Heartland Championship Wrestling (OOC Signup, Discussion)

So an idea that a few of us have been kicking around is...wrestling ponies. Yay! Everypony likes wrestling ponies. Well, you should if you are looking at this. The idea is that we will have a pony wrestling promotion centered not far from Ponyville, sort of close to Canterlot, and serving both markets. A wide range of ponies are involved- OCs and cast are welcome! How this will be run:

1- After we have a roster and some basics hammered down, we will get a committee together to 'book' it. This will come through an OC boss of the promotion, though the decisions and stories will be discussed about OOCly.
2- The committee will decide who wins, who loses, and what path the story is going to take before a 'show' begins. You are all given a wide berth on how to accomplish this, but decisions must be respected.
3- Shows are to be IC wise one or two hours long unless it is a special occasion. They will be a mix of matches and other segments.
4- The committee will decide how many posts a match is before it starts. Just as in the Arena, a certain level of godmodding is allowed within reason. As an extra aside, be aware of how long your match is as you post- maybe your match is lasting 15 minutes but both players are only getting two posts. Don't be afraid to describe several minutes of action in a paragraph or two if it must be done.
5- We will hold OOC discussions and IC threads outside of shows to develop the promotion.
6- Almost every show will be live, so keep that in mind.
7- Your character does not necessarily need to live in Ponyville or Canterlot to be involved. There are many territories and stars from one will go to the next to give the audiences in different areas fresh faces.

8- IC wise, unicorns are not allowed to cast spells and pegasi are not allowed to fly above rope height. Ample room for heelin'.

Who can join?
Any character. An OC built for it? Check. Cast character with a secret or a passion? Check. Mares and stallions are allowed. Fillies and colts, no. Any species is applicable.

What is alignment? What is a face and what is a heel?
In pro wrestling, faces are the 'good guys' and heels are the 'bad guys'. In general, faces have virtues and beliefs we relate to positively and their actions are to be cheered. Heels are often cheaters who espouse poor or cruel beliefs. There are many notable exceptions (Stone Cold was a face who often bullied his opposition and broke the rules to get his way) but they all prove the rule.

At one time or another, anyone who is in pro wrestling has played a heel or played a face. There are also shades of gray- bad guys who might have some virtue, good guys who bend the rules, etc.

If need be Dunder could be a heel, as long as he's more chaotic good. Just not like....edgy teenager evil.

Applejack:

Character Experience: Multiple years.
 

Character Wrestling History, Applejack: Grew up as a fan who managed to sneak backstage to an old HWA show, endearing herself to the famed Luchadore Brilliant Star. Learned the ropes- literally- from her and the other members of the HWA roster and had her first match under the technical legal age. To handle a small degree of stage fright- and to hide the fact she was technically underage- she wore a mask and went by the in ring name of Gala Justice. Her unmatched athleticism and ability to learn many styles of wrestling, as well as her just and honorable characterization, allowed her to become one of HWA's biggest stars and eventually it's biggest face. Had to take a lengthy beak from it around the time she became an Element of Harmony, but between Sweet Apple Acre's success and Apple Bloom being able to handle more tasks, has made a triumphant return!

Character Basics, Gala Justice: Gala Justice is a Heartland gal with a heart of gold and the bucking legs of a Goddess. Seeks out those she considers mean or cruel and doles out justice at the end of her furious hindlegs. Her foalhood and where she is from is a mystery, with Gala often saying that 'nopony ever cared about me before I put on the mask!”. Wants to set an example for all fillies and colts that crime/evil/being bad doesn't pay, and that those that are honorable and virtuous always come out on top. Speaks when she needs to and speaks 'poignantly', but is by no means a chatbox.

 

Most Recent Storylines: Faced a pair of wily, cheating varmints while trying to become HWA Heavyweight Champion, coming up short time and time again. With the HWA becoming overrun by heel stables and her faces unable to help, Gala Justice started to slide into using less and less honorable tactics. The Sheriff of the Ring, The Paladin of the Palisades, Gala Justice started to attack her opponents before the match stated, cursing, chastising refs, refusing to honor the rules of the ring, and generally becoming less and less worthy of her history. Backstage attacks wre justified by her needing to even the odds, legal or not, and they started to work. She hurt one half of the pair that vexed her and was able to get a fair one on one match. Gala fought honorably enough, even with the new edge to her character, as she believed she had evened it. As the match wore on though her patience dimmed. There came a point where she was able to get an illegal weapon and use it on her opponent while the ref was unconscious, beating him to a pulp in front of a stunned audience. The ref came to and, unaware of the cheating, declared her victor.

