Felt like sketching today, so out comes a messy, random alicorn design. Not all that intuitive, color-wise, but I like it nonetheless.

    Lore Weaver

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

A quick draw and color of a character I've RPed with a few times now, Scootalux's Lore Weaver. Tried to give him a somewhat studious but youthful look. Also took some artistic liberties with the mane and tail style. I couldn't really tell what his mane/tail were doing in ScootaLux's own references of this character, so I went with a "best interpretation plus unique spin" on them. Lore Weaver © ScootaLux

Inspired by a random RP idea that has floated in and out of my head for a few months. One hour speed paint. I started getting tired near the end, so I sped - really sped - through the ponies themselves. But, these speed paints are more for background and conceptualization practice anyways, so I'm overall pleased by it. If only I could find a good mountain range tutorial, I'd be set.

Another character, what am I even doing with my life. Fabled Archives, scion of House Ea'thr of Kastrot. This Unicorn is the stallion whom Heartless likes to impersonate the most, though his disguise lacks the tattoos that the real Arc has in the present - he got the tattoos in Unyasi, which is after Heartless saw and was able to mimic him. Still, as Arc is far away in Unyasi and didn't really travel outside of his family's island before leaving, Heartless is pretty much in the clear to roam about Equestria as he pleases, kidnapping young maidens and stealing their souls erm. Frolicking through the flowers. …Yeah. Yeah, that's it.

    Heartless

I jumped on the Changeling bandwagon with a new character application, a Changeling named Heartless. Pretty excited about him, maybe enough to actually RP him from time to time…

    Snap Shot

    From the album: OC Art

Felt like doodling again today, trying to get back into my art mojo. So here's Zelda and Inkbrand out on a casual stroll, though something appears to have caught their attention. (Don't ask me what, I don't know). Zelda © Tacobob
  7. HOLYMOTHEROFCRAPZOLAWHATEVENISTHISICANTEVEN ndflasf that glare is perfect. His eye is piercing so brightly and trying to rip apart his target with just a look…and, that skin shading. I think that is probably my favorite thing about your new shading style - you shade skin smoothly and seamlessly. The light blue highlights dotting his skin really add color to his otherwise muted color scheme. And can I admit you've done a better job replicating his hair than I have? Like wow. I'm just, I can't. Daffff this seriously made my day. *saves to computer a gajillion billion times over* Also Wispy Woo lulz

    Human!Zelda

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Messy sketch time! My take on what I imagine human!Zelda looks like. Note that this is just my own artistic interpretation. I feel like she would have a very elegant look to her, with a defined jawline, high cheekbones, and a long neck. But also with an edgy sort of haircut, the sort that only a select few people can manage to pull off without looking ridiculous. Zelda © Tacobob
  9. I really, really like this piece, probably because it's really interesting to see the subtle nuances between the different species in one space, all drawn in the same art style. And also dat Saddle Arabian mare like wow.
  10. McDerpholycrapwhatareyouevendoinghowisthissoamazingpls Another evolution of your artwork, as again, I had no idea whose art I was clicking when I saw the thumbnail. It's crazy to look back on your old artwork and then see something like this pop up in your gallery. I think the shading on the skin is my favorite part, it's crazy - the way you defined the eyes and snout and mouth with CG artwork is incredible. …Yyyyeah. There's plenty more I want to say, but I'm too busy being speechless. So, I'mma just, got over here now and stare some more, m'kay.

    Pulling Carrots

I honestly didn't recognize this as your art when I first saw the thumbnail, only after I clicked on it and was brought to your gallery. Your anatomy is getting a lot better, and it's great seeing an expression different from ones you normally draw. Much approval!

    Up to No Good

    From the album: OC Art

Was looking through some old pictures, and came across an outfit design for Inkbrand that I've yet to use IC. I decided to redraw it with a few tweaks, but it's mostly the same. Just Inkbrand hanging out in a tree, in broad daylight. In full gear. Closely watching something. S'fine.
  13. Youtube "Blue Lightning TV Galaxy", it should be the first result. I've yet to watch his other tutorials, but if they're anything like this one I'm sure I will love them. He uses a lot of short keys I didn't even know existed and explains them clearly, so I learned more than just what sort of technique he was teaching.

