Giving each character at least two pieces of reference art and prettying up their character logs makes me feel like I'm giving each and every one of them attention and development and totally not creating OCs just to completely ignore them in favor of new OCs lulz. -

Remember when I said five OCs were more than enough for me, way back in my first OC compilation? Yeah...yeah, those were the good 'ol days. Another group of OCs that were approved and have gotten art for their character logs, so once again, uploading them all in one batch rather than in separate pictures. The only one who doesn't have a character log yet is Revenant, but his picture's done. I need to work on utilizing different poses and expressions...this batch is pretty vanilla, especially compared to my other two compilation pictures. Honestly though, I tend to rush through the character log art in the first place, so all in all, I'm happy with 'em! Because each banner was a different size before I merged them all into one picture, they all came out looking kind of blurry and unfocused. Larger size is best size for viewing!- 11 comments

I don't usually draw characters for new members or people I don't know very well because there's always that possibility of them taking the art and splitting. But when a new member takes the time to drop 'Likes' all over my art gallery, well. It's less about "have to" and more about "really really want to". This is LunarDisplay's Starshine, a recently approved Unicorn who's specialty is brightening up the lives of others around her. Hope I got the mane decent - it's described as "fiery", but a reference made it look more wavey, so this picture kind of ended up somewhere in between. Hope you like it! Can I just say I love the scarf? I usually don't like rainbow color schemes, but the combination of hues in that scarf is such a cool rainbow color scheme without being a basic ROY.G.BIV color scheme. And her hair is so curly with just a bit of poof to it! -steals the giraffe character and regrets nothing- -

By the by, you might want to size your cutie mark picture down to 75x75. It seems the forums don't constrict them automatically, so your cutie mark is spilling into all your posts, heh.

In terms of bad guys, Revenent is right up there with Heartless on my roster of characters. He doesn't succeed in securing the top spot because he can actually sympathize and care about others - he just doesn't most of the time. Formally known as 'Northern Star', Revenant basically deserted the REIN after he became disillusioned with the competency of Equestrian leadership (along with some personal trauma that he blamed on incompetence). He's joined up with WRAITH's mission to dismantle and disestablish said leadership, because that's what all the bad guys do! ...At least the cool ones. *emo hair flip*- 10 comments

My latest character, though I'm not certain what I'm going to be doing with him. I wanted to add a dull-witted but kind-hearted character to my roster that would go around hugging stuff, and decided to go with a huge Diamond Dog that's pretty much a walking teddy bear - a contrast of hulking appearances and a gentle nature. And also a teddy dragon plushie with a hauntingly familiar color scheme. It doesn't hold any meaning - I honestly blanked out on what to color the dragon plush after I jokingly put in purple and green coloring, and ended up keeping it that way because it looks really cute.- 4 comments

Such a pretty design...maybe they're common off-site, but I know that I personally don't see a lot of OCs that have natural patterns on their coat, and the ones I do see are usually overblown or completely ridiculous. But the pattern on this mare is lovely. Did you style her after a specific breed of horse (like a dapple grey, maybe?) That might be a good name for her, Dapple or Speckle or something to that nature. I hope to see her app - any pony that's even remotely connected to Momo is sure to be a good'n. -

Since Bellosh is so awesome, I demanded he let me draw something for him politely asked if there was anything he'd like me to draw. He requested Shadowmane, the mysterious and fear-inspiring leader of WRAITH. She's suppose to be fairly covered up so that no one is able to guess her species, which is why she's got her horns, ears, muzzle, tail, and wings completely covered. Really cool character, it'll be interesting seeing her in RP. (The Kracken is not a cutie mark, but it is the symbol of WRAITH~) Shadowmane (c) Bellosh- 9 comments

Re-upload of the random picture I drew of a sea pony to practice my shading techniques. The skin came out really nicely, but the hair was a huge hot mess. My ability to shade hair tends to fluctuate wildly when it comes to painted pictures, I've yet to really settle on one set technique.- 2 comments

Seriously McDerp. At some point you need to release a tutorial to explain your shading and lighting techniques. Or even just a "Watch Me" type deal where you speed through your drawing, because I just can't get over how vibrant your pictures are. The shine on his hair and tail, in particular, are just... *grabby hands* -

