Hm, random thought, Cadence is an alicorn princess. Is she immortal too? If so, she's going to be in for a hard time when Shining Armour finally... goes. Poor thing.

Good question. We do seem to see her age between Twilight's flashback and her regular appearance, but I guess she could have stopped when she reached full maturity. I don't know. :|

Okay, ever since this episode got announced, I've been hard at work avoiding spoilers from all sources. I have to say, that the effort, was totally worth it!

Thoroughly enjoyed the season finale <3

Filly Twilight is just way too cute for my health. But it was worth the sudden case of diabetes just to see who this Princess Cadence was.

The Luna cameo was awesome, on both occasions. And who would have guessed Princess Celestia literally watched over her subjects with a telescope.

When Twilight came out and called out Cadence as being EVIL, and everypony shunned her. THAT, I won't lie, tugged at my heartstrings.

And the whole fight scene, that was epic! I did not see that coming. Applejack being OVER powered by the changelings, preposterous! Fluttershy not wanting to fight was expected but still adorable! Twilight becoming Pinkie's magic SMG made me laugh and so did the party cannon attacks. Only thing is, I wished they would have shown some scenes with Rarity fighting. That would have been awesome.

As for the finale, a bit anti-climatic I felt, but it was still lovable and sweet. And the reception, best one I've seen! If I ever tie the knot, I'm getting Pinkie Pie to plan it out :P

The only thought though, DJ-PON3's eyes, were they Red, Magenta, or Purple?

Oh gods, yes. Especially when the Princess was mad at her. We all know what that could do to poor Twilight. :sniff:

Was anyone else genuinely scared when Chrysalis (as Cadence) used that green flame spell at the end of episode 25? For a second I thought Twilight has been incinerated! Obviously they wouldn't do that... but for just a second... I was shaking. Was that the "disturbing scene" one of the animators was talking about?

blerp, I hate coming in late just to say I loved the episode, but MY GOURD, I LOVE THIS EPISODE :kissy:

I haven't been re-watching the eps in HD like I normally do lately, but that's what I'm gonna do the second I get home X3

there was a little stylized animation scene there at one point, and I couldn't even handle how cute it was X3

and I missed everything, like I always do on livestream, but for once it wasn't because of chat. the episode was just too awesome to catch all the super coolio things X3 I wasn't even able to read the chat, it was just too amazing to look away

That was absolutely fantastic!

I found it a little odd that the two central characters were never mentioned before, and I'm still rather interested about this new princess's relation to Celestia and Luna--does she govern some sphere like day or night? Love, perhaps?

But, those wonderings aside, everything was amazing. A lot of the shots contained extra ponies in the background, even if they were just guards, and that made the episodes feel much more involved in a way that, say, Discord's episodes didn't quite pull off.

Also, the changelings are really cool! And who else was strongly reminded of Nightmare Moon by Chrysalis? Her voice and design and everything were rather reminiscent. I do wonder...

So.... many... poooosts... I'll come back and look through them later, let me put in my two bits...

So first off, I love that bit where Rarity says "A royal wedding brings out the strangest ponies" *pinkie sneezes confetti* I could watch that bit all day long... I had to stop the video i was laughing so hard...

I have to say, i knew that cadence wasn't really her the moment she spoke up... Evil!

LUNA SPEAKS!... AND NOT IN THE ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE!

Twilight kinda jumped the gun though... she shoudl have had more evidence before jumping down everyone's throat...

I must admit, at the end of the first half, i thought that Cadence was actually Trixie, trying to hurt Twilight through her brother... i was wrong though...

Villian songs are always the best songs, in my opinion... I'll have to get the MP3 of that...

Frankly i think that this episode show a lot of animation talent... I love at the begining of the villain song when she says 'i've fooled them all'... i just love that few seconds of awesomeness, so much going on and it really gets to me...

http://youtu.be/Q3xqKvOwoyk?t=4m16s

her voice sounds so familiar though... WAIT! i think i might know... that little girl from Cats Dont Dance... I must research!

i think the bouquet trick was a little cheap, not to mention her throwing them to their deaths (maybe)... and when evil cadence was yelling at the real one, you'd think someone woudl subdue her... but i'll forgive them for that..

Saw derpy a few times! Sometimes with derp eyes. I wonder if now that she's famous theres one person who goes into every episode and tweaks one of her eyes, just in case...

Oh snap! Celestia opening a can of whoop ass! *Boom* aw... nevermind...

*changeling clone scene* A DOZEN RAINBOW DASHES AND FLUTTERSHY'S! MY DREAM COME TRUE! =D *hiss* Aww... evil clones...

Fluttershy may be timid, but she knows how to outsmart her enemies...

Pinkie Pie had weaponized Twilight Sparkle and Part cannons... God help us.

Where's Luna during all this fighting?