Filly Applejack sporting a brand new cutie mark tattoo. Inkbrand's promised her one in Foals at Heart, and Applejack is raring to be, "a big pony naw!" So a tribal apple tattoo right on the cutie mark area is going to be the way to go. Don't question it. Applejack © Hasbro

Found a really nice tutorial today for creating a space/galaxy/nebula background, very simplistic and easy to follow. Throw in some Twilight Sparkle, because why not? I tried Luna, but I couldn't keep her design from blending into the background too much. Purple and pink stood out much more. Twilight Sparkle © Hasbro

Inkbrand's participating in a rave at the Electric Mane, courtesy of Vinyl Scratch. And of course, every rave needs pounding music, a dim atmosphere, and thousands upon thousands of neon lights. Not that Inkbrand is actually going to wear any of this, but the spirit is still there! He's suppose to be pumping his right hoof in there, not running it through his mane, but the action is hidden by hair due to layering issues. Still, good practice on lighting and posing.

    The lackey

Oh good! I was just about to KO on a McDerp Art Deficit. That little smile of his is adorable. Plus the large, shining eyes. And the cutie mark, oh my goodness. And his scruffy mane and tail! And - everything else, yup, pretty much.

    Meadowhawk

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

This drawing literally started out as a pony head before I randomly added wings, which in turned prompted me to draw a specific Pegasus pony. Meadowhawk jumped to mind, which resulted in this. I forgot the tips of her wings are colored differently than her coat color until after I merged all the layers, so the coloring came out a bit wrong. But overall I like it. Kind of a strange and lazy mix between simplistic lineart and more intensive CG. Meadowhawk © Dio

    Light Up My World

The magic swirl came from a brush set, though I can't remember which. I have so many free ones downloaded. Thanks! I guess I should clarify that he doesn't hate unicorn magic in and of itself - he knows its uses. He just hates when unicorn magic is turned on him, especially when a unicorn forces his body to do something he doesn't want it to do (levitate him, hold him in place, etc). He feels its a huge invasion of his privacy, yet unicorns use their magic as easy as you please on other ponies.

    Styling Tips

    From the album: MLP Characters

I mentioned in my previous Double Diamond picture that I really like his design, though I'm not entirely sure why. I think it's probably the foppish, boyish mane and tail style that endears me. Too bad it doesn't entirely work on Inkbrand. Double Diamond © Hasbro
  21. From the album: OC Art

Felt like doodling today, turned into this sloppy sketch and color. Inkbrand is a big dissenter of Unicorn magic, doesn't like it much at all. Buuuut, it can have its uses, maybe?

    Clandestine

From the album: Requests, Gifts, Commissions

Been in a huge art slump, so I picked a character I've RPed with recently to practice some CG techniques. 'Cout an hour and a half. Tried to use an angle that I've never really tried before with a pony, hence her looking up and away from the viewer. I think it came out okay, except the mouth is really bugging me for some reason. Probably because it looks kind of flat on a pony as opposed to a human, maybe. Clandestine © Zealot
  23. I forget the era (maybe Victorian?) but the frilled collar and sleeves were definitely inspired by a certain type of look. I can see it in my head but I have no idea what it's called. Everything else was made up.

Outfit for Starlit Shimmer to wear to Duke Enjoue Souriant's celebratory feast, in The Mystery of the Starstone. I'm guessing that the feast isn't actually all that formal, considering ponies from all walks of life have been invited, but Starlit Shimmer is not the type of pony to pass up the opportunity to make an impression. Especially in front of a bunch of high social gathering that is bound to be there. Also, I think it makes a pretty good Galloping Gala outfit too.

Fifth customer in Inkbrand's Tattoo Parlor, though altered to showcase the magical properties of the tattoo Daedalus got. See the dormant tattoo at the bottom of the post here. According to Dio, the tattoo itself will glow different colors based on the magic stored in it. I went with a light/bright blue to match the glow on his horn. …I like it. Daedalus © Dio