Originally I was only going to draw the pet of the winner, but because there were so few participants I decided to go ahead and draw pets alongside their owners for everyone who participated. I wouldn't exactly call their relationship stable - they've both acknowledged that it's strictly casual, and are actually in a thread together discussing whether or not it's time to break things off - but that's why I like their relationship a lot. It's not "YOU'RE MY SOULMATE 4EVA", more "hey I like you let's kiss 'n stuff and see what happens"~ -

Obligatory V-Day picture for the only character of mine that's currently in a romantic relationship (sans Xiphos, 'cause his idea of a relationship is pretty messed up). I think Zelda and Inkbrand are the only Griffon/Pony couple that's even remotely active at the moment. Funnily enough, the thread where they hooked up had two other griffon/pony couples that were hitting it off, but I don't think they went anywhere after the thread ended. Sixth...seventh?...RP customer for Inkbrand's tattoo parlor in Manehatten. I shut down his open thread because of lack of activity, but I still do the odd request for a tattooing RP from time to time. This Pegasus was one of them, a mare who wanted some zebra-like tattoos to remember her tribe by. The symbol in the middle was done by her clan, the blue-gradient tattoos by Inkbrand. After a quick draw of a pet red panda for someone's OC, I got to thinking about my own characters, and what sort of pets they might have. And when I say "think", I mean "brainstormed and chugged out thirteen different animals because the thought simply would not let me go." I don't think all my characters will automatically have these pets - some might suddenly poof into existence, some will probably be acquired through RP. But it was a fun little drawing session, one that inspired me to start a little thread about them. Take a look at it here! -
This drawing is amazing...just enough detail to give the impression of scales and weathered skin without it being overpowering in design. Any chance a picture of the full dragon will make its way into your gallery? -

Was listening to "Daddy" by PSY today, and felt like drawing something. So it turned into a somewhat younger Pummel and his son Dawnguard. The hardest part about Pummel was probably the hair - so, short, can't use it to cover up mistakes, gah! Stars in the background were taken from an online source. That's why I suggested the idea of passive magical abilities rather than active ones. Pegasi and Earth Ponies have magic just as much as Unicorns, they just can't utilize it (maybe because of the lack of a focusing agent, i.e. a horn). The way I imagined Kitsune was similar, in that whatever magical abilities they have are passive in nature, rather than something they can actively manipulate or control. I'll leave my arguments for/discussions about Kitsunes at that then, and won't make an app. -

Ah...so species ability should be relatable to an already established WoE ability or species? I didn't know that. I thought it was more about taking a mythological creature and translating it to make it more WoE appropriate. There was talk about a new Kelpies species being shape-shifters, but to my knowledge that only comes from their mythology, not anything related to WoE species (unless Kelpies are going to be part bug). So that's kind of how I treated the two species I apped/proposed. If Kitsune were allowed however, could it be agreed that their physical appearance would look like a fox with multiple tails? If this initiative is to avoid lore-building, then instead of coming up with magical abilities for the entire species, players can just suggest what magic their Kitsune can do in the application, much like a person would indicate what magic a Unicorn can do, if any. Maybe Kitsune don't have any active magic powers, they are simply magical by their existence (by that, I mean that they are not 'normal' creatures, having an appearance and intelligence that is different from non-sentient animals. Kinda like how a Minotaur is a magical creature, but doesn't actually use magic, it just is). I might try creating an app for a Kitsune, if the staff doesn't really have a decisive opinion about them yet. Maybe that way RP staff could get an idea of how a Kitsune might be played in a RP setting, and it would stick more closely to the Extended-Canon Species Initiative - a basic physical description, with everything else about the app being specific to the individual character. -

Yeah, there's kind of a difference between pet foxes and magical, sentient foxes. And obviously a two-tailed Kitsune would be able to use its tails to fly, what else would they be used for?! I can understand the hesitance about Kitsunes though, the traits that are generally universal to the creature are either too OP (i.e. omnipotence and possession) or infringe on the special abilities other species' have (like their noted ability to shapeshifting abilities). They seem to be portrayed in lore as either as benevolent spirits or mischievous trickers though, which is something that could be played on. Maybe they can emit auras that have either positive or negative effects on whoever they're around. So instead of having active magic, they have some sort of passive magic instead. And honestly I don't see a problem with people being OC addicts. I mean, there are people who app/hoard cast characters but never actually RP them, or rarely do. Don't see why it would be bad for people to do the same with OCs.