She was now champion, and a champion who fired back at the crowd who booed her over several weeks. Increasingly delusional and believing she was still righteous, her views had become so warped that nopony was safe from her unique brand of justice. It wasn't until her feud with Thunder Charger that she started to reverse it all, her inner goodness finally clawing back in the face of her demons as she fought a friend. After several matches, they main evented HWA's biggest annual show. There, when presented with the opportunity to use a weapon on Gala Justice, Charger refused to do so. Gala saw the error of her ways and even though she lost, she hugged her opponent to the great joy of the crowd. A week later she came out and asked for their forgiveness before announcing she was heading out into the world to earn it as well, fighting injustice where it led. Years later, this is her return.

Assets: Gala Justice is a popular character, one of the most popular in the Heartlands. Applejack is a highly skilled operator in the squared circle. A true ring general with absolutely batty athleticism and experience. Wonderful understanding of psychology and storytelling. Her honest nature has worked to help in this regard- the basics of the character and her stories are based on her own personality, allowing her to be very natural. Monstrous endurance and commitment. Gala is a very physically attractive character with the outfit to match. Fiercely competitive but concerned with how the promotion is doing far more than with how she is, as long as she understands what the plan is.

Disadvantages: Applejack will favor Sweet Apple Acres in the case of an emergency, and the fact that she must always wear the mask- now due to her fame possibly overshadowing the story- limits what can be done long term. Gala can be a Champion but she can never be the top star because she will miss shows at some point. Gala is a face character through and through, making a long term heel run difficult. Applejack herself is not comfortable with playing a heel, though that has everything to do with her lack of confidence in playing one rather than historical precedence.

 

Signature moves: Most involve kicks, taking advantage of her massive hind legs. A few notable ones . The K.O. Kick: A massive, tree-rending buck delivered while bouncing off the ropes, aimed at the upper chest or head. Opponent often flips in the air and lands on his/her stomach. Bucking Time: Opponent I the corner, Gala unleashes a furious and unrelenting barrage of kicks that eventually forces her opponent lower and lower, slumped. Then runs into the opposite corner and charges back, dropkicking them. Springboard DDT. Pele kick.
Finisher: Two of them. One: The Vanhoover Destroyer. Two: Package Piledriver.

Hm, Flying Brick wouldn't be a bad fit here, either.  A colorful Stalliongrad character would fit right in to pro wrestling.  Could do either face or heel, depending on what's needed.  She would be decidedly independent from any face or heel factions, though; holding to her own city's supremacy over the rest.  Communist slogans may also be involved.

Updated roster with what we have currently. OC 1, OC 2, etc. are going to be original characters made just for this. A brief rundown of who/what they are:
 

Tag Team 1. Old face tag team on a final crosscountry tour. Not nearly as famous as they used to be, but well liked. Old style wrestlers who are getting out of shape but can still go a little.
Tag Team 2. Weak but smart cheater team. Young guns seeking the gold, high flyers who lack the impact to win most of the time in a straight fashion. Resorts to clever tricks.
Tag Team 3. Strong Maretonian heels. Powerful team with amazing teamwork, play the part of foreign bad guys perfectly.
TT 4/5. Two enhancement teams. (enhancement teams and wrestlers are specialists at losing who make their opponents look really, really good)

OC 1. Vain crystal pony. Skilled and able to take a beating with a vicious streak, but thinks highly of himself. Considers himself a fashion model.
OC 2. Aggressive cut throat. Does what it takes to win, inside and outside the ring. No loyalty.

OC 3. Technical artist, rich, immoral. Can make anyone submit...and if he can't make them, he'll pay them to.
OC 4/5. Two enhancement wrestlers.

Also note the spoilered part of my previous post. If anyone is interested in fleshing out your character's history with wrestling, the character THEY are playing, and other interesting tidbits, please do. That will help us decide what to do.

We need at least three people on the booking committee, we have two. Four is okay. Who wants in? Must be able to talk on Skype.

Big Mac would clearly be all in with this as a face, since he'd be the perfect male counterpart of his sister taking part.

Contemplating adding Sans Comique as a Heel, since she would be a naturally rebellious female type instead of the regular Diva. {Think AJ rather than Trish Stratus for those who follow wrestling more closely}

 

Vinyl will probably have more of a backstage role...and if possible, I might try and find a way of sneaking Luna in too - shall probably have to narrow down characters, but this is my prelim interest list! XD

Shame Rarity is not involved considering she's a pretty good fighter in the toon and an actual wrestler in the comic (Or at least has the skillz)....Hopefully she could at least make the costumes...Zelda is going to need something GLAMOROUS..And possibly an oversized mirror she can both use to admire herself with every ten seconds and also to use as a weapon incase anypony tries to get their filthy hooves on her! Grrrr!
