Well since we have lions with wings, could we possibly add Kitsunes to the species list? I'd imagine they'd essentially look like foxes with multiple tails, with the number of tails growing based on the age of the Kitsune (I would suggest nine-tails being off limits, as according to Japanese myth, that would bring a Kitsune a whole lot of OP powers that I don't think could possibly work in a RP setting). -
Yup, that's the sort of look I was going for - a hungry animal that only operates on instinct, with hers specifically being greed for more stuff. Probably greed for more pony friends, lulz. And no, the point is that some eastern dragons are depicted with more mammalian features, i.e. the nose and snout, fur around their faces and heads, the same way they have long and sinuous bodies instead of large bodies with wings like western dragons. If the RP forums weren't essentially frozen in time, this is pretty much what Yuri would grow up to look like, except with softer, more feminine features. That's what her dragon species looks like. It may not fit a conventional dragon look that people are used to, but Yuri's not a conventional dragon. The look perfectly fits Yuri's softer, more expressive, and puppy-like nature. (And I actually used Haku from Spirited Away as a reference, not wolves from Princess Mononoke). Hey thanks Harmonize, I appreciate the comment. Don't forget to leave a "Like" if you like! -

Maybe, roughly...two hours of work, for this one? Like many dragons, greed is one of Yuri's character flaws, though it's yet to really come into play in an RP. Still, I got inspired to draw an adult Yuri who was unable to fight a greed-induced growth spurt, resulting in her rational mind deconstructing down into an unthinking and avaricious beast. It'd be a pretty sad end for a character like Yuri - luckily, she's accumulated quite a few friends who could potentially snap her out of it. A rampaging Yuri might be fodder for a future RP. The face was heavily drawn from Miyazaki's work, because I could not figure out how the world to make a dragon snarl. Turns out it's all in the furrows of the snout/eye ridge and creases of the mouth.- 13 comments

I said as much on Skype, but I'll just reiterate here that I like the concept of MLP Sphinxes originating in Saddle Arabia, and having a look that reflects that. Saddle Arabian horse heads, lion's body (or any African big cat body, to add some visual diversity to the race? Think the only real difference might be the tail - lions have tufts on the ends of their tails, cheetahs and leopards don't) and no wings. Personally those traits make a lot of sense to me. -

Last one last one, at least for a while. My love of cloved-hooved, tufted-tailed mythical equine species has been satiated with the Abada and the Qilin. Honestly when I started writing for this character, she came out disturbingly close to Yuri in terms of personality - excitable and easily impressed. I toned her down and sideways to make her more worldly and less excitable, but still boisterous and gregarious. Also gave her some major flaws, such as vanity and selfishness. Overall I like how she wrote out, considering that I sort of started with just the picture and later developed the character around it. I also can't take full credit for the color scheme on her. A friend of mine actually suggested it to me, after watching me try out and fail at about twenty other color schemes.- 8 comments

They'd work similarly to how centaurs already work in the show and comics, I'd imagine, as discussed in this very thread. -

To echo Honeywing, what about Kirin (or Qilin)? They're pony-like in shape and structure, and I think they would fit pretty easily into WoE. Edit: Also, wouldn't it make more sense for Sphinxes to have a pony head or something? MLP Centaurs don't have human torsos, but neither do they have a horse torso to effectively make them look just like a horse. Seems like it would make more sense for the hybrid-type species to still be hybrids, but just not part human. -

What? Don't listen to other people - this species is still being considered for WoE, it hasn't been tossed out yet. Google "Abada". I didn't make this species up - they're the African equivalent of a unicorn, only they have two horns and a boar's tail. Though to be fair, part of the info on Daahir was written with Dubstep's original write-up for the species in mind, such as horns regenerating quickly and having control over the natural world rather than the unnatural. I've taken any "definitive" statements about the species and applied it solely to this character though, so other Abada aren't required to follow the same formula. If you're really interested, you should ask Dubstep to link you his original write-up. I'm not sure if he'd appreciate me doing so here, but it was an interesting read. It's what inspired me to try and get Abada as a playable species in the first place.

So this character might not actually become a character, but here's hoping he gets accepted. Daahir is an Abada, a dual-horned species that originates in Unyasi. His particular herd of Abada (consisting of his immediate family and one non-relative) practiced seclusion in the deep jungles of the Brakenweald, until Daahir met a Unicorn and decided he wanted to venture to Equestria in order to learn more about their strange magic. Credit goes to Dubstep for pitching the idea of Abada as a MLP species in the first place.- 13 comments

Haven't done a speed paint in a long while, so I tried my hand at a ruins/jungle type thing, based on an upcoming RP. About an hour and a half of work. Buildings are definitely not my forte...even ruined ones. I have trouble visualizing all the different divots and dips and wedges, so they're difficult for me. Aaaah, I've missed seeing new art from you pop up in the gallery. Derpy's hair looks adorable in this picture, and so does her pleased little smile at her awesome landing. Pls to more McDerp artz. (Also in case you hadn't heard, there have been changes to the forums RPing rules for cast characters. Cast are available for anyone who wants to RP a cast character (I think there are actually four Applejack players now), so you could totally ask for your Derpy app to be brought back and you wouldn't be hogging her at all). -

Brought on by a potential RP idea, Queen Chrysalis addresses those still loyal to her rule, including a ruthless Heartless smirking at a steady Kahz in an attempt to rile him up. Heartless and Kahz don't see eye to eye when it comes to Changeling politics, which is why I imagined some triumphant validation on Heartless' part as Chrysalis says something in support of his own views - which he then, of course, has to share with Kahz while the other Changeling frowns in displeasure. A quick 'thank you' gift piece for QueenCerali, who's been 'Like'ing and commenting almost every art piece I've uploaded since she joined the site (and even going to older pictures and 'Like'ing some of them, if I'm not mistaken). Thanks for the support! Featuring her Changeling character Cerali, up in her cave and looking down at something a bit forlornly. Another animation based of a suggestion by someone. Click on the picture and scroll a bit to view it! For those of you that don't know it, Dawnguard is actually very similar in appearance to Dubstep's character Dark Core, with a white body and golden hair - the unicorn simply dyes himself darker colors. In this little animation though, Dawnguard happens to catch Dark Core without his dyes, leading to some confusion over an obvious kindred spirit (not). Dark Core © Dubstep- 3 comments

Son of the highly decorated General Pummel (played by Bellosh), Dawnguard is out to follow his father's hoof steps in making Equestria a better place. Bit of an explanation behind this one. This picture partly stems from an old RP where Inkbrand was chosen as an "Element of Harmony" sort of thing, with his element being Justice, and also partly from a conversation I had with someone about "Alicornification" - specifically, what aspect of our characters, if any, could they potentially become an Alicorn paragon of. From the very few examples in the show, ponies who are made into Alicorns (i.e. Twilight and Cadence) seem to exemplify intangible ideas, ideals, and traits, rather than tangible ones. My friend and I got to talking about what ideals our characters might exemplify to become Alicorns, which lead to this picture. Inkbrand is a very flawed character, but if there was any core value he might learn to be a paragon of, it'd probably be Justice. Inkbrand cares about what's fair and everypony being held to the same standards, but those feelings tend to be skewed by his own personal experiences instead of being unbiased. I didn't draw the emblem of Inkbrand's cutie mark on the throne. It was drawn by a talented artist from a different website, for the aforementioned RP.- 8 comments

Not much explanation or reason for this one, just a potential/imagined scene for Hearth Warming Gala. Will it or anything remotely close to it actually happen? No idea.
