. "Get set!" Most of the competitors dropped into a crouch, but there were several ponies who seemed distracted and did not seem aware of the starter's calls. Corsair reminded himself that these were not the professional racers he was used to, but he worried that somepony was going to get hurt if... "Go!!!!!!" And the racers were off, but not without some incidents. A pink earthpony with an unusual bouncing run had actually leaped onto the back of another pony, but continued on her way. Corsair descended to check on the unicorn that had been knocked down, but she had already gotten back on her hooves and began running. The pink mare was already bouncing away. He'd have to keep an eye on that pony as well. The pegasus began beating his wings to keep up with the pack. This was going to be a long day...
