  1. We do two checks because people are fallible and might miss things if not being careful. If it's all on just one person to make the call, that leaves too much in their hands. People may force things through before they're ready. Things may get approved which shouldn't. We just feel it's better to have two sets of eyes on every app. It diffuses the burden of having to make the call for when an app is ready.

  2. every time I've ever got called in for jury duty the case has already been dismissed by the time the jurors show up. Might happen to you too.

If not, there's still a good chance they won't select you; depends on what the attorneys are looking for. if you are selected, the number of small, petty crimes greatly outnumbers the big, violent ones. From what I've heard from people who have served on juries, it's more likely you're just going to be bored than anything else if you do get selected.

I'd just go with it and see what happens. Chances are good it won't end up like you fear it might.

  3. If you have diagnosed medical conditions it is best you discuss them with professionals who fully understand them and can offer you help. I suppose I can understand if you're only intention was to vent your problems here in our blog space (which is a perfectly fine thing), but if you are looking for help with dealing with serious problems it's not exactly what this site is for.

For everyone else reading, please do be wary of the rules. The site rules, which extend to blogs, state that "Controversial topics can and do arise. Remember that you are not obligated to respond to topics that make you uncomfortable." Please be careful about how you choose to respond to a blog entry like this. Even if your intention is to help or show support, do be careful to note that everyone's situation is different before advising anyone about these sorts of matters.

  4. I noticed the most activity is in WoE so I recomend applying for that. Though it is easier to join CC given the less strict Canon rules. It will at least expand your RP options.

I'm not sure that's entirely accurate. Our Free for All RP section see a ton of activity each day. It probably actually moves faster (though that's in part because it's a more casual game, where less content is expected with each post.).

  5. This blog post is near to 8500 words.

That is the problem. That is what is silly here. You don't seem to be getting it. We care about presentation and how our volunteer helpers are treated here. The entire reason this issue unfolded as it did was because of your insistence to make an overblown production out of all of this.

I didn't get to respond in the thread, but in your reply you missed the entire point of what I told you in my post. It didn't matter at that point (and it matters less now) whether you changed anything. The key is showing respect to the game and those who are involved in maintaining it. Whatever you might have changed or not, you failed terribly there which is why we came to the decisions we did.

Please give it a rest for now. You're only making yourself look increasingly ridiculous.

  6. Allow me to first say that I appreciated this feedback. I'm sure everyone on the events team does. I've had correspondence from multiple non-staff players expressing they were delighted by what happened with this event, but I'm well aware that this is not going to be the case for everyone involved. We are delighted for all feedback we receive as it will help us try and make events more fun for everyone in the future.

There are, however, a few points i feel the need to make. For one, this event was--at least in part--intended to showcase our still fairly new Canterlot Chronicles RP area. With changelings front and center and potential for more darkness and action, the second half of the event was designed very much in spirit with this RP area; that was why we made it a special "joint event" in the first place. Of course, while WoE characters are allowed to play within CC, they are not going to necessarily be designed for it. We recognize this and anticipated it. We were very much hoping to catch people off guard with our surprise reveal.

What we didn't expect to happen as much as it did was users re-purposing their characters for action right on the spot. In truth, the event wasn't really intended to be a "combat RP" exactly. Sure, we anticipated some of that. It's only natural it would happen, especially with CC characters invited, but in accordance with the Halloween/Nightmare Night theme, with the exception of the Chrysalis thread, where it was basically "here's Chrysalis, try and stop her" we kind of we're going more for horror than straight up action. The intent was to surprise and overwhelm, create a sense of terror where the players would have to struggle and use their heads to get free against the odds together. It was intended to be about presenting a serious, ominous problem to overcome, we didn't really expect so many people to instantly break free and start beating up on changelings like it was no big deal.

There was indeed some frustration on our part as a result. A few select players out stepped their bounds by great measures and had to be informed of as much via PM. That said, though it didn't quite play to my personal expectations, I've still had fun with this event and find what I see quite encouraging. I've seen a lot of enthusiasm on display and if nothing else proof that the Canterlot.com events team can manage ideas bigger than just giving users a new themed sandbox to play in for a while. In the end, I don't think anyone will say that the event was perfect, but I would argue that it was well worth just going for it. Everyone involved, staff and player alike can take something from this and hopefully use it to ensure events in the future are even better than this one was.