I do have another problem... So the queen got power from Armor's love... and yet when cadence claims their love will be more than powerful enough to stop her, she doesnt seem to care much... then bam she's dead I know unicorn power isnt powered by love, but it's obviosuly given her plenty of strength, you'd think she would be more concerned...

When the changlings were repelled, did anyone else thinkg that any one of them that was not have a clear path woudl get pinned against a wall and vaporized?

*sigh* the sonic rainboom isnt as special anymore...

VINYL! WOO!

Rarity marries spike next season... Calling it now!

All in all, BEST EPISODE EVER! I may actually buy this one on itunes...

hi hi

That was pretty amazing, I have to say. Not what I was expecting at all, and it makes me super duper glad that I skipped out on all the spoilers. I think if someone had told me what was going to happen with the changelings or any of that, it wouldn't have had the same impact. :)

The part where Twilight confronts fake Cadence and everyone shuns her... wow, that was intense. I hope people learn a lesson from that scene. Sometimes when a friend does something boneheaded, that's when they need your support the most. Even if Twilight had been wrong about Cadenza and she was the real deal all along, friendship is just the kind of thing to help someone in a situation like that to get through it. In fact, that's Lesson Zero. I know its hard (really hard sometimes) to stand up for someone you know is in the wrong, but its still important to understand where they're coming from.

The spouse of one of my best friends lost a friend forever at a wedding in a fashion not too unlike this one. She and her kid were sick and didn't make it to the rehearsal, and the bride and the bride's family were upset and gave her the cold shoulder when she finally did arrive. Rather than try to mend the wound, they just split it open more, and so after the wedding, when she had to leave the reception early (again due to illness) harsh words were exchanged and the two have not spoken to each other since... and I doubt they ever will.

Loved the villain, loved her song. I was totally thrilled to see Luna show up to guard over the night... that was so awesome! Here's a tip Twilight Sparkle, when you need somepony to take you seriously, talk to Luna.

I didn't mind that Celestia got beat by the Changeling Queen. I thought that whole scene was pretty epic. It goes to show that Celestia is one tough cookie who isn't afraid to throw down when she needs to, but still isn't the omnipotent being that she tends to be portrayed as in fan fictions. She's more on the power level of Nightmare Moon from the first season, which I really appreciated. (It makes sense why she has guards, and why she wasn't able to defeat Nightmare Moon without the elements of harmony)

I think perhaps part of the reason why the Changeling Queen was so quick to dismiss real Cadence as a threat is because of this: Her understanding of love is a one sided thing. It is something to use, exploit and take. Something that one person has for another. What she didn't comprehend is that real love is something that is shared. She may have drained shining armor's strength, but Cadence loved him just as strongly.

All in all, I was totally into this episode right from the start, the moment Twilight started getting upset I was on the edge of my seat.

I only have one complaint (and its a doozy I guess) and a lot of you probably won't agree with me on this one. At least, that's what past experience suggests.

Cadence's love magic was seriously disturbing to me. Season 2 has had 4 episodes now involving mind magic, but this is the first time that it has been portrayed as something good. Some people might wonder, "well love is a good thing, so how can creating love be bad?"

If you've never had anyone try to slip something into your drink, never wondered why you're not feeling right in the head, wondered what could possibly be wrong with you, then perhaps it would be difficult to know how distressing that is. If you've never felt the sense of betrayal and powerlessness when you finally figure out that someone you thought was your friend took something away from you and you didn't even realize it, didn't have any way to even try to stop it, then maybe its hard to really comprehend that you don't have to directly inflict physical pain in order for it to hurt. Making someone feel ok when they ought not to is sometimes even worse. I guess free will is something that is pretty easy to take for granted if you've never really been without.

"...There are some places in this world that aren't made out of stone. That there's something inside that they can't get to, that they can't touch. That's yours."

Then the changling queen turned into...well the changling queen. That little engineer in the back of my head popped up and went; "SPAH!"

I'm rather excited to see how this will play out in the community. Seeing as now there's at least 1 known threat to Equestria from \some other land\ and that isn't Discord. Hmmmmm, sounds like war to me!

Am I the only one who's actually glad they didn't re-use Discord?

No, there were plenty of people that thought that same thing.

And really, there was a 0% chance of him showing up again, given how the writers do things as well as how they defeated Discord. It would've just be a lame cop out to use him again anyway.

@Ginger Mint: I was thinking that same thing. Any time there's any sort of mind altering magic going on, it's a bit awkward, and kind of scary, when you think about the implications of it. In my mind, I tried to see it more as a nudge or Cadence pushing away the thoughts/ideas they were fighting about.

As for RP stuff, I'm on the side of not allowing changlings to be app'd, nor the queen. She doesn't fit with the rest of the world set here at all. She had no positive motive.

I don't think it creates love so much. More that it reenforces what's already there.

I thought exactly the same thing. Her power can't create love where none exists, like that potion in Hearts and Hooves day, it can only reinforce and clarify love that's already there. That makes it completely acceptable.

I found the idea that Celestia could be overpowered completely acceptable. Shining Armour is clearly almost as powerful as Twilight. They even generate the same shield spell. The difference is, Shining Armour is focussed on defence, where as Twilight is a multi-tool. Combine that with the fact that Chrysalis was assuming the form and powers of an alicorn, and makes her even more powerful. Plus, Celestia accepted the fake Cadence, which means she'd been worked on, just like the others, and probably for some time. Therefore she probably wasn't at full power.

My only problem is that Cadence is an alicorn. We need an explanation. Where did she come from? It also shows that the Royal family knew about Twilight Sparkle before she went for her test to enter Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. I have to wonder, what an alicorn princess was doing as a baby sitter. I'm certain that she was supposed to be a unicorn distant relation, like Prince Blueblood, and someone up top decided that Princess meant alicorn without thinking how it would mess with the setting.

That was a fantastic episode! I love how friendly, beautiful and loving Princess Candence actually was! I also really like the music in this episode, though they did all kinda sound the same. I hope we see more from all 3 of the Princesses in the future!

WOW

I mean....WOW WOW WOW

That's all I can keep saying! Just an UBELIEVABLE ending to the Season!

The setup for the plot was incredibly well-done. The plot made sense throughout, and actually turned into an unbelievable epic of a plot near the end!

The characters...heck, do I need to even say it any more? They were PERFECT. Shining Armor was a fairly likeable character despite his short introduction, Cadence was a wonderful character once we finally were introduced to her, and our favorite Mane 6 were loveable as always!

The songs...MY GOD. The Twilight song near the beginning, honestly, didn't do it for me. It just felt out of place, and was too slow-paced. However, the re-use at the end of Part 1 was PERFECTLY-TIMED. It couldn't have been placed better! The evil Cadence/good Cadence song....OH MY GOD. It was brilliant! Wonderful animation combined with the lyrics sung by a cocky and arrogant character and a hopeless one provided a wonderful hybrid! The final song....WOW. It really hit home. The songs PERFECTLY complimented the episode!

The writing was just brilliant! Every bit of the plot was perfectly constructed. I got goosebumps at every big moment of the episodes. I was CERTAINLY glad they didn't play the two episodes in two weekends, because I couldn't contain myself for a SINGLE MINUTE after the huge cliffhanger of Part 1.

The new villains...were fair. I like the Changeling Queen, but she could've really used more than the two scenes she got in her true form. I DID love her design, because it was quite a fun-looking one. In fact, it sort of reminded me of the design of the Super Mojo from the Powerpuff Girls Movie...in fact, that wouldn't be the ONLY similarity I noticed...

The big moments were BIG. I mean, the ones I can name off the top of my head wouldn't be enough to sum up the epic-ness of this! What stuck out most in my mind was the scene where Celestia is beaten, and it lays the cards down upon everyone else. I was literally MOUTH AGAPE at that scene. The dramatic tension boiled to big time as soon as that happened, and the animators and writers KNEW they had to make it dramatic! They did, by using the slow-mo in one of the best ways I've seen in FiM! Every moment was big, and it made it seem more like a movie or series finale than a season finale of the second season! I'll tell you, every moment they created was effective. I laughed when they wanted you to laugh, I got goosebumps when they made their moments dramatic, and...man, I CRIED at the end! Every moment was perfectly done. The ending, with the moral being the power of love and everything just coming to a textbook close, should have made every Brony cry. Perfect, my friends.

The action was GREAT! I mean, the dramatic moment of Celestia and the Changeling Queen set the stage for the dramatic, but the big fight in Canterlot between the Mane 6 and the Changelings was GREAT! I cheered, I laughed, and I got GOOSEBUMPS! In fact, the end of the entire fight with the "flashing punch" technique (The constant action shot cutaways with the white flashes) was VERY similar to the same technique Faust and Craig McCracken used in the Powerpuff Girls Movie. In fact, the fight scene was a COMPLETE take-off of the PPG Movie fight scene near the end. Not only was it homage to past work, but it was VERY well-made and a great technique to use, and it worked perfectly!

I think what I love most about this though, is that THIS was the episode all the Bronies were waiting for. It was an epic storyline, along with incredible visuals, funny moments, and just an episode that EVERYONE could sink their teeth in to. I don't think this was "just two episodes". Of course it wasn't, it was the season finale. However, I think this would be better suited to be called "My Little Pony Friendship is Magic: The Movie". I mean, THIS WAS IT. The plot was the biggest we've seen, the twists changed EVERYTHING about the mood of the show. Everything was done, knowing it was big, and made it the biggest stage we've ever seen for a FiM episode. This is, in my opinion, the FiM movie people have wondered about. No doubt about it.

My opinion? Well, say it with me now....

BEST. EPISODE. EVER.
